How do I diagnose buffering and freezing problems?

My home business uses flash player to stream horse race videos from four different sites for several hours every day.  How can I diagnose recurring yet unpredictable slow downs, buffering, freezing, even Flash Player crashing?   Here are the specifics:
We use Chrome, IE and Firebox browsers.  We have problems on all the browsers.
All computers in our house have problems but the primary one is: Vista Home Premium 64 bit, Windows 6.0 sp2, 4GB memory.
Our connection screams at 20GB down, 5GBup.  I run Internet speed tests during the slowdowns and we are still at this level. The main computer is hard wired into the router, all others are wireless.
Flash Player is used by all four internet sites. All are running at the lastest release version.
I have disabled hardware accelerator, checked the cache setting, etc.
We work in two modes: 1 - streaming live video from the race track.  2 - Playing archived race replays from a replay service during which we pause and rewind extensively.
Some days we have almost no buffering problems, other days the buffering is unmanageable.
Some days (during replay watching) Flash Player freezes and crashes many times, other days there is no problem.
A few months ago, there was almost no problem.  Over time things have gotten progressively worse.
How can I determine if Flash Player is the problem? Are there ways of getting throughput statistics from Flash? How can I determine the bottleneck or problem area?

The only possible ways to get a virus are:
-Jailbreak
-Downloading an app that is not from the App Store.
Other than that, your iPhone is fine.

  • Skype constantly buffers and freezes on my phone (...

My phone constantly buffers and freezes. I have a Nokia Lumia 530 phone and I'm always having problems.

This phone is probably not the best one for Skype, but if you were using 3G then please try to use Skype over Wifi. Also make sure you have the latest Skype for Android.
If the call quality is still not good and constantly dropping out then you may request a refund. There's not much we can do on our side regarding connection.

  • How to configure multiple buffers and execute them sequentially?

I would like to build up a path follower using at least two buffers. I wish to write data into the buffers in advance and then execute them sequentially. How can I do?
I have tried the case for using two buffers, and could only get the two buffers to work "sequentially",
which means that I could first write data into buffer 1, then execute it, then write data to buffer 2,
then execute it. Is there any way that I could use multiple buffers and exectue them as the sequence as
    I want?
The following are the steps that I used for dual buffers:
    buffer 1:
    flex_set_op_mode
    flex_configure_buffer
    flex_write_buffer (check ready)
    flex_start (check complete)
    buffer 2:
    flex_set_op_m
    ode
    flex_configure_buffer
    flex_write_buffer (check ready)
    flex_start (check complete)
I wish to achieve the following:
    flex_configure_buffer (buffer 1 & 2)
    flex_write_buffer (to buffer 1)
    flex_start (buffer 1)
while waiting (flex_write_buffer (to buffer 2))
    flex_start (buffer 2)
The purpose of my using two buffers is to try to prepare data for buffer 2 when we are waiting
for the execution of buffer 1 and we could execute buffer 2 almost immediately when buffer 1 was
done. Apparently, I have tried and with no luck to get it to work.

You can always configure a buffer for indefinite continuous operation by setting the total points value in the configure buffer function to be the maximum value allowed. You can the use the check buffer function inside the while loop to monitor the backlog of your buffer in order for enough positions to be avaliable for the next set of points to be downloaded. As long as your sets of data are of a smaller size than the total buffer size this will have the effect you are desiring. You can always make your precalculations for the next set of points while the previous move is being executed, you just need to allow enough time between the beginning and the end of your first move for the next calculation to be done.

  • Lumia 920 restaring and freezing problem !!!

    dear sir/madam,
I have bought Nokia Lumia 920 four months back. I have been facing restart problem the day I bought it. I went to Nokia care twice (khobar,SA). But still im facing the same issue. Every day it restarts 2 to 3 times. And sometimes im facing freezing problem also...once it get freezes I need to do hard reset, whenevr I do the reset, time and date changes to Sept 2012. Its really annoying. I'm fed up of using this phone. And im not at all satisfied with the service. When evryone was suggesting me to go for iPhone 5, I stood on Nokia Lumia 920. But these issues makes me to feel that I took a wrong decision. I had spent too much money this mobile but not worth it. I need to travel 100kms to reach Nokia care. That too on working days. Please make it worth when I go next time. Else I will SWITCH TO IPHONE!!!

now my phone got freezed and not booting up...i tried hard reset everything still..its dead from d past 2 days....pls help

  • [SOLVED] XFCE4.10 main panel and freeze problem

    Hello everyone.
I just have upgraded to XFCE4.10 and after rebooting (as the update included also a new kernel) the main panel is double its size just like the icons. I would have included a screenshot but here is where my second problem appears.
Whenever I try to open a window the system just freezes.
The strange thing is that when I try random things (checking 'Appearance' to see if my Oxygen theme wasn't working anymore with 4.10 or fixing the missing 'Separator' issue for correct window display - former freezed though after clicking on 'Accept') it works but the 'real' things (opening browser - both from applications menu or xfce shortcut panel - or Thunar) do not.
I also noted that when trying to save the 'Separator' fix when I hit the actions button to close the session I was directly just given that option instead of displaying the full menu of restart etc.
Should I consider this a new issue or something I have to setup in 4.10 in comparison to 4.8 where it work perfectly?
I am considering a kernel downgrade to see if it fixes the freeze issue though I doubt, if it does, it would relate to the panel size issue (or that 'only close session' allowance that I have just referred to). The reason for not having tried the downgrade yet is that the system apparently works fine as long as I do not open any window "for real", as said.
    Any suggestions?

%$$& Wrote everything nicely down and got logged out xD
Let's see how much I remember.
First of all, right now writing from my downgraded 3.3.3-1 kernel. I didn't succeed doing the downgrade while the 3.3.4-1 was loaded thus I had to do it using the change root method. That way I also discovered the, apparent, reason for the user modules fail at startup and the freezing at the login screen I reported in #3. Somehow the system was using the 3.3.3-1 kernel (I do not know when it installed successfully) but the 3.3.4-1 headers. Most likely I made a mistake somewhere during my previous change root attempt when fixing a *new* unable to find root device that popped up then.
As said, I have been able to downgrade using the Arch Install CD and through the change root method but received the warning,
    directory permissions differ on usr/src/linux-3.3.3-1-ARCH/
    filesystem: 700 package: 755
after the install/downgrade of each package (linux-docs, linux-headers and linux). Should I consider this a new problem? System works fine so far thus I am not sure about this.
Prior to successfully downgrading I tried to install the LTS kernel but wasn't successful with the 3.3.4-1 kernel loaded. Just like with the downgrade I tried using the change root method and could install it.
But despite updating grub's menu.lst accordingly I was receiving an 'unable to find root device message' which could not be fixed through the change root method just like with the 3.3.4-1 kernel (in case of the LTS one changing the final step from mkinitcpio -p linux to mkinitcpio -p linux-lts as far as I understand it). I might give it another try installing it in this working environment later on and report back with the results.
    @ConnorBehan
As I have just stated the user modules fail message and the login screen freeze were surely my fault but the error messages I referred to from the beginning with the 3.3.4-1 kernel were like these,
    .... = increasing numbers/disk sectors(?) (left/right)

    @foutrelis
You may be right with regard to the drive as it is a quite old laptop I am running Arch on. Now that you refer to the drive could the freeze/errors I reported to ConnorBehan be related to the tweaking of the vm.vfs_cache_pressure value I did?
I am just taking a wild guess myself comparing my ide drive to your ssd one. I had never had this kind of problem prior to 3.3.4-1. Just as if this kernel could not handle my tweak anymore (value is 50 and worked fine so far).

  • Can anyone advise how to resolve the 'unexpected and unrecoverable problem..?

I am running PS CS5 in Windows 7 and it has been
fine for six months. It now presents the dreaded 'unexpected...' error messages and crashes on start-up, also freezing the interface so I cannot close it. Can anyone suggest the best course of action to resolve this. I also ruun Lightroom 3 and InDesign and both of these work fine.
    Thanks in anticipation

You might want to try to move forward first, and failing that drop back.
What I mean is that you should try these things, and test after each one to see if the problem is resolved.
    1.  Bring all software and drivers up to date.  For example, visit the web site of the maker of your video card and download / install their driver that matches your video card and operating system.  If you can, choose Help - Updates... in Photoshop, and if you can't go to the Adobe site and download the latest update manually.
    2.  Clear Photoshop's preferences to defaults by pressing and holding Control - Shift - Alt immediately after cold-starting Photoshop from its menu entry or shortcut.  If you're quick enough, it will prompt you to confirm deletion of the current settings.  Note that you'll have to review and remake your personal preference customizations, though if you save a named Workspace prior to doing this you can restore it to get your panel positions back.
    3.  Deconfigure OpenGL Drawing by going into Edit - Preferences - Performance and unchecking the [ ] Enable OpenGL Drawing setting.  Remember to restart Photoshop before testing this.
    4.  Use your Windows System Restore function to drop your system configuration back to a date when you know the software was working.  This assumes something on your system has changed making Photoshop unworkable.
    Good luck.

  • Crashing and freezing problem

Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.3 with Cloud Software, my applications/programs keep freezing, crashing, or becoming unresponsive.
Please let me know if there is anything I could do to fix this.
I updated everything on my iPhone and Mac, so that's not the problem.
I also had an issue with computer going into deep sleep and not waking up unless I help the Power Button to shut it down and then the Power button again to start it back up.  I use to schedule it to go to sleep at midnight, but since nothing I did fixed the problem, I have change the settings to just shut down at midnight now.
I like the whole idea of Cloud Based Software, but its not working properly and I have all sorts of issues now.
PLEASE HELP, and thanks in advance.

Maybe this will help with the sleep issue:
    Sleep - Wakeup
    Your profile shows 10.8.2.
If reinstalling the updater doesn't fix things, hereb are some other troubleshooting recommendations:
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • ATV Streaming MP4 HD over network constantly buffering and freezing help

Hi so the problem is the bulk of my collection of movies are in h264 MP4, and I don't sync movies to the Apple TV it's mainly a streaming tool to my tv. The problem is it's buffering the movie every 20 minutes so it pauses and a few minutes later it resumes. The strange thing is, that my network is gigabit. So it shouldn't have this issue. Another strange issue is it doesn't do this instantly when I first turned it on this morning it played through an entire movie without hitching. But later it started re-buffering I would like to believe it's over heating but I have no idea. Apple Geniuses have been less than helpful I brought it in they say nothing wrong with it. But the issue persist any ideas on what the issue is? Thanks for any help.

I've just had the same thing start happening on my network. iTunes library is about 1.7 TB on a software RAID connected via USB and managed by a MacBook CoreDuo with 1 GB RAM. Over the last couple of weeks, I've been noticing increasing cases of buffering, getting up to about a 40 second buffer every five minutes yesterday while watching a 45 minute show. I'd written it off to network issues (even though the ATV is ethernet into a hub with the MacBook), but yesterday my daughter was watching a movie on my other ATV (connected by 802.11G) and complained that her movie was pausing at exactly the same time as mine. Leads me to believe it's my Mac, not the ATVs or network... Going to try upping the MacBook's RAM to 2GB this week to see if it fixes it, but is it possible that my library is just too big to manage?

  • Tv buffering and freezing

i have had problems with internet stopping for 2 months now my on demand tv keeps stopping
totaly fed up been on phone every night ive pushed all the buttons reset wires hooked up shut everything off but cat  seems to happen before 5pm till about midnight
was told could have tech person come out but if my fault would cost £130.00
    back to talk talk
    bigfrank

    Hi frank ,
Could you try a couple of things to see if it solves the problem ? ( and hopefully save the said 130£)
Firstly, I hope you have done the speedtest to confirm you are indeed receiving the necessary speeds.
    1. Can you restart the hub by holding down the restart button for about 10 seconds until the lights start to flash ?
    2. Can you reset the HUB to the factory settings ? There should be a pinhole of sorts behind the hub which would reset it to the factory settings. I suggest you locate the original password list close before you do this.
    3. Can you make sure there are no other computers connected to the Hub (wired or wireless ) and then see if the picture keeps freezing ?
Let us know if anything works at all.

  • IMac - spinning beach ball and freezing problems

I've had my white-screen Intel processor iMac for almost two years and its run incredibly well up until the last couple of weeks. Now whenever I switch applications, click on menus, play videos, etc the spinning beach ball appears on the screen for up to two minutes at a time. In some cases it gets so bad the computer needs to have a hard shut down.
This seems to happen in every application so its not only occurring when I'm doing certain tasks. When the beach ball appears it even pauses a song if its playing in iTunes.
I've already done a Command-S boot and also tried disk utility and both are telling me there aren't any hard drive problems.
Is anyone else having this kind of trouble? thanks

I'm having the same problem, but on my MacBook Pro... just started today. I'm even having a hard time filling out this web form.
I've run the UNIX maint scripts, repaired permissions, rebooted, everything simple... plenty of free ram, plenty of free HD space (53GB), no CPU usage (2-5% background stuff), no network traffic... just trying to use my Intel MacBook Pro...
    Help!?

  • Dreamweaver locks up and freezes problem for Adobe

I tried to use the Adobe support process using Dreamweaver however I arrived at a "page not found" using their process.  Not the first time this has happened.  Super frustrated right now just trying to let Adobe know of a problem so I am going to drop the information here for them to find.  If it is the wrong place I apologize and please have them move it to the appropriate area as I will not return.
    Details:
Using Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Windows 7 platform which has all the windows update done.
    My error message:
While executing DW_WordWrap checked in toolbars.xml, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
    TypeError: dw.getDocumentDOM() has no properties
I could not get rid of the message, as it would come back every time I clicked on the "x" to close it.  I tried everything I could to close it but it kept coming back.  I finally had to give it the old Control/Alt/Delete to force Dreamweaver to shut down.
I was working on a page on my computer which was still in an .html format.  I was working on a page with a Spry.Widget Tool for Tabbed Panels.
I decided to go to another page I was working on and this is when I got the error message...when I clicked on the other page I wanted to go to.  I had used both pages in my current work stage and had gone back and forth numerous times before this error.  The tabs and Spry widget worked fine so I was surprised at the timing of the error.
This is the NOT the first time I have had error messages and then Dreamweaver locks up.
However, it is so hard to send error messages to Adobe I just shrug my shoulders and say to heck with it.  So we will see where this goes.  Hopefully Adobe can run with this or will see it here.
    Thanks,
    Daryl
I can be contacted through my login profile.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var TabbedPanels1 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels1");
    </script>

same issue here - i get it almost once a day.
    i dont use spry.
often if i press OK enough - it will eventually stop appearing, though sometimes i have had to force the application to shut down.

    What does this mean???

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
When the CPU is constantly referred to by kernel panics, and no other part of the machine is, it normally is a RAM or logicboard issue. Sometimes if the RAM or another board is not properly seated, this will happen. Just be certain, dismount, and disconnect all third party peripherals, and see if the issue persists. Make sure your hard drive isn't over 85% full (an arbitrary number), and your data is backed up. If after that is done, you can't seem to stop the kernel panics, run the hardware test disk that came with your machine. If you are missing that disk, contact the person who sold you the machine for the disk, or call AppleCare at the number below:
    http://www.apple.com/contact/phone_contacts.html
You didn't say if you are running an Intel or PowerPC iMac. Running the hardware test from Intel Macs is on this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303081
Newer PowerPC iMacs on this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86287
Older PowerPC iMacs came with their own hardware test CD which is bootable with the startup manager:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106178
To identify PowerPC versus Intel iMacs, see this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301724
If no error appears on hardware test, the problem can still be the RAM. But tell us the status of your backup before you start opening your machine. There are other issues which may be present.

  • Restarts and freezing problems

I've owned this iMac for exactly 2 days. In these 2 days, I have had to restart--or the computer suddenly restarts itself--nearly 20 times. It's driving me insane. I have repeatedly lost my work. I can't maintain a wifi connection either. I've tried what the forums recommend for that (renew DHCP, set MTU to 1453) and it hasn't helped at all. I've read that Mountain Lion itself is problematic. Should I change to Lion? Wait it out and save every few minutes in fear of another shutdown? My computer came with Mountain Lion, but no OS disc, so I'm not sure what to do.
    Stats:
    iMac 27"
    1TB HD
    4GB memory
    Mountain Lion OS
I know it's not running particularly hot.
The freezing seems to happen when I click too fast in succession, though not always. Doesn't matter if it's processor intensive or not. Sometimes I can run the computer for a few hours, other times it freezes in the first few minutes. I'm really disappointed with Apple. This is completely unacceptable.
    HELP!

Call phone support. You get 90 days free and it will generate a service record incase you got a lemon out of the box.

  • Keyboard or right hand bottom area not working...how do I fix?  And update problems.

My keyboard will not type the letters M, I, J and sometimes the letters around.  I can turn it horizontal and it works, except that area.  I think it is a spot on the the right side of phone that is just not working touch-wise.  Anyone heard of this?  I did a hard restart and it still did not fix.  I also tried to update it through iTunes and now iTunes will not let me get the newest download.  It gets stuck at "Backing up iPhone".  It is very frustrating!

Have you tried to reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.  If that hasn't/doesn't work try a restore from back up - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
