HP Photosmart C4585 - can't print test pages + copies are all reduced in size

I have 2 problems with an HP Photosmart C4585 All-in-one printer.
Firstly, I cannot print test prints ie 'Network Configuration Page' and the 'Run Wireless Network Test' page. It sounds as though it's printing but it produces blank sheets.
Secondly, trying to Copy A4 originals to A4 paper the printout is always reduced in size to about a quarter of the sheet (more like photo size) - no matter which setting I select. It's also printed blue.
The printer is not connected to a computer but I successfully print A4 documents in black, from an iPad using the HP ePrint app. So it is just the copy facility which is malfunctioning.

Can only print test page on new SL install, nothing from Word, IE, etc.

I have a 2008 MBP w/ OS 10.6.2 installed, using an Epson Workforce 600 w/ Epson's latest drivers and installed everything going by their 10.6 FAQ install guide.
So I go into the Epson printer software and I can successfully print a test page off that program. But when I try to print MS Office documents, a .pdf off Preview, a webpage off Firefox or IE, or any other program besides Epson's printer software, nothing will print. What happens is the print box comes up with my print options, and I click on the blue "Print" button, and it will flash light blue like it knows I clicked on it, but after that nothing, the print dialog box stays up and nothing changes.
Any ideas on what I can do to get the rest of my applications printing properly? It ***** having to boot into Bootcamp just to print stuff.

Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with connecting the printer to your new wireless router set up.
I see that you have attempted several steps to get reconnected. I do have a few additional steps we can try.
On the printer, please go to the SetUp menu, followed by the Network menu. Once in the Network menu, please go to the bottom of the list to the Restore Network Defaults option and select YES.
Once the Restore Network Defaults has been done, please go back into the Network menu and select Wireless Setup Wizard. Follow the steps in the Wizard and this should now connect to your router.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

HT3500 I have mosx Lion have no driver for my photosmart c4580 printer and the printer test page gives no ip address. How do I get my printer to work?

We bought a new Mac bookpro using the latest version of lion 10.8. We also have a c4580 photosmart printer and have bee unable to find a driver down load for this printer and our Macbook. We have tried to use u tube and other sites including Apple support to try to connect to our printer. We run a printer test page and the ip address comes up "not applicable". Do we need to connect the macbook to the router? What are we doing wrong? HP site will not give us a driver download. I have to buy it. Seems simplar to goand buy a new printer but this one is still good. Can anyone help? We are not as software savy as alot of you out there. Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue when attempting to connect to a wireless network.
Have you changed the router for a new one?
Make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Make sure that you are with in the 4'-20' range.
You can try the HP Print and Scan Doctor as well. Let me know if you see any error codes or messages.

Can print test pages from embedded web server., put not from windows

Hello,
I have a P1102w that worked perfectly through the last 5 month.
Two days ago it stopped printing anything for some reason. What happen is, when I print something, it spools, but then I get Error-Printing under the status when I double click the printer icon in the "devices and printers" manager of windows 7.
Right now I can see the printer in Ad Hoc. I can load the embedded web server,. And I can print test pages from the embedded web server.
However, if I tried to print test pages using the printer icon in "devices and printers" manager".. it doesnt print!
If I go to Devices and Printers -> Properties -> Advanced -> "Print directly to printer" -> Apply
I got an error box: "Printer settings could not be saved. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000070c)."
The printer works fine when connected to other laptops (with exactly the same driver/setting)..
This problem is driving me crazy !

An ad-hoc connections is much more unstable than an infrustructure network using a router. At this point i would suggest getting a wireless router, and then connect the printer to your network through the router.

Printer sharing print test page

I purchased a new Dell Studio XP 8000 running Windows 7 and connected my HP Photosmart D7500 to the computer. My older Dell Dimension 2400 is running Windows XP Professional Ver. 2002 Ser.Pak 3. I networked two and can see the shared HP D7500 printer. When I click print test page, I receive a Test Page failed to print error. This also happens on my Toshiba wireless lap top. Please help

HP 3180 All-in-one will print test page but nothing else

Hi,
I have a HP 3180 All-in-one connected to my desktop PC which runs on Vista OS. The printer seems to be perfectly happy to print a test page but with all other documents it feeds the paper as though it's getting ready to print, then the cartridge moves to start and nothing happens. The programs I have tried printing from include Microsoft Word 2003, Opera (to see if it was just an issue with Word) and Notepad. Google Chrome won't print either, and pops up with the ONLY error message I have recieved from any program which states : "Something went wrong when trying to print. Please check your printer and try again."
Notepad seems to print fine, as with the test page. With all the other software nothing shows up in the printer queue at all when I open the Printers and Devices window. I have run HP Diagnostics on it and that says that nothing is wrong.
Is this a problem with driver versions? I believe my boyfriend has uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times.
Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Bexytea - I noticed you mentioned you had run the HP diagnostics on it. Not sure which one, but if it wasn't the print diagnostic utility, I'd definitely recommend running it:

If you've already tried that utilitiy with no success, you might try installing one of the drivers that comes with Windows Vista by going into the Printers window, right clicking and selecting add printer - follow the prompts, choose HP and there is a selection for HP Photosmart 3100 series. It may not provide full functionality, but it would help narrow down the issue and might provide a workaround for the short term.

Hp all-in One remote prints test page but cannot find printer for anything else

The HP All-in-One application can print test pages on my 8610 but when I go to any document or photo and try to print I get the following message "This Printer is not available." I have checked and have the latest version of the HP All-in-one Printer Remote application and the HP Print Service Plugin applications from the Google Play store. I am using a Samsung Galaxy 5 running Android 5.0. If I print a page from my laptop using wireless to this printer, I can see the All-in-One application tracking my printer status so I know it can see the printer. The app on the phone will show the status under the printer name going from Ready to Unavailable to Ready as a document is printed and then finished. I am printing directly with local WIFI and am not using the ePrint feature.

I hope you have a pleasant experience here. I'd like to help you with the issues you are having printing from your Samsung Galaxy S5 to your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One printer. Firstly, do you have the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet? The printer has a power moderator built in, so if it is plugged into a power surge bar or battery backup it may be getting inconsistent power. This can cause all kinds of firmware glitches (like the printer status not being broadcast properly). If that doesn't immediately resolve the issue, please follow the steps below: Network Power Reset: Let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router.), then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer. After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid. Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection. Restore Network Defaults and Reconnect: 1. On the front panel of the printer, touch your wireless icon at the top2. Select Settings.3. Select Restore Network Defaults.4. Restart your printer.5. Once it's booted back up, touch the wireless icon again.6. Select Settings.7. Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to enter your wireless network details.8. Try enabling the web services again. Another thing I would suggest, would be to download the HP ePrint app, rather than the All-in-One Remote. The Remote is moreso suited for scanning to your phone from your product, so I would suggest trying the ePrint app (you can download it from the Play Store). If the issue persists after these steps, please answer the following questions so I'm better able to assist: Are you able to print reliably from any other devices on your network?What brand and model of router are you using?What is it that you are trying to print? (ie. E-mail, photo, document)What app are you printing from? Won't print to photo tray, but will print test page

I have most current Vista driver, but can't print to photo tray. It won't pull the tray in, although it works great when printing test page. I tried various page/paper settings and "photo tray" light settings, but still won't print from Vista.
Tried 8250 printer properties, changing paper settings, but can't recognize settings, even though it sees the paper and prints the test page. Seemed to work just fine with XP.

Plugged into an XP machine, photo printed.
Plugged back into Vista, fooled with the settings, then it worked!
I don't know what exactly fixed it...

PSC 1510 always prints test page on startup; settings menu no help

My HP PSC 1510 All-in-one printer always prints a test page when I start it up, wasting ink and paper. I tried two things, neither of which solved the problem:
- Checking the settings, services, and every other menu I could find for any related options. Some other random help forums said there was a "print test page on startup" option somewhere, but I found nothing of that nature.
- Aligning the printer, as instructed by the test page it keeps printing out. Its first alignment failed, but the second alignment seemed to work. However, it still printed a test page the next time I started it up.
Extra information: I'm on Windows XP, and HP Software Update tells me there are no newer updates available. Also, this printer was sitting in the closet for a couple years--I only just recently hooked it up and gave it a new ink cartridge (so I can't say how it behaved before I gave it a new cartridge since it was on the shelf with no ink for a long time).

Deskjet 3052A printing test page, but not even recognized by any programs (Mac OSX 10.6.4)

I recently purchased an HP Deskjet 3052A (using drivers via CD for Deskjet 3050A J611 Series from HP in package) for home printing. It's been working great with the home Vista-based PC and my Win7 Laptop, but I'm having an issue with my wife's MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6.4). I have installed the software several times and the printer is recognized wirelessly in the "Print & Fax" area through System Preferences. I am able to print test pages galore in the "Show Printer Webpage" site. But, no other programs (Office Suite, web browsers, etc.) allow me to select the printer to print to it. I even have it set as my default printer, but when I File-Print, a different printer is shown. I try to select my new printer from the drop-down and I get a brief popup that says "Setting Up Deskjet...Gathering Printer Information, but that goes away after about a second and the printer is not the highlighted one in the dropdown. Like I said, I can print plugged in via USB and wirelessly through the HP webpages, but nothing else recognizes the printer properly. I have installed and uninstalled this printer several times and the same issue keeps happening. Please help!

OK, let's do a couple of things:
1. Repair Disk Permissions: in your Applictions > Utilities folder open Disk Utility. Click once on your Macintosh HD, the click the "Repair Disk Permissions" button along the bottom of the window.
2. Reset the printing system again:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

I understand that since upgrading your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to Mac OS X 10.10.4 you have been unable to print colour photos wirelessly from your HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this colour printing issue. To be honest, it does sound like Mac may have loaded the generic Apple Airprint driver on your printer rather then the HP Full Feature Software and Driver package. Should this be the case then you will only have basic print capabilities. Please follow the steps below to confirm that your HP Officejet is utilising the correct driver on your Mac.
1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences. 2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list. 3. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer.  4. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, 5. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that the Officejet driver is selected and not the Airprint driver.
  6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.  Once your printer has been installed with the correct HP driver, please test printing a colour photo to confirm that the issue has been resolved. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist there are additional software and driver troubleshooting steps I will have you perform. D110 solutioncenter 14 says disconected. same software prints test page on network

printer d110a all-in-one was setup perfectly, now 3 weeks later solution center says disconnected, yet same software open and choose toolbox and print test page. I go to printers in control panel and print test page. Solution Center see's it but selectively can't see it when its telling you status . new printer in January.

I am sorry to hear about your Officejet 8100e not installing properly on your Windows 8 PC. I would like to do my best to help you.
I understand you have updated the Firmware and uninstalled and reinstalled as well.
I am going to suggest these steps, in order:
Uninstalling the printer using this driver removal utility - Level 3
Restart you PC
Installing the printer using The Printer Install Wizard for Windows

I need to go to the next subsequent page and command to print current page; continuing with this procedure until all pages are printed one at a time. Can this be overcome?

You can use printPages(1, 5), however I need to know how you print current page.
