iPhone went bad after software update - iPhone 5 is now stuck on Itunes connect and has vertical lines.
I found a video on youtube with similar issues - http://youtu.be/Xuuqxx18-bA
EVERYTHING HAS BEEN TRIED: Restore, Reboot, Recycle, Replacing Cables, etc....
I don't have Apple Care, what to do? Spend more money and buy a new phone?

Here is another person who has a problem with the iPhone 5 screen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc1ZPWSA8dc and they have just received them NEW!!!!!
I myself, two days ago purchased a  2nd hand iPhone 5 that was advertised as having a line of squares at the bottom of the screen. I Googled it and found people saying it was a screen issue and to replace the screen, so I did this and it is still happening with a new screen.
I am starting to dislike Apple intensely after reading forum posts and watching videos where people are asking for help and telling us about issues that they are having with their phones.
Why is Apple getting it so wrong with their updates and manufacturing that they are completely destroying iPhones that cost a lot of money and then expecting the owner to purchase another phone unless they are still in warranty.
Apple you should be going out of your way to put things right for people but instead there is a wall of silence over so many of the issues destroying peoples phones.
    SHAME ON YOU!

  • How do I get itunes giftcard money back after an update earased it?

I stupidly updated my itunes for my ipod touch. It wiped out all of my apps and all of the money I had as itunes gift cards. I have synced it over and over, and othing comes back. how do i get everythig that was on my account and ipod back? I also leave for a long time tomorrow so I need to know as soon as possible. Thanks

You can redownload iTunes purchaes by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Any Gift Card balance is in your iTunes account which is in an Apple sever. It is not on the iPod so erasing the iPod will not effect your iTunes balance.

  • Unable to Reboot After Software Update - Unable to Reinstall Mac OS 10.4.10

    Hello,
I just bought a Macmini 9 months ago, and I believe I may need to either erase the HD to reinstall the original Mac OS (10.4.10) or else replace it. However, I am not familiar with Mac and don't know how to reformat the disk. Can anyone help?
Each time there is a software update, I experience problems starting up from the HD. After the last update a few days ago, I am unable to start up from the HD at all. I tried using the original install CD 1 to reinstall Mac OS 10.4.10 with archiving. However, I received an error saying "unable to install because there is a newer version already installed." Therefore, I tried to start up from the HD again by pressing Option key at startup, but the Macmini continously turned off by itself without rebooting. I tried reinstalling Mac OS with the erase option, but it failed. After that, the Mac OS install CD1 only gives me the option to reinstall additional applications, but when I select continue, there is not HD shown to install the applications.
Disk Utility First Aid on CD1 was unable to repair the disk. I received the following messages: "Invalid sibling link", "Volume check failed", "The underlying task reported failure on exit", "1 HFS volume checked", "1 volume could not be repaired because of an error."
At the bottom of the page under Disk Utility, the following information about the disk is available. Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled); Capacity: 111.5 GB (119,690,149,888 Bytes); Available: - ; Used: - ; Number of Files: - ; Owners Enabled: - ; Number of Folders: - .
System Profiler is able to identify type, disk identifier, file system, etc. It shows the volume supports journaling, but is not journaled.
Scan Image for Restore shows Library_Preferences (Empty), and Root applications are all grayed out.
I performed the Apple Hardware Test (ver 3A129) by pressing D at startup. The test ran for 5 minutes and 6 seconds. It reported "No trouble found".
It seems the HD is empty, but the install CD is not offering any options to reinstall the OS, only the additional applications. I believe it is a partition error, but I am not familiar with Mac and hesitate to proceed any further.
How do I reformat the disk so that I can reinstall the original Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5?
Your help is sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

    Good news!
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.

  • Force software reboots after Software Updates install, and do a WUA rescan upon reboot and install any remaining patches?

Running SCCM 2007 SP2 R3 and having two big issues with SUP that impacted us severely with the February patches.  An RDP patch from November broke our 2-factor authentication (2FA) method, so we stopped deployment until Microsoft could fix the
patch.  Rather than fixing the patch...they made a patch for the patch.
We divided our servers up into multiple Day/Time maintenance windows, like SUN, MON, TUE, and from 0200 to 0600 AM, and we run deployments weekly as needed.
There doesn't seem to be a way in SUP to "let SCCM control reboot" and ALWAYS reboot (whether the patches request it or not), and, as a result, we seem to have an awful lot of servers that are stuck at "reboot pending" after patch installation,
and have actually taken to using a third-party program to reboot the servers.
There also doesn't seem to be a way to force SCCM SUP to rescan the computer after the patch is applied until after a day...or, for servers, a week (from Mon to Mon, for example).
What happened this time around was that the first patch installed and broke 2FA, the second patch is not recognized as being needed until after a reboot and rescan--since that did not occur, it took up to a week to get the second patch installed (IF the
server ever was rebooted), which...was unacceptable.
    Soooo...how can I:
         1.  ALWAYS force SCCM to reboot after patching (60-min countdown if user logged-on), just like we do with our normal deployment advertisement, package, program.
         2.  Force a WUA scan after this reboot, so, if remaining patches from this patch group are needed, they get detected and installed, and hopefully this will all work within the 4-hour window (we might be able to extend it earlier,
    but, not past 0600).
    Thanks!

Thanks, Don.  OK, if there is a "reboot required" returned at the end of the patch deployment...shouldn't the computer then reboot?  We see a large number of computers with "reboot required" that never reboot.  Is there something wrong in
the setup to stop a reboot from occurring?
    Thanks.
It looks like you've continued the conversation with Jason and it's taken an interesting turn ;)
But, in the case where a reboot_required is the returned resultcode, CCM will look to your MW and deployment settings, and the context of the installation event (enforcement etc), to determine if the reboot request should be honoured or refused.
You should be able to see all the to-and-fro of this logic within the client logfiles, as it's occurring (or after the event).
If you do some spelunking into the logfiles, don't forget to look at windowsupdate.log (the WUAgent logfile), as that can, with the CCM logfiles, paint a more complete picture of the "flow of things".
This does all assume that the client machine is in a healthy and predictable state to begin with.
If there is already some other pending_reboot hiding in the background, or, WUAgent is running with it's own configuration (potentially fighting with CCM), or, it's Win8 with the "Automatic Maintenance" scheduled task, you can get some unexpected behaviour
(but usually that is unexpected reboot, rather than unexpected no-reboot)

  • Constant Reboot after software update

I just performed Software Update on my Leopard MacBook Pro and now it's in a constant reboot cycle. The grey boot up screen displays for 90 secs or so and then reboots and the cycle repeats. There were three programs for update but the only two I remember were iTunes & Front Row. How do I recover? Thanks.
    Kevin

Just to add some more detail to the issue:
I've reset the NVRAM by holding down the Option/Control - PR at bootup and it seemed to work in that it then rebooted again. But nothing else but the continuing reboot cycle.
Next I tried to get into Safe mode by holding down the Shift key on bootup but this did not work. I inserted the Leopard DVD on bootup but it just spins.
    Help!!!

  • Q10 stuck at reboot after software update - PLEASE HELP

    Hello
I was checking for software updates for my Q10 yesterday and was informed that there is a new update
I clicked on download and install, and it asked me to reboot when it was done. After that it loaded very slowly until it reached 99% 6 hours later and it remained like that for 12 hours
What I did this morning was remove the battery and sim card and I reinserted the battery, the same thing happened again and it is moving very very slowly
Can you please help?? I would rather find away in which I do not loose my BBM contacts since I have not backed up my phone...are the contacts stored on my blackberry ID or will I loose them if I reset the phone?
    Thank you very much

It finally powered on after 3 battery pulls, but now it does not make or receive calls (((
Everytime I connect it to blackberry link it says software update available, so I clicked on install, it said downloading update and then nothing happens, the download bar becomes full then nothing changes
I also tried to reload device software, i got a message saying checking repair software and it stayed like that for 3 hours then the device rebooted but nothing happened at all
I even tried redoing the software update from the phone itself 3 times, everytime it would say update successful but the phone would still not make or receive calls

  • Iphone and iphone 3G lagging after software update

Has anyone else had a problem with their iphones lagging since the latest update. I recently upgraded to an iphone 3G and gave my original iphone to my mother. I updated both phones to the latest dowload and ever since then there is a wait/lag when I tap an icon. This mainly happens when I go to contacts and/or text. Before I updated the phone was smooth as silk. Now, not so much!

Do a forum search as this topic has been covered many, many times.

  • How can I get my iPhone 4s fixed after a screen shatter then fix?

Watned to give my iPhone to my sistser for christmas because my parents said they'd get me a different iPhone 4s if i gave her my used one, but i dont want to give her a faulty phone so here's the whole story. HELP!
Purachased a iPhone 4s 16GB from Orange in the U.K in January.
Sometimes the back light goes and my screen goes dark as if it's on the lowest brightness setting! But when I go into the brightness & wallpaper tab it's on full so i just bring it down and up and its fine again for a week or so then does it again randomly!
My back screen cracked due to me dropping it (still worked not the end of the world)?
Then my lock button became jammed from time to time (not sure if before or after i cracked the back, pretty sure was before?) and now fully stops working so I have to use the assist feature to lock my phone and take screenshots.
    - Anyway, I left it as it was because I cracked the back screen I didn't think Apple would help to repair it for a good price. (First Apple product so newbie to their apparent good customer service)
So thennnn the other week my friend dropped it and shattered the front screen! couldnt use the camera and it started to literally fall off
Went into Kingston Upon Thames Apple Store and was told straight up by a member of staff standing there regardless it would cost £130 to replace the whole phone. Obviously they thought I smashed the whole thing and wanted a new one, but actually I just want it replaced on account of the lock button and brightness issue which is still an issue and happened BEFORE the smash but I was too stupid to ask for help.
So today I got the front and back screen replaced on the high street for £60. Half the Apple price but it works.
BUT I didn't pay the guy to fix the lock button and brightness issue as I'm short on cash atm and think he'd mess it up some how...
So I'm guessing the third-party fix voids my warranty? Fair enough.
But if I take it back to Apple on account of I want them to repair my lock button and brightness issue, will they just replace the whole thing?
I've booked a appointment for December 4th (nearest app -_-) and in the description it asks for when booking I just said the lock button and back screen is not working.
I won't mention the high street fix BUT If they notice I've replaced the front and back screen I'll confess and say yes" I want it to be a christmas present to my sister but couldn't afford to get it fixed with you."
Do you think they'll just charge me to fix the lock button or do a goodwill gesture or something and do the whole thing like they would of before i shattered the front screen? even though i got third party screens on it?
Really would prefer a whole new handset, this back light and lock button issue is really annoying and I know they won't believe that it happened before the phone shattered :(! They may be able to fix the lock button but the backlight? theyll probably think it happened because of the drop but it was before.
Any help, advice, or previous experiences with this issue would be great! Thankyou.

So even if I just ask to pay them to replace the lock button they won't because my screens are third-party?
Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement.  They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device.  Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now.  They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.
