I had the same probelm and found that the problem lies with 64bit programs such as safari and microsoft internet explorer. I have resolved the issue on my PC based server by using a 32 bit ie and same on my mac by using the same running windows under parallels.
So far the problem with the 64 bit side of it is still to be resolved.
Hope this helps and gets you guys up and running until suchtime a 64 bit solution is found.

SD card and USB key connection when user is logged off

Yes I have to admit: I am a switcher.
There is a thing I don't understand and I don't know if it is a feature or a bug.
I have implemented the screensaver to ask me the password after some time. So I have noted that when the Mac is in this state, if I connect an SD card or a USB key, these pheriperals are not connected. If instead I logon and I reconnect them they work.
Is it a feature or a bug?

It's a feature. USB drives must be unmounted or ejected before they are disconnected, to prevent volume corruption and data loss. The feature prevents users from getting into the situation where they accidentally plug a drive into the wrong computer, and then can't unlock the screen to safely unmount the drive before disconnecting it.
That's my guess, anyway.

HOW TO UNLOCK A USB KEY (Locked by on a PC)

The other day whilst in the local shopping mall, I received a USB key from the stand advertising the lastest XBOX stuff. I have this along with another 2 which I received in the course of work.
Unfortunately, they are all locked. They do show up in Disk Utility, but I cannot partition, delete, restore etc.
It seems a shame to throw them away, so was wondering if anyone could tell me how to unlock - and make them functional (for me) again.

Oracle documentation on locking, transaction management and consistent read are excellent. Previous post already contains link to that.
Some high level points (in the context o your questions).
1. Oracle does not lock table (unless specifically requested via LOCK TABLE ...). Oracle locking is at row-level.
2. In Oracle readers never block writers and writers never block readers.
3. Reading "dirty data" is not required (nor possible) in Oracle.
Why do you want to read "dirty data"? What problem are you trying to address?

How can I use USB camera with NI cRIO 9022, please see my strange problem.

I would like to use a USB camera with NI cRIO 9022. I used the same USB camera with NI USB 6216 DAQ device and developed a VI(within a PROJECT and outside it). So, It is working fine with NI USB 6216 device when I use the Vision Assistant Express VI and gets detected in its Initialization Window. Please see JPEG File 3 where I get NO ERROR.
I am facing a problem when I want to use it with NI cRIO 9022. What exactly I am doing in this case is:
1) Create a NEW PROJECT
2) Add Targets and Devices(NI cRIO 9022)
3) Use the Scan Interface mode
4) Create a NEW VI under the cRIO 9022 device
5) Use a Timed Loop(Synchronized with Scan Engine) for continuous Data Acquisition and Sending from the Analog I/O modules.
6) Use the Vision Assistant available through the NI Vision Acquisition 2010 Module(I get STUCK HERE! The Express VI opens the Initialization Window, but I don't see the USB camera like in JPEG File 3)
I am facing difficulties with this HOST COMPUTER, cRIO implementation differences. On my host computer I have the software packages as shown in JPEG File 1, and on my cRIO 9022 as shown in JPEG File 2.
Can someone guide me how to overcome this and get the USB camera detected when I am using NI cRIO 9022?
NOTE: If this is a problem with software mismatches on HOST and NI cRIO 9022 device, please see JPEG Files 1 and 2 for available software and Host and cRIO 9022.

When you select My Computer, you are running the program on the PC. In this case, the camera works because it is connected to the PC. The scan engine doesn't work because it needs to run on the cRIO, not the PC.
When you create the program on the cRIO, you can use the scan engine because the program is on the cRIO. You can't use the camera because it is back on the PC, and can't be found on the cRIO.
The project is a wonderful tool, but it may be making the programming seem too simple. It may not be clear to you that by moving a program to a different location (PC or cRIO), it is running in an entirely different environment on a totally different machine, even though it is just a little further down in the project. You can't easily access the hardware on one machine while running the program on the other.
So the summary is: The camera is attached to the PC. The scan engine runs on the cRIO. Never the twain shall meet.

How to eject a usb connected disk from a time capsule device

i am currently using Time Capsule to backup several mac computers on a network. i would like to use the Archive utility to clone a copy of the Time Machine backup to an external usb device. i plan to purchase two external usb disks for this purpose, and swap them on occasion. how do i safely eject the external usb disk when i want to swap these drives? i don't see a way to do this in the Time Capsule documentation, but perhaps i am missing it. thanks.

That is because you installed a later version.. without realising that later versions removed all the useful tools.. but look much prettier..
Don't you want pretty.. if you want useful.. try this.
How to load 5.6 into Lion or ML.
1. Download 5.6 for Lion.

Install directly into Lion you are done.
For ML, click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
2. Download and install unpkg.
http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 (now 6.2 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

How do you handle this:
For each camera, i have a default preset i'm choosing manualy and applying when importing my raw files into lightroom.
I'd like to also add some default lens correction to those presets.
The problem is that multiples lenses (meaning different corrections) may be applied.
How to apply the correct lens correction for each file, in the batch import ?

Update your existing develop presets so that the Lens Corrections are checked (see attached screen shot). Select the develop preset in Import dialog. Lr will automatically apply the appropriate default lens profile to each individual image during import.

I am trying track the keyboardevent that triggered by pressing numpad keys as hotkey, but when the numlock is disabled, the same keycode, same keylocation was gotten as pressing in the standard keyboard. how can I determine if the numpad was pressed or the other control keys were pressed?

Hibernate: how to null out foreign key references when deleting an entity?

We use Spring/Hibernate3 in our app, and ran into kind of a bummer of a problem. We have a relationship that is many-to-one (e.g. Student -> School). This is represented by a schoolId on the Student table. When we delete the school through the Hibernate layer, we are immediately receiving foreign key constraints because Hibernate does not null out the Students' schoolId columns where applicable.
What we'd like to see happen is something like this:
1. SchoolDAO.delete(id)
Hibernate: UPDATE Student set schoolId = NULL where schoolId = ?
Hibernate: DELETE from School where id = ?
But what we're actually seeing is:
1. SchoolDAO.delete(id)
Hibernate: DELETE from School where id = ?
And hence the foreign key constraints.
Was wondering if someone else here has run into this. Someone on the Hibernate forums suggested using an Interceptor, but the Hibernate3 interceptors don't give us access to the Session to allow us to do a bulk update to null out these references. Apparently the interceptor javadoc says that the interceptor is basically there to change properties on the object in question and should not involve the session at all.
We then looked at implementing an Event, and that worked, but was not called for every cascade deleted event. We have a lot of cascade activity in our database, so that was a little disappointing.
We had briefly considered manually nulling out that FK in the DAO itself, but that would not work with the large amount of Hibernate driven cascade deletion that goes on in our app (Hibernate does not call our DAO every time it cascade deletes an entity).
Would greatly appreciate any pointers on this subject. We're hoping that others have run into this as well.

I'm not sure why you'd expect that given that there's
not really an equivalent object oriented operation -
if you want to relinquish the object in the OO scheme
of things you have to null all the references to it;
you can't just say "make everything that points to
this object null".I can field that question. We came from EJB 2.x where in the event that you deleted a School entity bean using ejbRemove() you would see the following queries generated:
UPDATE Student set schoolId = NULL where schoolId = ?
DELETE from School where id = ?
Basically, it would manage the relationship for you. I know it's a completely different system but we were a little surprised to learn that Hibernate did not do this on its own as well.

How can my computer show fluid damage when I didn't spill on it?

How can my Mac Book Pro show water damage inside when I never spilled water on or near it? My hard drive failed. I brought it to Apple store to be repaired under Apple Care Warranty. After it was opened I was told that it would not be covered under warranty due to fluid damage. I was shocked because I never spilled on it. I leave it in one place on a counter in my home. I don't have little kids or others to spill on it. They said it was dried like old fluid damage but guessed that it would have been 6-8 ounces. I live in Wisconsin. The house is very dry usually but our home April Air humidifier keeps house humidity more normal. I put it into the original box and put it in my car for a few days until I was able to drive to Milwaukee to the Apple store. The out door temperature was cold but the car was in the garage. Could condensation alone look like this? If that much fluid was spilled wouldn't it fail at that time? The computer stopped one pm when I was using it for several hours. At the store they hooked it up to their external hard drive and everything else seemed to work, and the plan was to replace the hard drive under warranty. They called me later to say that after opening it they old dried fluid damage was identified and voided warrranty. RAther that spend $1200+ to fix it seems that I should just buy a new computer. I don't understand how this could happen and I certainly don't want it to happen again if I didn't spill on it. Can anyone explain this?

No, no one can. No one has any better idea than you have about where your computer has been or how it has been treated.
If your computer is working normally apart from its hard drive having failed, it doesn't need to be repaired, apart from replacing the bad drive. You would be crazy to replace the whole thing at vast expense instead of buying a replacement drive for $100 or less and installing it yourself. Instructions for replacing the drive easily are in the little user guide that came with the machine.

I updated the video driver and now the screen won't come on? how can I roll back the driver when I can't see the screen?

I am running my Mac Book Pro with Bootcamp. Leopard on one partition and Windows 7 on the other. I updated the driver for the Nvidia video card then the screen went black. I tried to boot into the MAC side but the screen doesn't even show the optional boot screen. It does however sound like it's booting, I have tried hooking up a second monitor to see if it would show on that but it doesn't. I have also tried booting from the CD using the Win 7 disk, hoping that it would use the video driver on the disk instead. I'm either not doing it right (pressing ctrl & D whilst starting up) or that doesn't work either? I'm a bit lost? Don't know how to get to it.

Take your MBP to an Apple Store or an AASP. If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, suggest that you take advantage of it & call Apple tech support.

Now I want to registe rwith that mail , but a message appears "this email is already in use" or sth like that. Just because and Apple ID email is not verified does not mean the account is not created. (usable may be another matter)
Are you trying to Login here with the Manage option.
This will take you to the Apple ID page and tell you if there is an Verified Email as the Apple ID and whether there is a recovery email in use.
There is a menu on the left to sort any Recovery email and set Security Questions.
You are most likely to need to verify the Apple ID you were trying to create.

How can I get my contacts back when they didn't copy in a back up or a restore?

I did a complete back up of my songs, photo's and contacts and everything else. When I did the update and sync with new music all of contacts were deleted. When I tried to restore from older backups the contacts didn't return. Help please?

What service do you sync your contacts with? iCloud? Yahoo? Gmail? Once you add that account back to your phone, your contacts should be restored.
