Hi,
You use the Xcelsius Add-On Packager (comes with the SDK) to create custom add-ons. Within this tool you can define visual components, connections or functions that can be exported as add-ons.
In order to define a visual component (the most used type) you need to first create two separate swf files. One contains your custom flex component, the other contains the interface (property sheet) the user will be using in Xcelsius to interact with the custom component.
1. Custom flex component (swf)
Develop your custom flex component as you normally do in Flex, Xcelsius SDK is not involved in any way here. Define component styles and public properties that can be later be accessed via the property sheet.
2. Property sheet (swf)
It's the interface to your custom component. Here end users can change fonts, colors, bind cell values to component properties, etc. This is possible via the Xcelsius SDK. Using the SDK you get to populate the interface initial values values with the default custom component style and property values. You can also initiate bindings here between component properties and cell values.
Under C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Xcelsius\SDK you can find both the full documentation and samples to get you started.

Prerequisites on start development for iOS

Good afternoon!
Let's start developing for iOS here in the company, and I would like to know what equipment and software needed to start.
I've been searching, and apparently I install an OS X Server in a virtual machine on the server to start the development. Is that possible? I mean, do not acquire any Apple machine, but only the software I need?

Okay people. Seriously where the heck do i get started here?
I downloaded
- JEdit to use as the editor
- Tomcat 6 for the web server
- Suns Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5.2 for CLDC
But, I can not find a single tutorial that actually functions and is not riddled with errors.
Can someone please post URLs to something that they have actually used and not just oh here is a tutorial i saw.

I dont know how this may seem, but I think there is a difference between developing for portable device and developing for the MIDP devices.
All the tutorials I could lay my hands on are talking about the MIDP profile as well and I have found one on say Personal Profile or others.
Can anyone clear me on this issue?

How to start developing an Enterprise Service

Hi everybody.
I'm a student who writes his diploma thesis at the moment.
My aim is to identify different serivce candidates with the aid of a roadmap methodology in my company. After doing a business process analysis and identifying all the IT systems and interfaces to external systems I want to develop a enterprise (web) service (with ABAP/Java) offering some type of masterdata from SAP HCM and deploy it to the Exchagne Infrastructure of my company.
But I don't know how to start. There is too much (poor) information. Until know I did not find concrete howto-guides with examples for "developing a service" (both ABAP and Java), "deploying and testing a service with XI". Could somebody give me some hints?
I have access to the ABAP workbench, XI and the NWDS and have read all the theoretical stuff about SOA and SAP ESOA.

How do I develop for multiple screen resolutions using Adobe Air

I'm looking at developing mobile apps using Adobe Air but there's something I'm not quite sure. Sorry if this is a newbie question or has been repeated but I have looked at tutorials, etc but just want to get a general idea on how to prepare the assets. Here are some of my questions:-
1) If I want to develop for the iPhone non-retina and retina resolution, do I actually need to only write the code and layout the graphics in retina(960 x 640) stage size and it will automatically scale down for non-retina resolution?
2) How do I cater for iPhone 5 resolution? Do I actually need to swap say the background images through code by detecting the resolution size it was in? or do I actually just leave the background image longer it exceeds the stage height so when it's iPhone 5 it will show everything?

If you are talking about regular Flash work, and not your own code-layout application, then what happens depends on the scale mode of the stage. Typically, when doing code layout the stage is set to no_scale, and you have to do all the hard work yourself, calculating the size of things, and laying them out with ActionScript.
If it's more of a typical Flash graphical scene there are two other scale modes that make life easier for you.
The default scale mode is show_all. With that you will be certain to see all of the content of your original Flash stage, and if the screen is a wider ratio than your stage, the content that is off the sides of the stage will be revealed. See this app I made, that uses that technique:

It works well enough, I have enough extra background graphics to go out to a 16:9 screen, including iPhone 5. That particular stage is 1024x768, and it will scale all the way from iPad 3 Retina down to iPhone 3gs.
The other scale mode that is useful is no_border. In that mode you are certain to not have any black borders around the stage. It achieves that by cropping into either the left and right, or the top and bottom, of the stage. See these apps I made, that work that way:

In both of those cases I have content that is correct for half way between the ratio limits of 16:9 and 4:3 (or 9:16 and 3:4 for the portrait case). When the app runs on your device, some amount of the left and right, or the top and bottom, of the stage is cropped. I have enough background content for that to be ok, and all of the important content is within the middle 14:9 or 9:14 area of the screen. The stage size for the landscape app is 1680xx1080, exactly 14:9. This approach is better than the show_all one, in that the user doesn't feel like they are seeing a lot of blank space, as can be the case when viewing a 4:3 stage on a 16:9 screen.
One last thing, even with either of those techniques the app won't fill the iPhone 5 screen. To get that to work you have to include a splash screen that is 640x1136, and name [email protected]. With that in place iOS knows to make your app use the full width or height of the iPhone 5.

How to start GUI for VM?

I have OVM 2.2.1 installed on server. On top of that I have created one VM using VM-template OEL5.5. This is done successfully. Now I want to install ORACLE 11g on this VM.
For that I run "vncserver" command on this VM (console and command prompt) which gives vnc port number also but when try to login through vncviewer it's not connected.
Is there any way to start GUI for this installed vm?

Earlier I was using OVM Server version 2.2.0 and now in my new setup I am using OVM Server version 2.2.1. By mistake I had delete the ovs-agent-2.3 directory in my new setup (2.2.1) from /opt and my all VM getting crashed because at VM startup it looks for this ovs-agent in /opt directory.
Now, I had copied the ovs-agent-2.3 from earlier version i.e. 2.2.0 to 2.2.1. And it works. All VMs are up and running.
So I just want to make it confirm that there is no change in ovs-agent version between 2.2.0 and 2.2.1. Can you please update me?

How can we develop for flash 10.1?

The flex sdk doesn't include any of the libraries for flash 10.1. Is there an updated sdk, or method to develop for the current 10.1 player?

Visual Studio Community 2013 on Windows 8.1 pro - how can I develop for Sharepoint (Office 365)?

As stated on the subject, I'd like to develop some solutions for my Office 365's SharePoint site.
I'm absolutely new to Visual Studio usage, too :-)
I downloaded and installed VS Community 2013 and SharePoint 2013 SDK (along with ... but still no luck, VS keeps saying that I need to have SharePoint installed locally in order to develop solutions for SharePoint.
What now?

Ok, I managed to:
remove the "somewhat offending" custom list (I'll add it later after realizing what I was doing wrong)
create one custom list without any specific feature (I called it List1)
create another list based on Contacts, kept absolutely default (called List2)
build&deploy the app
Ok, now the "app" is there (on my devel environment), doing absolutely nothing (because I didn't create any form or page or whatever). But I have a Contact list! I should be able to sync it to Outlook desktop!
This page helped me to understand how I can reach the list created inside the app (https://devtenant.sharepoint.com/AppName/Lists/List2)
... but I had a bad surprise: no option to sync the Contact list with my Outlook desktop application. This remains true even after having activated the "Offline Synchronization for External Lists" feature inside Site Settings/Site Features menu.
So, the Contact-like list inside the app has lost about 80% of interest... not being able to sync it with Outlook is a severe limitation. I'm assuming that every list created inside an app will suffer of the same problem, is it true?
By the way, how I'm supposed, after having eventually finished my work on the app, to install it on the "real" work environment, that is completely unrelated to the development site (being the "work" site a mere "Business
Premium" Subscription)?
I tried to deploy the app to the "non devel" site with no luck: VS says that the destination site is not configured for sideloading apps.

If you are in India, please contact SAP Education. They have separate evaluation process, without training you cannot attend unless you have trained with SAP / Authorised Training Center.
Please go through the blogs in Certification / Career space.

Here for each certification exam, you can see the syllabus.
You only need to study what is required for that exam, not the whole SAP basis.

SAP Mobility is hot now.
If you need a career change you can definitely become a SAP Mobility Consultant.
You need to talk to any of the SAP mobility consultant to get some idea on how the apps are developed or attend training provided by SAP.
Sybase Unwired Platform is the key in SAP mobility (Where business logic will be written). To become an SUP developer there is no need of any particular programming language.
My suggestion to you is learn SUP development and Android development (Since you know JAVA).

BUT now I find this weblogic server for desktop applications (forms) too.You have to keep in mind that Oracle Developer Suite 6i (Forms/Reports) is over 10 years old and was primarily a Client/Server development environment. Yes, a Forms 6i application could be deployed to the web, but infrastruction has changed many times in the 10+ years since Forms 6i was introduced.

If so, take a look at Developing Oracle Forms Applications or Oracle9i Developer: Developing Web Applications with Forms Builder. These are older books, but they will give you the basics of Oracle Forms development. Once you have the basics of Forms Development, then you can refer to the product documentation for specifics on the particular version of Forms you are using:

You can use MySQL with your web app only if you are not using Oracle Forms! Oracle Forms will only communicate with an Oracle Database. There are methods available to access data from non-Oracle database, but they involved linking your Oracle Database to the non-Oracle database and accessing the data through the Oracle Database.
