  • Scanning using LaserJet Pro M1217 nfw MFP

Product: HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw MFP
    Mac OSX - Mountain Lion
I would like to scan using this printer. I can not find a reliable method. Any suggestion?

I just figured this out!!  So happy!!  I am using Windows, so not sure if this will help you MAC users (hoping to be one soon, haha).  Here are the instructions I followed:
Place the document to be scanned either in the feeder or on the flatbed glass
    Click Start
Click Programs (or All Programs depending on software)
Click HP and select your product (in this case, HP Color LaserJetPro MFP M177 fw)
Click HP Scan, select a scanning shortcut (e.g.: save as PDF), adjust settings as desired
    Click Scan
And voila!  You will have your scanned document saved on your computer for emailing, etc.

  • HP LaserJet Pro M1217 nfw MFP - Scanner Error 22

We are having Scan/Copy/Fax issues. Specifically "Scanner Error 22" (Yes 22, no not 52). I cannot find a manual specific to this model. When I bring one up via HP's website the actual pdf of the manual is for two other versions and they have the Error 52, not 22. So I am not sure what to do.
We have tried to resolve by powering down, unplugging, replugging etc., it hasn't worked. It was already plugged directly into the wall vs. strip.
We have uninstalled/reinstalled the software. Still no change.
The error comes on as soon as it powers up.
If you open the scanner bed there is a red light in the top left corner, I assume the scanner has become broken some how and would need to be replaced, but, we are no longer sure who paid for the printer/if it ever had a warranty so we are trying to fix it any other way possible. It is less than a year old.
(The printing capabilites [sending from computer itself] work perfectly and the prints are beautiful. I hate to throw out a machine that works a little bit, just not all the way)
    Any suggestions?
The computer it was installed through is running Windows 7 SP1 32 bit. The machine is also connected through ethernet, nothing else I could see. I checked for any computer updates or driver updates that may have caused problems. Nothing I could see.
    Thanks in advance,
    BAR

    Hi @BayAreaRecovery,
I see that you are getting a Scanner 22 Error. I can help you today.
I have provided a URL to check the Warranty on the printer. It should have a 1 year warranty depending on your location. Check your product warranty.
Here is a document on how to do the full reset on the printer. I wasn't sure if you followed this procedure when you did the power reset yourself. A 'Scanner Error 22' Message Displays on the Printer Control Panel.

  • "Scanner error 22" messages on HP M1217 nfw

I have a three yr old LaserJet HP M1217 nfw and was successfully copying a booklet, and on one copy the "Scanner Error 22 " message appeared and I no longer copy anything.
Where do I find the de-coding for error messages (not in manual) or is a forum member familiar with this message?

    Hello @briphi,

I understand you're receiving a "Scanner Error 22" using the Laserjet M1217nfw. I will do my best to assist you! Please follow this HP document on A 'Scanner Error 22' Message Displays on the Printer Control Panel. Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. • Hp LaserJet M1217 nfw MFP won't allow me to setup wireless...

I am trying to setup a newly purchased, refurbished hp LaserJet M1217 nfw MFP so that I can print wirelessly, but it isn't giving me the option to do it.  I started the process trying to follow the directions on a Windows 8 (hiss!!!) machine.  The computer recognized that the printer (or something) was plugged in, but didn't start up automatically and I had to insert the CD into the drive to start the setup.  When I chose the option to configure for a new wireless network, the software told me to connect the printer to the computer....but it was already connected.  I chalked it up to Windows 8 being the devil and installed the printer on my wife's computer, still running Windows 7.  I ran downstairs to grab the rest of the documentation after starting the configuration process and when I got back, the thing was installed....but only on my wife's computer.  I can't figure out how to get the printer to be accessible wirelessly from other computers and am hoping to get more help.  I tried using the CD to configure the printer, but got the same message regarding connecting the printer when it was already connected.  Any help would make me hate this printer less and possibly not send it back to get another Epson printer (Which took almost no time to set up for wireless and was perfect....until my wife broke it).  Thanks a lot...
    OGDEN

Just as an add on:  Does this thing even have functionality as a scanner?  While it makes copies (I tried it out), if it can just be used as a scanner, there is no documentation and nowhere that I can find on the computer to use such a function.  What a terrible product.  No information available.  Doesn't appear to be all that useful.  On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm giving it a -3.65 right now.  Someone from HP better get a reply of some sort to me soon or the thing goes back in the box and Epson gets the money instead...

    Hi @pwyckoff ,
I see that you are experiencing issues scanning from the ADF. The paper isn't being recognized. I would like to help you out today.
It might be a paper sensor or hardware issue with the printer.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.

  • M1217 nfw it doesn't work

    Hi!
I have m1217 nfw but the problem is that it doesn't work at all. Since I bought it it was working with the 1st cartridge for several months but then when I bought a replacement it stopped. I am trying to connect with the computer via WIFI or cable but it doesn't make any connection in both ways. I thought it's because my landlord change the wifi operator but the strange thing is that it doesn't work even with the usb cable. I use WIndows Vista OS. It is very strange the whole thing and I can't find any solution. If anybody knows what I can do in this case I will be very grateful.

    Hi @Ronlivko ,
I see that you are having issues printing through a USB connection after replacing the toner, you are unable to also setup the wireless connection. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.
HP LaserJet Pro M1130, M1210, and M1530, Multifunction Printers - Printing Information Pages.
Were you able to print the self test?
Any lights flashing on the printer?
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage if you are can't print the hardware test page.
    1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
    2. Check the memory chip for damage.
    3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
    4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, black toner on the drum or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
    5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved.
I have provided a document to go through the steps for  Resolving Print Quality Issues.
You may need to uninstall and reinstall the printer software to setup the printer over the network.
I would restore the printer back to defaults first. Go to Settings, Service, Restore Defaults.
Perform a clean boot on the computer and turn off the Antivirus Software before running the installation. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
What operating system are you using?
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know the results.

  • HT4356 HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw MFP.  AirPrint issues.

My printer, the HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw MFP, is listed above as an AirPrint-enabled printer model, but I am still receiving the “No AirPrint Printers Found” message.  Since I have successfully printed from three PCs connected to the WiFi, I know the HP M1217 wireless printer is working.
    Not a Apple network.
2 PCs running Windows 7 and one XP.
    iPhone 5.1.1
Can anyone help my iPad and iPhone 4s find the printer OR explain why these devices do not work and my three PC do?

Hi Scott, ensure that you have the latest firmware installed that enables this function.

Will HP AIO App remote supports HP LaserJet Pro M177fw Multifunction Printer later.
Or is there any other way to control the printer to scan without going back to my computer?

With regards to the no support of the AiO remote app and the m177, this is only on the iOS and android app.
You will need to use your desktop/computer as your go to scan for the m177.

  • LaserJet Pro 200 color mfp m276 Printing issues

I have had this printer for about a year now.  Now it has started printing solid black lines across the page I am printing, whether it be from my computer or a fax.  I can run the cleaning process from the printer and its fine for a few hours and then back to the solid black lines.  It gets so bad there is more ink on the paper than white when it does this.  Have tried everything I can think  of to cure this to no avail.  I am running hp cartridges and just plain white paper.  Any ideas as to how to fix this.  These lines are thick lines, just not _____ but are about 1 " wide each.
I really need help with this really soon or I will have to replace it with another brand.  I use this in my office and can't have important faxes coming across with all these lines so I can't read it.  I posted this Saturday and still waiting for someone to respond.

    Hi @RandallRaley ,
I understand that when printing, you are getting solid black lines across the paper and now on the back of the paper. You are using HP cartridges, plain paper and have ran the cleanings with the same result. I can help you today.
Try another type of 20lb -24lb plain paper to see if you have the same results.
Update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw Drivers.
Select your operating system, click next, click the link for firmware.
    Try printing again.
If the issue persists, follow the steps for aligning and cleaning the toners, printing a Print Quality page, inspecting the toner for damage, checking the paper and driver settings to see if this will resolve the issue.
    Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Are you getting the black lines on the Hardware Self Tests also?
Where is the printer located? (on a desk, on a enclosed shelf in desk)
What kind of paper are you using?
What is the weight of the paper?
Was there any black on the toner?
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

  • Laserjet pro 100 color mfp m175

We have a number of HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP M175's in our school.  They are connected to the network via ethernet cable rather than wirelessly. A number of users print to them either from a Windows XP (running service pack 2) desktop or from a Windows 7 (newly built) laptop.  They were working fine for a few days and then all of a sudden they may have any of the following problems:
unsupported personality error printed at the top of a lot of pages (ie you may try and print one page but hundreds of pages come out with this error).
there may be an invalid driver error on the control panel on the printer
there may be weird alien-looking characters at the top of hundreds of blank pages
initially all of the printers had the driver installed that came with the printers, when we started getting the error, we then tried running the diagnostics doctor on the hp web site, which said all the drivers were valid.  We have also tried using the universal print driver from the HP support website, but still get the problem after a few days.  We can make all of the errors go away by re-installing any of the above drivers, but then the problem starts happening again after a few days. The server is Windows 2003R2 running service pack 2, we have tried installing the drivers on the server too, but they won't install. Another printer was set up this week in the school office which only has people printing from Windows 7 machines and doesn't have the error - this could be because it's too soon to happen yet, or maybe because there are no Windows XP machines printing to it? (It does print through the same server as the others)  Help would be greatly appreciated, we are a school and so can't afford to be wasting lots of paper, plus this is taking up all of our time rather than fixing other issues!  thanks in advance

Tammy, sounds like there could be a couple things that might cause this issue. The first of which is that the RJ45 cable you are using to connect the printer might have become corrupted. I would replace that cord and see if the issue remains.
Second, I want you to see about updating the firmware from this website :
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=5076465
If that still presents issues, you can use that same website to download the more recent drivers. I would uninstall the old version you have on the computer and then open that link and install the full feature software.
Let me know how that goes and I will get right back with you!
I hope you are having a wonderful week, and I hope that the weather where you are located is as beautiful there as it is here!
    -Spencer
