How to track user visit my page via search engine(google)

hi there,
is it possible to track that an user visited my page via search engine ( i.e google) using servlet?
what will request.getHeader("user-agent"); return if an user comes via search engine. will it return as "google" or just the browser name. is there any other possible way to distinguish that my page visited via google or user visited my page directly. kindly post your view on this. it will be helpful for most of the projects.

Check the referrer. This is the URL where the request is coming from.
String referrer = request.getHeader("referer"); // Yes, with the legendaric misspelling.If the user used Google, this will come from the Google domain.
Keep in mind that the client has full control over what it sends along the request, so it could also spoof the referrer value. But at least this solution will cover the majority of the users anyway.

Thanks for your answer. Let me ellaborate more on the requirement here.
- Password Policy and Lost Password management are set up in the identity system
- Configure login tries allowed= 5. Verify accout is lock out after 5 unsucessful login.
This is what need to achieve.
1) If a user attempts to login 3(not 5) times using an incorrect login credential he/she should be redirected to set challenge question (security question) page.
2) Then if the user attempts (remaining) 2 times incorrect challenge answer then his/her account should be locked out.
3) If he/she answers the challenge answer correctly then he/she should be redirected to password reset page.
Is this possible?

Where is the Home icon (House) that you clicked on to take you to your desired home page or search engine

Above should be clear enough. There was a home icon (a house clip-art) in the main Firefox toolbar that would take me to my search engine (Google) if I had it set-up as my home page. Where has that gone.

You can find the toolbar Home button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar.
You can drag the Home button from its current position at the right to the previous position at the left of the location bar if you do not like that new position.

Tutorial - how to track user progress in a Captivate movie

I wanted to start working with the new scripting capabilities
in Captivate 4 and thought a good first project would be to create
a set of variables and custom actions and execute the actions based
on the state of the variables. I wrote up a description/walkthrough

A couple of things I mention at the bottom of the post in
regards to the new features in CP4:
1. The actions window is amazingly slow once you add more
than a handful of actions. Perhaps it's just my machine? I have a
very fast machine with lots of ram, but perhaps it's something
unique to my environment?
2. You can't 'chain' actions. In other words, you cannot use
'execute multiple actions' setting to execute user-created actions,
just the built-in ones, which seems to me a pretty big limitation.
I had to work around it.
3. As an add-on to #1 above - there is no way to
import/export code. Since the actions window is so slow it would be
ideal if we could just import code written in a text file, or
better yet, have a simple code editor (like the actions panel in
Flash).

I think it is clear to those of us that have had to move to
Captivate from
Authorware that Captivate is *very* lacking in specific

How do I redirect to a page via a button but also populate a field on page2

I am trying to redirect to a second page via a button but at the same time populate a item on the second page from a function that returns a sequence.
I tried all sort of methods, adding page processing, adding dynamic actions, adding branching and cannot get this to work.
The button must create a new record on the second page, but populate unique key at the same time. Because redirecting does not Submit, adding page processing AFTER submit does not work. I get that, but the following also will not work and I don' know why
Create dummy field on page 1
Create page processing that populates the field via PL/SQL "On Submit"
Create Region button that simply Submits page
Create branch that on submit redirects to second page and moves the value from the dummy field on first page to the field on the seocnd page.
I am new to Application Express and love trying to figure issues out myself but am at a loss with something that should be so simple. Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to redirect to a second page via a button but at the same time populate a item on the second page from a function that returns a sequence.You want to goto page 2 from page one on click of a button, and when loading the page two you want to populate the item on page two with a sequence number.
if that is the case, try using Button,
Action: Redirect to page in this application
then on page two, create a page process,
Process Point:*On load before header*
Source >> Process >>
begin
select seq_name.nextval into :P2_ITEM from dual;
end;this should do your requirement.

Home Page - the search engine on my Firefox start page used to be google and has now changes to Ask . How to I get google back

I suspect some toolbar has changed the search engine on my home page which is the standard Mozilla Firefox start Page. It used to be google but now is Ask. I want to change it back to Google.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and do a search for ask.com via the Filter at the top of the about:config page. 
You can reset all ask.com related prefs that appear bold (user set) via the right-click context menu to their default values.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I want name on address bar goes to home page, not search engine

Just today I hooked up a new modem/router that I purchased at a WIndstream store. I have been browsing the internet for years with Firefox. I have changed the keyword.url setting in my Firefox configuration (see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/833252#answer-197476) so that the new version would act like the old version and go directly to the webpage when the name was typed in the address bar. For example: when I type in "windstream" (no ".net" or".com") I would go directly to windstream' home page.
However, when I hooked up my new modem/router I my browser is hijacked and goes to a Windstream search page. I have tried everything from re-installing Firefox, re-changing the "keyword.url" setting, I even tried the Firefox ad-on here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/browse-by-name/).
All to no avail......there is something that has changed by adding Windstream's hardware and connecting to their network that will not allow me to use this function of Firefox.
Nothing else changed, but a new piece of hardware.....

Re-installed Firefox after cleaning all history and cookies.

Tried to disable the feature through Windstream's web page, but then it just happens with the new search engine.

Opt-out of Windstream's search service: Type in something to get their sneaky web search page to come up, then click the tiny link at the bottom right "about this page". That sends you to a page where you can opt-out of their service.
To opt-out from their "valuable" sneaky service, you have to choose to opt-in to another search service.
You have to do this with each browser. And it still sends you to your search engine's results page, not to your URL the way you might want it to.
I would rather the default be to allow me to opt-in if I choose to, not have to jump through hoops to find out how to opt-out. It's taken me weeks to discover this. Annoying!

I'm using internet explorer(yuk!!) and am having trouble with getting back my search engine "google" and all i get is "blank page", can u help?

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Ever since the "improved Google" came out I hear a constant irregular clicking in the background as if Google is updating or checking Data. I cannot stand their new format either, giving me junk advertising that I did not want or ask for. How do I permanently delete all one click search engines from Firefox 34.0.5 except Google?

In previous versions there was a Delete or Remove button to permanently remove Search engine choices. This version has some several default choices that I cannot delete. Is this a feature you removed? Yahoo, Ask and Bing suck.

If a page uses Spry xml dataset to present products to a
visitor, what do google and yahoo crawlers see in that page?
I'm asking because i plan to rewrite our products' static
pages using spry xml dataset, and i'd like to ensure crawlers see
the products. I haven't looked much, yet, into this pry capability,
but the products page will most probably be paginated (not sure if
possible in this capability) since there are hundreds of products.
currently, our static html pages generated good conversions
into purchases from google and yahoo searches.
It would be great if there is a real-life website that uses
this spry capability and has their pages appear in those search
engines.

If a page uses Spry xml dataset to present products to a
visitor, what do google and yahoo crawlers see in that page?
search bot do not read / understand javascript. So they would
not index it.
Its a commen point of failure of the ajax techniques, Spry
has a handy solution for it (spry:content) wich will allow u to
overwrite 'content' if javascript is enabled so and bots will just
see the static page.
