hi
i m working on data base whose system datafile file is around 5GB in size
n around 200 user in it.
i have aleady tarnsfer all user and its segment to another table space.
but when i pass this command: 'alter database datafile 'c:\oracle\oradata\system01.dbf' resize 4000m;

Thanx

hi use this query to check the HWM of a tablespace associated datafile;
col fname format a75 justify c heading 'FileName'
col totsiz format 999,999,990 justify c heading 'Total|(KB)'
col avasiz format 999,999,990 justify c heading 'Available|(KB)'
col pctusd format 990 justify c heading 'Pct|Used'
comp sum of totsiz avasiz on report
break on report
select
total.file_name fname,
total.bytes/1024 totsiz,
nvl(sum(free.bytes)/1024,0) avasiz,
(1-nvl(sum(free.bytes),0)/total.bytes)*100 pctusd
from
dba_data_files total,
dba_free_space free
where
total.tablespace_name = 'TABLESPACE_NAME'
and total.tablespace_name = free.tablespace_name(+)
and total.file_id=free.file_id(+)

  • How to Configur Oracle System

    Hi,
    I configured SAP R/3 System on portal.
    and also i created transactinoal iveiw using R/3.
    Let me know how to connect oracle system and how to create iview to show date which there in oracle date base.
    For example
    i want to show of EMP table in oracle on portal iview.
    please help..
    regards
    praksh..

    Hi
    You can connect to a database using a JDBC iview already present in PCD or you can create a portal archive file which contains a servlet or JSP using simple JDBC API of java   .the portal component that can be used is abstract portal component or jsp dynpage but as you wite code in java you can do the same thing here.Register drivers in system before you connect it and then deploy the portal component using Netwever developer studio or uploading archive straight away through pcd inspector .Just use ip address in code if it is a distributed data base which must be in same domain as portal otherwise need to build trust relationship between two domains.hope this helps you please do not forget to give points

  • How to reduce oracle DB's size?

    Hi,All
    After upgrading NW7.0 to NW7.0 EHP1, the oracle's changed from 37GB to 70GB, How to reduce the DB's size?
    Thanks.
    Best regards
    Jiande Ding

    Hi,
    1.From DB02--> detail analysis menu you can take out top 50 tables & indexes. you can mark the size of the index should be generally less than the table.If its more or very much similar size of table, you can rebuild it using SE14. This can free some space.
    or else you may use brspace to do this.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/58/6bec38c9fa7e44b7f2163905863575/frameset.htm
    In case of table this option is risky as it may result in data loss.
    2. Earlywatch alert gives the top 20 degenrated index. you can check that which also gives a factor 'storage quality'.
    3. Run report SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES. It removes temporary database objects. ( we do this in our BW system)
    Hope this helps

  • How to recover database SYSTEM datafile get corrupt ?

    Database is in ARCHIVELOG mode, and the datafile belonging to SYSTEM tablespace gets corrupted. Up to what point can I recover the database ?
    A. Until last commit.
    B. Until the time you perform recovery.
    C. Until the time the datafile got corrupted.
    D. You cannot recover the SYSTEM tablespace and you must be re-create the database.
    and 1 more doubt :
    If redologfiles are not multiplexed and redolog blocks get corrupt in group 2, and archiving stops. All redolog files are filled and database activity is halted.
    DBWR has written everything to disk. What command can be used to proceed further ?
    A. recover logfile block group 2;
    B. alter database drop logfile group 2;
    C. alter database clear logfile group 2;
    D. alter database recover logfile group 2;
    E. alter database clear unarchived lofile group 2;
    Edited by: user642367 on Sep 18, 2008 8:45 PM

    1. A. Since the DB is in archivelog mode, so you can always restore and recover the whole DB including system tablespace datafile till last SCN generated provided the redo record is available in archive/online logfiles.
    2. E. Since only redolog is corrupted so archiver won't proceed and hence a db hang is obvious, So, in order to proceed further you need to clear online (un archived log file) and then db will work as usual. Care should be taken that you must take a full backkup of DB(cold backup wherever feasible) as soon as possible after issuing this command. As now you don't have redo info in archivelog files to recover the db in case of a crash.
    Please go through Oracle 10g DB Administrators guide (available on OTN) for more details.
    Thanks

  • How to reduce Oracle ADF Mobile deployed file

    Hi
    I'm creating simple demos with Oracle ADF Mobile and the deployed file is more than 50mb. Is there a way to reduce this size? Maybe remove some unused features llike SQLLite?

    My simple demo IPA files have been around 20MB with the default splashscreens and such, the only time it was bigger was when some files mistakenly got included. You could always load resources on-demand the first time over http and cache them in the app documents. This way you could only download the graphics for the current platform (so if it's a phone, you don't download iPad banners and graphics that your app needs)

  • How to reduce the database size based on MS SQL/Oracle?

    Hi,
    I had deleted severy clients via SCC5, but the database size is more and more bigger. Do you know how to reduce the database size.
    my platform is: NT, MS SQL 2005
                           NT, Oracle 10.2
    Best Regards,
    Simon Shen

    Hi Simon,
    In the case of SQL you need to check how many space free you have in your datafiles and the based on that you need to Shrink them using DBCC SHRINKFILE command.
    Find a couple of reference docs here,
    http://www.intermedia.net/support/kb/default.asp?id=996
    http://doc.ddart.net/mssql/sql70/dbcc_21.htm
    Also i'm pretty sure that if your check the properties of the datafiles in MSSQL Enterprise Manager you get a "Shrink" option.

  • How to reduce the size of cloned Oracle Applications Instance

    How to reduce the size of cloned Oracle applications instance, so as to save the storage space for the cloned systems.
    How can we remove unimplemented modules in the instance so that we can reclaim the space occupied by them.
    can any please suggest on this..?

    mumbai,
    I would recommend to leave it as it is.
    If you can add some inexpensive HDD to your test system then do so.
    The Apps DB storage decreasing process is quite painful and isn't straightforward.
    You can’t just delete unused schemas & tablesapces (if they are not used than they are not consuming reasonable space anyway). The modules in Apps are using each other procedures and objects. The effect of deleting one module (schema) is highly unpredictable.
    If you will do something like that than you will not be able to patch your cloned system after that.
    Some things can be done however in order to reduce size of a testing Apps system:
    - Decries UNDO & TEMP tablespaces. Normally you do not need that big tbs in test system as you have got in the production.
    - If your REDO LOG files are quite big and you have got a lot of redo groups you can recreated smaller REDO log files.
    - On Apps tier you can delete OUTput and LOG files
    In case you still would like to decrease data volume in your testing system you need to take a look on some tools which provide data subtracting capabilities from Apps DB. This process has to be quite intelligent. The tool have to know the data structures in APPS DB and subtract data in the way to not harm logical relationships between records. After a subtracting process you will need to make multiple FULL exp/imp cycles in order to reduce physical space consumed by the database. Beside the fact that those tools are quite expensive you will need to spend a lot of your time to implement those.
    BTW: That is the size of you production DB? Have you analyzed which module takes most of the space? May be you can identify top 10 objects and try to archive a data from those object preventing the future grow of the production database.

    3. Now i m installing Oracle forms 11g 64(-bit). its show me an error (INST-07407: Unable to detect machine platform or JVM bits)It looks like you are installing the 32-bit version of Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11g - not the 64-bit version. As a test, install the 32-bit JRE and run the FMw installer again. If it continues past this point - you've got the 32-bit installer and not the 64-bit installer. :)

  • How to reduce system's ram usage

    I noticed that Lion is eating up about 90% of my MBA's 2GB RAM. With Snow Leopard, the laptop has almost never ran out of memory (it occasionally did when I ran very memory-intensive app such as Windows XP in VirtualBox). With Lion, my memory is almost always at 10-20 MB free (the same level of free memory when I ran WindowsXP VirtualBox). System usage up to 33% most of the time. And the exhaust fan is running like crazy. Most notably is that all of that happens when I run a normal load: browsing Safari while listenning to iTunes.
    I don't know which system threads are running in the background that eat up that whole lot of memory. So what are the most memory-hogging system features and how can I turn them off to reduce the system's usage of memory? Thanks.

    Open up Activity Monitor (from Utilities) and select "All Processes". Then you can see what is going on.  Latest Safari is a pig and will use lots of RAM.
    I gotta say, 2 MB is precious little RAM. Since the Mac plus, the minimium required RAM by Apple has always been enough to run the software, but has never been enough to run it well, IMO.

  • How to reduce the size of System tables(RS*) in SAP BW?

    Hi All,
    We need to reduce the size of a system tables(RS*) in SAP BW system without impacting anything to system.
    Could you please let us know is there any Global program/Function module to do the same.
    If not if you know any individual program or other way to reduce the system table size it will be very much useful.
    Sample System tables(RS*) are given below.
    RSHIENODETMP
    RSBERRORLOG
    RSHIENODETMP~0
    RSBMNODES
    RSBKDATA
    RSBMNODES~001
    RSRWBSTORE
    RSBMLOGPAR
    RSBERRORLOG~0

    Sudhakar,
    There are tables you can archive / clean up and then there are tables you cannot do anything about. For example - if your system has a million queries - the RSRREPDIR , RZCOMPDIR tables will be large.
    The tables that typically get archived are :
    1. BALDAT / BALHDR - application log tables
    2. Monitor tables - search for Request archiving which will tell you how to archive the same
    The other tables -
    First you would have to understand why they are large in the first place ... if you have too many hierarchies - then some tables can be huge - delete some of the hierarchies you do not need and the table sizes should come down.
    RSRWBSTORE - this is the internal store for workbooks - this will have the last executed version of the workbook stored in the table. This information is called when the workbook is executed without refreshing the variables - which is why you get the workbook output first and then get prompted to refresh the variables.

  • How to recreate system datafile

    Hi all,
    I am trying to restore an Oracle v.8.0.4 database. My problem is that i don't have the system datafile. All the other files (control files, log files, datafiles) exist.
    I have a full export dump of the DB which is one month old. Is it possible to recreate the system datafile?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
    I have a full export dump of the DB If you want restore a database with a dump, the only one way is to pre create a database (as Neil suggested).

    Why don't you start with the documentation: Coordinate Systems (Spatial Reference Systems)
    Especially paragraph 6.9 (6.9 Creating a User-Defined Coordinate Reference System ) should be helpful for you.
