How do I get my HP Officejet Pro 8500 won't print from a program called "The Print Shop 12"?

I can not get my printer to print from this one program I have called "The Print Shop 12." I don't get an error message, it acts like it want to print but then nothing.

I do not know about the Print Shop program but I know that sometimes quickbooks has this issue. We have two different work around for this, 1st one  Click your start button go to your printer & devices folder and right click the 8500 printer and either RENAME it or go to Properties to Rename is to OJ8500 and then Apply and safe that change and try it.
2nd step if that does not work, click start, go back to the printers and faxes and "add a printer" when you get to the list of manufactures click HP or Hewlett-Packard and look for the deskjet ICC printer and add it, naming it PrintShop and then you should be able to printer threw that program.

I'm using an  iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013) running Yosemite. I spent hours on the phone with HP who did their best and thought they had solved the problem Now it has stopped printing completely. Just says 'idle' or' connecting to printer' but never does.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 won't install

My HP Officejet Pro 8500 won't install on my second Macbook Air (while it did on my first; both new Macbooks with up to date software).
The message I get is: "Softwareaktualisierung kann aufgrund eines Netzwerkproblems nicht nach Updates suchen." (Update software is unable to search for updates due to network problems). But the network just works fine, as does the software update when approached by the apple menu. Everything can be accessed without any problem - except this driver.
It also does not help to download the OS X drivers from HP - this also won't install the printer, probably for the same reason.

For some unknown reasons, it now worked via the general software update (after I got 50 error messages before).

HP Officejet pro 8500 won't print and keeps asking for a proxy setting. Help.

    Hi,
Can you confirm that you have an Officejet 8500a or Officejet 8500? On the 8500a model, you can set the networks proxy address and port setting from the front panel of the printer (setup>Webservices setup>proxy). If you are unsure what your proxy settings are you'll need to contact your network admin. If your network uses a proxy users name and password for all devices, you need to enter this information along with the proxy address and port in the printers embedded web server. Type the products IP address into an internet brownser window (printer must be connected to the same network as PC). Select the network tab, and than look for the proxy settings option. Enter in the information and click apply. Once the networks proxy information has been correctly inputed into the embedded web server, try printing again. If unsuccessfully, you might try reinstalling the printer software after uninstalling it. Hope this helps!

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 won't print if one cartridge is empty?

    Hi,
I have an OfficeJet Pro 8500 printer. I  woudn't really need color printing. My yellow catridge run out of ink, and the printer woudn't allow me to print at all since I don't purchase a new cartridge. If it's true, quite sad from a company that is "committed to providing quality products in an environmentally sound manner".
    Thanks for your help.

The Officejet Pro 8500 pigmented ink (like paint) and a separate printhead and ink supplies with plumbing to connect them.  Some color ink is required to keep the printheads from clogging.
HP wants your printer to be able to print after you replace the supplies.  There are some workarounds to force the printer to allow printing even with empty color cartridges, but doing this will likely ruin the printhead and preclude later color printing without replacing the printhead.  In the 8500 one printhead is used for Black and Yellow, the other is Cyan and Magenta.  The printheads are $65 each, personally I would not suggest overriding the protection as described in this post.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 - won't go to "sleep" anymore / occasional mechanical noise

    Hi-
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one wired network printer.  Until recently, it used to go into a "sleep" type mode where the screen would go blank and I assume it would entered some sort of power saving mode.  Recently, it has stopped doing that.  It doesn't every go into sleep mode now, and every 15 mintues or so, it makes a mechanical noise like the moving portion  of the printer is cycling briefly on and off.
I don't necessarily care that it doesn't go to sleep, but what concerns me is that the print head "cycling" (for lack of a better term) occuring over and over, every day, for months on end will eventually lead to wear and tear and failure.  Is there any way to "force" the printer to go to sleep, or somehow set it up so that it goes into some sort of "sleep" mode after XX amount of minutes?
    Thanks!

That is an odd problem, for the most part and like me I am having the exact opposite problem. Once it goes into sleep mode my printer will not even wake up I have to reboot the whole thing. I would say try going and enabling the energy saving mode again and see if that helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 : Use scanner without print heads/cartridges

    Hello.
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 (CB023A) that I bought specifically because of the automatic duplex scanner. Buying a scanner with automatic duplex instead of this multifunction printer was out of the question because the cheapest one costed over ten times more than this multifunction printer (and they still do).
I can no longer afford to keep buying print heads and cartridges just to use the scanner, as this multifunction uses ink for scanning!!! But that is beside the point.
I have read in other posts about taping sensors but I was thinking about going a little further and completely remove the printing part of the multifunction. Anyone knows if I can just disconnect the printing part from the circuit board? Or will I have to fiddle with software? Maybe some hidden option in the "Mfg Commands" (accessible by pressing * and # with the printer on) or some other hidden feature?
Considering that this multifunction takes way too long to boot because of all the print head checking/cleaning/etc, with a little luck, without the printing part the boot time will decrease to almost nothing .
Before I start disassembling I would appreciate some advice, specially if someone else has already tried it.
    Thank you in advance.

Hello kamath27. Thank you for your reply.
I apologize for not replying sooner but I wanted to try and disassemble the multifunction before replying instead of just replying with an acknowledge.
Also, sorry for such a long post but I wanted to be as detailed as possible.
However, before describing what I did and found, I want to clarify something.
With the multifunction in the same condition it came from the factory, if I remove one print cartridge, or one is empty, the multifunction stops on boot with a message requesting to change the cartridge before continuing and there is no way to bypass it. When this message shows, pressing any button on the multifunction or the screen yields no result (there is no OK button displayed on the multifunction screen). It was always like this and firmware updates never solved it.
And going to the printer control panel on the connected computer says that the printer is offline even if it is connected through USB and is displayed in device manager as a connected USB device. This is the reason why I had spent so much money buying ink that I do not use. I never print anything on this multifunction. All prints that the multifunction ever performed were a dozen or so of maintenance align and test pages.
Now for what I did. I disassembled the multifunction just enough to take out the main circuit board, the wireless board, the buzzer and the door sensors. I set up the printer half and the scanner half side-by-side with the main circuit board in the middle, reconnected everything and turned it on in order to test if anything stopped working during disassembly. Everything was OK and the multifunction worked as normal (printed a test page and scanned it to the computer).
Next, while facing the main board the same way it would be faced while mounted in the multifunction, I started disconnecting the connectors (except the ones that belong to the scanner half) one by one from left to right in the following fashion: With the multifunction OFF, I disconnected one connector, turned the multifunction on, waited for any message or the main screen, tried to print a test page and then scan it, and finally disconnected the multifunction, reconnected the connector and moved on to the next one.
    The results were:
    - disconnected the tray feeding sensor -> Allows to boot with a paper jam message that can be bypassed with an OK on the screen. Can not print because of the alleged paper jam but can scan.
    - disconnected the pump -> Allows to boot but a message keeps popping about pump motor stalled. Can be bypassed with an OK but pops right back and all jobs get aborted. Can not print or scan.
    - disconnected the printer motor -> Oddly, no messages. Allows to boot and scan but not print. This was strange because when trying to print there is no message in the printer and the software on the PC only said the printer was busy. I would think the printer would eventually display a message saying the print carriage was jammed or something but nothing happened after 10 minutes. I might test again later as one test may be interfering with the next.
    - disconnected the print cartridge door sensor -> Stops on boot with a message to close the door. Does not allow to print or scan.
    - disconnected the print cartridges connector -> Stops on boot with message to replace cartridges. Does not allow to print or scan.
    - disconnected the print heads connector -> On boot briefly displays a screen with the image of the power button and the code "C00E0060" below. Then the screen turns white and all buttons on the multifunction start blinking. It is as described here but resetting the multifunction, reconnecting the connector and turning it on took it back to operational condition.
    - disconnected everything except for the scanner connectors and the tray and door sensors - Gives the exact same behaviour as the previous test (code "C00E0060").
So, from the tests it seems that I can not use the scanner if anything from the printer half is disconnected. Any ideas on how to circumvent this, if possible?
    Thank you.

  • Epson Workforce 500 and HP  OfficeJet Pro 8500 - "Printer Offline"

This week I downloaded an Epson printer driver update from Apple's Software Update. I use an Epson Workforce 500 with my Mac Mini computer at my office. Since installing Snow Leopard originally I had experienced no problems with the printer but assumed that if Apple was telling me to install a driver update, I should do so. Big mistake!
After installing the driver update I was unable to print anything. When attempting to print a page from Safari or MIcrosoft Word, everything initially seemed ok, until I saw my printer icon bouncing in the Dock with a yellow symbol indicating "Printer Offline." After searching the Apple site and various discussion boards I spent an entire afternoon attempting all of the recommended fixes with no results. Since I cannot operate my business without a printer, I decided to simply purchase a new printer hoping that this was simply an Epson problem.
I am now the proud owner of an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One. Unfortunately I am still suffering from the "Printer Offline" message whenever I attempt to print anything. After spending another afternoon on the phone with a tech support person from HP, I am still unable to print. I have done all of the following:
Disconnected and reconnected all cables between the computer and the printer.
Switched the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
Restarted the computer and the printer.
Unplugged and replugged the computer to reset it.
Checked to confirm that the printer does show up under USB on the System Profiler.
Deleted any old print jobs in the print queue and made certain that the printer was not in pause mode.
Tried to print from various programs with the same result.
Although this printer does appear in the printer list, deleted it and then added it again under the Printer and Fax area of System Preferences.
Uninstalled the HP printer driver, restarted the computer, downloaded HP's latest driver for this computer from their website under the instruction of HP's tech support person and reinstalled this driver and again performing all of the above.
    Repaired disk permissions several times.
Reset the printing system under the Printer and Fax area of System Preferences.
I have been unable to find any further possible fixes in any of the discussion boards either on the Apple or the HP site. After doing everything listed here the HP tech support person felt that the problem must be with Apple rather than HP since the problem developed initially after the Epson printer update and then occurred with both the Epson and the HP printers.
I have an appointment later today with an Apple Genius at my local Apple store to see if I can get any advice. Any suggestions from anyone on this board would be greatly appreciated since I do need my printer to carry on in my business. At this point I am desperate to the point of considering the replacement of my computer but am hesitant to do so suspecting that the new models should be released soon.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Try downloading and installing the 10.6.1 combo update. It's OK to do this even though you are already running 10.6.1. One of the "fixes" .. "some printer compatibility drivers not appearing properly in the add printer browser"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL930
Make sure and repair disk permissions after the installation.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Always make sure your Mac has sufficient disk space available.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

  • Why does my HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 no longer support Airprint?

My HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 suddenly does not support Airprint. It prints normally from Windows based devices. Has IOS stopped supporting this printer?

I don't see it in the list here: About AirPrint so my guess would be it is not supported.
This document from HP shows that it is compatible so you need to contact them to find out if it should be working and how to fix it.
