Hp dv5-1002nr notebook hdd smart monitoring issues HELP!!!

Hello. Im working on a HP DV5-1002NR notebook and Im getting a "hard drive is at risk of imminent failure...." message at boot. It gives error 0301.
I have done the full hd test and results are normal. I have also taken the hard drive out and installed it in my computer and done disk checking via 3 other reliable softwares. I have also run SPINRITE on this drive with FULL scan (8hrs) and all have come back with ZERO problems.
The laptop functions fine, and has full performance. I have reinstalled vista via the recovery partiton on the drive and still get this error. Short of completely formatting the hard drive, what else can I do to stop SMART MONITORING from reporting errors.
I am 101% sure the hard drive is not at fault.
The bios has no disablement for SMART.

Hi,
I have a DV5-1002NR and it won't boot up. There are no noises except from the DVD drive and the caps and num lock lights blink. I have tried hard power down, removing the battery, and swapping the memory chips around but nothing changes. A local repair guy I spoke siad he thought it was a commoni issue and that HP had extended the warranty. Anybody know if that's so or what the problem might be?

What version of Windows is installed on your notebook? Depending on your version, you may be able to solve the problem with a Startup Repair Disk.

Dv5 1002nr blank screen n beep code of series of 3 beeps

Hi...I have this dv5 1002nr laptop..upon boot it gives a blank screen and a series of 3 beeps three times..the beep codes I found say its the memory..I tried that to no avail..what would the next step to try..any ideas?

I see you laptop is unable to boot and you're getting a beep code of 3 beeps when turning the device on.
You were right in your assessment of this sequence being indicative of a memory problem. However, you say you've attempted some sort of troubleshooting to no avail. What steps did you take to try to solve the issue with the memory?
Did you remove all DIMM modules from the motherboard and replace them one at a time, attempting a boot on each single installation?
If you have not, try this and see how this affects your boot success.
While you're removing the dimm cards, conduct a visual examination of the cards and the seating to make sure there are no cracks, build-up(black substance on the contact surface), or dust. The contacts should be a dull golden color devoid of any dark marks or irregularities.
If reseating your dimms do not solve the issue, you may be required to purchase new memory for your system.
Are you aware of your device's warranty status?

DV5-1117el & Windows 7 - System audio issue

Hi,I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit and installed HP Audio drivers "Driver CODEC audio ad alta definizione IDT". Sound function but I am very unhappy with system sound level: I can barely hear it while instead I can hear sound being reproduced by videos. What is wrong? Is there a separate system sound level to adjust?

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv5-1117el Notebook and issues with the Audio Software. I would uninstall both that you have listed. Restart the Notebook. Here is a link to the Audio driver for Windows 7 and your system. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that might need updating. Please note remove any and all USB and HDMI devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. I hope something here helps. Thanks.

Trouble with color on Presario, No red tones on display. Not a monitor issue.

Am experiencing trouble with color on Presario, model no. CQ5500F. Purchased a couple of years ago, and trouble was present immediately. Am getting no red tones - red items appear black or sometimes blue. Was told by HP that it was a monitor issue, and let computer slide out of warranty. installed new monitor today and problem still exists. Is this merely a display adjustment of some kind? Or will I have to pay HP their $99 for a one time fix? Any suggestions appreciated.

It could be the display driver that is not properly working
1. Click on the start icon
2. Right click on computer and go to properties
3. Select Device Manager
4. Expand display adapters and right click on the video card driver and uninstall
The computer screen will go blank
On the keyboard press the windows key the right arrow key twice and then the letter R.
At this point your computer is going to reboot. After the reboot Windows will install generic drivers for your video card. Do you still see a lack of red tones?

I use my Galaxy Note 2 as a monitor when shooting with my 60D. The phone has a program I uploaded called DSLR Controller. This program allows me to use my phone not only as a monitor, but a remote control as well. I do some real estate photography where I elevate my camera on a 20 foot pole and can see and fire the camera using my Note 2.
I also have the software that came with the camera to use a laptop for the same functions, but I find the Note 2 is not as bulky when taking a shot and moving to another location and shooting again.
So LOTS of options are available!

Multiple Monitor Issue

Alright, so I have a 15" Macbook Pro with the dual graphics cards (GeForce 9600M GT and GeForce 9400M GT 256 version). It's the 2.66 intel processor one. Anyway, I've been trying to figure out this dual monitor issue that I've been having for a few days now. When I'm using the 9400M card and I plug into my mini displayport everything works just fine. This includes the VGA cord, the HDMI, as well as a standard Apple monitor. Now, when I switch over to the higher end graphics card, as soon as I plug into the mini displayport my screen goes black. And that's it. I can't do anything. I have to hold the power button down until the computer turns off.
I've been searching for days in order to find an answer to this question or if anyone has ever had a similar problem and no one could help me. I even went to the genius bar and no one could help either. Keep in mind I've tried this in a variety of ways. I've plugged the monitor in after the computer was running, I've had it plugged in while the computer was turning on, and each time after the initial boot up everything goes black.
To make matters worse, I originally came across this issue because I use Windows 7 on bootcamp and I wanted to use dual monitors within Windows. Bootcamp is only set to use the 9600M graphics card which is the one giving me all the heartache and apparently there's no way around it. If anyone has the slightest clue as to what's going on here or why it would be doing such a thing, let me know. Thanks.

Jon: Thanks for answering those questions. Run the Apple Hardware Test that you'll find on one of the DVDs that came with your MBP. If any errors are reported, go back to the Genius Bar with the error codes reported by AHT and ask to have the machine repaired.
If you have extended AppleCare protection, you have a TechTool Deluxe CD/DVD. You can also use that to test your hardware. If it reports any errors, take the exact wording and error codes from that report along with you to the GB, too.
The problem is not with your three external displays or your cables, adapters, or your MBP's mini-Displayport, because they all work fine with the 9400M. The problem isn't some wrong contact that's being made momentarily as you insert the mini-Displayport plug into the port, because it occurs even when the cable is securely connected before starting up the computer. It seems to me the problem must reside either in your 9600M GT or in its connection to the mini-displayport.

Hello, i have a MacPro 2.66 w/ an ATI x1900 and a MacBookPro with th nVidia 8600
i recently purchased a 28" Hanns-g Display which i upgraded from my 20" apple cinema display, im curious if this could be a graphic issue or a monitor issue:
When i connect the 28" monitor to my ATI card (port 1) and boot into 10.4.10 (macPro) i noticed diagonal lines that seem to "scroll" (like an overscan line or something) on greyish and lighter backgrounds.
tried it with the second port, same thing, it does it on all resolutions
(it runs @ 1920x1200).
when i boot into XP and try the same sites i did in 10.4.10 it doesnt do it at all, its as it should.
I tried both VGA>DVI and HDMI>DVI to the ATI on OSX but it only does it with the HDMI>DVI connection under OSX, VGA looks fine.
(btw my ati card is clean as a whistle, no dust or anything)
However if i plug it into my MacBookPRo with hdmi>DVI it doesnt do that at all.
so im wondering probably incompatible monitor or what?
im looking to getting a 30" Apple Display but not if its gonna act up like that on my macpro, none of this appeared on my ACD 20".
any suggestions or tips?

im not experiencing scan line son my 30" ACD display under OSX or XP with my ATI, could be the monitor you are using, but if its not doing it with your MBP than.....idk
sonds strange, try another gfx card or another macpro if possible.

I've been using arch for a while but I still lack PLENTY of knowledge and linux feels like a stranger to me. (btw: now I'm writing from my wind, which has never troubled me with arch). My PC is driving me crazy. Randomly stops booting on "The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem" (I've got ext3, so it's a bit weird?) but when I reboot everything comes back to normal. It's a fresh install (64bit finally) done from cd and arch complained about /dev/sr0 reading problems, but finally installed itself. I've always did it from usb stick. Can this have something to do with bad superblock or w/e?
What's more I've got some trouble with my screen which has jumping pixels. When I've unplugged stuff from usb ports and plugged it back it seemed to help, tried changing monitor cable, helped for a while, now I switched to built in vga card and no trouble yet. What would you do? Cause I'm not sure if it's not because of mainboard, which has problems with usb ports, graphic card or screen itself.

But what is the command? mkinitcpio -p kernel26 ? Also how do I fix this grub issue? I'm assuming grub created a default menu.lst after I copied the config files and setup the hd0 but I actually don't recall checking that.
Just re-did all steps including rebuilding the kernel, I still can't get the boot menu when I reboot. It goes directly to grub console.
I checked the generated menu.lst, it lists my root as the device where /boot partition is and the kernel line root enrty is defined for the arch system I want to boot :\

Playing off the Timeline via firewire( XdCam pal) Monitoring Issues

I have just switched to FCP and have found that when recording the from the FCP timeline manually via firewire into a Sony XDCam PDW530 I experience 4:3 flashes in the Camera monitor and viewfinder as the timeline plays down Video Transitions. All effects have been rendered (Blue line above transition)
However the Camera appears to record correctly to disc. I played the recorded material from the camera via an XD deck into a wide screen monitor and all appears fine the 4:3 flashes are not present on transitions. play the disc back in the camera and the 4:3 flashes for the duration of the Video Transitions return????
when playing out of the Camera via SDI and Analogue Composite outputs into a wide screen monitor all appears ok as well.
It's a little odd that you cannot monitor the output correctly on the XDcam. If i change the pull down settings from 2323 to 2332 it monitors the transitions correctly but the video aspect is somewhere between 4:3 and 16:9.
Shoot in 16:9 Capture DV Pal, Edit DV Pal, Playback Output Apple FireWire Pal (720 x 576)
Any ideas????

We have been down the PRINT TO VIDEO road with the same playback issues in the XD Camera's LCD screen. We still see the 4:3 transition on the 16:9 image when playing off the timeline / playing back the recorded media in the camera and viewing on cameras screen .
I guess this is only a monitor issue. If you don't include any video effects it plays down 16:9 perfectly in the cameras monitor
What is recorded onto the disc is fine.
Also my understanding is the what's coming off the timeline is a DV stream so not sure how the GOP format comes into play. Recording onto a XD Cam off the timeline thru other edit programmes has never been an issue. I have come from Avid Pinnacle and the monitoring of transitions was never an issue when streaming back to the xdcam.

With the app closed, drag it to the trash or right clcok on it and select Options>Remove fro dock
Also go to System Preferences.Users and Groups>your user>Login Items and delete it as a log in item if it is listed.

You're probably running into the servers simply being swamped. Thousands of people are all going for the software update at the same time. Give it a try again and if that doesn't work, then try plugging it into your computer and trying it that way.
I didn't get a notion of the size, it doesn't seem to be as big as the 700 meg 5.0 update, but it did take me 20+ minutes to download via cable internet so it's a large file. That in and of itself takes a while.
If you're trying to download it directly to your iPhone, you'll need to be on wifi since I'm sure it's well over the 20 meg file size limit for 3G.

are you saying that when you connect your MacBook Pro to a monitor, your Internet connection slows down, but when you disconnect the monitor, it speeds up again, and that this is reproducible from one day to another?
Does this happen both under OS X and under Windows 7, or only under one of them?
How are you currently connecting your MacBook Pro to your monitor?
