How to kill a hung LCM migration

We have been using LCM to migrate metadata from planning applications for a while now. FOr a new app, we tried to use LCM to export app yesterday. It never finished running, nor did it create any folders or xml's related to the export.(It shows" In Progress' in the migration status report)
My question is: how od I kill this process?Any new exports I try to run are also getting frozen. An entire system restart also didn't help.
Is there a way to kill this process?
Thanks.

In general, operations like thread suspending/resuming, and stopping, are not considered "good practice". You would probably be better off modifying your application such that its threads can decide themlselves when they need to stop.
However, if you want to use the StopThread() call, you probably need to give it an object which is an instance of the java.lang.Exception class, or any subclass of it. To get an instance of Exception, check the JNI call that creates new objects (an Exception is just an object like any other). Or, what may be easier, make your Java application do "Exception x = new Exception();" and then pass this exception into the native code, and preserve it as a global reference there.

  • How to kill a shared services migration

    Hi all,
We are trying to run a shared services migration, and it seems to be running horribly slow. I want to kill it-not sure what the implications are.
Anyways, what are my options to kill it?
    Thanks,
    Sujani

Make sure you've done this if you have a problem: Re: Oracle EPM System Rel. 11.1.1.2 - Assign Essbase Filter in Shared Services
Follow John Goodwin's steps in this post: Unable to assign filters in Shared Services
Note Glenn's comment about sometimes having to assign the filters through MaxL because of issues although I think John's answer in the first post should help a lot.

  • LCM migration hung up

How can we cancel an LCM migration job that is hung? Running Planning Classic 11.1.1.3 and we've successfully used LCM several times for import to prod.
Now we were running an export of all objects in a Prod Planning app to a file to enable moving selected dimensions to the test environment.
    The job won't finish.

If it is a pure planning application then restarting planning may release the connection, if not then it would shared services that would need restarting.
    Cheers

  • LCM Migration No Longer Working

LCM migrations(Hyperion v11.1.2) are getting "stuck" at the point where Migration Status Report shows "Status = In Progress" but they do not complete. This used to work but no longer works. No known changes to the environment or setup
    1) Have tried running using various logins, but same result. Occurs regardless of migration attempted (Shared Services, Essbase, Planning artifacts, etc)
    2) No files are sent to the "\IMPORT\EXPORT\" directory on the Foundation server
    3) There are xml files created in the MSR (Migration Status Report" directory. They point to a problem with the password for "Credentials user="CSSTOKEN" (shown below)
Any suggestions on what may be occurring and how to get LCM working?

    <ConnectionInfo name="AppConnection2" type="Application" product="ESBAPP" project="EssbaseCluster-1" application="TestRptg" HSSConnection="MyHSS-Connection1" description="Source Application" />

Could it be that the username that you are using for the migration doesn't have all of the rights it needs for the app you are trying to migrate?
IOW, have you tried it with just plain admin instead of test_admin?

  • Stuck in LCM Migration 11.1.1.3

In the middle of an LCM migration of a 11.1.1.3 Planning application. I did a successful export of all Planning artifacts using username "user1". I then went to import (via ftp) the export folders into the destination environment and ran into the following issues:
On the destination environment there is no "user1" configured in Shared Services, nor do I have access to a user with provisioning roles. Consequently, there is also no user1@NativeDirectory folder in the Hyperion\common\import_export directory.
I created a user1@NativeDirectory folder in the Hyperion\common\import_export directory (was not sure if it would work but figured I'd try) and copied the LCM source export files there. When I then went to shared services, I don't see anything under file system and am therefore unable to proceed with the migration.
Any insights as to how to solve my issue?

    John,
It's working now - in admin@NativeDirectory, there needs to be a space between Native and Directory. That is what I was missing. Thanks - marking your posts helpful as usual :)
Also not an issue - but I had a question: I have two shell applications on the destination environment, and I want to import to one of them. I am reviewing the steps where I define the import - I can't seem to find where i specify WHICH of the 2 destination applications I am importing to. Do the source and target applications need to be the same name ?

  • How to kill EPMA Deployment

    Hi,
I have EPMA 11.1.1.3 and after making some changes in account and location dimensions i started deploying the app.It was initialed at around 6pm..i informed by client that it usaully takes aroung 6 and half hours to complete the deployment but after 8 hours i checked the Job its still it was going on and it might have hung up at 6%..Main thing all the changes have been reflectd in Hyperion Planning...So my question is how to kill this job running on?
    Thanks in advance.
    Pranav

So my question is how to kill this job running on?^^^I thought I was going to hear "Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure" EPMA can be Alien-like.
it usaully takes aroung 6 and half hours to complete the deployment but after 8 hours ^^^Really? That's amazing. I suspect you are forcing a dense restructure this time so that might be part of the issue. Has the Essbase restructure happened yet?
I would be unbelievably suspicious/completely unaccepting of any metadata build that took 6 hours. There has to be a better way.

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    or here:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • How can we do the data migration between Oracle Applications and SAP R/3.

    Hi All,
How can we do the data migration between Oracle Applications and SAP R/3 system. What are all the possible ways to move bulk data from Oracle Apps to SAP r/3 system.
Provide any 3rd party tools which supports data migration and also pls rpovide the SAP's own data migration tools with supports the above feature.
    Awaiting for best possible solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Dharmaraju

the 3rd party tool is ETL , you can use ETL tool and the prepare the load files then you can use LSMW method to upload the data to SAP.

  • How to clear the hung calls in CUBE?

I'm installing a new CUBE as SIP-SIP gateway in Cisco 2921, IOS: 15.1(4)M3. When i tried few test calls, I saw couple of hung calls in it.
I tried clearing them manually with the below command but it didn't help.
    clear call voice causecode identifier{id identifier | media-inactive | calling-number number | called-number number}
The call legs are still in connecting status.

Also, I tried enabling media inactivity timer but it would clear only the calls in 'Connected' status If I understand correctly.
how to clear those hung calls? and what could be the cause of it?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Suresh

    Suresh have you tried this:
    ip rtcp report interval 5000
    gateway
    timer media-inactive 5
The challenge you may face is that the media inactivity was not configured before this call started, hence it cant activate the time for this particular call...
Give it a go, lets know if it works. Even if it doesnt I suggest you enable this on your CUBE going forward, so you dont haver hung calls in the future
example: You can use the debug ccsip events to see the media inactivity timer kicking in for a call...
    Router# debug ccsip events
00:04:29: sipSPICreateAndStartRtpTimer: Valid RTP/RTCP session found and CLI ena
bled to create and start the inactivity timer
00:04:29: sipSPICreateAndStartRtpTimer:Media Inactivity timer created for call.
    Mfactor(from CLI): 5 RTCP bandwidth: 500
    RTCP Interval(in ms): 5000
    Normalized RTCP interval (in ms):25000

  • How to kill TP process at OS Level

    Dear ALL,
How to kill the TP process at OS level
    Operating System : win 2003

Q.1 Different Method for Kernel Upgradation
So far till now, I have known only one method for Kernel upgradation which is very very simple. I dont think we need any other work-around for Kernel upgrade as this method is very very straight forward. The steps to be followed are ---
Go to the SAP OSS Site :-
    http://service.sap.com/SWCenter-Main
From here Download the kernel programs in a temporary folder or use Download Basket toi download the Kernel.
Now shutdown the R/3 database and all services including saposcol.
Create a folder and copy the original executables from  /exe/run/ directory then uncar the downloaded files and replace the original executables in /exe/run/ directory.
    Then restart your system.
A couple of important points to remember are :-.
    a) Always make a copy of the files you're going to replace. For e.g. Create a directory (oldkern) and copy all the old files before replacing them (this helps when sometimes the new Kernel has problems, and you can revert it)
    b) You have to shutdown SAP and the Database using the OLD kernel file. Again it is good practice to shutdown everything first.

  • How to kill process/Actavity in SAP ?

How to kill process/Actavity in SAP ?

The core file contains the memory state of the work process at the point it was terminated. You could use it for debugging the work process if you had access to the kernel source code, which you don't unless you are SAP. For most people, then, the core file is of no interest and just takes up space in the operating system's file system. Using "cancel without core" is the thing to do.
That said, sometimes I find "cancel without core" doesn't actually work but "cancel with core" does. I always try without core first, but occasionally have to resort to with core. If you do cancel with core, make sure to go and delete the core file afterwards to avoid the file system filling up. Work process core files can be large. You'll find it in a directory/folder here - /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS00/work (substitute DVEBMGS00 as appropriate).
