How to inititalized the used Component?

Hello,
I would like to initialize a used Component in a special way only when it is called by another Component. When it runs in stand alone, I do not want to perform this initialization. Is there any way to accomplish this? I have not seen this in the documentation.

"Each window has a uniquely assigned interface view. This interface view represents the outward view of the window. The interface view is linked with a Web Dynpro application so that the window can be called using a URL.".
In simple terms, interface view shows you the default view of the used component.
Using interface view is not complex.What is your requirement. ?

How to populate the time component of a cube?

We have a question regarding how to populate the time component of a cube. Let me explain:
We are using OWB 10gR2. We have created a cube with several dimensions. We are now building the mapping to load the cube. The cube operator has two columns for every dimension (e.g., "customer" and "customer_id" for the "customer" dimension).
We understand that, in this case, "customer_id" stands for the dimension business key, so we create an arrow from the business key in the source table to the "customer_id" column in the cube operator.
So far so good. The mapping works all right, and the cube is loaded correctly.
Now we need to do the same for the time dimension. We have already created the time dimension and we have loaded it. We have also included it in the cube, so now we have two new columns in it: "time_day_code" and "time", both NUMBER data type.
We have the "sale_date" column (DATE data type), in the source system and, of course, now we want to populate the date column in the cube. We suppose that, somehow, we have to translate the "sale_date" field into the numeric column of the surrogate key of the time dimension. How should do we do this? I suppose that OWB must do the translation for us, just as it does for the other dimensions, but how? We have been looking into the manuals, and we have found no explanation on how to go about this.
Any help would be appreciated.

You are right this should have been in the manuals, checked and there is only a brief mention (Using a Time Dimension in a Cube Mapping section)
The identifier format should have been documented for each level and will involve creating the formatted attribute for input to the cube operator's time dimension reference attribute.
The time dimension business keys are stored as follows;
Day Level - YYYYMMDD
Month Level - YYYYMM
Week Level - YYYYWW
Quarter - YYYYQ
Year - YYYY
If you have a source that has a SQL date datatype for example and want to construct the key for a cube's time dimension at the day level something like the following expression can be used to construct the time reference from a SQL date...
to_number(to_char( time_key, 'YYYYMMDD'))
The result of this expression can be used as input to the cube's time dimension attribute.

Asset which is under Asset Class Support system-B700. Here every thing is ok but the problem in USE FULL LIFE which is come by default. It must be 4 instead of 5.   So can any body help me out from this how to change the Useful life in that Asset class. In that Asset Class we have the morethan 200 Assets. It was happend in Prdocution system so now the problem is where i can change the useful life for the asset class either in DEV or PRD.
       Also i want to know the information of How these assets are Uploaded into the system (Lsmw or etc). this is very urgent for me.

Currently in the editing window of the communication channel (adapter type WS), I can not see any options regarding Reliable Messaging protocol (WS-RM).
The scenario that is required is as follows.
(Consumer WS-RM) -> (Provider WS-RM PI 7.11 EHP1) -> (ABAP Proxy Backend NW 7.0)

WS adapter supports WS Reliable Messaging. But WS adapter is used to communicate between two SAP web service runtime.

How to Scroll the UIScrollBar component to the top?

I'm using the UIScrollBar with a dynamic text field. If
content gets scroll by the user, and then the text fiel dis update
with new text, the new text remains "pre-scrolled". So, obviously,
I want to set the scroll position to 0 every time I update the
content in that field. But how do you do this?
Is this something I do to the text field or to the
UIScrollBar component?

My problem is that, if I select the check box on one item having a considerable amount of rows, then if I scrool down another item will appear checked even if I never clicked it.
This is due to the use of virtual layout by the spark data grid, but I just can't find where to tell the data grid to not use virtual layout.
Can anyone help me, please?

I tried to do as you told but I never get the prepare method to be executed.
I just added this to the GridItemRenderer:

but I never get to see any alert box.

How to prevent the use of wild cards in select-option

Hello experts,
Is it possible to prevent the use of wild cards in a select-option? If yes, how is it done please?
I have a
SELECT-OPTIONS: o_comp FOR dbtab-field OBLIGATORY DEFAULT 'FI'.
and, I want to prevent the users for giving in some thing like FI* with the wildcard bc it would lead to dump.
I want an error message to display and prevent the users for making such entry.
Please I need your help and I would be very grateful.

You have to use SELECT_OPTIONS_RESTRICT to restrict input allowed. Call this FM in INITIALIZATION or SELECTION-SCREEN OUPUT sections.
Sample :

How to find the webdynpro component on server

Hi Experts,
I need to identify a webdynpro component in server whether it is there or not. Just i know the name of the component, Why i am asking with that component i am getting some errors while created a callable object in GP. I need to identify the component and delete that.
Is there any other way to do this.......

To create a callable object from a web dynpro project you need three DC like
caf/eu/gp/api
caf/eu/gp/api/wd
com.sap.security.api.sda
but caf/eu/gp/api and caf/eu/gp/api/wd are not available if you work on local development enviornment with out NWDI. Then you need to put those DCs within your local plugin directiory. I am sending you a link through this you will get to download those DCs and where you will put those DCs it is clear in this doc.

In your local mc you will go to the following path

I am facing a problem with restricting the use of Business Area and Plant in PTC module.
In this project we are trying to controle the user access or transaction as per the Business Area and Plant.
We have applied same authorisation in the PTF module.
Please help me if there is any authorisation object which give Plant and business area restrictions for all the transactions.
Note: We have already inserted two authorisations object manually -
1) F_BKPF_GSB
2) A_IMPR_GSB
but it's not working, is there any other way to restrict all the trasactions as per the Business Area and Plant.

How to minimize the use of memory ?

I have problems with a memory leak in my JSP file. I'm not sure, of course,it is in there, it could also be something in Internet explorer (5.5). If I let the explorer open for 12 hours IEXPLORER.EXE is using almost 150 MB of my memory.
I need to refresh my screen every 30 seconds and it is open all the time. Every 30 seconds I get a new vector with 20 records (objects) from the servlet. Do I need to set the vector to null after using them or are there some tricks/hints I can perform to reduce the use of memory ???

yes, set the vector to null. Although if IE is eating up the memory, then it has nothing to do with your JSP.

When you create content dynamically, using the dot notation doesn't work and you have to use getChild... methods if you want to access via the parents. However, you shouldn't need to do that since you already have a direct reference to the object...

You probably could have realized this when you were implementing this line (assuming it worked)...
myChild.addChild(nextChild);
With the parent approach to targeting, wouldn't you have tried to use... myMovie.myChild.addChild(nextChild); ?
and "Click" should be "CLICK"

I would like to prevent the user from opening pop up windows using the right button of the mouse on a link.

Is this regarding OAF ? if this is a requirement in OAF, then its not possible(unless you put in some javascript function in the page).
If you want to do it in other jsps there are a lot of examples available in google on how to do this.
