How can you get rid of the stripe on the homescreen created in ios 7?

I found this question some months ago, but no one had a method to resolve it.
I wanted to remove the solid stripe across the bottom of my ipad 4 homescreen. I think it's been called an app park, a shelf, and an applications easy access. Whatever it is, I really hate it. I like a solid black screen. There was a transparency to the old ios---I have on my iphone because I didn't update it to 7 when I found out it did this. This one is solid and grey! Really ugly. Is there any way to get rid of it, make it transparent, or at least minimize it?

Hi again. Well, it isn't death-defying or anything. And it isn't only because I CAN'T customize it and that burns me. It wastes my desktop space because I don't use it. When you are visually impaired---real estate on the desktop is pretty important. I usually have a black screen to see the icons better, but if I have a picture---the bottom is chopped off with this ugly gray stripe. The old 6.0.3 had the shelf, but it was transparent. It didn't bother me. This one does. That simple. I thought I saw instructions to at least change the color or something somewhere, but that was when it was new, and I can't find that again anywhere online. I guess everyone else got on board (moo), and I'm the only one left that still hates it.
I know these things are supposed to be updates, but I think Apple missed the boat on this one and screwed up a good thing. Maybe they fixed it in 7.4? (wishful) Anyway, I'm not even offered that IOS. Mine is still asking me to update to 7.1. I guess you have to update in order? I'm working in 7.0.4; that's the IOS that came with the unit in December.

I set up two accounts (Admin account and second one to use). When I turned my computer off and back on again, I've noticed a Guest account. When I went into my System Preferences to get rid of it, I've noticed that it's greyed out (so I can't delete it). Another issue I'm having is a symbol I'm seeing up top in my menu bar (<--->. In the area where it allows you to add or delete the delete symbol is greyed (shaded) out where I don't have that option to delete the "guest" account. And the ethernet symbol I'm seeing in the right hand corner of my screen is still there after deleting it in the System Preference/Network section.

Babylon window displays every time i start my computer it says strings.dat is missing or corrupted how can you get rid of this?

When i start my computer a window appears from Babylon and the message in the window is strings.dat is missing or corrupted.
it has a button to push that says ok but when clicked on with curser nothing happens i uninstalled all babylon down loads and this was left behind would just like to get this out of my computer.

basics for ridding of the actual babylon searchbar is like this...
loading firefox, noticed that my google search bar wasnt google anymore and had ababylon icon instead!
ASLO the browser displayed a FAKE GOOGLE search page!
so i opened firefox, typed "about:config" in url bar and then you look just underneath the url bar, and you'll see another search bar.
type babylon into it. right click on all of the results, and click reset.
thats it now disabled totally for now.
next go to tools>addons and look down the list and click uninstall babylon...
bingo.
but its not over yet! .....
next go to start> search and type "babylon" (without the quotes) and see what comes up, mainly in programme files\mozzilla\search plugins
and in the macromedia folder. if you get a "cannot delete.." notice, then that just means you havnt closed firefox (wich is odd coz you've apparently uninstalled the bug*er), so close firefox, then delete. you should now get rid of them all.
it DOSNT show up on add/remove programmes, and it didnt show up on uninstall in advanced system care, though you may try the other uninstall button to the right , but you'll need to type in the "pathways" ( eg C:\my computer\programme files/etc).
i'm still not convinced that this is the end of it though.
from other forums i have noticed folk contacting AND phoning babylon and basaically being either abused or told they wont help.
it seems to be invisible to AVG (i have the premium one too!) though around the time i installed the xvid codecs i did get an avg notice warning of an infection found in my t-mobile modem (dongle) but it seemed to actually be the tmobile liveupdat.exe, so i left it as i am sure i would get even worse problems if a effed around with it. (ie no connection, (eventually)

How can I get rid of multiple versions of the iTunes Folder

I am using Windows 7 and iTunes 12.1.1.4. Multiple iTunes folders have been created on my computer (on both my C: drive and my D: drive under Users and My Documents) and they all have different content. Some albums show up in one instance of the iTunes\iTunes media\music folder and some show up in another. How do I get all the content synched up? Can I simply drag and drop all these iTunes folders into D:\My Documents\My music\iTunes (the D: drive being where I store all my documents and photos) and then delete the rest of the iTunes instances?

Several remedies may apply:
For media files that are correctly linked from your iTunes Library, i.e., they will play without reporting something like this:
you can make sure that everything is contained within your main iTunes folders by selecting File > Library > Organize Library... and when you get this prompt:
check the Consolidate files box and, if not greyed out, the Reorganize files ... box and then click OK. This will move any media files that are in other locations to the folders under the setting in Edit > Preferences > Advanced:
This is the location of your media folder. By default, this will be C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media, where your iTunes database (the iTunes Library.itl file) is stored in C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes. In general that relationship between the database and the media folders should be preserved - in the example above the complete library is stored on a external drive, with the database in K:\iTunes and the media folder location being K:\iTunes\iTunes Media. Note that this setting doesn't tell iTunes where to find media files (that info is embedded in the database); rather, this setting determines where new media is placed within the media folders.
Checking this causes iTunes to automatically place media in folders, and (re)name media files, based on the metadata associated with the files. For music this means that everything will be in folders following the pattern iTunes Media\Music\artist_name\album_title and files to be named using the disc number (if present), track number and song name.
Checking this makes iTunes copy all new media into the media folders, independent of the method of adding it.
Second case ...
For songs that are listed in your library but you do get the "missing file" error, right-click on one of these songs - there will be a "(!)" symbol next to its name, right-click > Get Info. When you get this prompt:
click No (there's a bug in iTunes 12 such that you actually have to click No twice). Then go to the File tab and look for the Location information - sometimes you have to scroll down or expand the editor window to see it. You'll see something like this:
The "file://localhost/" prefix indicates that iTunes can't locate the file. The rest of the entry is the path to the file that iTunes holds in its database, i.e., where iTunes "thinks" the file is. This may be enough of a clue to determine where it actually is - close the editor, right-click > Get Info again, but when you the "... cannot be located ..." prompt click Yes then navigate to and select the correct media file. In many cases iTunes will then be able to adjust its location info for other songs. Otherwise there are a number of techniques that you can use to track down and repair these broken links - often using scripts running against the iTunes database.
... and the third case:
If you have folders that are labeled as "iTunes" but their content doesn't appear in your library within iTunes itself, add these to the library by any of these methods:
select File > Add Folder to Library... then navigate to and select the folder(s) containing the "missing" albums/songs
drag and drop these folders from Windows Explorer into iTunes
copy these folders into iTunes' Automatically Add to iTunes folder
Once you've been through these steps its probably worth running the Consolidate Library process again to make sure everything's in the right place. Once you've checked that to be the case, you can delete any stray "iTunes" folders that are outside the hierarchy rooted in the folder where your database and your standard iTunes Media files are located.
Two final points:
Moving files and folders around yourself never fixes anything in iTunes - in most cases it'll only make things worse by creating (more) broken links
A couple of turingtest2's valuable user tips also apply here:
Make a split library portable describes the optimal layout for an iTunes library, easing the processes of moving it between computers and maintaining a backup of it, as well as the steps needed to bring a library into that shape
Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy describes a suitable/recommended method to create and maintain a backup ... when you've gone through the effort to make your library just exactly perfect you don't want to lose it all as the result of a virus, hard disc crash, or other fatal failure!

How do you get rid of paused applications in the dock?

Suddenly I have tiny icons in my dock because there are all sorts of invisible paused icons. I can delete them individually, but they come back every startup. I tried the advise in the post
"How to permanently delete..."
but they didn't work. I don't have any VirusScanner or other such software.

Having trouble downloading, and reading that speed download could be the problem, I trashed it. The trouble is, I trashed the uninstaller along with everything else. Is there anyway to get rid of speed download? Safari quits when I try to download something, like a widget.

I am using Firefox 4.01 on a Mac, I have entered usernames while logging into Yahoo and sometimes, because networks are slow, I have put the password in too - How can I get rid of usernames offered at the login stage?

When I go to log into Yahoo now it offers me a list of possible log on ids. Because of mistakes in typing some of them have the passwords on them too. How can I remove this list?

How can I get rid of "Jagged Edges" on the text in FCP?

Hi guys,
I am running FCP5.1 and I have a still image (.jpg) of a consumer product with the name of the product and the description on it.
When I view it in the viewer or canvas, I see jagged edges around the name, description and the product.
Even when I use the FCP text tool, I still see it.
Can someone help me out please?

what is the resolution of the image? highlight the jpg on the timeline and press option(apple)+9... this will bring up the item properties window... about half way down on the Format page you will see Frame Size... what is it?

Even when I use the FCP text tool, I still see it.
I even see jagged edges when I import a .psd file (photoshop doument) with text on it into FCP.
It is getting very frustrating for me at this point.

How can you get firefox to work locally with the windows subst command?

I want to test my website locally using the windows subst command to emulate the root of my website. It works perfectly with IE8 (except IE8 displays the layout different to firefox) but will not work with Firefox. All of the images, styles sheets and anything with a root path does not work. If I use a relative path (../../ for example) to the objects they works fine.
How can I view web pages locally using a website root path?

Now I understand why Firefox does not load local pages and and IE does. I followed the link and tried all the various solutions. The noscript version did not work (but at least I have better security now) and the \\\\\ UNC path trick did nothing. Eventually I downloaded the IEtab plugin and that worked perfectly. All I wanted to do was to check webpages locally before submitting to my website and the IEtab plugin worked perfectly.

How can I get rid of a border arround the panel of a spry-akkordeon?

I am doing a spry-akkordeon. When I open the prewiew everything is ok. When I then click on a panel to open it, appears a border arround the hole panels that I never made and I can't find the place to cancel it. The colour of the border is different in Chrome or IE.

How can you get rid of Genius function without losing iTunes 8.0?

I recently updated iTunes to Version 8.0 with the Genius function, but I have the feeling that this program is taking up space on my hard drive that I don't want to lose. I understand that you can turn off Genius in the Store menu, but it's still on my computer.
So, how do I eliminate the Genius function altogether from the version of iTunes on my computer? Is it possible? Or will I have to just go back to an older version that doesn't have Genius at all. I want to free up the space on my hard drive that the Genius program is using.
In a previous thread <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1703834&tstart=15>, a user seemed to ask this question, but it never really was answered.
Any help from other users would be greatly appreciated.

AS it says in the thread you referred to you can turn off the genius function so it is not active.
You do this on the Store menu.
You can delete iTunes Library Genius.itdb in the iTunes folder. Normally if genius is switched on, it gets recreated, but I guess it may not if Genius is turned off, or at least it would remain small.
You can't remove genius from iTunes, it is part of the program.

How can you get a picture of part of the screen?

I'm trying to get the crosshatch on my screen to draw a box and capture a screen image, but I can't remember the keys. I thought that it was something and F4 but nothing is working. Can anyone clarify this for me. Thanks
