HP 15-n274sa AMD A10 4655m running at 90c-100c on idle.

Hi there. I am a responsible Laptop owner and I usually install a resource monitor like HW Monitor or Speccy.
I found out that my CPU is running right near the maximum of 90c to 100c on idle. This is a bran new laptop.
This laptop is unfit for purpose since the max temperature a A10 4655m can handle is 100c. I brought it for light gaming to play World of Tanks, Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft on the lowest settings.
I feel that I have been robbed. I will be talking to HP Store technical support as of 1st thing tomorrow.
In the meantime can any HP official or HP customer please tell me what could be a matter with this laptop?
The first thing which pops to my mind is someone forgot to put thermal paste between the chip and motherboard.
Getting sick and tired of the new generation of engineers who think they can stick a little bit of tape between both contact points.

But i don't shure will new cpu working in my notebook? I asked this question in ADM support, they said what both CPU is compatible, but need software support in bios of specific models of notebooks. I can't ask this question in HP support because free support time of my model is ended. Please prompt - BIOS of my notebook will support a new CPU?

All my notebooks have been made HP I always helped the company - buying its products, help you and me now. I'm not asking for much - just a concrete answer - will work or not?
No!! That is where you are wrong. I am not an HP employee.
Very few of us here in the forums are HP Employees. Those that are, with very few exceptions, are here volunteering their own time to help owners of HP products. This is a peer to peer forum where owners of HP products share their time and expertise helping others who need help. We are here to help. We are helping  as volunteers.
There is no concrete answer on this. Sometimes an upgrade to an unsupported CPU will work, but most often it will fail.  Read my previous posts. The risk of whatever currency you use in your country to purchase the new CPU is yours, not mine nor HP's.
Here is a solid answer for you...Use a CPU that is in the list in the Maintenence & Service Guide and your upgrade success chance will go up dramatically.  I cannot say your upgrade success will be guaranteed because there is always the chance that you may break something during assembly/disassembly or be unaware of a critical assembly/disassembly procedure and inadvertently destroy your new CPU.
If you want a high performance CPU and chipset in a laptop then choose well when making a laptop purchase. Laptop/notebooks are actually not meant to be upgraded.

  • Which Video Card will Work out of Box with P7-1240 Desktop with Win 7-64bit & AMD A10-5700 CPU?

    Hi Folks,
I'm new here and have already searched for solutions.  I have P7-1240 Desktop purchased new in June 2012 with Jasmine MSI-MS-7778 motherboard, AMD A10-5700 quad core, 10 MB ram and Windows 7 64-bit.  I'm trying to install a graphics board so my son can play some games that he currently must play on low resolution using the integrated graphics.
I updated my PSU to 600 watt Corsair and tried GTX 750 Ti and GTX-660 cards to no avail (the computer won't boot past HP splash screen).  I've also tried AMD Radeon R7-265 card but couldn't even boot to the HP splash screen.  As I understand, HP offers no BIOS updates for Windows 7 (I read here that one guy loaded a BIOS update for Windows 8 on his Windows 7 machine and it worked, but I am too chicken to try that).
I just want to put this issue to rest.  So my question is simply this:  Does anybody know of ANY graphics card series that will definitely work OUT-OF-THE-BOX in my machine with the stock BIOS and PCI-Exp 16 Gen 2 slot?  I was going to try a GTX 500-series card next.  But I wanted to get some advice first, since I won't be able to return it if it doesn't work.
    Thank you!
    Gary

    Hi,
Graphics card compatibility with the BIOS levels in PCs is not the only factor.  PCI-E slot version compatibility both upwards and downwards would be another factor.  Manufacturers will at times view standards differently and hence design their graphics cards to function differently compared to the same card being made by a different manufacturer.  Manufacturers may also design graphics cards to only work with their motherboards.  Bottom line is that not every graphics card will work in every PC.

Sorry to double-post, but I'm coming around to the idea that it's a UEFI issue. My understanding now is that, if I want to use UEFI, the kernel's EFISTUB needs to be loaded by certain EFI firmware that gives the kernel information about the hardware, which I unfortunately lost when creating my partitions. The only EFI file I have in /boot is "/boot/EFI/gummiboot/gummibootx64.efi". Should this be enough to boot as UEFI? Am I understanding this right? Something else that makes me think I'm missing some essential stuff that was originally installed, is that some items as reported by dmidecode say "To be filled by O.E.M.". Since I've just bought this system pre-built from an OEM, I would have thought that they'd fill that in, and that the EFI firmware is the place to do it.
Also, one thing I forgot to mention above is that I changed the BIOS setting Advanced→Launch PXE OpROM policy from "Legacy" to "UEFI" before booting into the Arch iso. Could this have anything to do with KMS not working (during the installation and until now)? I didn't try booting with "Legacy", but if we could confirm that booting as UEFI is what broke KMS during installation, maybe that could be worth mentioning in the wiki.

  • [Solved] radeonsi: only Software Rendering with AMD A10-7850k APU

    Hi,
I have a new computer with an AMD A10-7850k APU.
I installed Arch Linux as usual and now get only Software Rendering with the open source drivers.
    $ glxinfo | grep vendor
    server glx vendor string: SGI
client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI

    dmesg | grep drm
    http://pastebin.com/qx7Re1fv
I am in the video group and I have no nomodeset in my boot entry.
Is this APU not yet supported for Hardware Rendering with the radeonsi drivers or do I miss anything?
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • G505s: AMD A10 Chipset driver update?

Where can I find the AMD A10 Chipset drivers for win 8.1?

All of the available drivers should be in the driver matrix: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&DocID=DS035837
Regarding the chipset driver you've specified, please see this page: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS038069
This reads as the driver is native to the OS.

I am not sure what I said to make you think that, but it is not correct. You will plug the SSD into the same SATA port currently being used for the original hard drive. It is inside the big service door on the back of the laptop. The SSD drive you want to use will be just fine.
You likely only have a hard drive in one of the two bays and they plug directly into a SATA connector inside the bay. It is hard to see but the SATA connector is to the far left of the bay on the right.

  • AMD GPU fan runs constantly even after disabling DGPU

    I have a HP-Pavilion dv6 6121TX, with AMD 6770m gpu.

    echo OFF > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch
the output for "cat /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch" is as follows
    0:DIS: :Off:0000:01:00.0
    1:IGD:+:Pwr:0000:00:02.0
It shows that the DGPU is off and yet the fan for the same runs continuously at full speed.
Would be really grateful for any suggestions.
    Thank you.

You might also try a different battery if you have access to one. Unfortunately, many of the replacement batteries being shipped by Apple are defective. They don't fit properly into the battery bay. I suspect that if the quality control is this poor, then it seems likely that other problems will arrise as well. Check carefully that the battery itself is not overheating. Another possibility which also happened to me is that after installing the last upgrade to the operating system, one or more of the third party widgets became problematic, causing the same problem you describe. After removing all third party widgets, the problem stopped. Good Luck

  • AMD A10-5750M Can't Wipe The Hard Drive!

I am having a problem downgrading from Windows 8 to windows 7 Ultimate 64bit version. I have tried changing the (EUFI) settings disabling secure boot. I tried Wiping the hard drive didn't work. I recenlty upgraded to windows 8.1 preview because I can deal with that better than windows 8, but I'd prefer windows 7 ulitimate 64bit version. Any help is welcome.

    *****Disclaimer*****
HP doesn't recommend the installation of Windows 7 on a computer shipped with Windows 8, nor will it support the installation of Windows 7. HP will not provide Windows 7 drivers and suitable drivers may not be available for the hardware in the computer. Also, Windows 7 may not support some of the hardware or software features designed for the computer.
Make sure you create your HP Recovery Discs or USB Flash Recovery media before modifying or changing ANYTHING.
    You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and maybe ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "BIOS Secure Boot Configuration Settings (Windows 8)"  on the settings page shown below, before you can attempt to install Windows 7;
    or
Additionally, as the hard drive is partitioned as GPT, you must boot the computer using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or "UEFI - Internal CD/DVD drive" in the "F9" boot menu. If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or something to that effect doesn't exist in the boot menu, please post a screen shot and/or descibe the listed boot options.
I suggest using a Windows 7 SP1 or SP1 U (refresh) disc for the best intallation experience... (Should be no need for loading or slipstreaming SATA drivers with SP1). If you need a Windows SP1, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download and create your own. If the DVD refuses to boot as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (may require DISABLING "Fast Boot" in the BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive.

    Hi @EdTheFlyingMule
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are looking for AMD Wireless Display, on your notebook. PArt of the problem is that generally the versions of video drivers installed on notebooks are customized for the subset of hardware on that notebook.
I could find nothing about that particular application among the HP support documents. I did look at the AMD website, and there was caveat at the bottom of the page.
Not all features may be supported on all components or systems - check with your component or system manufacturer for specific model capabilities and supported technologies.
So my best recommendation would be to make sure you have your firmware and drivers for your notebook up to date, you can use the HP Support Assistant, or you can go direct to the driver page for the notebook.
HP ENVY m6-1105dx Notebook PC Drivers
Once that is up date, then I would check if AMD has the software available to enable this. It is quite possible it will not work, but I have never tried it myself.

HI! well i so happy with my msi MSI MS-65703 K7N2 Delta 2 LSR mobo, its sweet!

this machine is my file server and it gets some insane traffic 35+GB a week.
i have an 1800mhz duron over clocked using dynamic overclocking on the second highest setting.totally stable @1972mhz but pc wizard and a few other appz say my max speed is 2193 anything over 2 ghz i'll be stoked with i have updated to the new bios with no problems. since i dont know durons that well what is the max i can get out of this cpu. i would rather not use dynamic overclocking and set the settings my self, so i would love some advice on this one, like voltage settings, fsb and so on. i have a monster heatsink with 2 120mm fans and 5 case fans. the highest temp ever was 92deg so i'm running way cool. plus i have some decent ram and a good power supply so i would love to get the most i can out of this machine.
    anyways thanks!

Well the informative sticky by Kingfisher roxorz! i got both my comps running great!
my K7N2 Delta 2 LSR & AMD DURON 1800 is running at a bit over 2100mhz and its solid! my cpu temp never goes over 96deg thanks to artic silver 5 and a monster heatsink. the trick is to get your mem timings solid and i also had to move my dimms around to get dual channel that made a huge diff! the new nforce chipset drivers also help.
i got my other sys a K7N2 Delta 2 LSR & AMD ATHLON XP 2200 running great @ around 2230mhz at 99deg with the gigabyte cooler pro heatsink and 3GB of supertalent pc-3200 ddr. UNF!

I have tried uninstalling the devices in device manager and then performing a hard reset. I've attempted to locate the usb 3.0 host controlers for my laptop, but I've had no joy and I've tried running both the Microsoft and HP update facalities to try and force a driver update but so far nothing.
Somebody please help because I'm banging my head against the wall at this point.

    Hi,
I think AMD chips has pins on the CPUs not sockets right?(correct if not). Take CPU out and look for bent pins, as if it fails to work properly in 2 different boards then there is something wrong with it. Use magnifying glass and bright light to see any imperfections.
I concur, if it's doing the same thing on 2 different boards, I would look at the chip as the culprit. I would test my RAM and PSU also.
