HP Device Monitor... pop up

Hello,
Can anybody please inform me how to get rid off the pop up "HP Device Monitor is closed...."
Thanks

Hi, I think it's likely a hidden file running...
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed. Or an errant process eating up RAM.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Hi there, can anyone tell me how to make make Garageband ignore HDMI as an audio output-device on a 2013 Mac Mini? Now it keeps on prompting me: Do you want want to use the HDMI device (monitor without audio) for audio output? Thanks in advance, Grtz T.

    Hi there,
Can anyone tell me how to make make Garageband ignore HDMI as an audio output-device on a 2013 Mac mini i7 using an Apogee jam as an input for bass and a Behringer USB DAC with RCA audio output? Now it keeps on prompting me: Do you want want to use the HDMI device (monitor without audio) for audio output? I'm also suffering massive audio lag issues with the Apogee jam after waking the mini from sleepmode, wich pretty much renders it useless.
    Thanks in advance,
    Grtz T.

I think the easiest way to do this is to have the EyeTV app running in one user account and sent via HDMI to the TV, and use a separate user account for Screen Sharing. Both logins can be active at the same time and with Lion you can connect via screen sharing to which ever login you need.
With regards to the Mac video resolution changing, when it is not the current input on your AV receiver. This is 'normal', if the Mac sees no signal it drops down the a lower level. What you need is to buy a HDMI Detective Plus which tricks the Mac in to always seeing a signal and hence it will not drop down the resolution. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8005
The Mac mini does have an IR receiver. This can be used with the EyeTV app, iTunes, and similar. Yes I believe EyeTV would run for prolonged periods quite happily, it is has been around for a long time and had most of the rough edges polished off. However one issue you will have to deal with is that it does not automatically update its program guide data. For this you might have to write or modify an AppleScript. Elgato support or their user forums will be a lot of help.
You can set EyeTV to convert recordings to an iTunes (Apple TV) compatible format and then delete them from EyeTV.
The HDMI Detective should solve your handshaking problems.

  • HP Device Monitor

    I'm using a model 10,1 iMac with 8GB of ram, running Mavericks 10.9.5.  I have a Photosmart 8450 (5 or 6 years old) and a Photosmart 7525 (1 year old).
Anout two weeks ago HP Device Monitor took over my iMac, with the result that it's very slow (strangely, it's seems to be even slower when I go to HP Support forums).  The fixes I've read about here in the forums have not worked for me.  What can I do to have my iMac be normal again?

  • Change monitor pop-up menu to "On with feedback protection"

I bought a GarageBand book, Apple Training Series: GarageBand '09, to guide me through the learning curve with GarageBand. In the book it says to "Change monitor pop-up menu to "On with feedback protection"" but my GarageBand does not have this option. I have the latest version, but only three options and none of them are "On with feedback protection". The only "ON" choice I have does not give feedback protection as an option. "There is an OFF with no feedback Protection"
Is it hidden somewhere else? Please advise.

You are not getting my question.
    he understood your question.
I am asking for an "ON with feedback protection" This is what I want.
you can't always get what you want. this option has changed names in the latest version of GB
    it's now simply "on"

  • LMS CiscoWorks 3.2 CPU 100 % on devices monitored

    HI,
it's possible that LMS CiscoWorks influenced devices performance? On devices monitored from CiscoWorks CPU reached peaks of 100% of utilization.
If i stop Ciscoworks they work normally.
    Thanks

Yes, it is possible.  Device bugs can exist that cause high CPU when certain MIB objects are polled.  There may also be other factors that can lead to high CPU when a device is polled with SNMP.  For example, routers will large ARP caches may see CPU spikes when User Tracking polls the devices during acquisition.  In these cases, SNMP views can be applied to restrict those MIB branches from being polled.
To determine what MIB objects are leading to CPU spikes, the output of "show stack PID" is required when the CPU is spiking (where PID is the process ID of the SNMP ENGINE and IP SNMP processes).  In addition to this, the show version and show region output are required.

  • Fortigate Device Monitoring with SNMP

    HI
I have SCOM 2012 R2 in my environment. I want to do network device monitoring for Fortigate routers\firewalls. I have configured all firewall ports between my management server and fortigate device. I have created SNMP v1,v2 run as account and have added
community string in network device as well. When i create the rule and run it, my fortigate device appears in the Network Device Pending management. On alerts pane i can see that the rule discovery is failing. The error log says there might be problem in credentials
or firewall settings. But i have configured all of them properly. Please help

  • What is NI Device Monitor?

I cannot find any documentation on the NI Device Monitor that sits in the system tray.  I don't need it (?) so I want to get rid of it.  But how do I restart it if I do need it?  I cannot find a shortcut installed in the menu and no reference to it in any of the settings.  A search of NI website doesn't even come up with a hit.

From what I understand, the NI Device Monitor is a service that will launch certain NI Software if an NI USB device (like a USB DAQ device) is plugged in.  I'm no expert on this stuff, but in the past, when there's been a service running on my machine, I go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and change the service from Automatic to Disabled.  If I need the service in the future (like in your case, if you ever buy an NI USB DAQ device), change the service back to Automatic.

  • Device Monitor - Black except for Storage tab

    Hi,
My Device Monitor  (from Quick Settings) is completely blank except for the Storage tab. That means Battery, CPU, and Memory are all not loading properly.
    Any suggestions?
    Merci!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Good luck!

  • The application HP device monitor quit unexpectedly window keeps popping up

    Help
I installed driver from HP for my version 10.5.8 and I now get the above message popping up every 5 seconds and I cannot get the printer to work. How can I remove this message and get printer to work wirelessly? I have removed all the files (HP) I can find and restarted comupter but message keeps coming up.
    I am very frustrated.

This can depend on whether your iMac running Leopard 10.5.8 is an older PPC (G4 or G5) iMac or a post-2006 Intel based iMac.
They would need different printer drivers - check with HP that you have the right one.

  • Apple Mail, multiple devices with POP

    Cheers folks.
I admit, I'm not much of a Mac user, so please bear with me on what might be a "silly" question. I've been browsing and Googling this issue and have yet to find a reasonable answer.
Someone I know was having issues with her email. She has three devices; iPad, iPhone and MacBook Pro. Her email is via POP. All three had been working just fine until she returned from a short vacation, when her email was _retrieving_ just fine with the iPad and iPhone, but not her MacBook. She could send emails via the MacBook without any problems, and I found the option to check connection in Apple Mail (connection doctor, I believe it's called?) which showed all authentication was going through just fine, so I could rule out bad password (she'd changed her iTunes password while on vaca). But no matter what we did, she couldn't receive emails on the MacBook. Oh, and of course I verified that she had the correct mail server info and credentials, which were all set as she hadn't touched the device quite a few days.
I verified that her Apple Mail was set to leave messages on the server for 30 days, and checked her POP settings on the iPhone and iPad (info from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3228) to ensure they were doing the same. All were. Then, on a whim, I powered down her iPad and iPhone. That did the trick. A week's worth of emails just leapt into her inbox.
Now, this has me curious. While I don't often support users who use Macs or iDevices, it has tweaked my interest on what might be the cause. Has anyone else run into this, or is there a readme on the subject? I'm sure someone will ask me for assistance with these things as more and more friends and family are iPhone and iPad users.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • USB devices not "popping up" onto desktop

Help! When connecting USB devices to my Mac Book Pro they device does not "pop-up" onto the desktop. It is present in the System Profiler, but I am unable to use the devices - ie. I cannot use my external hard drive for Time Machine? Any suggestions. Thanks heaps.

    Try this:
Close all active applications you've launched. When you see the word "Finder" at the left end of the menu bar next to the Apple icon. click it to get this:
Highlight "Preferences..." as shown. When Finder Preferences, open see if any of the check boxes in the upper part of the "General" tab are unchecked:
That example is from Tiger OS 10.4.11. In Snow Leopard, there is an additional checkbox "External drives." Check all the boxes and see if the USB devices show up.
