HOW do I create a NICE enlarged image in a window EFFECT? CS5

Maybe a long unnecessary title but I'm not sure how to describe it, and I can't find an example at the moment.
Basically, I would like to create little image thumbnails which when clicked on bring up an enlarged version of the thumbnail. Basic I know, but rather than just having it load up in a pop-up window like you can do with behaviors in Dreamweaver, I would like the enlarged image to appear in a window which expands out from a small rectangle/square to a large rectangle/square (kind of like an animation) and THEN the image appears in this lovely display window.
How is that done?
Maybe I haven't explained this very well. In the meantime I will have a look and see if I can find an example to better explain what I mean.
Thank you.
Ian.

You're looking for a AJAX "Lightbox" style script. These are quite common these days, and started with the original Lightbox JS script. They've since evolved into related projects like Thickbox, FancyBox, Lightbox 2, etc.
Here's a round-up of the different available scripts (plenty more are out there if you Google "lightbox script"):
http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/05/18/30-best-solutions-for-image-galleries-slideshow s-lightboxes/
The way these work are:
You place a script or two (sometimes your lightbox script and the jQuery JS package) in a folder on your server
You then link these scripts in the head of your document
You add your thumbnails to your page, and link them to the larger images
You then add some type of attribute to each thumbnail, such as a class like "lightbox".
When you click the thumbnail, instead of getting the larger image it triggers the lightbox script. Most all of the scripts have either instructions on setting them up, or a demo where you can view the source code. What I used to do is download the script, which almost always has a demo file in the download package, and open that up in Dreamwevaer to reverse engineer. It's not as complicated as it first looks.

How can I create a high res image gallery, need to have print res photos for a pressroom section.

If you want Muse to "pass through" your images and not adjust, compress, crop etc - you need to place your images in the lightbox EXACTLY at the right size, pre-cropped and prepped in Photoshop.
So if your light box is 800x600 the image you're dropping into that must be 800x600 exactly with no effects, rotation etc added to the lightbox frame. This stop Muse fiddling with your images, if they are perfect when inserted and you're not asking Muse to crop, expand, add effects etc. If it's perfect when inserted, Muse SHOULD also leave the resolution alone too, but I have not tried that one, but in theory, it should work.

  • How do I create a bootable snapshot image of Lion?

How do I create a bootable snapshot image of Lion?  In the past, I used disk utilities - restore to create a copy of current hard drive on an external drive.  If there was a problem, kids could boot to external and work until internal drive was fixed.  This proved to be a great solution.  On a new Macbook Pro with Lion,  I get an error when I try.  It says to do a restore from the recovery disk, but the recovery disk says it is a limited function OSX.  I would like a full OSX so they can continue to work and even copy files over if the internal disk is suffering intermittent failures enough not to boot but not enough to keep from copying files.  A few years ago one of the kids had a disk/boot failure duing finals but was able to boot from the external hard drive, copy over what he needed and access the internet so that he could finish the exams.  Time machine is great, but there are instances where you need a quick fix to keep going until the new hard drive arrives.

I do not run Windows, so I have no idea how to handle that type of situation.
But, just to be clear: disregarding Windows, the recovery option downloads the OS and installs it. Technically, that is not a clone unless you copy the installer and create a bootable OS with it. A clone is an exact copy of your system including all your apps, user settings, files, etc, etc and will exist on an external hard drive in addition to your system on your internal - that is done with CCC or SuperDuper.
And, a GUID partition is created in Disk Utility > click on the drive > choose Partition > choose a layout other than what you now have > there will be a clickable Options button below. Click on that and you can choose GUID. Note: partitioning your drive will erase everything on it.

  • How do I create an Array of Images

    Hi,
I'm creating a program that basically is a slideshow. It has buttons that allow the user to switch from image to image, and has some audio in the background. I was wondering how I might create an array to store the images. I'm very new to Java, so please no detail is too small. I've just started using arrays, so I'm not sure where I would store the files or how to call the images. Please be descriptive and as dumbed down as possible :)
    Thanks for the help!

    I like ArrayList
ArrayList<BufferedImage> myPics = new ArrayList();then just dump them in with add(myBufferedImage)
If you'e not using BufferedImages then just change the BufferedImage to Image.
to get, say the 6th image back out, then use:
    myBufferedImage = myPics.get(5);the index starts at 0 and should be addressed as 0 to (myPics.length - 1)

  • How do I create a bootable USB Drive to install Windows 7 on a MBP Retina

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a MBP Retina.(I'm running Mountain Lion)  I followed BootCamp's directions to create a bootable copy of Windows on a USB Flash Drive.  When I go to install, Boot Camp creates the partition, but I get a Windows black screen that says that "there is no bootable drive - hit any key".  I have to force shut down, because hitting any key does nothing.  I tried the Bootcamp directions at least 3 times, but have been unable to get the USB Drive to start up the Install program.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How can I create a single background image for a BorderLayout?

I can create a background with an image file for the individual panel (North, West, Center, East and South) in a BorderLayout, but I've been spinning my wheel for a long while now trying to figure out how to create just one background with a single image file for all of these panels?
In my application, a panel may contain various buttons, a listbox, a group of checkboxes, a combo box, or a canvas. Even if I used the same image file, when the panels are finally put together, one can clearly see that the end product is the result of a lot of patch works.
Hope someone has an answer for this. BTW, I'm using AWT because it works with existing browsers without the need for a separate Java plug-in.

  • How can I create a bootable DISK IMAGE of my PB Internal Drive?

I would like to make a bootable image of my Hard Drive but without including any Free Space.
You see all I need on the image are the OSX and the programs, NOT the 60GB of Free Space. Disk Utility however wants to create a 80gb image which includes 60GB of Free Space.
I would like to use the Bootable image as a source image to use with the RESTORE function in Disk Utility.
    Regards

You'll need a second machine or an external HDD with Mac OS X installed on it.
For purposes of this procedure I'll be calling your machine the 'source' and the second machine or your external HDD the 'target'.
First either boot the source into target mode by holding down the 'T' key while it boots. Once you see the FireWire icon on the screen, let go of the 'T' key and plug the source into the target. If you're going with the external HDD route, boot your source of off your external HDD.
Now, select the drive of your source machine, and hit Apple-I to bring up the information pane. Down at the bottom (in the permissions area) you'll see a check box labeled "Ignore ownership..." Uncheck that.
Open up Disk Utility. Select the source drive and run First Aid and Repair Permissions on it.
Now, select the File menu -> New -> New Disk Image from Folder. You're going to want to hit that big "New Image" button, but don't. Trust me. It'll only cause trouble for you down the road.
Select the source drive as the source. You can leave everything else the same and click "Image".
Select the target as the destination. Click Save.
Wait for a couple of hours (depending on how much stuff you have).
When it's done, select the Images menu -> Scan image for Restore.
Select the disk image you just made and click "Scan".
When that's done you have a restorable image. Just use the restore tab to restore it.
I've done this literally hundreds of times and it's worked every single time.

  • How can I create a jpeg thumbnail image?

I'd like to create a clear jpeg thumbnail image of the first page of a document created in InDesign.  It will be used in Constant Contact as a link to the online version of the document.  (Constant Contact doesn't take JPEG's)
I especially need help making it crisp and clear.
    Thank you!

And there will be occasions when it's not better, and there are alternative ways to get better results.
You may not have tested every situation and font, but I've done enough to know that sometimes it doesn't work as expected. And it wasn't a "challenge", it was an observation.
Here's 3 ways to make a JPEG - and the one that is the best is the one that was exported to PDF and then opened in Photoshop and then Saved as a JPEG.
    .........Direct Export .........................Export PDF................................Export PDF
.....to JPEG.from ID.....................Open in Photoshop.............Save to JPEG from Acrobat.
(EDIT - The forum is adding extra compression to the images - I assure you the middle image is the best)

  • How do I create a High Quality Image with a low file size???

    Dear All,
I am creating an invitation in Illustrator which I then place into photshop to create a JPEG. I want to create a high quality JPEG version of it but with a low file size because I am emailing the invitation. Am I correct in placing the image into photshop or should I export it from Illustrator.
The image is built of of vectors and one JPEG but they are not high in quality.
    Can anyone help me please
    Thanks
    Ben

The image is built of of vectors and one JPEG but they are not high in quality.
For this type of image you would probably be better choosing GIF format (now known for some reason as 'Compuserve GIF'). Taking the number of "colors' down untl it still looks high quality, and anti-aliasing is preserved.
