Hp 7520 all in one

We bought this printer as it seemed easy  to set up and use.
I am disappointed.
The scanner does not work!
There is a wireless connected. We scanned photos they seemed to work!
Then a a couple of weeks later we tried to scan a document. Error on computer. Unable to scan. error message. Go to IP address?
What does this all mean????
I thought a wireless set up would be easy!
Its going back

  • 7520 All In One not scanning from computer

I have a 7520 all in one printer.  I can scan from the printer to my  computer with no problems, I can print from my computer with no  problems.  I have always been able to control scanning from my computer when I put a picture on the printer without any issues.   The HP Photosmart icon on my desktop is there but I cannot open it.  I've tried opening it from the Start Menu and I still can't open it.  Now I've tried going to the HP Solutions Center and when I click on that it says it cannot run b/c installation is not complete.  (I've had this printer for a almost a year and this just happened out of the blue.)
I uninstalled the printer then reinstalled it again.  I unplugged my printer and my wireless router and retstarted both, all to no avail.  My software is updated and I've run Scan Doctor and everything is in working order.
I simply cannot open HP Photosmart from my computer.

    Hi @FinnGirl47,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan from the computer with your HP Photosmart 7520, and I am happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need to know: If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos, also if the printer is able to make copies.
In the meantime, please try going through this scanning guide, A 'No Computer Detected' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning.

  • HP 7520 All in One "Unable to Communicate with Printer" msg

We have a HP all in one Photosmart 7520 printer- it is USB connected to a mac (OS Snow Leopard I believe).  This was the original set up.  When I moved back here I was able to set up a wireless network with the mac as the host computer (connecting the modem to a Linksys router).  I was able to set up my windows 7 PC to this network and to the printer with no problems and was able to print to the printer for months.  Now I am getting this error "Unable to communicate with Printer"  and says it is unable to to be completed because the printer is unavailable or not connected.
The printer IS connected and on.  My PC can see the printer listed in the control panel (I in fact uninstalled and reinstalled to see if that would fix the problem- it didn't).  The only thing that has changed since I originally set this up was that I added my second PC (Windows XP) to the network but I don't think that's the cause of my print job requests failing to print.
I do know that the modem itself has been reset a couple of times due to the cable deciding to drop out a couple of times.  Could this be the reason why?
What else can I look at to try to get my PC to communicate fully with the printer.  I've tried printing from googlemaps as well as a short notepad file.
    Thanks!

    Let’s try this.
    1. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the
printers IP address in your browser, Settings Tab/Auto Off.  Or use the Printer Assistant, Printer Home
        Page (EWS).
    2. Set a static IP in the printer outside the DHCP range of the router.
    In the router:
    3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
    4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
    5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
    6. For the routers security, disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP so nobody can hack your
system (if you want to know why, search the web).
    7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,
they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
    8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 5 mins.  Power on router wait 3 mins.
    9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.
Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings.
Under Home or Work (current profile) \ Network Discovery.
Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.
    Now try.

  • HP 7520 all in one printer does not print photos well-Does with my Windows machines

I have several computers.  Everything works great with printer in Windows environment.  I have an iPad and a MACbook PRO with Maverick 10.9.4.   The photos are terrible when I print with either of these devices.   It almost looks like a negative image.   I have checked for updated drivers, etc for the MAC.   The ink is HP and the levels are good.  It works fine with my PC computers, but not my Apple devices.   I have checked system preverences in the APPLE.   It appears to be only the photographs.  Text prints fine.  Any suggestions?

Hello cpsimon, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into photo print issues. I would like to help!
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps.
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers.

  • HP 7520 all in one - scan to computer won't work

    Hi there,
I was wondering if someone would be able to help me with a scanning issue. I use my HP 7520 wirelessly, and the printing works fine. I can scan to email and to a USB, but scanning to my computer won't work. It used to work, and stopped one day. I've tried shutting down the printer, computer, and router to re-start.
I also followed all of these directions:
    http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?javax.portlet.begCach...
I have a Mac OSX 10.8 operating system. I tried un-installing and re-installing the software, nothing works. But the printer is connected to my wireless network. The only thing I couldn't do with those instructions is under the "check scan to computer setting" area, number 7. Whwn I open my print que and click on "settings", I don't have a utility tab. So there is no where for me to check the box "scan to computer". Is that the issue? Not sure why I don't see this on my computer. Thanks!

    Hi clh283 and onespeedbiker,
I understand you aren't able to scan from the printer to the computer.
    Thank you for your reply.
I will be happy to help you with this.
If you are missing the Utility tab then you won't have the option to enable the scan to computer.
    What drivers did you install?
I would uninstall the printer. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Follow these steps to repair Disk Permissions.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, then click Utilities.
From the sub menu on the right, double-click Disk Utility .
From the list on the left, select your drive or active partition.
Click the First Aid tab, then click Verify then Repair Disk Permissions .
    Restart your computer.
Then download and run the installation.

This information is for onespeedbiker since you are using Win XP.
I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor since it might resolve the issue automatically.

  • HP photosmart 7520 all in one

Purchased new HP 7520 printer and am using an iMac with OS x Maverick system. When attempting to print from the iMac, the printer selects the main tray instead of the photo tray. Photo tray is selected as default in settings on the iMac, as well as on the printer. I've attempted to print from the iPhoto app as well as the Lightroom app. Neither works.
The photo tray WILL select when printing from my iPhone, however. Is there a driver error or something that needs corrected? I see that this seems to be an ongoing problem from viewing the forums. I hope there is a solution. Otherwise it gets returned tomorrow. Please help.

Welcome to the HP Forums ADowns,
I read your post which indicates that you are unable to print to the photo tray on Maverick. But the Iphone prints to the photo tray fine. I can help you with this.
Are you using the Full Feature download drivers from HP?
HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers - OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. The Airprint driver might be installed instead of the Printer's driver. (usually defaults to Airprint)
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen should show the name.
If the printer name shows Airprint then that is the Apple drivers, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
If you are still having issue then please try the following steps:
Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart the computer.
    Reset the Printing System:
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Click the Apple icon ( ), and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then click the + sign, then select the printer from the list and click on the Add button.
(make sure it shows the printer name beside Use, not the Airprint driver)
Try printing again from the photo tray again.
If you need further assistance, let me know.
    Have a wonderful day!

  • Setting up scanning on my HP 7520 all in one

Watched the video on setting up my scanning function but when I click on the printer icon in my control panel I do not see "Scanner Action"  I only see printer action??  Please help.  What am I doing wrong.  Can't locate my printer software disc.

    apucciarello,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
You may need to (re)install the Printer Full Feature Software for your Printer onto your computer.
After you install the Software, Double-click the Printer Assistant shorcut on the Desktop to find a Scan feature function (left side).
General Instructions to Install the Printer Software
    Reminder:
    1.    In most cases, the Solution Center has been replaced by the Printer Assistant.
    2.    The Printer Assistant shortcut will be installed on your Desktop during the last part of the installation.
    ·         Create a Restore Point:   Create a Restore Point – Win7  OR  Create a restore point Win8
    ·         Open  HP Drivers & Downloads
    ·         Enter your Printer Model information
    ·         Select your Printer from the “Results” list
    OR
    ·         Open HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers
    ·         Enter your Operating System in the Drop-down menu
    ·         Click NEXT and Scroll down
    ·         Look for category Driver - Product Installation Software
    ·         Select the Basic Driver, e-print, or Full Feature Software
    ·         Save the *.exe installation package(s) on your computer
The file(s) will likely save to the "Downloads “folder.
Be sure to look for Updates as needed for your installation.  If available, you may download the Print and Scan Doctor and / or other programs from Category – Utilities.
    ·         If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package and “double-click” to install it, else Right-Click, Select run as Administrator and install.
    NOTES:
    ·         Look at the bottom half of the main webpage for your printer for helpful videos to assist with the installation of the printer software!
    ·         Scroll the video list back and forth until you find the video that most closely matches your situation.
    ·         USB connection:  Download and install the driver software before connecting a USB cable.
    ·         Ethernet:  Connect the printer to the network and (Optional) assign the printer an IP address at the router.  Once the printer is connected to the network, be sure the printer is switched on and then install the printer software.
    ·         After the initial installation is complete and working, check / install Category  - Update
There is valuable information at the printer’s website, including manuals, how-to pages, a Troubleshooting and SOLUTIONS section, and alerts and notifications for your printer.  Be sure to take an extended look at what is available.  Bookmark the page.
Remember:  After you install the Printer Software, use the Printer Assistant shortcut on your Desktop or use your Favorite browser and the printer's IP address to access the printer through the EWS.  You can set / change your wireless, assign a static IP address (network tab), check your printer's stats and more.  Excellent!

  • Installing HP Photosmart 7520 all in one printer software

My new HP Photosmart 7520 will not install on my Dell PC.  I have the 32-bit Windows Vista OS.  When installation begins I immediately get the error message: "Key not valid for use in specified state".  I've tried installing the CD and the software from HP on-line, all several different ways.  I 've used the troubleshooting download from HP but both methods do not solve the installation problem.  I've temporarily disabled the firewall.  I've done disk clean-up and defragmenting.  I've restarted the PC more than a dozen times during my efforts.  Even Microsoft Windows can't install all the software from updates - only the fax portion.  If I can get past the point where the error message occurs I think the software will install.
I hesitate to try the Geek Squad.  My experience with them is that most of the geeks aren't competent and it's a crap shoot getting assigned one that is.  They will be my last resort.
Has anyone had this problem?  Does anyone have a solution?

    Hey @jimlg ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to install the printer drivers for your Photosmart 7520 printer.
The error you have listed is a Windows error and not attributed to the printer software. You can confirm this with the fact the error occurs when trying to install from Windows update bypassing our installer.
You may want to try following the suggestion in this thread made by @Gemini02 which seems to help resolve the issue for some users experiencing the same problem: Re: key not valid for use in specified state.

  • HP photo smart 7520 all in one printer error. B8867448.

Screen flashing. Message "printer error. There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer off, then on". When it is turned off, then on, the blue Hewlett Packard screen flashes with B8867448, then it returns to error message.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

June 18, 2014:  My HP7520 Photosmart isn't so smart.  Error B8867448 shows up in blue screen and then an error screen shows up:  Printer Error.  There is a problem with the printer.  Turn the printer off, then on.
I called HP service and went all the way up through a supervisor to the "higher authorities" in India.  I am a valued HP customer so they are giving me a very very special offer.  We unplug it for a minute and get the same problem.  The cartriges are also stuck and won't move.  They say this is the source of the hardware problem.  Then he states it is a "hardware" problem.  Really.
After several conversations with the "supervisor" he gets my phone number and calls me back from his "personal office desk" with a very very valuable offer that is not available to all customers.
They can only offer a discount on the printer, which is similar to Amazon.  I bought it for $138.85 (tax included - it was $129.99 before tax) over a year ago at Best Buy so the warantee is out of date.  He offers an HP Photosmart 7520 for $149.99.....?? - after I mentioned my original purchase price, he dropped it to $127.91.  I save a dollar.
    But get this!!!!
    Cartridges are for free.
    Free shipping and handling.
    3-warantee for free.
Still, my old computer has to go in the trash - stuck cartridges and all.
The new printer will be tested TWICE by HP "itself"!  Now that's confidence for me!  I why the double testing??
    Reason:
It is a reconditioned printer, by the way.  I don't like that and patiently mentioned it was not a sufficient offer:  $1 discount from a new printer.
Now they are offering $10 off the reconditioned printer.  I state that this is still not sufficient.
The phone rep tells me 100 printers are sold to Best Buy and 80 are delivered (what does that mean?!)
Just because the box is opened due to a long shelf-storage doesn't mean it is a bad computer.  They test it again since it's old so now it's tested twice and will work for me perfectly.  They are 100% sure the printer will work for me and this problem will not happen again.
If the problem DOES happen, they will provide free shipping and a free replacement.  (wha-huh??  did I miss something there???)
He says I can go to website:  www.hp.com/recycle.com - log onto this website and I can recycle the printer without throwing it in the trash!!!   Such a deal!  I don't feel any better.  Trash is trash as far as I'm concerned.
I replied:  "Your offer is not satisfactory to me" and once again I'm on hold.  Hold time to this point is over an hour.  Sigh.
I'm finding that replying "Thank you but your offer is not satisfactory to me." in a calm voice gets me a little teeny weenie bit further in price reduction, but not worth the bother.
He talks to his supervisor and says they know I'm not happy.  So now I get it for $86.10, with free shipping, cartridges and a 3-year warantee for free.
How do I return it?   I call them and they send me a label.  I have to save the box and repack it.  I can also return the printer after 14 days.  What if I can't repack it properly with all the parts, etc????  He says to stick it in the box and mail it.  That's easy I guess......
This is just as good as a new one, even though it is reconditioned.  This is the best offer they can give me.
"Would you like to go for it?".   It is not refurbished, it is reconditioned.  The difference is there are no cosmetic defects with a reconditioned printer.
I insist on a free replacement.  He goes off to talk to his supervisor once again.  Silly, eh?  I stay calm and patient and it might work!  I mention I love HP and have always bought HP products.  They are documenting everything, he says.  Then I wait again.  He has my number and I'll get a phonecall back from his higher authorities within 24 hours.
I confirm - he's in India.  Yay.  He if there's anything else he can do for me.  I reply that would simply like my printer replaced.   He wishes me a "beautiful day" and says "bye bye" and hangs up.
Incredible.  I'm throwing it away and buying an Epson -810 or a Canon Pixma - consumer reports recommended printer.  I hear the trash truck so I'm taking my printer out to the trash (in a nice new trash bag).  I won't buy another HP printer again - ever.
Hope this helps.  Sorry if you have the same issue.  Final time of calls with Indians:  2 hours.  OMG.  **bleep**.  I give up.

  • HP Photosmart 7520 all in one showing Air Print Macbook Pro Maverick 10.9.4

    Good morning, happy Friday @ladybugs48
    I understand you are seeing AirPrint next to your printer, meaning you are currently using the AirPrint driver and not the HP driver. I can help you change this. Please complete the steps below;
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    When you add the printer, to ensure you are using the HP driver, not the AirPrint driver use the steps below;
Select Add Other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can select the printer driver

  • 7520 All in one web services not working

I got notified of a new update for the 7520. When I tried to install it, the screen said it was successful but then said "updating....do not turn power off" and it freezes and the update never gets successfully installed and I have no web services. I tried reiinstalling the whole software package, restarted the printer multiple times and the router too and can't seem to find an answer.  Anyone know what to do next?

    bjg1,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
Assuming you can get to the point where you can get the software installed, you might be able to get Web Services back using the following workaround.
    Suggested Workaround:
On the printer, Disable the web services -- that is, remove web services from the printer.
This may then allow you to then "Enable Web Services".
There is a consequence to this action:  Your previously selected ePrint custom address will no longer be valid and cannot be reused.  When you go back and log into your HP Connected account you may need to not only "add device" to re-add the printer to the device list of ePrint printers, you will have to select a new custom email address for that printer.
Where / how is this done?
Side Bar: The Disable Web services is usually done on the printer, although if the service is actually working, one can switch off EWS from EWS.
Disable EWS on the printer, wait a few seconds, and then Enable the service again.
Switching off EWS does not "break" your HP Connected account, although it does put a crimp in your printer's ePrint setup.  You can still log into the HP Connected account where the printer and the ePrint account is managed.    After EWS is disabled / enabled, you must log into your HP Connected account.
If you do not find your printer listed under the Devices tab, you can usually "add device" and add your printer right back into the list at this point.
If you do find your printer, but it won't cooperate, it won't update, you cannot "do" anything with it, go ahead and remove it.
If you have to "remove the printer", then Log out of  HP Connected.
If you have to "remove the printer", then Walk around your house / office / back yard -- come back.
Log into HP Connected and use "Add device" to add your printer.
Update the ePrint email address to something new - add a number, think of something new and clever; it does not matter as long as the name is different.

  • Problem printing from iPhone 5 with ePrint 7520 all in one

While this may have been addressed before....I cannot complete a print job from my iPhone 5 or iPad through the ePrint app using the 7520.  The 7520 is brand new. All wireless connections are complete, the ePrint address is correct and does show in the ePrint app. All devices concerned are connected to the same wireless device/band (and using the lower band on a dual router). ePrint is enabled on the printer, and I have tried with the wireless direct enabled and disabled.
I repeatedly recieve the error message
Oops! We could not complete the job. Please try again.
     Any suggestions??
    Thanks

    Hi there,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue. I would recommend trying the solutions in the following support document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02974785&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5199463&tmp...

  • HP Photosmart 7520 All in one Error report

After installing a brand new HP 564 black ink cartrigde, every attempt to print something since installing it, I keep getting a Printer failure report on the printer screen : There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persist, contact HP. Then the report on my compuetr under HP Photosmart 7520  series (Network) reads: (next to red circle w/white x )   Missing or Failed Printhead
                                               Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black/PhotoBlack
The printethead appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible
I tried turning it off and on several times. Took cartridge out and put it back in. Searched cartridge well to see if there was anything blocking it. tried troubleshooting it through the Printer itself and from the HP help. tried contacting them but the number given is for a free Carribean cruise..So not very professional. Like I said , after installing a brand new HP 564 black ink cartridge, this started. i didn't get a chance to print anything.  Can I get help with this please?

    Hello Dumbazz77,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer giving the error " The print-head appears to be missing, not detected, incorrectly installed, or incompatible".
I do have a few suggestions that we can try in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with 'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' 'Ink System Failure,' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error M...".
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.
    Cheers,
