HP Photosmart & Printer Assistant

I have a laptop running Windows 8.1. I noticed I do not have Printer Assistant for the photosmart. I removed the printer and downloaded the driver again. It does show up after downloading, but then it disappears. When I double click the HP icon, I get a screen for connection options. I am usingthis computer wirelessly and my connection is working fine. I also downloaded driver and software for a new Deskjet 2540. No problems there. What should I do?

Hi Helen,
I am glad everything is working despite these couple of hiccups. Please try the following;
Look in:
c:\users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\
(it's a hidden folder - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/w...w-hidden-files)
For Monitor Ink Alerts - HP Photosmart 7520 series.lnk or anything HP printer related. Delete it.

HP Photosmart printer assistant will not run

When I am trying to run the assistant (the logo that looks like a picture of my printer) for my hp photosmart plus b210a, instead of running the control panel for this, it opens the "printer setup and software" options.
This means I am unable to view ink levels and activate or deactivate scan to computer.

Looks like the Printer assistant is not properly configured. In order to fix that you need to connect the Printer and complete the SW setup. If you are using Win 7 or Win 8, go to Device and Printers and double click on the Printer icon that should open the Printer assistant giving you access to all the options.

Hp Photosmart 6520 printer assistant error

I have the Photosmart 6520 printer setup on the ip address and running windows 8.1
When I run the printer assistant for scanning on the Windows side everything works fine
BUT when I do to the desktop option and then try and run the scanning option (using the printer assistant) it want to re-setup every time. I went on-line and downloaded the entire printer setup for windows 8.1 and still get the same error.
It was working fine and all of a sudden it started to happen and I have not loaded anything new lately.
Does anyone know how to fix it?

I understand your concerns. It seems like your printer software has a conflict. Please follow these steps to try and resolve your issue:
Please uninstall your software from the Control Panel of your computer. I will provide an HP document here, to help perform these steps.
Next, clean your Temp Folder on your computer. I will provide a YouTube video on performing this step here.
Before installing the software onto your computer, please follow this HP document on Using Microsoft System Configuration. Only perform Figure 2, Figure 3 and figure 4, but exclude number 5 in this document. Do not perform any further steps.
Now, install the full feature software from the CD or from the HP website here. Please choose your correct operating system; either 32 bit or 64 bit.
Afterward, perform step 5 in the "Using Microsoft System Configuration" document. This will enable the normal start up.
Please inform me your troubleshooting steps.

Printer assistant on photosmart 7520

The printer assistant on my photosmart 7520 will not work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no luck. Everything elso seems to work fine and it works fine on my wife's wireless laptop, but not on my desktop.

Lost "Printer Assistant" for Photosmart 7520 - Windows Home 7 - 64bit.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled software from online (with original disc, as recommended). Still lost.

Photosmart printer -all-in-one 5520 and windows 8.1 - INSTALLATION ERROR

I have a photosmart printer - model: all-in-one 5520; code number HPC57CC4 and my operating system is windows 8.1.
I had problems with the scan function and so I decided to disinstal the printer (from the Control Panel) and I even cancelled the HP folders.
Then I tried to reinstal the printer with the original CD but I got the message: INSTALLATION ERROR - DRIVER PACKAGE INSTALL GIVES THE ERROR -536870329 FOR THE PACKAGE C:\Program Files\HP\HP Photosmart 5520 series\DriverStore\Pipeline\hpvpl09.inf (that's the translation from Italian)
I have tried endless times to install with the online software from the HP assistance (hppsdr.exe, hppiw.exe, ps5520_1315-1.exe, hpscan and doctor) but I always get the above error message, the system recognizes my printer, but gives the error message few seconds after starting installing it.
If i use the printer from other PCs it's ok, I've also tried both in the wireless modality and with the USB cable but the result is the same: no installation!

I noticed that you are having trouble installing your HP Photosmart 5520 on Windows 8.1. I am happy to help you with this installation issue!
Please try the following solutions:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software. (In case any was partially installed).
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Make sure no antivirus programs are running. Turn Windows Defender on or off.
Make sure the firewall is disabled. Disabling the computer's firewall on a Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 computer.
Re-install using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

Printer Assistant quit working for my HP 5510 all-in-one B111a, Windows 7, IE 11

HP Printer Assistant for HP 5510-B111a all-in-one printer stopped working about 3 weeks ago. I have a Dell desktop I installed Oct-2013, running Windows 7 and IE 11 (maybe that was it?). The Printer Assistant shortcut is still there, but when I click on it, nothing happens. I have reinstalled software, both from the original CD, download from HP online, tried about 6 different tips from people online, and even restored my computer back to 3/25/14 and it still didn't work. It could possibly have been a day or two before that when it quit working and I'm not sure of the date I upgraded to IE 11. I have googled and found evidently there are many others out there with this same problem. I have the scan icon and can perform those functions, but the Printer Assistant let me check ink levels, perform trouble-shooting, clean print heads, print diagnostic reports, all of which I used, so essentially I have lost that functionality.

Thank you for providing screen shots, as this helps. No problem, I am here to help until I fix this issue for you.
For steps 1-5 are for a Hidden Administrator Account. The screen shot you provided is your account as Administrator. If the Command Prompt Windows had a message stating "The command completed successfully", then please access this new account (Step 5). You will have to log off the current account you're on right now. (Press the Start Menu> Bottom right you will see Shut down with an arrow> click on the arrow and select log off.)
Once you select log off, you can access this account called Administrator. Also, you can restart the computer, then you will have a option to select what account to log into.
When your in this new account, please click on the Photosmart 5510 printer icon and let me know if you're not able to access the Printer Assistant. I will be looking forward to hearing from you again!

I purchased a 7510 e photosmart printer this past August

can anyone help me as I am ready to scream with the service I am recieving with my new 7510 e photosmart printer, the first one I purchased from Staples in August on the 24th of this year but I had problems with it not recognising the photo tray, I called HP after a week of trying to get it to work but they blew me off so I tried to fix it myself for another 10 day's without any luck, by this time the 14 day return policy had run out at the store so I called HP again and this time they did try to help but could not get it to work so they sent out a refurbished one.
At first it worked great but now I cannot efax, I did reregister the second printer and got a new printer e.mail address. Cloud services pass me onto HP and HP passes me back to cloud services.
It prints, scans and prints off great pictures but I cannot fax with it, I only use the free efax service as I only need to fax once or twice a year and this was one of the reasons I bought this printer, but everyone keeps passing the buck on this issue.
To complicate matters I am not alway's at the address where the printer in question is, right now I am at my second home using a photosmart plus B209a-m printer that I purchased in 2010 so I can only phone them when I am in my other home where the printer is. I use windows 7 home edition , IE 9 and Norton Internet Security 2013, but that is not blocking me as I disabled it just to test it out, the printer is wireless but my desktop is not.
If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it as I am sick of HP and cloud services passing the buck.

I would like to assist but I need some more information. Can you log into your eFax account? If not do you get an error message trying to log in?

Free efax on 7520e photosmart printer

cannot get my 7520e photosmart printer to connect wireless, purchased it last year but was told they were working on a fix, after the fix it would not work at all, again phoned and was told the download fix made things worse and they were working on a patch to download.
Have not been back to my other home in almost a year so no idea if it is working or not, it would print ok but only via a USB cable.
Have the apps and free Efax been taken away from that aswell as I have a 7510e photosmart printer here but cannot send faxes even though my eFax number and address shows on the front of my printer
and in eprint settings.This one is connected wireless shared between a windows 7 64 bit desktop and a windows 8.1 64 bit desktop, both desktops are wired but to a wireless router.

I would like to assist in any way I can in an attempt to get the 7520 connected to your Wireless. Did I read correctly and you are not with that printer at this time?
Regarding the eFax and apps for the 7520, they are still active. However, the eFax is not free on the 7520, compatible with eFax and you will need to subscribe with eFax.
If you are not with the printer, will you be soon? Let me know the connection error, router brand, etc and I will see if I can help.

HP Printer Assistant won't open

Hi,
I have a HP Offficejet Pro 8600 Plus, and am using a windows 8.1 pc. I am trying to open the printer assistant so that I can scan and OCR. I used to be able to do this fine, but now I can't even start the Printer Assistant. I have tried reinstalling the full software, but that has no difference.
When I go to open the printer, nothing seems to happen, but when you look at the task manager, it shows hundreds of HP Printer Assistant processes. Eventually I get booted out of the session back to the windows user login.
I can print, and scan using HP AiO Remote app on the same machine. Scan doesn't allow for OCR.
No idea what started this behaviour, but would appreciate help to get it back to working.

I would like to make a suggestion that might help you with the Solution Center problem you're having.
I'd suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software and reinstalling the printer: HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver
Hopefully that will give you back the full software and driver package with all of the features to scan again.

Hp 7525 Photosmart printer won't scan to my PC but will scan to other PCs on the LAN. I tried to install the printer software but it says it is already installed. Do I have a security setting wrong?
Other PC names show up on the printer's touch screen but not mine. We are all on the same wireless subnet with the printer at a fixed IP address.
I can print from my PC and scan from my PC but I can't scan from the printer touchscreen to my PC.

You may have to start from your computer first:
    Double click printer icon on desktop,
    Select Manage Scan to Computer
    Click Enable -
    Restart your printer to see, is your machine in the list ?

HP Printer Assistant not working for HP Envy 120

Hi,
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 with a 64-bit operating system and I am experiencing an issue with the HP Printer Assistant, in that it will not open when I click on the desktop icon, nor when I go to the HP folder located in All Programs and select it from there.
My son's laptop, however, will open it without any problems at all. I have tried un-installing and re-installing the full feature software and drivers from the HP website, but that makes no difference whatsoever. The All-in-One device itself works fine; I can print from it and also use the scan icon in the HP folder in All Programs, but I prefer to use the Printer Assistant as it gives me many more options. The last time I ran it, it worked fine and that was only a couple of months ago.
I would appreciate any help, as this is starting to get frustrating and irritating; this is the first time that I have had any sort of trouble with an HP product and, hopefully, there will be someone out there who can solve this issue.

Officejet 4620 prints from HP Printer Assistant but shows as offline for normal print jobs

I just purchased an Officejet 4620 to use wirelessly on our home network -- we have two Thinkpads running Windows 7 64-bit. I followed the installation instructions and successfully printed out test pages using both the Printer Properties page in Windows and the HP Printer Assistant (which, by the way, shows that the printer is online and ready). However, when I try to print from any other program (Word, Chrome, etc.), after a moment or two I get an error message saying the printer is offline and asking if I want to cancel the print job. Yet when I check the online status, it again shows that it is online and I can, again, successfully print a test page.
What could possibly be causing this? It makes no sense to me.

Hi oyfpro,
The Xfinity router may need some tweaking.
Login to your router using the provided instructions by Xfinity and navigate to the wireless settings.
Change the channel to 11 or something less crowded.
Change the network encryption to WPA2 as it is the most secure and most reliable.
Last but not least, update the firmware on the Xfinity router to make sure it's fully up to date with everything.

How do I print a 4"x5" invitation on my HP Photosmart printer?

I have an HP Photosmart printer and have changed the printer settings to the custom size of the paper but it still prints my doc in the middle of the 8" paper width. It should be printing on the right side of the printer where rnvelopes and smaller sheets of paper can be trayed for the printer. I have tried to adjust every setting I know about in the printer settings. What next? My computer runs Windows 7.
