How to attach a Callto Link to a swf-file?

Hi,
I'm currently working on an animated skype button (swf-file) which I included into my website and I'd like to attach the following command to it:
Callto://myskypeid
It would be perfect, if - when hovering on it - it shows that it contains an active link (showing the "hand") and when clicking on it, it calls the user's skype app. to phone me on skype
So, in the adobe tutorials I found the following code for inserting a "hyperlink" to a button.

I customised the code:

But the problem is that there occur "linkbutton not defined property or method" errors when running the code.
My swf or rsp. my fla file contains 10 movieclips which run one after another on the timescale, all in different layouts so that the colour changes during the "run".
I tried it with the first movieclip - layer1 - and named its instance "linkButton".
Didnt work.
Then I tried to insert another layer and attached another picture with alpha=0, converted it into a button and gave its Instance the name "LinkButton", but also didnt work.
Can someone please help me here? I suppose its just a "small" mistake and I couldn't be "so far away" from succeeding...

ok ...the problem isn't really fixed so far.
But the first step is done! :-) with the following code:

I replaced the "Callto://myskypeId" with "skype:myskypeId?call" as the first syntax shows a wrong Skypname resp. the name will be shown with a "/" in the end.
But now i'm faced with the problem, that
1st: there's no "hand" shown, when hovering the button on the website.
2nd: I have to doubleclick on it to open the skype application.
3rd: after i doubleclicked on the button there opens up always an additional blank page shown in the browser. And now I try to fix that - I tried it with navigateToURL(Skype, "_self"); or "_parent" and so on...but didnt work.
Meanwhile I think the because of not all of the pictures - MCs - are attached to the instance of "linkButton" that there's the missing "hand" when hovering with the mouse the button. On testing i found out that some of the pics are still bitmaps although i converted them all in the beginning to MCs (??dont know what i did there...).
Think the "missing hand" problem will be fixed more easily.
The bigger problem is, how to avoid the additional blank page in the browser when clicking on the swf on the website?
It seems to me, that on the one hand, I'd like to have an "active" link on that swf (or button) that shows the "hand" in the mousepointer - but on the other hand, it's not really a website which I'd like to open up then but just an application. So maybe here's the main problem.
Alternatively I thought about replacing the sequence with the URL request in the code by something rather appropriate for lauching applications e.g. FS Command or something like that. (read that somewhere).
If someone knows/had similar problems/could help me again - or at least to the next step that would be perfect!

I won't be providing lessons, but here's the basics... to load the other swf file using AS3 you will use code like the following in the main timeline...

To add a link, you can create an invisible button and place whereever you like in the timeline, or if its a text link you can assign the link to the dynamic textfield via the properties panel. To create an invisible button just create a button symbol and draw a shape for it only in its Hit frame, leaving all other empty... that way you can still see the button to work with it on the stage, but it will be invisible when the file plays. You could also have the button include text or any other visual you desire if you don't need/want it to be invisible.
If you use the button approach, then you need to assign the button an instance name (I use "myBtn" for this example) Then you have to assign an event listener and event handler function for the button...

The reason I addChild for myBtn after I addChild the Loader is so that it will sit above the Loader. Without that line, the Loader would have the loaded swf sitting atop the button blocking access to it.
If you plan to use a Textfield instead of a button, then you don't need the event code but you still need the addChild() line to bring it in front. As mentioned already you can link it via the properties panel field for a link. To make life simple per these instructions just assign the textfield an instance name of myBtn.

How do you make a link in a .pdf file? (Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional)

Dear Adobe Acrobat Forum,
I would like to add a link to my .pdf file.
Once clicked on, I would like the link to send the user to another place in the same .pdf file
or open a separate .pdf file.
I've tried to resolve this on my own by going to both Acrobat help section and the InDesign help section as well as Googling "Acrobat 8 link" or something similar.......but to no avail.
So, can you please tell me how I can add a link to a .pdf file?
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.
I have been creating .pdf files using the File > Export feature in Adobe InDesign CS3 (for the Mac).

Have you tried in Acrobat 8 to:
Choose Link tool.
Then choose as shown on as on this Graphic
Then when clicking next you should be greeted with this:
Choose open a file or open a weblink depending upon what you want to do.
You try some of the other choices. once you select what to do save as a copy and try. If This one doesn't work try some of the other choices in the first graphic. other panes will open up similar to second graphic except there will be other choices.

Here's some example code that you should be able to adapt to your needs.

Jay has explained it about as best as can be done. What you have now is a
SWF that lives in a browser. With Flix, you can eliminate the SWF
altogether. Or if there is logic that still will require the SWF, then both
Flix and the SWF will live in the browser at the same time (and can talk via
ExternalInterface).
fyi .. When using Flix, if Flix does not eliminate the SWF altogether, you
will remove from your SWF all logic for acquiring Camera and Microphone. As
Jay has reiterated, Flix Publisher will now be doing all that.
If your SWF includes logic other than video/audio, e.g. maybe text chat,
then you may need logic in your SSAS to associated the video from Flix with
anything else from the SWF since each will have its own NetConnection to the
FMIS application.

How to attach sound using link to any button?

am using this code to call sound file after click on button.

My problem is I have more than 100 buttons and their own sound files.Now ,this buttons are on separet scene so, it creates separet image for each button and separet sound for each button which is in liblary.Now,my problem is there are huge sound files and button images.So,flash is not supporting this.It does not show .swf file(Output result).
I think this is beacause of a lot of images and sound files.
Is there any other way to call sound file through link function.Now sounds files are called through "linkage".from liblary.
am using flash cs 5 with as 2.

How can I create a link to download a file in Captivate?

So, in my Captivate file, I want people to be able to download an XML file to their machine. If I create a hyperlink to "open a file", then when a user clicks on it, captivate attempts to open the xml file in a browser window instead of downloading it. I can't figure out how to use the download attribute for an href in captivate and I'm not sure if javascript to do this would execute properfly. Anybody know the best way to accomplish a force download of a file from a captivate presentation (Captivate 6)?

If you want to really do this so that it is consistent for all browsers, you'll need to implement this at the server level. I did this with the Dynamic PDF Export Widget. Typically, a PDF will be displayed in the browser, but I added the ability to download it instead. It does require a PHP file (or some other server side script). In the PHP file, you'll want to set the response header for Content-Disposition to "attachment"... that's the key.
The elbow grease part has to do with managing how the browser handles the link. You'll want the Captivate hyperlink to open a new window so that the student does not navigate away from your course in the current window. But since you are opening a PHP file, you can inject javascript into the document of the new window/tab to close itself. The download will still continue eventhough the window/tab was programmatically closed. However, most modern browsers will automatically close the window/tab for you when downloading a file. If you want to see an example of a PHP file that implements this, go ahead and download the trial version of the Dynamic PDF Export widget. You'll see the create.php file in the zip package.

If you want to go simple as TLC Media Design suggested, just zip it and let your students unzip the xml file, or just rename the xml file with a .zip extension and tell them to rename the file back to .xml after downloading.

It is no problem to create a link. But the formats are limited and - unbelievable - the pdf format is not supported??!

PDF is media. It is not a web document. Your end users must have plug-ins and helper apps installed on their device to see PDFs in browsers. Depending on their settings, the PDF file may or may not launch in the browser window. On my system, PDF files download and launch inside Acrobat Professional; not my browser.
The safest approach is to provide a screenshot on your page with a direct link to the PDF file so people can handle it as they wish. See example: http://www.adobe.com/manufacturing/3dpdfsamples/3dsolutions/

How to get poster image (from_movie) when placing SWF file with JS?

I am able to place the poster from movie (flv) file. SWF files seems to belong to Movie class. I can place the generic posters (standard, none and proxy_image), but not "FROM_MOVIE".
I am getting the following error message:
"Error 81926" "The poster image could not be changed to the requested image".
I will attach my code (sligtly modified from the sample "placeMOVIE" which is coming with CS5) containing also code for other property settings to be tested.
Hoping to find a good solution for this, thanks in advance!

URL, email links in Flash swf files shows up in search engine

Hi, can you please help? I post this problem a while ago.
My problem is: I developed a website in Flash 8 on the Mac.
The Flash swf file is displayed via Dreamweaver doc. When I do a
search and, when the site is found in Google, all the links used in
the Flash swf file appears in the snippets below the main title. I
would like to know where I'm going wrong, and how can I prevent
Google from displaying the URL and email details.
Do I need to use a preloaded, or do I need to put the Flash
swf movie file in a table in Dreamwever.

How can I make a transparent square box swf file in flash cs4?

I have one picture imported into flash cs4 and would like to make a rectangle box which should be transparent. Finally I will save it as .swf file for later use. But the box should be transparent (without any background). How can I do that? Please do help.

How can i detect if the picture or swf file is produced from legal flash?

I have recently bought images and swf files from a student for my website.
I've just realized that the images and swf might be from pirated flash product because i found out that
the original flash is really and i mean really pricey! I don't believe he bought an original product.
How do i detect if it is from a legal product? I'm worried as i'm going to put it in my website.
I can't get the guy who did this for me as he is in another country already.
If it is possible to detect this and it is indeed from pirated product, how can i make it legal again?

Its the same question, just that i want to know if it is possible to trace the source if the file is an image.
If it is not possible to trace the source be it a swf or an image file, then i will just upload it to my website.
I wouldn't bother to check if it came from a pirated flash product.
The image is created from flash 8 just for me. It is not downloaded from another source.

Links missing in SWF file

For some reason our linked areas don't appear in our swf
flash file when viewed with computers that don't have the JAVA
update. When these computers are updated, the linked areas
suddently appear. Anyone know why? Is there a way to avoid this?
I was assuming that Flash files only need flash plugins to be
viewed in a browser.

I think you need to add your local foloder to trust location of adobe security panel, try following steps:
1. Open the swf.
2. Right click and select Settings... and Adobe Flash Player Settings pops up.
3. Click Advanced... and a new IE page opens (Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Global Security Settings Panel). Close the swf.
4. On the left of the Adobe page, select Globel Security Settings Panel to open the panel.
5. In the panel at right of page, select Always allow and add your local foloder which stores the swf file to the location box below.
6. Close the page.
7. re-open the swf and refresh the QaaWS connections.
Now the BOE login dialog should be poped up.
