How to troubleshoot a device in Windows
When a device is failing to operate, it is necessary to troubleshoot the device. The following process will take you through basic hardware troubleshooting.
Access Device Manager by pressing the Windows Key + Pause/Break key, then clicking Device Manager. Is the device seen in Device Manager?
If the device does not show up in Device Manager, you may have a hardware issue that requires service.
Does the device in Device Manager have an X or ! on it?
If the device has a red X by the name, this means the device is disabled. You can right click on the device, and select Enable to make the device active.
A yellow ! symbol indicates there is a problem with the device. You can attempt to resolve the issue by uninstalling and re-installing the driver.
Download and install the latest driver for the device from our website.
If all of this fails to correct the issue, you may have a hardware issue and should contact Acer technical support to inquire about setting your product up for repair.

Figuring out how to access a device using Windows.Devices.HumanInterfaceDevice?
Before I start, I would like to share this link I used to access windows RT libraries from Desktop applications (only the ones stated in MSDN documentation that are accessible from desktop applications):
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cdndevs/archive/2013/10/02/using-windows-8-winrt-apis-in-net-desktop-applications.aspx .
After following the above instructions you can import some of the windows RT libraries in references. I have been trying to use the Windows.Devices.HumanInterfaceDevice library. I think my UsagePage and UsageId are off though. I am wondering
if someone good in hex can translate them from my report descriptor. I already have the VID and PID (this should be enough along with the path if I called write file or some of the other win32/OS api's). Here's the code I am using in VB.NET:
Public Class VirtualMouseDeviceOpen
Class Enumeration
' Enumerate HID devices
Public Async Function EnumerateHidDevices() As Task
Dim vendorId As UInt32 = &HBEEF
Dim productId As UInt32 = &HFEED
Dim usagePage As UInt32 = &HFF
Dim usageId As UInt32 = &H1
' Create a selector that gets a HID device using VID/PID and a
' VendorDefined usage
Dim selector As String = HidDevice.GetDeviceSelector(usagePage, usageId, vendorId, productId)
' Enumerate devices using the selector
Dim devices As Windows.Foundation.IAsyncOperation(Of Windows.Devices.Enumeration.DeviceInformationCollection) = DeviceInformation.FindAllAsync(selector)
Dim count As Integer = devices.GetResults.Count
If count > 0 Then
' Open the target HID device
' At this point the device is available to communicate with
' So we can send/receive HID reports from it or
' query it for control descriptions
Dim device As HidDevice = HidDevice.FromIdAsync(devices.GetResults.ElementAt(0).Id, FileAccessMode.ReadWrite)
Await Vendor.ReadWriteToHidDevice(device)
Else
' There were no HID devices that met the selector criteria

End Function
Class Vendor
Public Shared Async Function ReadWriteToHidDevice(device As HidDevice) As Task

' construct a HID output report to send to the device

' Initialize the data buffer and fill it in
Dim buffer As Byte() = New Byte() {10, 20, 30, 40}

How to enumerate audio devices in Windows 7?
Hi!
My Labview application works now in WinXP environment.
It uses audio device enumeration to select the appropriate device on PC.
To do it I use now Automation call to DirectX interface.
This function generates error on PC under Windows7 with message: "unregistered class....".
Of course Win7 doesn't have DX8,
What an alternative does exists in Win7 and what I have to change in my Labview function?
Thanks in advance for an idea.

Hi,
I have a new HP envy 4-1101 ss laptop with windows 8, it came with Truevision HD webcam and it works the first days, suddenly one day it stopped work and now I only have an unknow device in my device manager.
I read several hours forums and help but I didnt find the answer.
I updated all my drivers no solution
I uninstalled all the software, installed it again from hp web page and no solution
I updated youcam and appeared the web cam but again suddenly it disappear again.
I dont know what to do, I need use my cam!!
Thanks for advance!!Hi @LynnFlores ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. Thank you so much for all the steps you have taken to resolve. Very helpful. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-b164tu Sleekbook and issues with the Touchscreen after an update with Windows 8.1. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot this Touchscreen with Windows 8.1.
Please start at the top and work your way down. As they do seem silly but we need to know if something does not finish correctly.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
Listed on the page shows you about a Touchscreen driver that is available. If you go into the Device manager and look under Human Interface Devices. Do you see the driver listed there?
If no, do you see something listed under other devices?
If touch functionality still does not appear to be working correctly, follow the steps listed in the document to calibrate the screen.
I hope something here helps.
Thanks.

How to run an application on windows mobile 6 device ?
Hi everybody,
How can you run an application on a windows mobile 6 device with the new SDK 3.0 ?
Can you launch a MIDLET like any other program ? or running your MIDLET on windows mobile 6 is only for testing while you are developing.
When you finished your MIDLET, can you copy the jar file to the mobile device with windows mobile 6 and to run it anytime ?
Thank you.Its simply a matter of opinion, but I'm 3-months-in, developing for WM5 + WM6 and the only usable solution I've found that has the correct look and feel on Windows Mobile as well as JSR support is IBM's J9.
It's not free, but I searched high and low, and it's the only product that I was happy with.
Here's a [screenshot of it running my application on WM6 emulator|http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9hmP3Ho0t14/S7eDTXfkE9I/AAAAAAAAAa0/ISZ-HohZQDs/s1600/wm6.png] .
Here's a [quick article I wrote for it.|http://fatbuttlarry.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-02-16T11%3A34%3A00-08%3A00&max-results=7] Remember, it's NOT free. Pricing is very fair, but you'll have to license it to use and distribute it.

How to troubleshoot Windows 8 Mail app connectivity issues with Google Business Apps?
My company went to Google Apps last year. I am unable to connect Mail App on Windows 8 to my corporate Google account. I am using m.google.com for server with SSL enabled, but no luck. I also enabled bit locker as my company policy requires device encryption.
Mail App does not give a clear error message. It simple states that this PC does not meet security policies enforced by Google. Please advice. I already made peace when my Nokia Lumia 920 running windows phone 8 does not connect to Google
apps because of a bug that would not turn on device encryption unless requested by Active Sync and it would not turn on with Google sync.
These are annoying issues that Microsoft must fix to gain enterprise support. Here are the settings from my mobile settings page:Answer is of no use. I tried all the forums and websites. I am not able to connect to corporate google apps because it requires SD card encryption. How do I enable this on windows 8.
Please discuss this with your boss and other peers before answering. This is an advanced question. I am going to paint this a little bit more..
Today's enterprise requires that most devices support device encryption and Windows Phone does support device encryption but here is the problem- there is no support for SD card encryption. Even for phones like Lumia 920 that does not have an SD card cannot
connect to Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync due to a bug in the implementation.
When the policy parameter Require Encryption on Storage Card is enabled, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 devices misreport the presence of an SD card, even if the device has no SD card slot. The policy enforcement occurs, provisioning fails, and the device
cannot be synchronized. You can read more on their support site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2464593
This long thread on the Microsoft community is a testament to this problem:
http://answers.microsoft.com/e...3ce3-49e4-8069-ecdccd55a5f9
This is also a problem for those enterprises that are using google apps and running Microsoft exchange activesync. Take a look at this request and policy that will throw the 85010013 error on your windows phone.
Request :

Overall, I hope Microsoft fixes this issue soon -
How to communicate with HID USB device under windows XP with Labview
I have designed a EZ-USB FX2 device and I need to communicate with LabVIEW. I mean I just want to send and receive data. I don’t know how to achieve this goal.Someone have advised me to design a HID device, then use VISA Driver Development Wizards to generate driver(inf file).SO I defined it to a hid device .However when I connect my hid device to the computer, it will automatically be recognized as HID compliance device. I can’t to install the inf file driver. I wondered whether all HID devices will be acquiescently installed the drivers contained in the windows rather than use the inf file driver generated by VISA Driver Development Wizards? If so,what should I do next to communicate with HID USB device under windows XP with Labview? HOPE TO GET HELP!
KIVIHi,
I am working on a project using PIC18F4550 MCU and USB.
I would need to send and receive data from the MCU thru USB. I have uninstaled the HID and created a new NI-VISA driver for my MCU. this worked fine, and it did showed up in MAX
Unfortunately I was not able to receive data from the MCU, Just sending!
I thought to use HID.DLL but the way I need to use the functions inside the HID DLL is simply too much for me, I am not a PC programmer.
There is any kind of VI that is able to use HID.DLL to comunicate with external devices conected to PC thru USB?
Please Help
