How long to get a fault fixed?

There appears to be some damage to our line outside as when I recently did a few speed tests the download and upload speeds are extremely slow varying between 0.1 and 0.2mB, I rang the support line a week last sunday to say so, they did a test and confirmed that there was a fault and the next day I had a phone message to say that the fault had been reported to the maintenance people. However, for almost a week after that I heard nothing and there was no difference in performance so I contacted support again, who took my mobile number and said that they would contact me very soon, as yet they haven't, was just wondering how long these things generally take to fix? Many thanks

Anything from 1 day upwards.  If it's a simple wire gone adrift at the exchange, somebody may plug it back in the next day.  If it's a cable in a collapsed duct under a busy main road, then by the time they have got permits from the council and organised the contractors to dig up the road, then that could be weeks or months.
Usually, minor faults are fixed in a few days.

  • Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse.  The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

Perhaps, I was not clear enough.
I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

  • How do I get apple to fix my MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) screen, which has always ghosted?

Since I bought my MacBook (mid-2012) the screen has had ghosting problems. Like, since day 0. At first it wasn't really a problem. I wasn't doing graphical work; I didn't need "pixel perfect." But, then I started needing to spend time in Photoshop again. The ghosting made it a frustrating and error-prone process.
My screen ghosts in about 30 seconds of being on the same image for any visible region. So, basically, if if I work at zoom 100% for 30 seconds, using the brush for a few quick strokes, then zoom in, I have to wait another 30 seconds for the false-shadows and hues to go away. It was unusable. I was busy, so I just started doing graphical work on my linux workstation with Gimp. I was too busy to get it repaired.
Finally, a year or so ago when I had some time, I brought my computer into the Apple store. I told them of my ghosting issue, along with an odd sound from the fan when the CPU was pegged. They held it overnight. They claimed they did some diagnostics and cleaned the fan. I thought, well, I don't think that will fix anything, but I signed off. The Applestore staff are very friendly. It's difficult to say, "wait, no -- this is ****** up," to them.
Of course, that fixed nothing. Why would it? I went back to being busy. Then, recently, I had more time again. I brought my laptop into the store. Since Apple had just issued a notice about my year's laptop having graphics issues, I thought, "finally, they understand there is a problem!" They took my computer and shipped it out to Texas, aware of not only the random buffer-level (graphics card) pixelation, but also about the ghosting. It came back with a new logic board and heat sink. Again, this didn't seem likely to fix it, but I didn't object at the store. They were so friendly there.
I bring it home. Unsurprisingly, the ghosting issue was unresolved. This fantastic retna screen is functionally useless for me when doing graphical work. On my Apple. A computer that lauds the creative power of graphical designers. Really?
In no world this okay (see video) for an Apple product that I spent several thousands of dollars on, with the expectation that I could do graphical work. The challenge I heard both times from Apple employees -- "how long were you on the same screen" -- is an utterly absurd question. The video answers it -- about 30 seconds. But, in any case, you can't bill this as a high resolution screen for graphical designers and artists with this problem. We spend time on single screens, fussing over single pixels for hours.
I'm willing to assume that my screen was oddly defective. And, that this was not indicative of a common fault in this particular model. But, it demands resolution. The screen needs to be replaced. I'm tired of explaining that to the Apple store.

You need to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) to take advantage of AirPlay Mirroring

  • How do I get my laptop fixed after 6 weeks of waiting for parts that work??

I've been waiting 6 weeks for my laptop to be repaired...this time. The first time it was a week and the problem was not solved. I have a Macbook Pro that started randomly rebooting. It kept getting worse and worse until it wouldn't even complete a boot up, it just went into a cycle of reboots until it finalyy ended with a kernal error. They replaced my AirPort card which didn't solve the problem. My authorized service provider received replacement parts twice, and both times the parts were faulty so they are STILL waiting. I took matters into my own hands, which meant 2 1/2 hours on hold, no that is not a typo, I waited on hold for two and one-half hours with Apple. I spoke to a human twice, and each time asked for a supervisor or manager who could make a decision and solve my problem, but please don't put me back into the hold queue. After nicely saying they would not, they of course did put me into the hold queue...twice. I just want my computer back!!! The Apple commercials say "they just work", but they don't. If this was a pc, I could drive to my local Best Buy and purchase any replacement part, install it myself in an hour or two, then get back to doing what I need to do, but not with an Apple!!!! Thank goodness I purchsed the Apple Care or I would really be toast. From what I've read on the boards, this is a well known, common problem, so why isn't Apple doing everything possible to keep from ticking off so many people?
I just got off the phone with someone at Apple, after a total of 3.5 hours on the phone, and of couse he has to call people to find out what to do, so it is STILL going to be a couple of days, both of which he will be out of the office so someone else will take care of contacting the powers-that-be. So my question is, what can I do to escalate this matter besides hiring an attorney? Is there some magical department I can call or some supreme being I can email to get some help before I lose faith in all things Apple???? I'm afraid at this point I've had to tell people who ask me how I like my MAC that I would never in a million years purchase one again because the survice is so incredibly horrible and way too traumatic. Who at Apple can I complaign to and have it mean somethings?
Thanks for any suggestions you can offer...

I had a similar waiting time when I sent my iMac G5 in to a Service Provider to get the optical drive fixed. It has to do with - the part takes so much time to get to the Service Provider then if its faulty, they have to resend for a new one. From my experience I would be calling the Service Provider and keeping up on them and the progress. If you need to, ask them how to speed things up. My Service Provider told me to phone Apple to give authority to speed up the shipping to 2-day instead of a week (it is something only the user can ask Apple for) or to ask them to loan me another computer till they get it fixed if it is going to take a lot longer. I called Apple, the lady at Apple put me on hold and gave me to her supervisor who then got the Service Provider on the phone to verify and then told me the part would be there within 2-3 days. It came and was finished, but it took a month before I became wise that nothing was happening at the Service Provider's end "We are waiting for the part" they kept telling me, but they just forgot to order the second one. I found all this out from Apple. There was nothing shipping to the Service Provider at the time nor had there been a second order for the part. The Service Provider did not even tell Apple the first one was faulty. It is called miscommunication and it happens from time to time.
I would make sure you tell Apple how long your computer has been in the shop and always sound professional and polite to whoever is on the other end and ask for that shipping speed up. Phone your Service Provider first to get the proper name that it is called!
It sounds like you got a lemon being taken care of by a Service Provider which automatically takes longer because of shipping. If it is not fixed when you get it back phone Apple first. Hope this helps you.

  • How long for updates and bug fixes usually?

I'm new to Logic and even new to Macs. I'm just wondering how long does it usually take for Apple to release bug fixes and updates to Logic?
Also, how long did Apple take to get around to providing worthwhile updates to Logic 7? Were there substantial updates changed work flow, functionality, etc?
Basically I'm wondering how long until Logic 8 will be more stable and complete?

Logic 7 was never updated so as to provide any significant changes in workflow over its initial release. But apparently L7 so intrinsically broken that they abandoned any effort to fix it. Instead, they developed Logic 8.
L8 has some very obvious bugs, yes. They need to be fixed yesterday. But as usual, Apple is dragging its feet in this regard.
To your question, how long.... well, L7 updates occurred about every 4 months. There's no telling if they'll be on a more conscientious schedule for releasing L8 updates. They only offer end-users one choice: wait and see what happens.

  • How do I get Adobe to fix this bug/Is there a workaround?

Searching the internet shows that lots of people have the following problem:
when using Adobe products on Windows 7 64bit with Outlook 2013.
How does one get a 'fix' created for this, or is there a workaround? I have seen a workaround that involved editing the registry, and I've tried it, but it doesn't work properly.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    PB

    Thank you for your reply.
This is Acrobat 9.5.5. I understand that 11.0.1 may be required to support Office, but accepting the 'default email' program is a basic function.
That said, I imagine it is not worth reporting a bug then, as the repsonse will be 'upgrade to the latest version'.

  • How do I get Apple to fix an incorrect pin issue in maps?

There is a very popular place near downtown Atlanta called Atlantic Station.  It has Businesses, Movie Theatres, Restaurants, Bars, etc.  Apple drops the pin on my quiet street instead of the real location.  We get a steady stream of cars with people looking at their phone with a puzzled look on their face.  Every chance I get I give directions and ask if I can use the "report a problem" feature.  This hasn't helped and the issue still stands.  I even filed a bug with the Apple Bug Reporter, as per the suggestion of an Apple Employee.  That was December of last year ... never received any reply.
Any suggestions on how I might get in touch with someone at Apple to get this fixed?

No, they do not. Feedback is at www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link. Report map issues with the Map app. I know you will not receive a reply from the feedback page, but I'm not sure if you get a response from the Map report. The map data issues are sent to the provider of the map data. That is not Apple itself. I know this has been discussed a lot, and I don't know any other way to handle it. Sorry.

  • The lcd screen of my 15-inch Macbook Pro (mid 2009) is separating from the case. The glue failed due to the heat.  How can I get Apple to fix this factory flaw?

The heat vented from the back of the laptop caused the glue to fail and now the screen is separating from back of the lcd case near the hinges. I know for a fact that this issue is known by Apple as I have seen the issue reported at least a dozen times.  This laptop was considerably more expensive than any comparable laptop at the time I bought it. I bought it believing that I was buying a quality product from a quality company.   I've owned many laptops and I have never seen anything like this.  My laptop is out of warranty but this is really besides the point.  This is clearly a factory defect that Apple should remedy.  What do I need to do to get Apple to fix this design flaw?

    Ask Apple.
We're just regular users here, nobody from the company shows up except for the invisible moderator who purges your posts, threads or self. And if any employee is around, the lawyers probably prevent them from identifying themselves.

  • How long to get money back for returned phone?

I returned my online order and waiting for my credit back/order cancelled. How long does this take?

Hey Bandit390! Return refunds can sometimes take up to 60 days from the point of receipt, but I've seen them come a lot sooner!

  • MBA Hardware Failure--How Long to Get FedEx Return Label?

This is the first time I've ever had to return an Apple product.
Two days ago, the hardware failed on my 13" MBA. It was 4 days old at that time. After the hardware failure was confirmed by the tech people at Apple, I was told (by Sales Support) that a FedEx shipping lable would be emailed to me so that I could return it for a full refund. At that time, I was told that the label would be sent within 24 hours. It's now almost 48 hours and I haven't received the shipping label. I called Sales Support yesterday at the 30-hour point and was told that I would be receiving it "any time now."
Question: How long is normal in a case like this. I'm sitting on $1,300 of worthless hardware. If I call Sales Support again this afternoon, is there some other person I can ask to talk to if they can't help?

Finally got the FedEx shipping label. I'm really disappointed because for the four days I had my Air, it was totally outstanding. I'll probably wait a month or so and re-order. There are enough reports in this forum about hardware problems (not booting any more, clickings sounds, etc) that I'm going to wait.
Everything was fine with mine until day four. I had just downloaded the lastest HP print drivers from the Apple Web site. My network throughput that morning was really slow on what is normally a very fast wireless and wired network. Then, while installing the new print drivers, the computer display gave me about 2 seconds of horizontal, colorful lines across the display and then the system froze. I booted immediately into single user mode to run fsck. The computer froze midway through the boot and I never got to the root> prompt. I've never had a Mac freeze during a single user boot.
I then tired booting from an external hard drive clone of my boot volume. I got the spinning gear for about 10 seconds and then the system shut off.
Later, I booted from the USB thumb drive supplied with the system and tried to reinstall the operating system. I tried Disk Utility first, but it said the drive could not be repaired. It froze about 5 minutes into reinstalling the operating system with garbled video right before the freeze. The system would never boot from the internal SSD. I sent it back today for a full refund.
It was so nice while it worked...

  • My screen broke how can i get apple to fix it i can find where it tells u they fix screens

hello my screen is broken and i can find how to get it fixed on the apple web site they have no catagory for it saying screen repair i just put random things and where it says put in a detail descripton i said i needed my glass reapired and i said that i randomly selceted things to tell them i need my screen repaired. they said they will send me but if its not for the resaon i put it in for repair will they still repair my screen ??????????????????

Apple will just send you a replacement iPod; they don't repair your original unit. And they charge a flat fee for out-of-warranty service no matter what the issue was. So it shouldn't matter what information you supplied, though you can call Apple tech support and clarify if you wish.
    Regards.

  • How much to get my screen fixed

How much will it be to get my iPad 2 screen fixed

The out of warranty replacement costs start at 249 and goes up depending on your model (wifi vs cellular, 32 and 64 gig)
Make an appointment at your local apple store.
You may be able to get it fixed cheaper at a third party place, but if you use a non-authorized repair place you'll void your warranty.
