HP Envy Failure ID...Help?

Hello,Last week my wife received her Envy computer back from HP with a replaced hard drive. The computer is still giving her problems and she called tech support today. Support had her run diagnostics and the Failure ID was GXXTPO-7457N2-MFGH6J-619003.The hard drive is still under warranty, but the rep she spoke with on the phone indicated this Failure ID is a software problem and not under warranty. Has anyone seen or does anyone know what this Failure ID specifically represents? I'm looking for more information into what type of software problem this is. Frustrated that we just received her computer back with a replaced hard drive, and now we have a software problem that HP is suggesting is not under warranty. I tried the HP diagnostic failure ID decoder website from an earlier forum post, but it did not show up. Could be that the "O"s should be "D"s, but I tried all combinations and still couldn't find it.http://h20364.www2.hp.com/WTYWeb/Home.aspx Thank you for any help.

Were they re-certified by HP or some other company?

    Hi all,
I am in desperate need of help - I am running OS X 10.9.1 and have downloaded Mavericks update to support the printer.  However, during the Utility Setup, the printer can not be located by the tool.  I have also tried to manually type in the IP address and that does not work either.

  • WRT54GL V1.1 Firmware Failure - Need Help To Try Recovery

Hello: I need assistance with my WRT54GL V1.1.
I was attempting to upgrade my firmware from 4.30.13 to 4.30.14 USA English version. The upgrade was nearly complete when the dreaded Upgrade Failed message appeared.  I have searched multiple Linksys Forums trying to recover my router. I tried the 30 second "reset" procedure with the router still powered on. When that did not help I tried another reset procedure I found on the internet called the 30 30 30. After following the "reset" instructions a couple times I have now gone from only the "fast power light blinking" failure to the following: Fast power light blinking AND all the Ethernet Port lights are turned on solid and the Internet light is also turned on solid.  At this point I am clueless which steps to even attempt.  I did connect an ethernet cable directly to Port 1 and tried to ping 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.5.1 which was the router's IP address before the firmware upgrade failed.  I get no response from either ping.  If anyone can help me save my just out of warranty (of course) router it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, have tried most if not all of the blinking power light solutions I could find on the internet. Have tried to ping the router from two different PCs with statiic IP assignments.
What I could not find anywhere on the various forums were my symptoms, which is Blinking Power Light plus the additional lights that are on solid.  I was hoping someone else has seen the problem I have and had some other solution.
With mine I have either Blinking Power & all (4) Port lights & Internet light on solid.  Then if I do a power off/on cycle I will have Blinking Power, Ports 1 & 4 and Internet lights on solid.
Again, was praying that someone would recognize the different lights as perhaps a coded error message with some recovery procedure.  I guess not and mine is a brick.
I did notice that a couple forums mentioned that the .BIN file download on these routers has to be LESS than 3mb or the router would be bricked.  The most current .BIN on the Cisco/Linksys page that I downloaded was MORE than 3mb.
I would think though that many many more owners of the WRT54GL V1.1 router would have complained to Cisco that the latest firware on this site is blowing up routers!

  • Update 10.7.4 has triggered MBP catastrophic failure.. help!

    Please Help!
    2009 Macbook Pro 15.4" 4gb RAM (Unibody)
    HD 500.11 GB FUJITUS MJA2...
I tried to install an update for 10.7.4 via the combo package. The update says it failed so I tried to install it again- every time I got to finalizing/moving things around stage of the update it would say that it failed. I believe it may have succeeded, at least partially. I went to restart my machine and now I am stuck at the Apple logo Grey screen. I have tried the following:
Shift for safemode: it got me through to user login once, but then I hit  restart and reset the PRAM and after that no  more safe mode success.
Safemode now fills up the progress bar to a certain point and then the bar just dissapears and I'm left with the spinning gear of infinity.
Verbose mode/single user mode: got me to a screen white text ending in:
"mac framework successfully initialized using 16384 buffer headers and 10240 cluster I0 buffer headers"
    There is no input allowed.
Target mode successfully gives me the target symbol, but I have not tried to access it as a drive.
I have managed to boot into CMD-R recovery mode and tried to repair my disk. Unfortunately it reads in red 'Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk....disk, and restore your backed-up files.' Upon 'Verify Disk' it red errors out with: Invalid node structure. The volume Macintosh HD coudl not be verified completely. Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk.
when I try to do other boot-key combos sometimes it will just turn on for a brief second and then turn back off again.
I have never tinkered around inside my machine either.
I don't have a current backup, I suppose that is what I will be doing now via target mode.
I have also checked for the flashback virus a couple weeks ago and was in the clear.

2009 MacBook Pro eh? It looks like your hard drive has failed. Three years is pretty standard. Often, then only hint you have is catastrophic failure.
If you put the old hard drive into an external enclosure or similar device, you may still be able to migrate your data from it. Just because it won't boot doesn't mean you can't still read from it. Still, I wouldn't keep trying it. As long as you are buying a new hard drive, may as well get sometime to use with Time Machine too.

  • System Failure - please help

I had the black screen with System Failure at the top.
System Failure cpu=0 code 00000001 (corrupt stack)
It also said Memory access exception (1,0,0).
Can this have anything to do with my internet service. I have been having trouble with my Mac ever since my cable company switched to roadrunner.
The system failure occured when my mac tried to open java.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Could be that's a kernel panic. Does the same screen reappear after you
press and hold the power button down for several seconds to power it off,
and then press it after awhile to restart?
If it is a kernel panic, you could try troubleshooting to find out. It takes
time and procedures outline a path to test the possibility here:
    resolving kernel panics
I'm wondering if some questionable RAM in the user accessed slot is part
of this issue, because it has been known to happen. There may be other
hardware causes of this kind of symptom; including logic board failure.
You can see if your computer can startup from the included Apple Hardware
Test disc (should be a CD or maybe on the bootable DVD if your system came
with all the OSX system stuff on DVDs) to see if error messages
    show. Not sure if any startup keyboard combos could help this;
maybe there's a reset that could purge corrupt data.
Hopefully it's something simple, like carefully removing the user-access
RAM and seeing if it runs normally. Check out the kernel panic info.

  • Hardware (failure?) help with SG200-26

Hi all, I need a small help with my Cisco SG200-26 (not PoE model). After a power failure, at restart the switch seems unable to reboot. The power led starts blinking in green, after some seconds the connected ports start blinking as well, but the the switch reboots automatically after few more seconds.
I tried to disconnect lan cables, power cord, and reset to factory by pressing and holding down the proper button for 30s and more, but no success.
In the small amount of time the switch's ports seem to be powered up, clients don't receive packets, don't ping each other or the switch manage address.
Is it an hw fault? Is it impossible to restore?
Thanks in advice, and excuse for my english.

Hi Andrea, sounds like the flash is corrupt. Unfortunately the switch does not have console access. This means you would need a replacement.

  • Z935 media test failure need help

All- seems I have caught a nasty bug on my Z935. On start up it goes to black screen with PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent
    Insert system disk in drive

this kind of message PXE-E61: Media test failure is referring to the internal HDD of the laptop.

  • Apple USB Modem+WinXP SP3 Failure.  Help?

I have installed a fresh Windows XP SP3 (via a full SP3 install CD) onto a Macbook Pro Unibody 2.8Ghz. Everything seems to work amazingly except for when I go to use the Apple USB Modem, my only means of accessing the internet currently.
When I attempt to dial out from Windows, the modem sound coming through the speakers seems to be scratchy, and to drop in and out. When the host computer responds, instead of the normal sequence of harsh sounds, there is a new, horrible, mangled array of bizarre sounds I have never heard emit from modems. It is such that I was sure either my telephone line or modem had suddenly failed... That is until I booted back into OS X and found the modem to work just fine again.
I have tried lowering port speed as low as 9600, and turning off a port buffer. Neither made any difference. I have also used Hyperterminal to do a soft modem reset and then to manually dial out with it, and it behaves the same. I thought perhaps the dial-up program was entering some command codes to the modem that was changing its protocols, but resetting and dialing out in Hyperterminal indicates that is not where the problem lies.
I googled around and found some reports of past Apple USB Modem issues that were resolved with Boot Camp Beta 1.1.2. But here I am with Boot Camp 2.0 so I don't know why I'm having this problem or what could be done about it.
    Thanks for any help!

I managed to get mine to connect once at 56k and once at 33k, but as you said it just drops very quickly. I think this is a driver issue, but I don't know why it works for some and not others. Apple seems to think the driver they supply with Boot Camp works with it or they wouldn't provide it. An Apple document from an older Boot Camp version (1.1.2 I think) says they now fixed it to work with the Apple Modem, but here I am with Boot Camp 2.1 and it's not working.
I read a bit about the modem itself, and it seems that the Apple USB Modem is actually a Motorola SM56. The "SM" stands for "soft modem". What it turns out this means is that the majority of the actual "modem" is a software program, and there is very little actual "hardware" involved. Perhaps this explains why with Windows/Boot Camp it sounds as if the modem is having a terrible hardware failure, whereas it is perfectly fine in OS X Leopard.
It would be nice to hear some more reports that this isn't working for anyone, or if there is a fix or.. Well any additional information would be nice.
That's about all I "know" at this stage.

  • Broken envy hinge/ no help from hp

After reading all the of the message boards and complaints of the the hinge on the Hp envy touchsmart, I called the service Number only to be told i am out of warranty and the cost to repair would be 179.00 .  That is unexceptable.
My warranty was only 90 days as I paid 685.00 for a refurbished 17 inch touchsmart from woot after listening to the never ending hp recording on how refurbished were as good as new tested and inspected....  (thought i was being a good consumer)
I have always purchased hp products (printers and such) and years ago Hp cared about customers and products, so I made the purchase.    The laptop is too large to haul around so it sits on a table I open and close it twice daily .  Shotty parts /workmanship is the only way my hinge could have snapped leaving small pieces of plastic on my table  and sounds like inside too.     Hp should recall and or fix the issue with these at their cost.    I have seen others on here get the help they needed with the thumbs up and reaching out hoping I will also get a repair, Thank You CandiM1

For instince, I had to search up what the pci express graphics slot was xD. Last time i tried to do this i had to call mutiple numbers that led me to breaking my cpu. If anybody could leave STEP-BY-STEP instructions to enable that pci express graphics i would be very appretiated. Now here are the things i know for sure. This craphics card is a Geforce 650 graphics card that i know for a fact can work on my Hp Envy desktop. I have enought power suplyage to power sed Graphics card. So I already know how to insert the card, But thats pretty much it. I dont know if i have to have the External graphics card in while enabling the pci graphics. So Please be very discrptive while you answer this. I have already failed once, and had to send in my cpu to the repair station in hp. THAT TOOK 15 DAYS! It is expose to be on my front porch in 2 days. The grapics card is a $115 dollar item that i do not want to return because it seems that it can improve my frames while playing my Video games. So if anybody could help me with this i would be very thankful. Just leave the steps down below in VERY discriptive words that a 14 year old would understand. Thank you. Lastly I know what the bios is and also how to get there. Thats is all, THANKS YOU I forgot to tell you. • Possible Hard Drive Failure - Please Help

    Hello everyone.
I have a 24" Aluminum iMac (Mid 2007 model, I believe) that was purchased around November 2007. The internal hard drive is 500 GB (roughly 300 GB for OS X and 200 GB for Windows XP). My problem is that my iMac doesn't want to boot into OS X. Please note that I can still access my Windows XP partition by holding the option when the computer starts up.
Here's a list of the things I've tried so far:
-Calling the support number: The gentleman took me through some basic trouble shooting steps (including booting in Single User Mode and typing the fsck command) but couldn't resolve the issue, so he gave me a case number and made an appointment at a local Apple store which I could not attend. I have yet to reschedule another appointment.
-Booted the "sick" Mac in Target Disk Mode while connecting it to another "savior" Mac via FireWire: Nothing. The target Mac goes into TDM correctly (FireWire logo bounces around screen), but the savior Mac did not recognize it. (The drive didn't mount?) This was the case with two different savior Macs.
-Booted in Verbose Mode: I held down Command+V while booting the computer. The trouble seems to arise directly after the line "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement: Intialization complete". The next step results in an error reading "disk0s2: I/O error.", then the computer shuts down after about 45 seconds.
-Inserted "Mac OS X Install Disc 1": I held down option and selected to boot from the CD. I chose English as the main language. When the welcome screen pops up (to re-install Leopard), I instead chose to run the Disk Utility option from the menu bar. I see my hard drive (465.8 GB) which is split into two partitions ("Macintosh HD" which I assume is disk0s2, and "disk0s3" which I assume is my Windows XP partition). I attempt to verify disk permissions on "Macintosh HD" but it almost immediately bumps back with an error saying "First Aid failed. Disk Utility stopped verifying permissions on 'Macintosh HD' because the following error was encountered: The underlying task reported failure on exit." Next, I click on Verify Disk instead of Verify Disk Permissions. The errors in the details list (red colored text?) include "Incorrect number of thread counts", "Invalid node structure", "Volume check failed", and "Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed."
-Tried to make an image of my current disk onto an external HD connected through FireWire: I thought this looked bad, so I figured I could re-install Leopard entirely. However, I have years of data on this hard drive that are irreplaceable (my fault for not backing it up to begin with). I hooked up a brand new 1 TB external drive via FireWire800. In Disk Utility, I can see the 1 TB external alongside my 500 GB internal. I clicked on the "Macintosh HD" disk and clicked "New Image" and directed it to create an image of my internal drive on my external drive. I click Save. After about five seconds, it bounces back with an error reading "Unable to create 'Macintosh HD.dmg'. (Input/output error)".
    Questions:
    1. What the heck happened? Is the problem the result of a head crash? Is it a problem in the boot sector?
    2. Is there any possible way to recover the data on the hard drive?
    3. Does a failure like this get covered by Apple Care Protection Plans? (the computer is covered, by the way)
Thank you very very much in advance. Sorry for the huge amount of text. :-x

Buy Disk Warrior and use it to repair your OS X volume (if it's repairable.) If DW cannot repair the volume then use Disk Utility to reformat the volume using the Zero Data (one pass) Security option.
Do you have a backup of your OS X volume? Since you have tried using TDM to access the drive without success it's reasonable to assume your data may be lost. If you have an external hard drive you can use, then you could attempt to use file recovery software to see if your data are recoverable.
At this point it is premature to assume the drive is bad since your Windows volume is functional. If you have Windows software for reading Mac drives you may try accessing the OS X volume from Windows.
    Basics of File Recovery
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten with recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

  • Hard Disk Failure - Please Help

    Hi,
I have a HP probook 4730s. The laptop is 13 months old and the warranty has expired. The HDD has been laging lateley and also the system restore took, the last time it was ran took longer as usual, now at the startup i receive a message that the disk needs to be replaced. I ran several diagnostics on the disk and it found 2000+ bad sectors. I will go and buy a new HDD and replace it but i have some questions about how to make the new HDD function as the old one did. The system came with preinstalled windows home premium and there was no restore CD (DVD) that came with it.
Please advise me on the following if possible:
    - The existing HDD is 640GB 5400 from Hitachi. Does it matter what disk i buy. I was thinking of buying a 750GB, 5400, 8MB, SATA II 300
    - The existing HDD has 3 Partitions. C - main, D - HP_RESTORE with the system restore image on it, and E- HP_Tools. How do i reformat the new drive to have the same configuration, since there are obviouseley some functions connected to the BIOS utilities. My wish is to make 2 paritions. One main 80GB for the system and the other with the remaining space for data. Can i just backup the HP_RESTORE parititon (D) with the system restore files to the second partition and run it from there.
    - The system came with preinstalled windows home premium OEM i figure. Is there any way to make a clean install of just windows from the system restore file and not to install all the other HP application but just to chose the ones i would like or download them from the HP website and install them subsequently.
    - How do i get the windows home premium key and where can i find the right version of windows home premium to do a clean install.
That i think about sums it up. I would like to thank anyone in advance who can help me to resolve this.
    Regards!
    Igor

You should have a Windows 7 OEM Key Code on the bottom of the laptop or inside the battery bay. The Key Code will work with a Windows 7 disk from Microsoft. I think with 200 bad sectors on the hard drive you are going to have a hard time getting any large block of data off the old drive without corruption so I would not try to clone the old disk to the new or try to work from the old recovery partition. If you can get to the old drive's data there should be an "HP" or "swsetup" folder at the root of the C:\ drive which has the original apps and drivers and you might try to save that. If the system can still be booted on the old drive you might try the HP Recovery Manager and see if you can still burn the recovery disk set it allows you to make. Yours should have the "modern" version that will give you the option of a factory image recovery or an OS only recovery. But with that many bad sectors I am skeptical you can get useable recovery disks off it.

  • Big problems after hard drive failure - Please help.

About 2 weeks ago, my Macbook seized, and was sent to Apple to repair.
It was found that the hard drive failed, and 2 weeks later I received my macbook back with a new hard drive.
Luckily I had backed up my home drive and was able to restore it using backup.
Now this is where my problems start.
My home drive is not the same name ( I think - I can'r remember too well what it was called previously )
I have my entire music library backed up to an external hard drive, and mounting this hard drive is a REAL pain in the *** now.
Sometime it loads up, sometime it just doesn;t get recognised, and I can put the USB connection in and out 10 times before it mounts.
I have verified the disk, and nothing is wrong.
Does anyone know what this problen could be ?
I have left the external hard drive in during the night, and after the macbook goes to sleep, I will go back to it in the morning, and the hard drive has been unmounted, and I repeat the exercise over again of trying to mount the drive.
Its so annoying, and I just dont know wht to do.
If anyone can help, I;d really appreciate it.
    Griff

SMART status is a pretty reliable indicator of what is going on. You should back up your irreplaceable files as soon as possible.
