How to close browser?

Hi,
   I have a requirement wherein the WebDynpro application, which opens in a new browser using a link in portal, needs to be closed using a button.
   I have tried this out by two methods but both didn't work:
1: I have used exit plug and changed the logoff page. Using this I was able to close the WebDynpro application but the browser didn't close.
2: I have created one html file having javascript to close the browser which I have put in the mime repository and called this file from the exit plug of the window. Even this doesn't work.
   Can someone suggest me some way out.
   Thanks in advance. Will reward points for helpful answer.
Regards
Mukesh

  • How to close browser window after user log out

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how I can close browser window after user logs out. The scenario is when user clicks a log out button I will invalidate user session and close the browser right away in the backing bean.
    Your help would be appreciated.

    Try run this and you'll see that it runs fine with no exceptions:
    <%
         String someText = "bla bla bla";
         response.setContentType("text/plain");
         response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=message.txt");
         try {
              ServletOutputStream os = response.getOutputStream();
              os.write(someText.getBytes());
              os.flush();
              os.close();
         } catch (Exception e) {
              out.println("ERROR: " + e);
    %>It looks like that after I've closed the outputStream I can't do any more processing in the JSP. Even if I remove the setContentType and setHeader methods it still behaves this way.
    I'm starting to think that there's no way around this...??

  • How to close browser window after flushing a file to the browser?

    I have this simple JSP, which flushes a String to the browser as a file (message.txt). The JSP gets opened in a new window when the user clicks a link.
    The problem is that after the JSP has run, the browser window won't close automatically. I've tried adding a small javascript to achieve this, but i doesn't seem to even get run.

         } catch (IOException e) {
              return;
         } catch (Exception e) {
              return;
    %>
    <script type="text/javascript">

  • How to close Browser by using a button

    I want to close my browser window using a button in ADF JSF Page.
    How it can be done .... ?
    Regards
    MS Arain

    Thanks to all of you i got a hint from your guys which resolve the issue
    however i want to share how i have resolved this issue i may be wrong
    or there may be any easy alternative that is why i am sharing it.
    I adopted the following steps
    1. Add a New Command Button in my JSF Page
    2. Attached a client listener with the command button
    <af:commandButton text="Close &amp; Exit" id="cb8">
    <af:clientListener method="closeWindow" type="action"/> ---// This is the attachment syntax
    </af:commandButton>
    3. Define a closewindow java script as follows
    <af:resource type="javascript"> --// this is how we declare/define java script in ADF
    function closeWindow(actionEvent) {
    window.close();
    </af:resource>

  • How to close browser window ?

    Can someone help me?
    I need to close the browser window when I exit form in WEB mode
    (i.e. using the toolbar exit button).
    I think that, using a javascript inside the HTML cartridge, it
    should be possible.
    For example see the following.
    <SCRIPT FOR=dev60 EVENT=????? LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    window.close;
    </SCRIPT>
    To make running this I must to know the event name generated by
    the form applet.
    Does someone know it?
    Is there some documentation about this argument ?
    Thanks

  • How to close and re-open the browser

    I have just downloaded a program and to fully install it it is requesting that I close the browser and re-open it. I don't know how to close and re-open the browser. Can you tell me how to close and re-open the browser? Thank you

    It is always best to use File > Exit<br />
    That will close all open windows, so if there are still other windows open then these won't close if you use the close X on the title bar.
    Also make sure that you do not have security software that is locking files in the Firefox program folder.

  • How to capture when user closes browser

    I am implementing a scenerio where I need to reset login status in the database to false when a user closes browser without logout. I am at fix, how do I do that ????? With the java script solution, its a browser dependent and may not work with all the browser. With java sessionListener, the sessionDestroyed() method is never called when browser is closed.
    Plz. help... how can I capture the browser closing event. My application is running on Websphere and integrated with active directory for authentication and authorization.
    Thanks in advance......

    what about HttpSessionBindingListener?
    javascript solution doesn't sound good to me"hack" was chosen for that reason. Currently, there are no real good solutions for this. The browser runs autonomously from the server so there is not a lot that can be done. HttpSessionBindingListener is intriguing but I bet when the browser is x'd out of there is nothing sent to listen to.
    The first reply "reasonable timeouts" is the most relied on solution. All others are a lot of work for iffy pay back at best. This is one of the issues that has forced me into rather strict no session solutions.

  • Possible solution to close browser issues.....but am not sure how to acheive it

    Hi there,
    In an earlier post I was and still am having issues with the close browser window, but now I have thought of a solution that will do the job if I can get CP to mimic key strokes on a button press/click or using advanced actions, but I am not sure how to achieve this....
    The idea is to have the ALT-F-X keyboard combo done when a button is clicked, which will then close the browser....
    Does that sound achievable??
    Cheers

  • How to close the detach popup on click of a button in the panel collection

    Hi,
    I'm using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.3.0.
    I have an af table surrounded by panel collection. There is a button on panel collection to commit the changes in the table.
    Clicked detach button to view the table in full browser.
    On click of Commit button, the detach popup is not closed. I have set partialSubmit of that button to false. Then also detach popup is not closed.
    Can anybody suggest me how to close the detach popup on click of a button in the toolbar.
    Thanks,
    Vinod

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for your response. Popup is not closed.
    I tried this approach, when the view tree is navigated on the Detach, I see that the tree is same as if it is traversed on the page without detach.
    Printed client id and UI component class in the while loop, result is as below.
    r1:0:pc1:t3 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.layout.RichToolbar
    r1:0:pc1 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.output.RichPanelCollection
    r1:0:ph2 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.layout.RichPanelHeader
    r1:0:pgl1 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.layout.RichPanelGroupLayout
    r1 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.fragment.RichRegion
    pgl1 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.layout.RichPanelGroupLayout
    db2 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.layout.RichDecorativeBox
    db1 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.layout.RichDecorativeBox
    psl1 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.layout.RichPanelStretchLayout
    ps1 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.layout.RichPanelSplitter
    f1 class oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.RichForm
    Tried with setting partialsubmit property to false on the command button, still the popup is not closed and my Faces Message are shown behind the detach popup.
    Thanks,
    Vinod
