iPlanet-specific enhancements to CGI are described in the iPlanet Web Server Programmer's Guide.
REMOTE_ADDR is probably the variable you're interested in.

I have installed -
application server and created an app server domain HR84DEV.
Web server and created a web server domain peoplesoft
As you all know, to start web server we need to make sure that app server has already been started so as the database server moreover hence, I have first started database instance HR84DEV then started app server domain HR84DEV followed by web server domain peoplesoft
App server knows very well which database instance it should connect to since we mention it on app server configuraiton.
But, How web server domain peoplesoft identifys the app server domain HR84DEV to which it is connected since we nowhere mention the name of app server domain while installing PIA but just JSL/HTTP port and host name.

Connection between webserver and appserver is defined in the configuration.properties file to be found in
\webserv\peoplesoft\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL.war\WEB-INF\psftdocs\[site]
file contains the entry

If the webserver cannot connect to your appserver, make sure you can ping the appserver and/or adjust your hosts file to reflect the appserver.

Try Mail>Preferences>Accounts icon>Account Information tab>Click on the Outgoing SMTP server drop down, choose edit Server list, highlight the old one & click Remove.
(Such convolution is worthy of Windows® in my estimation)

Edit the list the comes up when you go to the Window menu and select "Previous Recipients".

Hi everyone,
I had the same problem and found the solution !
I was trying to setup the GUI thanks to sapinstgui.exe from the trial download folder and I got the exact same message,
The problem is not the policies but the installation file.
The installation file for the GUI is located at :
<extract_folder_SAP_trial_version>\GUI\SAP_GUI_FOR_WINDOWS(...)\SAP_GUI_for_windows_(...)_Components.exe

I'm going through a tutorial on how to create an application and run from the command prompt. I have finished installing my jdk 6 Upadate 5 but i don't know how to set the Environment Variable for the javac compiler and the java interpreter to find my program.
I have created an application called "ExampleProgram" and have saved it on drive C:. How do i set the Environment Variable so that the "javac" compiler and the "java" interpreter can find it

I am new admin.
I have created a Virtual Server and I have configured an IP address provided to me by the NW admin.
So now I have to request the NW admin to allow this IP to be remotely connected through remote desktop connection.
If this IP is allowed for the Remote Desktop connection then can I enter the same IP address in the Browser's address bar and access this virtual server on the
Local Network.
If Yes, then I am very happy to know this info.
If no, then please provide me steps to make this IP accessible through the browser's address bar (on the Local Network).
Please provide me necessary info as I have to make this task completed as Instructed by the client.

By enabling RDP, you are enabling remote access to the desktop where you can login and have a Windows Desktop. I have seen in another thread you created that you would like your developer to be able to administer a Website remotely. In this case, that is
something different. If you are using IIS then you need to check your Bindings and make sure that you do have an administration portal that you can access to make changes remotely.

Web server / http requests

Hi,
I am attempting to implement a listener on my server for http requests. Also, messages will be sent though using SOAP.
My question is, can this listener run as a standalone service? or do I need to implement a web server and perhaps create a servlet to respond to anything coming through via http?
I am unsure of the advantages / disadvantages...Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You can write a program that listens at ports for connections.
But the advantage of using a web server and writing servlets, is that a lot of the hard work, the little tedious work with low-level networking stuff, is done for you.
