HP ProLiant ML10 E3-1220v2 1P 4GB-U B110i NHP SATA 1TB 300W PS Entry Svr/Promo

We recently purchased the above server for our office from an authorised HP Reseller - Lalani Infotech - Kolkata
To our utter surprise, the drivers and softwares did not come in a CD, as it was mentioned to download the same from HP websites...
And we were unable to find the appropriate drivers on HP Website for setup and installation of the HP Proliant Server models, as the sites say that this product is not being sold in India. Then how come the resellers sell this product in India?
Surprisingly the HP site is not even able to find this product online...and even the reseller do not respond to the emails.

  • [SOLVED] Console screen garbled installing to HP Proliant ML10 server

    Hi,
We have bought a new HP proliant ML10 for replacing the machine that is being used as the main server of our school and running debian-edu / skolelinux.
Considering the cutting edge software and etc benefits of arch, I'm planning to setup dual boot the main server with skolelinux for current use and arch alongside. I can experiment with arch in the time when no one uses the server/clients (night time). My plan is to setup arch to server diskless clients and do a migration from debian-edu / skolelinux. This seems ok to me from security standpoint as we used to have all MS win machines with no firewall at all before we migrated everything to linux a few months back.
    Now to the problem,
While using the latest dual USB arch install media, I do get an initial root console but it is looking diagonal and totally garbled, hard to read.
here is the lspci output obtained by booting the HP server as diskless from our old debian server

  • X200i with Segate Momentus XT 4GB Flash/500 GB SATA

Hi. I have just bought an Segate Momentus XT drive. I did an clean installation with Windows 7 64bit. It works perfectly. I were a little bit worried after reading the forums at Segate and sa all the problems people had. But the major od the users having problem seam to not have done an clean installation. The installation with worked smoth and the only problem i had were Intel PCI and INTEL turbo boost. I have an startup time of 11 seconds to the login screan and after I login im on the desktop imadatli. When I ad the drivers turbo boost Intel I had a black screan with blinking marker 10 sekunds before booting all the time. Seems to be hardware conflict so I uninstalled the feture again. Anyone else had problem with the Intel stuff like Ready Boost and PCI and SCSI drivers? Known issues?

I purchased the Seagate Momentus XT 750GB with a HD Caddy to add space to my Mac Book Pro 2011, 17", OS X 10.8 over the weekend.    I have been fighting it  all the way and have tried multiple things with no success.    Initially it stated it could not wirte the last block.    So I flowed a message board support and put it in my Windows Desktop and partitioned it and tryed it again but it could not initialize the disk.    So I built a small open SUSE box and repartitioned it and created an ext4 file system and tried it again...   no sucsses.   I finally got a hold of a SATA to USB dongle and Disk Utility found it created the FS and it was happy.    I moved a few GB of data accross to it with no issues.    I put in back into the hdd caddy and it fails to recognize it.   Just to veryify the caddy was ok I put in a 320GB drive and it worked like a champ.
So I am at a loss of what to try next.
I have seen other people saying that teh EFI driver was updated and many people Momentum disks failed to work after the upgrade.   Any advice would be helpful.    I really would like to use the disk.

  • Oracle 8i in Windows 2003 Server

    Hello,
I know I might be asking an OLD and stupid question. But a Customer of mine is still using Oracle 8i and wants to install it in the SERVER that I supplied recently.. Tried all possibilities to install but the installation doesn't complete in WINDOWS 2003 Server. Tried installing after SP2 update, but still shows ORA-04031 Error..
    The server is IBM X3100M4 Server | XEON 4C E3 1220V2 Processor | 4GB Memory | 2x500GB HDD..
All the hardware drivers are installed and working perfectly fine.. However while trying to install Oracle 8i it shows ORA-04031 error something related to Shared Memory. Can provide further details of error, if required.
If somebody encountered similar problems, Please help me out here.. !!
    Thanks in Advance.
    Hari.

    Hi Hari,
I also installed Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition in Windows Server 2003 on a IBM Server(which is lower model than you with 2GB RAM etc.) successfully and also installed it successfully on Windows Server 2000 on a much lower model of IBM server.
I worked with it for a long time without any problem.
So, don't be confuse. There may be other type of software/hardware problem with you, but sure this is not a compatibility problem i.e. Oracle 8i is good with Server 2000/2003.Until such time as it isn't. And running that combination will just about guarantee no support from Oracle when something goes wrong.
It's like IBM told us when COBOL-85 came out. We can continue to use the older compiler and everything will work exactly the same, until such time as it doesn't.

  • Garbage Collector Problems

Problem: The garbage collector on my server runs aprox every 1 min for
about 8 secs swamping the CPUs.
I started a not so big version of my "big server" using the following:
    JDK 1.4
    Windows NT 4.0
    Compaq Proliant with 4 CPUs @ 800Mhz
    4GB SDRAM
I am starting with the following parametrs:
    -mx1536m -verbose:gc -XX:-DisableExplicitGC -Xrs
On start up, my server creates a lot of objects that will live forever. Over
time any time period only a few objects (in comparison) are created that
will die young. I assume that I want a large older generation and a smaller
young generation. I need enoug room in my older generation for my older
objects plus room for the minor collections since they use copy collection.
The verbose gc trace shows the collector running ~every min. Here is a snip
    of the log:
    17:35:57 | [Full GC 245559K->245496K(441840K), 8.2943686 secs]
    17:36:35 | [Full GC 245577K->245507K(441840K), 8.2816641 secs]
    17:37:13 | [Full GC 245588K->245526K(441840K), 8.3754267 secs]
    17:37:52 | [Full GC 245617K->245554K(441840K), 8.2831863 secs]
    17:38:30 | [Full GC 245635K->245573K(441840K), 8.2977681 secs]
I let the server run and there were hundres of these with never a minor gc.
My analysis (Are my assumtions correct?)
    1. I do not see minor collections happening so I assume these full
collections are not caused by collection of the young generations.
    2. Since during my test run I know that no one is hitting my server, there
should not be and are not and significant memory changes that would require
a minor collection (which is why I don't see them).
    3. I am using Visobroker which, like RMI, may be making explicit gc calls.
To prevent this I tried calling -XX:+DisableExplicitGC yet the GC seems to
    wants to run every minuite.
    Is -XX:+DisableExplicitGC supported on JDK1.4 Win32?
Could something else be causing these Full GCs?
    -Chris

I have one other suggestion, but it is a long shot. The total size of your heap is around 440M and the total in use is very close to 60% of that value.
Since the JVM by default tries will consider increasing the heap size (up to -Xmx) when the free space falls below 40% AFTER GC, perhaps it is GC-ing periodically because of that. This sounds stupid since it should adjust heap size because of GC, but it is worth a try.
    You might consider this...
    java -Xms440m -Xmx1536m -Xminf0.1 -Xmaxf0.9 ...
This will mean that the heap will only expand when you have less than 10% free and will contract only when you have more than 90% free, but only to value of -Xms.
You also might consider -Xincgc as well, which should eliminate the 8-second pauses in favor of a more distributed gc load. Since you are alrready getting hit by >10% GC overhead, this may give you overall greater throughput as well, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Are you using the -server JVM? If not, I'd switch to that as well.
    Chuck

  • Can I install an additional hard drive to my Macbook Pro? (2 Hard drives)

I was wondering whether I could install a second hard drive to my 2011 Macbook Pro (2.0 GHz, 500GB HD 4GB Ram) making a total 1TB hard drive space?

There are third party solutions out there, however be warned they will most likely void any current warranty - as it involves removing your optical drive.   I don't have details on them myself, but when my apple care expires I might consider that on a Late 09 model and push it to dual SSD's

  • IMac shut down suddenly and won't boot back up

This morning my iMac shut down suddenly.  All I had open was Google Chrome and I was just on Facebook and that's it.  When I tried to boot it back up, it wouldn't load past the startup sound, wherein it would appear to shut back down,or at the very least the screen would go black (my mouse has lights that stay on when the computer is on, and the light kept going on and off while the screen remained black).  This was the case for at least a half hour until it suddenly booted itself back up all on its own.  I had it on throughout the day, just browsing the internet and watching Youtube. It shut itself down twice during the day, and both times it restarted on its own right away after showing me a grey screen with the Apple logo and a progress bar.  Now it just shut itself down again and it won't make it past the progress bar screen - if it even makes it that far, sometimes it shuts off right after it makes the startup sound.  It keeps trying to boot up on its own over and over again, but it keeps shutting down right away.  All the fixes I've searched for so far require a computer that actually boots up all the way so I don't think I could run any reports if I tried!
I'm running the latest version of Yosemite (10.10.2?).
    Model number A1311
Not entirely sure what specs are useful to know so I'm just gonna write some of what's on the box it came in:
    3.2 GHz Intel i3 processor, 4MBshared level 3 cache
    4GB of 1333MHz DDR SDRAM
    1TB serial ATA hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 5670 graphics processor with 512 MB of GDDR3 memory
Bought it around fall of 2010.  Not sure if it's worth trying to get it fixed (I live nowhere near an Apple store) or if I should just get a new computer, but I would like to know what's wrong, if possible.

Try to boot into the Recover Partition by holding down the Command + R keys on startup. If it still won't boot then the HD has probably crashed. The is likely a AASP in your area, you can locate one by clicking AASP Locator, take it to one to be professional diagnosed. If it's only the HD, assuming you have been backing up, restoring to a new HD is pretty simple.

  • New 27 iMAC keeps crashing iMovie and freezing videos on YouTube & Quicktime

We just got a new Sept 2013 iMac three days ago, purchased refurbished from the Apple Store online. The whole point of the purchase was to be able to use iMovie to thoroughly edit videos for our YouTube channel, use garage band, lots of internet surfing and video watching etc. We spent the extra dollars to get what we thought was the most improved version of the iMac with all the souped up specs in order to avoid any hassle and headaches from a lack of performance. Here's what we have:
    3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
27-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology; 2560-by-1440 resolution
    8GB (two 4GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM
1TB hard drive (We have only used 80 GBs of it so far, so plenty of space left)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M graphics processor with 2GB of GDDR5 memory
    720p Camera & Mic
    OS X 10.9
We're feeling a bit duped now as this seems to have turned out to just be a big expensive piece of junk. Here are our problems:
    - Firstly, thank goodness that we had our own Logitech HD camera/mic left over from our PC because the "HD camera" built in to the iMac is worse in quality than my old blackberry curve. Grainy, lack luster, mic has sharp and distant sound, really really bad and false advertisement.
    - In the middle of using iMovie (iMac came preinstalled with the newest one, i think its 10?), it will stop responding properly or will crash and close, we wont even have any other programs running.
    - When opening Quicktime to record a new video, in the middle of a recording or while the recording window is idle, it will start glitching - flashing between live footage and a freeze frame repeatedly. The only way to stop it is to quit out Quicktime and open again and try to record quickly, or in some cases we have to completely restart the iMac, which then still randomly in the middle of a recording or idle window it will continue to flash and glitch. (You can view an example here in the last minute of one of our videos, we tried to make it work and kept the take since we were doing our outro music dance, but it totally ***** when this happens randomly during our content portion and we have to redo recording. http://youtu.be/MAJzaEShJGw?t=4m34s )
    - When watching YouTube videos, the computer takes a while to respond to a command, like if we click on a certain part of the video, it will not load it until we press the pause/play button a few times and wait. Also at the beginning of a video it will start glitching and freezing again, similar to how we explained above in the quicktime, but faster.
If you are familiar with what could be the problem or have any advice, PLEASE HELP, we are concerned that after dropping so much money within just 3 days of use, this iMac is not performing flawlessly in the areas that we most needed and want to know if these issues are common and fixable or if its a defect that would require we send this thing back immediately. We did not get apple care and would hate to have wasted money that we really dont have on a glitchy crashing huge piece of junk.
Want to mention a few other pros and cons unrelated to our issues, for those who may be considering buying one too:
    PROS:
    - The Magic mouse is really great, particularly because of the scrolling and zooming gestures. (Though sometimes i accidentaly swipe in a browser and go back to a previous page losing any information that was input on the page i was originally on, for example, i had to retype this whole apple imac inquiry because i swiped backwards by mistake and the whole form cleared! annoying, wish the horizontal swipe navigated between tabs instead of going through the page view history.)
    - When the imovie is not crashing, after watching some tutorials and making a few vids, its a really greatly improved program from the '09 version we used to use. I import and edit videos much faster now, and footage does not freeze or take time to load while im dragging and dropping, it is immediately responsive.
    - Love using the Talk to text function (like Siri) by pressing "fn" twice. Use this to write long emails and papers with ease. Would like to see a "Speak" read back option that allows for text to be selected and read back (like Siri on iPad)
    CONS:
    - The text is SO small everywhere and there is no option to exactly set text size across the whole system, only option given is to set a different resolution which lessens the quality of the screen with pixelation, and some programs give you the option to set custom sized text in their individual preferences.
    - Sometimes in both iMovie & Garageband, simple automated functionality will stop working, for example in iMove, when certain screens or images are dragged and dropped to the work area by the activity bar (i dont know what else to call it, the line that rolls across during playback or stays put when pressing spacebar) usually, that screen or image will click into place to align with the activity bar and will highlight the bar yellow to further communicate that alignment before you drop it, but after extended use in a session, that snapping into alignment when adding items stops working. Or sometimes you can drag and drop the ends of a title screen to adjust/trim the clip, but after extended time that too stops responding and does not let the cursor turn into that arrow that allows you to trim or extend, until after many frustrated clicks or a quit and restart.
    - When sharing/exporting a video from iMovie, i would recommend unchecking the add to theatre option because it significantly extends the amount of time needed to complete the action and i found out the theatre is just like a video stream of your movies to be shared on icloud for easy access from your other devices (similar to the icloud photostream connected to iPhoto). It takes the time to make the video readily availabe in various sizes on the Mac server for easy access, which means it takes forever for your video to be exported to where you actually want it. This is not something we need and is not worth the wait time. (For example, last ime we left the theatre box checked, the progress status of the video was estimated to be completed in 351 minutes, and then 20 minutes later that somehow inclreased to 385 minutes, then duddenly it was done, so i think this add to theatre option also cause the progress status updates to go berzerk.)

Given the maximum RAM that model can use is 32GB, and the earlier release of that 27" mid-2013 iMac is nearly the same in most regards, you may note the listing of this slightly older iMac 27" is here in an Apple support document...
•iMac: How to remove or install memory:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1423
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1423#1
The images of where the RAM chips are located, behind a metal plate, should be similar in your iMac and the mid-2013 iMac 27" shown in images on that page. Note there are several models discussed.
You could take the computer to a certified Apple service facility (retail store, or specialist reseller) and pay them to do this, and buy the RAM from them, and you will pay for this at a retail level. If they do it, you'd want to be assured the computer did all the things you sought to cure by upgrading RAM, correctly without fault. Like run tests and stuff.... Or there's no reason to not go ahead (after confirming from Apple) that you could buy quality RAM and do this job yourself, citing the Apple page link I'd posted above.
    Contact Apple Support:
    http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
You'd have to obtain the correct RAM (as indicated in my earlier post, citing MacTracker) of suitable quality for use in a Macintosh computer, and the recommendation for a DIY is to get the kit from 'Other World Computing' OWC online at their site. You can talk to knowledgable sales staff at OWC about what you have and what you need, and to help they may ask for the product serial number.
This is OWC and they have the spec RAM required for your iMac 27" model; double-check info:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac/2012_27/DDR3L
Since yours is an Apple Refurbished model it will have a different number series. Unlike those in a retail store, because Apple does that to tell what ones they refurbished; refurbs I bought online were like that.
With questions during the first three months, you can get 'support' under the initial 90-day span of ownership of the new (and certified) Apple refurbs bought online; the other part of that is 'service' for 1 year. Call a nearest retail Apple Store, to set a genius appointment; or go online, and start the process of reporting your issue, while you still have some kind of warranty on the device. They can diagnose the issues you cite and tell you if you can upgrade the RAM (as you likely can) then you can buy and install the RAM yourself and probably pay less than 1/2 the retail rate, if you get some from OWC. A diagnosis is free if the Genius looks into it, but you'd need to set an appointment & lug the iMac to their store; protected from weather/shock.
If you want to extend the complementary service to three years (less the included 90-days) and add two years of AppleCare service, that is an affordable option of about $170. For a total of three years coverage.
    {If you had a 21.5-inch iMac the RAM would require a service department visit where they use a different method to install the RAM upgrade. Those are built differently than the 27-inch iMac.}
There is a bit of detailed important information in the Apple link on how to upgrade the iMac RAM. There is a certain amount of RAM installed already and these chips would likely be removed if you get matching sets of new RAM to upgrade the capacity. And no matter what some say, there is a reason why they can be upgraded with more. Even with Mavericks OS X 10.9.x and its 'memory compression' etc, it would gladly accept all the RAM upgrade chips it could swallow. (Behind metal screen, mid-bottom iMac 27")
You may need to consider questions about applications that use system resources separate from those about whatever issues your iMac seems to exhibit. There may be some other cause of the video and iMovie symptoms, but more RAM won't hurt given the beast you bought can use 32GB and it has 8.
And if it seems too much to handle, you have 14 days from date of
purchase to take it back. Contact them ahead of then, if you do.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Noob needs help: Macbook RAM/storage upgrade advice

Firstly, let me apologize in advance for my ignorance in this subject area!  I'm a complete noob!
    Here goes:
I have a MacBook 7,1 (MC516LL/A) with all original, factory components, and since I've upgraded to OS X 10.7.5, it's been running incredibly S...L...O...W... which is incredibly annoying to me:P
Out of the 250GB's of HD storage, I have about 91 free.  From my previous experience with mac notebooks, I know that I am going to need to get some more hard drive space, soon (my last iBook turned to complete crap, once I got down to 20 gigs of available memory).
I see that I can upgrade the RAM from two, 1GB sticks to two, 4GB sticks.  From the limited research I've done, I'm under the impression that only the boot-up speed will increase slightly (please correct me if any of this is wrong).
I've also been reading about Solid State Drives, found some reasonably priced ones on crucial.com, and they look/sound AWESOME!  Aaaaaand the reality is that I really have no idea what I truly need.  I'm a single mom and a college student, so I'm looking for an upgrade option in the $200-300 range, *and* I'm not into graphic design, web design, or anything that requires top of the line equipment.
My macbook is practically glued to my hands 24/7, so I just want it to run FASTER, and I need more storage.  I don't know if this info is pertinent or helps, but outside of studying (all done with ebooks and online websites), I like to download a lot of music, watch videos, upload family pictures, browse the interwebz, etc., etc.
What can I do to improve speed and expand storage capacity?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Hello! I own a mid-2010 MacBook (a.k.a MacBook 7,1) running OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion, which I use for school, and I had the exact same issues with my MacBook, before I upgraded it. I had almost filled up my MacBook's HDD and my computer's RAM was insufficient to perform any of my day-to-day tasks with ease. I upgraded the RAM from two sticks of 1GB (the factory-installed configuration) to one stick of 4GB, and I installed a 1TB HDD in place of the original 250GB HDD (my requirements were slightly different from what yours seem to be). Currently, my MacBook is a lot less laggy than it used to be (even with a HDD that's four times larger in terms of capacity installed), but it still takes a long time to start up and perform certain tasks. Therefore, from my experience, I would recommend that you do the following:
    1. Get two sticks of 2GB (2x2GB) of RAM, not one stick of 4GB (1x4GB). Even though the latter will probably be considerably cheaper than the former, I think it's worth the few extra dollars to get the former because it's much faster than the latter. You shouldn't go for anything more than 4GB of RAM in total, because it'll overload your MacBook. Trust me, that's not something you want to have to deal with!
    2. Get a 500GB or 512GB SSD, not a larger HDD. In hindsight, I don't think I even needed anything close to 1TB. I only purchased my huge HDD because it was on offer, and it was being sold (believe it or not) for less than a 500GB HDD. But if you're looking for speed, an HDD is not the way to go; they're much, much slower than SSDs, even though they're much cheaper.
You should see an exponential increase in the speed of your MacBook. You might want to try the following websites; they offer high-quality, affordable components and I've known people (including myself) who have used their products before.
    1. Other World Computing - http://www.macsales.com
    2. Crucial (of course) - http://www.crucial.com

    7. Kingston - http://www.kingston.com/us/

Good luck speeding your MacBook up, and I hope this helped!

  • How to get 10.6 calendar out of Time Machine after a clean install of 10.8

I recently did a clean install of Mountain Lion on my 2007 2.2GHz Intel, 4GB RAM with 120GB SATA Disk.  First, I backed up all of my files in a 1 terabyte WD external harddrive using Time Machine on Oct. 26; as I used my MacBook Pro during the week Time Machine continued to back up my files as I kept it connected to my laptop.
On November 1st I disconnected the WDHD and initiated the clean install.  Using a Jonathan Morrison video on YouTube I erased all of my files on Snow Leopard and installed Mountain Lion.  (I only want to import certain data back into my laptop at to keep it free from choking on files and programs that I never or rarely use; I only use it for writing and the calendar and misc: no pictures or movies: I am trying to be gentle with it because of its age.) For the next 9 days I backed up all of my Word docs and files in various cloud storage.
On November 10th I connected the WDHD again and Time Machine did its backups; as I worked I assumed that iCloud and iTunes was taking care of the internal syncing, of my calendar and notebook, contacts et. al, as I merely connected my phone, signed in to iCloud and opened iTunes and clicked SYNC. After the syncs, I opened Calendar and found none of my events; Notes, likewise, had only 7 notes: on my phone are over 40.
I began research online and found that the majority of post and responses to the question of retrieving this type of data (Calendar, Notes) was best accomplished by using Time Machine.
    http://chasingaftermoonbeams.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/restoring-lost-ical-events-a nd.html
This blog informed me that if I turn off my wifi and erase certain files, I can then restore my calendar from my Time Machine back up.  The only problem is that my Time Machine, while it is in the "Star Wars" mode will not let me access anything beyond November 10th.  I went into my Time Machine user files to access my calender files - and they are there -  and discovered that my old 10.6 drive is separate from my new 10.8 drive.  I did a bit of research and found an article on that subject:
    http://creativetechs.com/tipsblog/access-files-from-other-time-machine-backups/
This article informed me that one can browse other disks in Time Machine.
The only problem with this solution, for me, was that my new 10.8 drive was the only drive available to choose in the Time Machine "Choose Time Machine Disk To Browse" dialog box.
My question is this: How do I retrieve the 10.6 Snow Leopard OS X Calendar files (pre-November 10th) from Time Machine and install them on the 10.8 Mountain Lion OS X Calendar?

I recently used Migration Assistant to migrate the calendar folders but that only created another user; after I deleted that user I attempted to drag the folders to my desktop but recieved a prompt that I did not have permission to do this.  If anyone has any ideas on this problem I would very much appriciate any advice that might assist me in understanding the concatenating process of what I am attempting to do.  It has been quite curious and vexing.

  • CS5 apps crash during launch in XP

    Hi,
I just bought and installed CS5 Design Premium and can't get it to work, including Photoshop.  Most of the apps crash.  They crash during launch (splash screen) and therefore never get going.  Each app seems to display different error messages.  One common denominator seems to be something relating to scripting (not sure what that implies - plug-ins?).  The only CS5 apps that don't crash are Bridge and Media Encoder.
Upgrading to 12.01 didn't help.  I tried rebooting, uninstalling and re-installing.  I ran a system scan with Windows Defender and no malicious software was detected.  I run a very clean system so no unusual programs running in the background and what little I do run in the background, I exited from.  I hadn't run a previous version of Photoshop (or any other program in CS5) so there were no Photoshop plug-ins to uninstall.
I do have Lightroom 3 installed (huge image database), which I have not yet uninstalled (far from trivial IMHO).  Lightroom does have three plug-ins (all disabled) which are the Canon and Nikon Tether Plug-ins and a Flickr plug-in.  I don't know how to uninstall these or whether it would affect CS5.
As an example, when I launch Photoshop, I get the following error:
    AppName: photoshop.exe     AppVer: 12.0.1.0     ModName: scriptingsupport.8li ModVer: 10.0.0.0     Offset: 000d183a
InDesign fails as it says "updating Panels" and I get:
AppName: indesign.exe     AppVer: 7.0.0.355     ModName: support for javascript.rpln
    ModVer: 7.0.0.355     Offset: 00036183
    System Specs:
    3.4GHz P4, 4GB PC6400, 1.5TB SATA, Nvidia GeForce 6600 PCIe, Asus P5WD2-e Motherboard, XP Pro SP2
    I run Flash 10.1.53.64 and Quicktime 7.6.6, Java 6.0.2
When I launch Illustrator, it used to crash hard but now it stops while loading (Initializing Plug-ins, PDFFormat.aip) and displays a custom error dialog saying "Error loading plugins.  AISaveForWeb.aip DxfDwg.aip PGNFileFormat.aip.  Eventually it launches, apparently functional (haven't tested it).
    Any help appreciated, thanks!

Corporate users are often very conservative, as many needs must be met before a new system can be rolled-out.  The reasons for being so conservative are rooted in good business, and in many cases are quite justifiable.
I have a friend who works IT at a railroad company, and he regularly has to support Windows 2000 machines amongst the majority of their systems, which are XP.  He tells me what he and a whole team of people struggle with every day.  I've been there.  I administered systems for entire Engineering departments myself.  One of the things I ALWAYS made time for, however, was breaking in new systems and getting to know them.  As a result, our people always had near state-of-the-art systems to work with.  It was even a selling point when our managers interviewed someone sharp who they were trying to get to accept an offer:  Our work environment was second to none.
In recent times we are starting to see why staying with an ancient operating system instead of "biting the bullet" and moving up to modern technology is proving to be more and more expensive.
Brushing aside Vista - for a while - might have been justifiable, but...
Hours and hours to make something work on XP?  New roll-outs of XP systems?  In 2010?  Are you kidding?
All that time being wasted to get old things working could and should be spent on embracing the new, and figuring out how to make it sing on key.  People have now gone before you and can authoritatively state that Windows 7 can be made to work.  A darned sight better than its predecessors in many ways!
    Time is money.

  • Download Error in CC Apps Tab

Why is it that when I go to the Apps tab in the CC app, I see a message saying "Download Error"? My internet is fine, and other portions of the CC app that use the internet work fine. Any ideas?

    Antivirus: none.
Has this worked before: Yes, many times.
Changes: I was on a trip and using another computer. This only started happening when I rebooted my home computer (a Mid-2011 21.5'' iMac, 500GB internal SATA disk) and synced all of my files from the CC storage online.
Admin account: Yes, I am using an administrator account.
What was I doing: Nothing else, at the time. This was the first thing I tried (don't ask why).
Other software: Yoink, Memory Clean, Dropbox, Skitch, Found, Google Drive, G-Key Profiler, Skydrive, Evernote, Google Chrome (running at the time of this problem).
