HP is forcing me to buy yellow ink catridge that I don't need.

Why do I have to buy a new yellow ink cartridge when I only print docs in black? The yellow cartridge is still half full.
My printer won't print my docs till I replace this yellow ink catridge that I don't want or need.

Last month I had to buy a magenta. The printer lets me print by manually prompting the printer to print with black ink only for about a dozen times, then it won't print at all till I replace the color cartridge.

Let's start with what you are trying to install. Adobe Reader is free, so it won't be forcing you to buy anything. So
- What are you trying to install (full name, please, Adobe make lots of things)
- What system (e.g. Windows 7, Mac OS Lion, iPad...)
- Where do you go (what web address) to start off?
- Why were you "forced" to do this?

Hi, not really an installation question, but maybe y'all can help me nontheless. Just got the hp m476dw printer, and I'm wondering if it will let me print in black if my supply of colored ink is out. I'm just trying to see how much ink I need to have on hand--I don't want to run out of yellow and suddenly not be able to print in black, but the ink is so expensive, that I don't want to buy a ton of extra colored ink cartridges that I don't need. This printer has worked fine in the past. It is a bit old. I used one that has a fax machine for a while, but after I didn't need that 1, I set this 1 up again...maybe a yr ago? Recently, it has not recognized the ink cartridges as being installed. I believe I bought the 74 & 75 cartridges maybe 2 months ago, so they're fairly new. I've looked up help on this board and tried unplugging from the back then the outlet for 15 seconds and plugging it back in...no help. I read how to clean off the cartridges and where the cartridges go into...no help. I even unplugged it from the back and the outlet for 20 minutes...no help. I read somewhere on this board no other printers use 74 & 75 ink (or was it one of them?). So if I were to buy new ink and that isn't the problem....? Can anyone help me? Thank you!

HP Officejet Pro L7580 - Yellow Ink Cartridge keeps popping out although it's brand new.

I have had this officejet printer for about 4 years. I have never had a serious problem until now. A few days ago I replaced the yellow ink cartridge (88XL) because the ink indicator showed it as being completely empty. After replacing the cartridge with a brand new cartridge from OfficeMax, the cartridge pops out while I'm trying to print or copy something and the displays says that the yellow cartridge's ink level is not enough and needs to be replaced.
It seems at first glance that this is a mechanical problem concerning the yellow ink slot; however, I'm not sure. Or I suppose the problem could be related to the cartridge itself. To get around this problem, I've held down the cartridge and stuck a small pencil in the opening where the small latch of the "ink cartridge compartment cover" normally goes in. That way I've been able to print, but it's really a hassle. And honestly I don't think this is the real solution to the problem.
If anyone knows how to resolve this issue, I'd like to hear from you. Please let me know as soon as possible. Worst comes to worst I will have to go out and buy another printer.

Try this for a Quick Fix ...........
After reading other forum comments from people having the same problem with the yellow cartridge popping-out, combined with others who have realised that HP have no interest in compensating anyone for this rediculous example of, at best, 'bad design', or at worst 'blatent planned obsolescence', I have created a 'quick fix' that may add another 1, 2 or more years of life to the HP Officejet Pro L7580 Printer.
This is not the elegant technical solution I was hoping for. However, in hindsight, it may prove to be a more reliable solution than replacing the faulty part that is actually causing the problem. So, here it is the Quick Fix ........
I found a wooden triangular door stop that I cut to size that fitted exactly in the space between the plastic door and the offending yellow cartridge. To hold it in place, I wrapped the doorstop with 2" cellotape, then I stuck the door stop to the inside of the plastic door with double sided cellotape (double sided stick-on foam would also work well). With the doorstop in the correct place, the plastic door closed perfectly and was snug enough to apply sufficent pressure to the offending yellow cartridge, and hence stopping it from popping out again. To make sure the plastic door does not 'fly open' with the pressure of the yellow cartridge (when it wants to pop out!), I applied another piece of 2" cellotape around the outside of the door, holding it to the body of the photocopier.
This exercise only took 10-15 mins to do. I feel this is a much better option than spending another $300+ on a new All-in-One system, as well as being a good environmental solution. If this is DELIBERATE 'planned obsolescence', companies like HP need to be more accountable for, at best, 'sloppy design'. Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you cant read what I've written above then your system is just pathetic. At my age, I don't need to be instructed on "how to write a good question". Why must a brief detailed technical question be summarized? Why cant I do the supposedly simple task of downloading "all" of my photos from my 64g iPhone 5s onto my Dell Latitude E6410 laptop in one simple press of the button process? Instead my Laptop is always trying to download mega gigabytes of all my laptop photos onto my iPhone. I am now totally convinced that the Apple Corporation has implemented a scheme trying to "force" me, and every other Apple customer, to buy more iCloud storage instead of allowing us the cheaper option of storing our own photos on our own lap tops and our own external hard drives. If this is the case then Apples tactics are back-firing, and I for one, will never buy another complicated, user-unfriendly, rotten capitalistic Apple product again. If there is a simple way of downloading all of my photos onto my laptop in one simple move then why cant it "simply" show you how to do it, like all the other companies smart phones do? Or whats wrong with the FREE photo stream conduit that over air transfers images to your pc pictures folder (And you don't need to buy any extra storage ever) the images just transfer !
Also what is so difficult with plugging in to a USB socket and having images automatically uploaded/downloaded into your Pictures folder ?

True the sync process is all encompassing rather then delta but it does mean true syncing

HP OfficeJet Pro L7590 suddenly won't print yellow ink.

My OfficeJet Pro L7590 suddenly won't print yellow ink. The cartridge isn't empty. It still prints everything else. Things that require yellow ink come out a different color (ie: green comes out blue). I've cleaned the printheads several times from the "tools" menu and the report says the printheads are in "good" condition. I've also tried soaking the printheads in hot water for 5 min like was mentioned on here. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

If you have, and still see bad red and green blocks on the PQ Diagnostic page (as described in the document), you may have to replace the black/yellow printhead (even if the printhead health is reported as 'good'). Photosmart C7280 All in One error notice saying out of yellow ink when cartridge has been replaced

Hello Forum members...I hope you can help me.
When I try and print something I get an error notice which says that I must replace the yellow ink cartridge and telling me I can print in Black only (which is fine because i usually use the greyscale fast print option anyway). However the worrying thing is that the error notice also says that if I do not replace the yellow cartridge then the printer will cease to work.
I did replace the cartridge quite some time ago. An HP cartridge from HP online. The cartridge is showing full on the bar chart display and yet still the error notice comes up when I try to print.
I hardly use the printer. I am a retired person who may occasionally print out the odd letter or email (I would say on average 2/3 pages per 2/3 weeks.) I very, very occasionally print the odd photo....say twice a year 6 photos.
I got the printer in 2008. This was a replacement FOC for an earlier model of the same type. It was one month out of guarantee when the earlier printer did exactly the same thing. I had just replaced several cartridges (the first replacements). The printer was eventually replaced by the store I had bought it from because they could not repair it. It just stopped functioning. Some computer type glitch
I am now afraid that if I do not act soon then this printer will seize up and be irrepairable.
I do hope some teccy member of the forum will be able to help me.

CS2 documents print yellow ink only

I'm on a Mac running OSX 10.4.11. When printing InDesign CS2 docs to my Canon i80 printer the documents printed out gray instead of black. Today I was prompted to install InDesign April 2005 Compatibility Updater. I did so hoping this would be the fix I need, but now my documents print only in yellow ink. Other documents produced in Word, etc. print normally in black. What in the world is going on?

Does the entire document print in Yellow, or only what should be on the yellow plate..?
If so have a look at the Output panel in the print dialog and see if you have Separations selected.
