HP Officejet 6500 can't print after 10.6.6 upgrade

I have a HP Officejet 6500 and can't print after 10.6.6 upgrade. Scan copy and fax are fine. I also cannot get the HP utility to recognize the device. Connected via USB.

Same issue via ethernet.
Can print installing as printer from system preferences, but the HP utility cannot recognize the device.

  • OfficeJet 4622 can't print after i changed ink cartridges

I can't print anything since i replaced the ink cartridges. I have cleaned the pin heads and alighned them. I have done the
in level test with no issues. I have downloaded all the new drivers i needed and any updates. The print report doesnt print anything except the colors down at the bottom of the page. Any ideas at all?? These are HP cartridges also.

As this is an OJ 4622, regardless if it's out of warranty I'd advise calling HP Phone Support as you may require a replacement. Can you please let us know how you get on? Thanks, Ciara

  • Can't print after iTunes and Quicktime upgrade

I installed the upgrades to iTunes 7.1 and Quicktime 7.1.5. Now none of my applications can print to any of my printers. The behavior is that the print window appears normal, and I can "Save to pdf". When I click "Print" the appllication pops up an error message saying that printing is not possible. Eudora says it was trying to "allocate a GrafPort". the other apps give an uninformative message. I've tried both Apple and non-Apple apps. I haven't found an app that can print to any of my 3 priinters - 2 via USB, 1 via network connection.
I've reinstalled both upgrades and 10.4.8 and Security and patch. I've repaired permissions. The drivers are up to date. I zapped the PRAM. I can still print from my bootable backup. I've tried to use Fixamac's Printer Server Repair utility. It runs on the bootable backup, but it rejects my user passwords on the broken system (i.e., I can't run it)
I can live with the bootable backup for awhile, but I'd appreciate any advice for tracking down and fixing the problem.

  • Can't print after 10.6.8 upgrade.

iMac. HP Photosmart C4680. It will spit out one page (last numerically) before pausing the job.

    Hello Bob,
Some actions that may help to get you printing again. Try the first and if that doesn't work, the second and so forth.
    Restart your Mac
Remove the existing print queue and add it again.
    Repair disk permissions
    Reset the printing system
Note that resetting the printing system will remove all print queues from Print & Fax. So if you have another printer and/or scanner listed in Print & Fax, then this will also be removed. But it will not delete the printer drivers, so you will only need to add the print queues again via Print & Fax.
How to Reset the Printing System
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
    4. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    5. Restart your Mac

  • How do I print from an iPad 3 Generation to an Officejet 6500 wireless E709n printer

I am a new iPad user and I have a 3rd Generation iPad and want to print to an Officejet 6500 wireless E709n printer but the iPad does not recognize the printer when I try to print or visa-versa.  I am using a Ubee Modem/Router and don't know what to do. What do I have to do or what do I have to download to make the iPad and HP Printer print.

    Hi,
Your printer is not in the list therefore no AirPrint available. Your printer does not support ePrint therefore you can use Home & Biz apps. Have you downloaded apps to your iPad yet ? If yes, please try:
Pressing the iPad home button two times (a list of currently running apps should appear at the bottom of the screen).
Press and hold the HP ePrint Home & Biz app until it starts to move around.
Press the red 'X' on the app to end its process.
    Press the iPad home button.
    Regards.

  • How do I print #12 envelopes with HP Officejet 6500 E709n Series printer?

When I try to print 4.75" x 11" (#12 envelopes) on my HP Officejet 6500 E709n Series printer, it gives an error msg. and will not print. Is there a work around for this, or do I have to use #10 size and make it do?
    Win XP pro, MS word.

You could try creating 'paper' the size of the #12 envelope, and try that possibly.

    Welcome to the forums Etow,
I saw your post about the issue you are having with printing from Google Chrome. Have you tried disabling your pop up blocker to see if that will help? Also see this guide about Printing with Chrome.
If the above does not help, try using Firefox or Internet Explorer to print.

  • Officejet 6500 - can i choose tray to print to?

I purchased one of these today and the lady told me that I would be able to choose a print tray like the main bottom feed tray and the fax/scan feed area.  I haven't unboxed it yet because I was just doing a little research.  I read the manual and don't see how I can do this and I don't want to install the software or take it out of the box if it cannot.  I need to be able to have 1 type of paper in one area (like shipping lables) and normal printer paper in the other.
Can anyone confirm if this is part the the officejet 6500 wireless functionality?  Thanks!

Choosing a tray to print to is a function of any computer and not on the actual program of the Printer.
It is in the print settings.  When you click on File, then Print, it should give you options to choose which tray you would like to print from.  Before you take my advise, wait for others to reply.  I don't want to be wrong and have you open the box, just to turn out my answer was wrong.

  • Officejet 6500 printhead not printing black ink

I just purchased a new printhead and it shows I have full new black ink cartridge, but it prints all colors except black.

    Hello bstimson1.
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your Officejet 6500, after purchasing a brand new printhead, is still not printing in black ink.
Now, buying a brand new printhead is not a guaranteed fix, but I can certainly try and resolve this issue. When purchasing this printhead, did you receive setup ink cartridges? Additionally, where did you purchased the printhead?
Did you clean the electrical contacts inside the product, before installing this printhead? I will provide an HP document on performing this step here.
Please follow this HP document on Common Print Quality Problems, as well. If you "Clean the Printhead" three times, you could see improvement.
Please inform me your troubleshooting steps.
Looking forward to hear from you.
    Hello adeterman.
Welcome to the HP Forums as well! I understand you are not witnessing any black ink when printing a document. What type of printer do you have? Click here to find out: Model Number.
I am going to recommend following this entire HP document on Common Print Quality Problems.
If you are still receiving a defective printout, please contact HP techincal support for further assistance. Click here to find out: HP Worldwide Contact.
Please inform me your troubleshooting steps.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 only prints after reboot of my iMac

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 (A909a).  Not wireless.  After I reboot my iMac it'll print for a short period of time, thereafter it will not print or scan unless I reboot.  Typical scenario is that I send something to print.  After 40 minutes + nothing.  I reboot and it starts to print after the chime but before I sign into my account.
Why is this happening?  Can anyone help?
    Scott

I installed the update from HP and haven't had any problems since!

  • Officejet 6500 wireless only print header and footer.

I have Dell desktop and Toshiba laptop with HP officejet 6500. On my Dell, pages from the internet (email, etc) only print the top line and bottom line of the page. Pages from Word, Exel, etc print fine. On my Toshiba laptop every thing prints ok. This is a Dell 519 desktop. This is a wireless setup. Hope this is enough info. Appreciate any help I can get Thank You. [email protected]

Just to be clear - the 6500 is connected to your router via wireless?  What brand/model of router?
Your MBPro has two instances of the printer (one USB and one wireless)?  If so, delete the USB instance.  Also, turn printer sharing off.
Now, go to the other computers and delete and re-add the printer in the print queue:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer with Bonjour next to it, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.

  • Officejet 6500 scanner not recognized after driver upgrade with Mac OS Lion

I have an Officejet 6500 E709n. Using Mac OS Lion 10.7.5 all software is updated.
I was having printing issues so I "reset printing system" thru Mac System Preferences and uninstalled my print drivers that originally came with the printer from HP. I am using the drivers updated by Mac OS Lion.  The printing problem was solved! Sadly, I now have no scanning capability. I have followed many suggestions on scanning that I've found here on the forum, but my system no longer recognizes my printer as a scanner. The scan option is not even visible under the "print and scan" window in system pref. (I used to be able to click "print" or "scan" buttons on the printer window but even now there are no buttons giving those options).
Thanks for your help and time!

    Hi,
As I understand from your email that you are unable to scan from the MAC OS X System, this is due to the software issue, so we need to uninstall and reinstall the completed software,
Please follow the steps below and let us know how it was.
Step 1:- Run the Scrubber to uninstall the previously installed HP printer drivers
     • Double click on the Macintosh Icon.
     • Click on Application and then on Hewlett-Packard.
     • Click on HP Uninstaller.
     • Select the device and press and hold Control + Options + Command (Apple) keys on the keyboard.
     • Click on Uninstall.
     • You will get a popup window “Are you sure you want to uninstall all HP Software packages”.
     • Click on OK to continue.
Note: It will remove the software for all HP printers. If you have any other HP printer installed, you may have to reload the software and set up the printer again.
During the process of uninstall, it might prompt you to enter the password of your computer to continue with the uninstall process. Please enter the password and click on Continue.
Step 2: Download and install the latest software.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-98080-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=
    Step 3: Add a Printer
    1. Click the Apple menu icon, and then click System Preferences on the drop-down menu.
    2. Click Printers & Scanners to open the printer’s folder.
    3. Click the plus sign (+).
    4. Select the product and from the print using option, from the drop down menu select the printer and not Airprinter, and then click the Add button.
    5. Follow onscreen instructions if any.
    6. After a few seconds, the product displays in the Printers list.
Step 4. Try Scanning through HP Scan Application.
Click on the Go Button on the top.
    Click on Applications.
    Click on HP Scan.
    Try Scanning and check.
Also check from Print and Scan.
    Let us know the results.
