How to query based on fields in subclass

We have 5 classes: Component, ManagedElement, System, Service and UpsService. System and Service extend ManagedElement, and UpsService extends Service. Component links two ManagedElements. There are other classes that also extend Service.
If I try to write a query expression using ExpressionBuilder to get a list of Systems containing a UpsService with a particular attribute (eg, NumberOfPacks = 2), I get an exception, presumably because the Expression framework only knows about ManagedElements associated with a Component, since that's what Component links together; fields specific to particular subclasses of ManagedElement are not accessible (as I'm sure it's not possible to know ahead of time what subclasses one might load).
I can get a list of all Systems with a UpsService component easily enough by looking for the classIndicatorValue of UpsService. And of course I can get a collection of UpsServices with NumberOfPacks=2 easily enough. But is there a way to construct a query that gives me a collection of Systems that have a UpsService Component with NumberOfPacks=2?

I think it's related, but it doesn't quite solve the problem I have.
In this case, the table Component maps to does not contain the key I want to search on; for this reason, I can't create a query key that references the field that I want- it's off in another table.
The subclass already has the query key by virtue of the key having a direct-to-field mapping.
What I really need to do is hint to Toplink that it needs to join another table and know about the table and field in the subclass so I can include it in an expression.

Also possible would be to create an XML-FO with sql or pl/sql.
And then use Apache-FOP to convert the XML-FO into a pdf, rtf or whatever you want.
No extra costs but the effort to learn a bit about the fo elements/syntax.
I think the newer Apex-Versions can doing something like this also. Maybe additionally ask in the Apex Forums.

  • How to query a datetime field with a datetime offset value

    Hi Experts
I have a problem where I want to query a date time field with a value with a date time offset, and convert the value to the stored timezone.
The functionality I am after is that the user enters the value 30/08/2011 22:14:46 -4:00 and the report converts it into the timezone of the stored field and performs the query using the date time filter and the local equivilent of the date time entered.
Has anyone had experience in date time offsets and OBIEE?
    suggestions appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi,
    Use below one
cast the timestampadd (sql_tsi_year, -1, timestampadd (sql_tsi_day, -1, current_timestamp)) to a date and see if it
drops the current time stamp and makes it 00:00:00

I am new to writing code in infset query and there are so many code areas in infoset query. I am confused where to write code and how to limit the output list based on the user selection to the additional fields "Job function" and "job family". have any one done this in the past?. is there sample code somewhere to do something similar to this?

  • How to increase performanceof query based on Infoset?

How to increase the performance of a query based on a Infoset?
As per designing of query, all the necessary fields are placed where they are required.

    Hi  Akshara ,
To improve performanceof query try to remove unnecessary characteristics, attributes, or key figures ,Superfluous conditions or variables .Large InfoCubes and Complex hierarchies .Variables populated by user exits
For characteristics specify either variables or restrictions .
You can create indexes on DSO and Aggregates on cubes (if any).

  • How to build a query based on(UNION) 3 vendor InfoObject

    Dear Experts:
    I have a requirement to build one query based on 3 vendor InfoObjct: 0VENDOR + 0VEN_COMPC + 0VEN_PURORG.
I tried to build a multiprovider upon these 3 infoobjects, but when I Identify(Assign) the key for each InfoObject, supposely there should be 3 InfoObject for me to check (0VENDOR, 0VEN_COMPC and 0VEN_PURORG) so that I can UNION these 3 infoobjects together on vendor number. But since the reference infoobject of these 3 vendor master data is different, I can not check the 3 together.
Can anybody let me know how to build that query? I only need vendor number show once, and the attributes of 0VEN_COMPC and 0VEN_PURORG can be union to 0vENDOR.
Any post would be appreciated and thank you all in advance!
    Best Regards!
    Tim

    Hi,
you can create a link between the vendor objects itself, means link 0vendor with 0ven_compc and 0ven_purorg. This should give you a list of all vendors multiplied with the comp codes multiplied with the purch. org. May be here it is possible to create another link between a attribute (eg. comp_code of 0ven_purorg with comp_code of 0ven_compc). In case it is not possible you need to add this link information somehow. Another option might be to create 2 queries. One on a infoset of 0vendor and 0ven_purorg and another one on 0vendor and 0ven_compc.
    regards

  • How to create Formula based value field in COPA

    Hi,
I want to know how to create formula based  value field in COPA
My Requirement is i want to collect some value in formula based value field and want to use in copa allocation cycle as a tracing
    factor.
anybody give some light on the same topic or requirement ?
    Thanks
    Nilesh R

The key figure you are creating in KE2K is not a value field, i.e. you can't post to it and you can't use it in a report. It is a caluculated value that can be used only in assessment and top-down-distribution.
In Ke2K, enter a name for your key figure, then click on the the white sheet button to create it. Now the formular area is open for input. Input your formular (e.g. VV001 + VV002 - VV003 .... where VVXXX are the technical names of value fields).
Now click the "check formuar"-button. Then save.
Before you can use the key figure in assessment, execute TC KEUG.
Now the key figure is available as any value field in the tracing factor selection of your assessment cycle.
I hope this made it clearer.

I want to use the query result of query based view object in backing bean.
How can i do the same
    Please Solve this
    Thanks

    Hi,
Assuming ADF is in the picture
    1. Create a PageDef file for the page (right mouse click "Go to Page Definition")
    2. In the Executable section, create an iterator for the View Object
    3. In the managed bean:
    BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding iter = (DCIteratorBinding ) bindings.get("name of Iterator");
    iter.execute();
    // ... navigate the iterator rows ...//

    Hi Surendra,
Thanks for the reply and your suggestion. It will be great if you can help me to answer the below:
    1) What exactly we mean by Control Query - Any example will be very helpful
    2) As you mentioned, yes the user exist to be written will be for user-exit variable for dynamic period selection - An Example on how to create this will be helpful
    3) Once the above variable is created, what are the steps to include this variable in the Bex Query?
    4) Once all the queries to be used in dashboard are implemented with the exit variable, how to create a variant to be used in Broadcasting?
    5) How and where to configure the email recipients (to whom this dashboard will be sent via mail)?
    6) How to set up the BW broadcaster in BW 3.5 using the control query ?( My question is though we have to send the dashboard to the users, which has multiple queries, how a single control query with variant will help us).
    Awaiting your reply.

  • How to deploy configuration manager client package to a query based collection

    Hi
I have created one OU based collection. Now i wants to deploy client package to this collection so that the client automatically get installed, whenever a new machine added to the OU and so on to the collection.
But the issue is with configuration manager client package deployment,as we can't deploy the default configuration package to the collection(Deploy option is grayed out). For this i created a new configuration manager client package and deployed this package
    to the query based collection.
Now when a new machine added to this collection, the client did not appear to deploy on this machine. Please help

If you want all the devices in the OU to get the client, you can use a Computer Startup Script to deploy it.  Everybody just uses Jason's since it does everything and is well documented.

  • How to query two data blocks simultaneously?

    Dear all,
Need your inputs on the following problem statement...
    Existing Functionality:
We have two data blocks A (Parent) and B (Child) in a relationship. Both data blocks refer to different tables.
Data block A is the query data block and for a single record in block A we can have multiple records in block B. Multiple records in block B are shown one at a time after executing a query, this is implemented by using a list item C (belongs to a third block).
    For example
Let us say block B can have 5 different types of entries for each record in block A. In this case the list item C will have 5 values corresponding to these entries. Once the query is executed, block B will show the default entry for the queried record in block A. To see other entries for the record user can select the required value in list item C and corresponding entry in block B will be fetched.
    Requirement:
Our requirement now is to enable querying upon both data blocks A and B simultaneously. To implement this I replaced data blocks A and B with a single data block X which is based on the join of the two tables referred by the Data blocks A and B earlier. As the fields should allow insert, update, delete operations we did not use a view here.
    Issue:
Now the problem is, each record in block A for which block B had multiple entries earlier is now getting listed multiple times because of the join.
I have tried but could not find any solution for this. I would appreciate if any of you can suggest how we can query both blocks simultaneously without affecting the existing functionality.
    Thanks,
    Amit

I don't understand your requirement in detail. I try to repeat what i understood so far.
You have a master-block A based on a table A and a detail-block B based on a table B. So far so good. You can now query based on conditions just the datablock A, because B is a detail and therefore can only be queryied in context of block A.
Your reuirement is to query on both blocks A and B and find block in B also without giving conditions for the relevant block A.
    Is it that ?
What i don't understand, what is block C used for?
An idea for the querying of block B's data: Create Non-database-items items in block A for the search-criteria you need on block B and make them Queryable.
In the PRE-QUERY-trigger on block A build a WHERE-condition if that search-criteria is entered, something like
IF :BLOCK_A.SEARCH_CRITERIA_FOR_BLOCK_B IS NOT NULL THEN
      SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY('BLOCK_A', ONETIME_WHERE, 'WHERE PKVALUE IN (SELECT FKVALUE_TO_A FROM TABLE_B WHERE FIELDVALUE=' ||:BLOCK_A.SEARCH_CRITERIA_FOR_BLOCK_B)');
END IF;This would query also records to A for which you want to have the B-records. So you could keep block-structure up to master-detail.

  • SELECT QUERY  BASED ON SECONDARY INDEX

    Hi all,
CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO WRITE SELECT QUERY BASED ON SECONDARY INDEX.
IN WHAT WAY DOES IT IMPROVE PERFORMANCE.
i KNOW WHEN CREATING SECONDARY INDEX I NEED TO GIVE AN INDEX NO -iT SHOULD BE ANY NUMBER RIGHT?
I HAVE TO LIST ALL PRIMARY KEYS FIRST AND THEN THE FIELD FOR WHICH I AM CREATING SECONDARY INDEX RIGHT?
LETS SAY I HAVE 2 PRIMARY KEYS AND I WANT TO CREATE SEONDARY INDEX FOR 2 FIELDS THEN
I NEED TO CREATE A SEPERTE SECONDARY INDEX FOR EACH ONE OF THOSE FIELDS OR ONE SHOULD BE ENOUGH
pLS LET ME KNOW IF IAM WRONG

    HI,
If you cannot use the primary index to determine the result set because, for example, none of the primary index fields occur in the WHERE or HAVINGclauses, the system searches through the entire table (full table scan). For this case, you can create secondary indexes, which can restrict the number of table entries searched to form the result set.
You create secondary indexes using the ABAP Dictionary. There you can create its columns and define it as UNIQUE. However, you should not create secondary indexes to cover all possible combinations of fields.
Only create one if you select data by fields that are not contained in another index, and the performance is very poor. Furthermore, you should only create secondary indexes for database tables from which you mainly read, since indexes have to be updated each time the database table is changed. <b>As a rule, secondary indexes should not contain more than four fields</b>, <b>and you should not have more than five indexes for a single database table</b>.
<b>What to Keep in Mind for Secondary Indexes:</b>
