  • How to search specific text/string in pdf files from command prompt?

    Hi,
How to search specific text/string in pdf files from command prompt?
Will be great if you can refer to any adobe provided command base utility to achieve the above target.
    Best Regards,

You can't. The commandline parameters for Acrobat and Adobe Reader do not allow any type of commands to be run.

  • Searching for links across multiple pdf files

We have thousands of pdf files that are being moved to a new website. Some of these pdf files have links within them (either as text or as a hyperlink). This number is unknown.
The issue is how to programmatically search across multiple pdf files (numbering in the thousands) looking for links using a regular expression or part of a path. This will have to be able to search behind the text and search for the link url.
We first need to identify the number of files with links and create a list of the files with links that need modifying. If the number is too great to modify manually, then we would need the ability to programmatically edit these links.
The pdf files are stored in a database. Also, the pdf files are different versions and some are password protected.
Is there an Adobe product that will perform this? If not, are there any 3rd party vendor products that will accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have no solution, but a thought: the database factor may seem to be
a killer. But you could look for a solution designed to read PDF files
from a web site (by spidering or from a list), which would presumably
    load them.
Or could do a one off extraction of the files from the database into a
directory and use that for your process. Probably a very good idea,
since extracting all files from the database is likely to be costly
and hammer the server (but can be scheduled at a sensible pace), while
the search process will (if it is possible at all) doubtless need to
    be run countless times.

How can I print multiple PDF files at once, on an HP LJ Pro 400 xcolocr printer without opening each
    one separately using Windows 7?

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
    I hope this helps.

  • I am a computer novice, but how do I change text in a pdf file?

I am a computer novice, but how do I change text in a pdf file that was sent to me?

I would try Acrobat out, you can't do that in Adobe Reader.

How do you change text on a PDF file

If at all possible, you don't. You get the original (pre-PDF file), you edit that.
Adobe Acrobat has some very limited facilities which sometimes allow very simple text edits to PDF (e.g. change a phone number).

  • Why am I unable to open multiple PDF files at once?

I'm trying to open and view 28 PDF files, but am unable to do so.  I have recently upgraded my computer and am now using Windows 7 with 12 GB of RAM.  On my older system I was able to open this many PDF files at once, but now I am not able to do so.  I can selects and open about 10 PDF files, but when I choose more than that and right-click on the files I do not get an option to open the files.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Select 10 files and open the files, then select and open the next 10 files.

  • How to change the name of a pdf file in iBooks on ipad

I have a number of appliance and tool manuals  as pdf files uploaded to my iPad. In order to identify them easier I would like to change the names of the files. I changed them in iTunes on my computer but they do not change on the iPad2 when I sync. Is there a  way to do this?

    Greg,
I had been working on this a while and found what worked.  Save the pdf to your desktop with the file name as you want it.  Open up itunes on half of your monitor.  Drag the file to the library section of itunes (music, videos, books, movies etc...).  When you drag to the library section, it will put it the book section of itunes.  Sync and you will see the file in ibooks on your ipad.  Give it shot.

  • Cannot search for text in a PDF in Safari

I was previously able to use the "search in this document" when viewing a PDF in Safari. This no longer works and I always get "No Matches" when the word is actually in the PDF document. I installed the Chrome app and its "Find in Page" function is grayed out on PDFs so I can't search a PDF for text using it either.
I have uninstalled Adobe Reader and reset all iPhone settings under General and it still doesn't work. I am using iOS 8.1.2 and iPhone 6. Thanks.

I noticed the same problem too and have yet to find a solution. This was an issue with iOS 8.1.1:  http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1814335&page=2  (scroll down to posting #42)

I just lost a vital email -- detailed instructions for something I want to do, from a friend. And I don't know where I put it (overlapping possibilities exist within my filing structure).
SHHHH: Windows used to let me search for specific text, inside documents, not just file or folder titles. Can I do that in OSX.8.2?

  • How to search for speech inside premiere once I have analyzed speech without adobe story

Is there a way to find text speech inside the metadata speech analysis window?
    Thank you.

Thanks! This is very good. The assumption for this work flow is that you already have a word-perfect transcript file (my case - this makes the AME voice-to-text engine FAR more accurate, because it only has to find word timings - less deciphering of words. I used this workflow to produce a valid .srt file for use elsewhere. For work inside PrProCC, it is indeed the missing bridge between speech recognition and caption editing.
Captiontube seemed promising, in that it is supposed to accept an ordinary .txt file as the transcript, but I could not get it to accept any movie URLs I entered. If you do NOT have a literal transcript to start with, then the speech recognition in Camtasia Studio 8 (uses the Windows speech recognition engine, I think) is about the same (in)accuracy as AME.

  • Search & replace text programmatically in pdf file

I need to search & replace text programmatically (preferably in .NET c#) in existing pdf file.
Does anyone know how to do it (maybe with with Acrobat SDK) ?
    Thanks in advance!
    A.
PS: Well done working example :-)

Searching APIs are provided, but there no APIs for replacing since that's not a standard operation on a PDF (given the rendering model).

  • Pdf files - how can I add text to a pdf file

I want to allow my Google group to fill info out on a Numbers form, but the Mac users evidently don't have Numbers. I sent it to them as a pdf file, but text can't be added to it as a pdf file. There has got to be a way. I tried using Tools - annotate - add text, but that didn't really work. Any help?

Because you are recent switcher to OS X I'd strongly recommend bookmarking and using these links, they're designed for those that have recent made the switch and for this considing it.

  • Programmatically search for a word in PDF file

In the program I am developing, I am opening up a PDF file from the application. Is there any way to search for a particular word in the PDF file and move to the page containing the first occurance of that word in the PDF file programmatically? I am using VC++ to develop the application.
Any guidance is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply Leonard.<br />I am not using any library now. Currently I am just opening up the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Reader using ShellExecute() API passing the PDF filename. <br />Now I want to open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Reader, and move to the page containig a particular text automatically.<br />Is it possible through any command line arguments to AcroRd32.exe like, <br />AcroRd32.exe <filename.pdf> search:<wordtosearch><br />OR I have to use any third party library to do this.
