  • How do i share a file so another user of my mac pro can access

    Hi
I have a file on my mac pro that I want others to use for presentations without them seeing all my private info.  I have set up a new user but how do I share the file the other user on my mac pro can see it?

Place the files you want to transfer on the Desktop
Click on the Finder or desktop to swtich to Finder, then Go > Computer, then double click on the boot drive, then on the Users folder.
Open the target User folder and inside is a Public folder > Drop Box, just drag and drop in there and the permissions change so that user can use the file.

Unable to Share a Data File Between Multiple Users on the Same System
Cause The Quicken Essentials data is a data package that contains multiple files.  Each item in the package has permission set based on the current users profile.  When the Package is moved to a shared folder, the permission in the data package are not changed, therefore cannot be accessed by another user.
You can change the permissions for each individual file within the data package to be accessed by other users.  However, the first user who opens the file after the permissions have been changed, will take ownership of the data package, and it will no longer be accessible by the other party again.
SolutionThis issue is currently a product limitation and is expected to be resolved in a future version of Quicken Essentials for Mac.

  • Why can't I share a Quicken file with another user on my mac?

I have a new mac. Used to have a pc  with ms money. it was set so that both my wife and I could open Money and work on the same file (our checkbook).
I get a "can't open file....no permission" message from Quicken if I try to open from my wife's login.
I have the file in the Shared folder and I manually went into File Sharing and set her up to read& write on that folder and file but I still get "no permission"
There has to be a way for 2 people to work on the same file, yes?

  • How can I transfer or make readable files from one user to another on the same iMac

I have migrated files from a windows PC to my Imac. The transferred files have been saved successfully against a new user (which I can access). How can I make those files available to the all users of my Imac?

In FINDER, drag and drop the files into the Public Folder.  All Users can then access those files.
    Hope this helps

  • How can I transfer my email address list to another user on my pc?

I want to transfer my email address book to my Admin user account? Can you help please?

To export an individual address book, try these steps:
From TB, click on 'Address Book' (or 3-bar menu -> Tools -> Address Book).
In the list of address books in the left pane, click on the one you want to export.
From the menu bar, select Tools -> Export. An new window 'Export Address Book' will open.
Near the lower right-hand corner, select LDIF.
Enter the file name and navigate to the folder where you want to store it. Click on 'Save'.
This will export only the selected address book and not the others.
Note 1: the file name of your LDIF file will become the name of the address book (e.g. AddrBook.ldif will produce an address book named 'AddrBook').
Then, for the Admin account, From TB, click on 'Address Book' (or 3-bar menu -> Tools -> Address Book).
In the list of address books in the left pane, click on the one you want to import (or use 'Personal Address Book').
From the menu bar, select Tools -> Import. An new window 'Import' will open.
Click on 'Address Books' and 'Next'.
    Highlight 'Text file', select 'Next'.
Navigate to the folder where your LDIF file is located. Left click on it once. Click on 'Open'.
Note 2: when you first look at the imported address book, it may be empty. Click on another one (such as 'Personal Address Book') and then go back to the imported one.

  • How can I transfer a CC Indesign license to another user?

I am the IT manager so I purchased two licenses at two different times. They are all associated with my online ID. When I try to use the new license I am told that my ID is aleady in use on two computers — my desktop and laptop which I am legally allowed to do as I use them at seperate times. The problem is I cannot use the new license and when I try to create an account for the new user, I am told that the license is not associated with that user. It should not matter how many times I am signed in when I have purchased mutlitple licenses.

We're just users and cannot help with licensing issues. You need to contact customer support.

how can i transfer my book library from my iPhone to my macbook?

If the books are in the iBooks app on your phone then you should be able to copy them over to your computer's iTunes (and then to the iBooks app if you have Mavericks on your Mac) via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases

  • I have a power pc (g5) computer that I will soon be replacing with a current i5 or i7 mini. How do I transfer the Time Machine files from the internal hard drive on the G5 to an external drive that I will later use with the Mini?

I have a Power PC G5 computer that I will soon be replacing with a current i5 or i7 Mini. How do I transfer the Time Machine files from the internal hard drive on the G5 to an external drive that I will later use with the Mini?

Hi, likely the easiest is to just poll the drive & get something like this...
    Get MacScan...
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/networking_security/macscan.html
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/U3NVSPATA/
But if you have a good external drive already, just clone it.
Get carbon copy cloner to make an exact copy of your old HD to the New one...

    Or SuperDuper...

how can i transfer the radio recording files from my Ipad to Computer ?

I was hopeful I could use home sharing to sync my iTunes libraries,
Unfortunately, you can only stream content to your iOS devices via home sharing (not sync it).
I'd have a check through the following user tip instead:

  • How can I transfer a big .pdf file e.g. 9 MB from my Macintosh Performa 5200 and its OS 8.1 to an USB-flash drive?

How can I transfer a big .pdf file e.g. 9 MB from my Macintosh Performa 5200 and its OS 8.1 to an USB flash drive? E.g. is there any adapter available in order to connect the SCSI with USB? Or is it better to use a compression software and transfer it to 10 3,5" floppy discs?
    Thank you
    Emanuel

    Hello Emanuel,
The Performa 5200CD did not have built-in Ethernet as standard, so unless an Ethernet card (or an external SCSI or LocalTalk-to-Ethernet adapter) has been added, that method would not be available in this case.
Your suggestion involving compression software (such as an appropriate version of StuffIt) with segmenting capabilities could of course be one alternative.
If you have an internal or external modem for the Performa, another way could be to use the telephone lines for transfers. A communications program would have to be used on both sides (for example, ZTerm or the communications section of ClarisWorks on the Performa).
It is even possible to connect two serial modems directly. A simple line simulator (in principle, a 9 V battery in series with a 680 ohm resistor in one of the leads in an RJ-11 to RJ-11 cable), which can be built in a couple of minutes, is sometimes needed. Do NOT use a line simulator for units connected to the public telephone network.
Yet another solution could be a null-modem transfer to a PC with a (DB-9M) serial port. This would require a null-modem cable (can be designed by combining a Macintosh modem cable (MiniDIN-8M to DB-25M) with a normal PC-style (DB-25F to DB-9F) null-modem cable . HyperTerminal or another communications program can be used on the PC.
What do you have to work with (other computers/models/platforms)? Is this a one-time transfer, or do you plan to send additional files later? Is the intention to continue to use the Performa 5200?

  • How do I transfer a SODA PDF file to ADOBE PDF?

How do I transfer a SODA PDF file to ADOBE PDF?

In ways, a pdf is a pdf. Adobe pdf files tend to be the most compliant to pdf standards.
I guess my question is, why do you need to do that? Either the pdf is compliant and works fine or, it doesn't. If it's a bad pdf it will be bad no matter what you do (short of recreating it from the original file).

  • How can I transfer PDF books to the kindle app

how can I transfer PDF books to the kindle app

There are many ways to import your PDFs into Papers for iPad. Obviously the preferred way is if you have a Mac and also use Papers for Mac**. The two apps can wirelessly sync their libraries. But also without a Mac there are plenty of ways. You can upload PDFs directly via iTunes, or you can import PDFs attached to an email from Mail on the iPad. Alternatively, use the Papers bookmarklet to open a webpage you found in Mobile Safari and download the PDF from there. Or you can use the built-in search engines to search for articles and download the PDFs.

  • How do I transfer the book to my kindle?

I finally got ADE to accept my book with that whole authorization thing, but now how do I transfer the book to my kindle?
    Thanks

You can't - ebooks tend to have digital rights management on them which ties them to that store's device and/or ereader. So ebooks bought from Apple can only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, and ebooks bought from Amazon can only be read on the Kindle ereader and in the Kindle apps.
