  • Oracle 11i E-Business Suite Installation on Windows fails

All you Oracle 11i gurus out there, please HELP as I am at my wit's end.
I am trying to install Oracle 11i E-Business Suite (downloaded from the edelivery Website) on Windows 2003 Server with dual PIII CPU, 1GB RAM, and 150GB+ disk space.
My Oracle 11i install on Windows has been failing during Step 1 of 5 following the process of unpacking the 114 zipfiles for the 9.2.0 database even though all the diagnostic steps passed.
It appears the install is failing on the following step:
    InstantiateFile -d d:\oracle\visdb\9.2.0\appsutil\driver\instconf.drv
I have MKS Toolkit installed on C:\MKS and VC++ installed on C:\MVS\VC98.
I have renamed make.exe to gnumake.exe in the C:\MKS\mksnt folder and copied the linker (link.exe) from C:\MVS\VC98\bin to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
The InstantiateFile step is executing some Java classes. I have also installed the JRE on C:\jre1.5.0_06, although it's doubtful this will impact the install scripts since the scripts are all hardcoded with the included JRE 1.4.2.
Why do Oracle DBAs and users deal with this crap? A software install should not be this difficult.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks to previous responder for tip regarding JDK/JRE anchor strings. I'm not sure if that is a problem. After letting the install process (java.exe) run for over an hour, I finally got past the InstantiateFile step. It looks like the process just takes a long time with no visible progress sometimes. After 5-6 hrs, it looked like the install succeeded (for the most part). There were still some errors in the error logs related to the Concurrent Manager (TNS-12541: TNS:no listener) I believe. If anyone has insight on what this error msg means, I would greatly appreciate a reply.
The other problem I am tackling right now is how to explicitly set the Forms processing mode to HTTP rather than the default socket mode. According to the 11i docs (and Forms Developer 6i docs), you should only have to set "connectMode=HTTP" in the config file, appsweb.cfg, to make this happen. However, when I try bringing up a client form, the form hangs. So, obviously, something is amiss. A related question is whether one can run Forms in only HTTP mode and not HTTPS (and thus avoid having to install SSL). I would greatly appreciate any insight from fellow users.

  • How to install oracle Forms and Report 10g in windows XP OS

How to install oracle Forms and Report 10g in windows XP OS. Already installed oracle Database 10g in my notebook.
    It is working good.
    please help me this issue.
    please give the steps..............
    Thanks
    Rajeev

    Hello Frank,
for development, you need to install Oracle Developer
Suite 10g. This includes Forms and Reports.this topic interests me too, because I've downloaded Developer Suite and Database (both for 10g) from Oracle website, installed them, but I couldn't connect to a database.
What should be done for me to create a database link and be able to connect locally, in my personal Desktop computer? (Not to a server)
Once it was told me here that I should download 10g Database - I did it, and installed it, but it didn't work. Later, some of my job partners said I should install them in a sequence - that is, 1st the Developer, and 2nd the Database. But it has failed too. And I don't know how to configure a database connection.
    Best regards,

  • How to install APEX wit E-Business Suite Release 12.0.4

    Hi Community,
We have just installed the VISION demo database and the E-Business Suite Release 12.0.4 on a test environment, under SUSE SLES 10 SP3.
In order to see if we can take advantege of APEX with the EBS 12.0.4, I would like to know what kind of installation should we make to install APEX 3.1.2.
Any suggestion or help will be appreciated.
    Rgds.
    Luis.

    Hi Luis,
here you can find the official statement from Oracle about R12 and mod_plsql (on which Apex is built):
    http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2008/07/new_whitepaper_mod_plsql_and_e_1.html
BTW, the most interesting part is in the comments, where you can read "+The Application Express Product Management team is currently working on their own white paper that will discuss APEX and EBS integration best practices in detail.+"
From my experience, it's not possible to use the Apache servers that come within an R12 environment, so you will need to install a new Apache (that includes mod_plsql) into a separate Oracle Home. Then you will need to install the Apex sw into the Apps R12 database and make sure that Apex is called from the new Apache server that should point to the R12 db.
    Hope it's useful,
    Paolo

    Ummm .... client license?
All license questions should be addressed to Oracle.  I believe what you'll find is that the license for client installation is free.  What you pay to license and support is the rdbms (server) software.
But all licensing questions should be addressed directly to Oracle.  A license agreement is a legal issue, and this forum will have no standing in court.

  • How to install oracle database 11g express edition on Windows 7

    Hi Guys,
i am trying to download and install Oracle database 11g express edition on windows7 and i can't seem to get it right. i did get the download but when i try to install, it keeps saying it appears to be an invalid archive.
    Please help..

Action - Refer to the logs or contact OracleFinding the problem is the key. "Refer to the logs" is the only option, XE has no oracle support offerings.
Which plugin failed, and why did it fail will be important clues. There should be error messages in the log that will be helpful.
Otherwise, we don't have much help to offer. Fixing a problem means identifying the problem and performing steps to correct it, if there a fix is available.
A MOS lookup on the ins-20802 error has snippets from one installer session, this one is from an x64 install. Not x86. To paraphrase the details:
    ... Created a new file <drive>:<OH path>\cfgtoollogs\configToolAllCommands
    SEVERE: java.io.IOException: Access is denied
...So from those symptoms, the user trying to run the installer does not have appropriate rights on that drive and/or folder. The fix for that particular problem is adding the user to the local administrators group. And rerunning the install. After running the deinstall steps to clean up the installation. As specified in the XE install guide for Windows.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm
Also note the System Requirements, it specifies a System architecture Intel x86, which is not X64. There is no X64 installer for XE on Windows. So it might work. Or it might not if your host is x64.
So if that is your particular error, verify that your user is in the local admins group. Either use the local users and groups applet (Start/Run/lusrmgr.msc) and open up the Administrators group. Click the Add button. Find your user. If your OS user is a windows domain user, be sure you have authenticated to the domain.
Try the `net ...` list of the adminis group, that should reveal whom is indeed in the local administrators group:
    net localgroup administrators
    Administrator
    <domain>\Domain Admins ... # ??? is the host in windows domain ???
    <domain>\Local Admins
    <domain>\<user1>
    <user2>
    <user3>
    echo %USERNAME%
    # if relevant:
echo %USERDOMAIN%Like it also states in the Windows install guide, under Permission Required quote:
... must be a member of the Administrators group on Windows to install Oracle Database XE.

i have completed the first stages of validation system configuration .
and later while extracting files from the location it shows error as
1.APPS_ORACLE_HOME environmental file was not created? please tell me how this will be done in detail>
    2.Apps configuration was not created?
3.RW-00023 -ERROR-DBC File was not created?
please give the replies in detail
    thanks
    .

  • How to Install Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) on Windows Server 2003?

I recently installed "32-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio" on my computer (Windows 7, 64bit). Everything seems fine and I can develop and run my application in Visual Studio 2010 and IIS 7.
Now, when I deploy my application to the Server, it raises error:
Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCommand' threw an exception. ---> Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client
Obviously I need to install ODAC on the server, too. My server is:
    - Windows 2003 32 bit R2 (I know, I know!)
    - IIS 6
So. I downloaded the same installation from Oracle website (ODAC 11.2 Release 5 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio [11.2.0.3.20]) and installed it on the server. But still getting the same error.
PS: When I was installing, I chose Oracle Data Access Component for Oracle Client 11.2.0.3.20 in Oracle Universal Installer. hmmmm. Should I choose "Oracle Server" instead? Screenshot

ODP.NET, Unmanaged Driver uses unmanaged dependencies in the Oracle Client. The error you see means you have another Oracle Client installed on the Win2003 machine and ODP.NET is attempting to load the incorrect Oracle Client version, rather than the version you installed ODP.NET with.
What you need to do is direct ODP.NET where to find the correct version of its unamanaged Oracle Client dependencies. This will be generally the bin directory of your Oracle Client home that was installed with ODP.NET.
You can learn more about DllPath here:

If you're not familiar with how to set ODP.NET settings in the Registry or .NET config files, you can read how to do that here:

  • Install Oracle 11i Suite and Oracle 10g on same Server

    Hi
We are an Educational firm planning to launching Oracle 11i and 10g.
Can I install both the Oracle 11i E-Business Suite and Oracle 10g on the same Server? If it can What is best configuration for the Server that can I bought?
    provide Configuration too.
    thanks

"However, I do not suggest any windows platform for 11i as that is not so good os for 11i. You may either go far unix or linux" - 140042
That's absolutely right. It is better to have at least two linux/unix machines:
    # 1 machine for application server - admin, web, form, concurrent services
    # 2 machine for DB server
If you want, you may integrate Oracle apps 11.5.10 (on #1 and # machines) with OracleAS 10g (# machine).

  • Help with 11i E-Business Suite Install on Windows XP

I've tried unsuccessfully to install the E-Business Suite on Windows XP machine. I repeatedly get the following message during the install (I start from a clean restored environment each time) " RW-20001 Error: Unzip failed: Insufficient disk space: Please create enough space for the intstall". I get this message even though I have only used 100GB of a total of 500GB. I'm installing from DVDs provided by Oracle.
I also get an error message related to the "Listener". The detail of this message is included below.
Any suggestions to get past this would be appreciated.
Question on the Domain Name Configuration:
When i follow the instructions from a previous thread and do
    C:\ipconfig I get the following:
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix: PMSC.COM
    IP Address : 192.168.0.103
I added PMSC.COM per the instructions in the thread.
The original entry in the host file was:
    127.0.0.01 localhost
    It is now:
    127.0.0.01 localhost
    127.0.0.01 localhost.PMSC.COM
I'm trying to set this up as a standalone installation with everything on the harddrive of this computer. I'm confused as to what the correct host entry should be and if this is the cause of my intallation failures. I can provide as much information as possible to help diagnose my probelms. Thanks.
The only error messages I can find in the log files show a problem with the Listener. The error message is as follows:

    1. Make sure the user installing the apps has admin priviledges
    2. Create a staging area from the DVD if you can - since you have so much space on your system, then attempt the installation from the staging area. The perl script to use is already on the DVD - adautostg.pl
    3. > Connection-specific DNS Suffix: PMSC.COM
         IP Address : 192.168.0.103
    and you added
127.0.0.01 localhost.PMSC.COM, I feel it should have been
192.168.0.103 localhost.PMSC.COM ( if localhost is your server name. Adding this will nto affect anything)
although I can see from your log file, that the server name is pmsc_main, if so you have to add the servername.domainname.com to the host file too, such as
         192.168.0.103 pmsc_main.pmsc.com.
Essentially, when you ipconfig, it has to return pmsc_main.pmsc.com against the IP address of your server - i.e. 192.168.0.103 and / or 127.0.0.01
