HP Recovery - Second CD not detecting

I am recovering HP G60 laptop with Vista Home Premium SP1 CD. During recovery, first CD is working fine but when it ask for second CD, it is not detecting second CD.
I ordered new CD from HP but getting the same issue. I tried the same thing couple of times but no success.
Any idea?

Hi:
If you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the bottom of your notebook, you can make your own Vista installation disk.
Here's how:
If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC.
Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated.
When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
I selected No, make the ISO file.
It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
I tested both of them an my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly.
When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.

After you successfully install Vista, you can then install the drivers from your PC's support and driver page.

  • Dv9810us after recovery windows will not detect the wireless card that is bulit into the computer.

After running the recovery (Vista 32) from the recovery partition my computer no longer sees the Wifi card installed.
There is nothing in device manager, the hp wireless wizard doesn't detect anything. I went to HP's site and download the 3 different wifi drivers that it would be and installed them. I can not rememeber what the adapter was.,. thats a problem.
This system was a refurbed unit when I bought it, if the salesman was correct it was recalled because of a faulty Wireless card. I wonder if they replaced the card with one that the restore partition installation could not detect.
    Any ideas?

first make sure the wifi is turned on either by a switch located on the front of keyboard or a soft touch icon near the display.. if you have the soft touch make sure it's blue in color if its orange its turned off

  • IPod Touch stuck in recovery mode and not detected in iTunes

I was trying to update my iPod Touch (currently 3.1.3), so I downloaded the 4.3.3 firmware (I didn't want to download the 4.3.5) and connected my iPod to my computer, opened iTunes and hit Shift+Restore. Then, I chose the 4.3.3 firmware and proceeded with the restore.
    However, the following appears:
    Error 1602
I pressed OK and the restore process stopped. But, my iPod is stuck in recovery mode. Every time I reboot it, the recovery mode shows up. It's also not detected in iTunes although my computer recognize it as iPod Touch Recovery Mode.
Please help me solve this. I can't use my iPod.

Error 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.

Also, when updating/restoring an iDevice, iTunes contactact the Apple sever to verify that you have the latest iOS version.  If not, it will not allow an install if an earlier version.

  • L520 second HDD not detected by BIOS, why?

    Hi everybody
It appears Schalli and I have same problem: a second hard drive (inserted in an aftermarket caddy) is not detected by BIOS. So you can not boot from 2nd hard drive.
But, if you start the OS (Windows or Linux or even DOS!), the second HDD is seen and works perfectly (no connection issues, full speed etc).
I tried several HDD, also SSD. Also tried removing internal HDD, leaving only HDD in the caddy.
    BIOS is 1.20.
    Can other users please verify?
Lenovo: why is this? Why doesn't BIOS detect the second hard drive?
    Thanks!!!

Same with my machine. So I put my SSD into the original drive bay and moved my HD to my caddy.

  • Second computer not detecting network

    Hi!
This week I bought a new WRT54G v8.1. After updating the firmware, I was able to set up the network using LELA. However, I've tried adding the second computer to the network and haven't been able to get it to work.
The second computer has a wireless USB adaptor (also Linksys) to receive the signal. It detects other networks in the general vicinity (such as my neighbors'), but not my router. The WLAN light on the router connected to computer #1 flashes rapidly when computer #1 wakes up or is restarted. It then slows until it blinks only once every 10 seconds or so. I've copied the "LinksysConnectPC" setup program to a flash drive, per the LELA directions, and transferred it to computer #2. However, when I run this program, there is a "Checking the computer..." message displayed for several minutes. At first, this message was displayed for only 1 or 2 minutes. After subsequent tries, this message was displayed for closer to ten minutes. After this period of waiting, the message, "EasyLink Advisor could not establish a wireless connection to the router", is displayed.
Computer #1 uses Windows XP. Computer #2 uses Windows Vista. The router is set to channel 1. The USB adaptor is set to channels 1-11 in Device Manager. SSID broadcast is set to "enabled". The security mode is set to WEP.
    What should I do?

First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router.   Verify that "SSID Broadcast" is set to "enabled".
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use.  Delete your current network (this will delete any old settings).  Reboot computer.  Return to "Preferred Networks" and re-enter your current network info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".  Reboot computer.  You should connect automatically.  If you still have a problem, temporarily turn off your computer's software firewall.
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.
Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching from WEP to WPA encryption.   Ideally, you should be using WPA2, or at least WPA encryption with a strong password.  WEP is no longer recommended.
If you decide to go with WPA2 ( = WPA with AES ), note that Windows XP requires a patch to run WPA2. Go to Microsoft Knowledge base, article ID=917021 and it will direct you to the patch.
Sadly, the patch is not part of the automatic Windows XP updates, so lots of people are missing the patch.

  • Mavericks Second monitor not detected after wakeup from sleep

    Hi everybody,
seems like my problem is getting worse after updating to the latest Mavericks (10.9.5), but the general problem came up with upgrading to Mavericks.
I have two monitors connectet to my 3,1 MacPro with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB, which worked without any problems for years (since SnowLeopard).
After upgrading to Mavericks the Mac started loosing the connection to the second monitor after waking up from sleep.
At first only sporadically and then coming up more often. Some Google search showed that I wasn't alone with this problem. When I first started to find a solution for this, some of the workarounds others recommended seemed to help like resetting the PRAM, choosing another resolution with pressed alt button etc. but over time nothing really solved the problem. I only had a chance to get back my second monitor whenever the problem ocurred. Today none of these procedures seem to help, so I give it a shot with this post...maybe someone has a real solution for this (or at least can confirm exactly the same problem so that I can rule out some other reason than a buggy Mavericks?!?).
What I can rule out from trying different setups:
    - It is not a problem of monitor brand (no NEC, both same model Xerox brand) nor size (both same resolution and 22")
    - it is not a problem of connections and cables (switching the pluging switches the problem to the other monitor)
-> which brings me to the idea that the problem occurs with just one of the graphic cards ports. But since I have no other card available I'd like to rule out software problems before buying new hardware!
    - The problem comes up only when waking up from sleep (immediately trying to reboot after the problem has ocurred brings no solution, the secon monitor stays undetected). Shutting down the Mac and booting up after a while (no specific time, but at least a couple of minutes) brings up both monitors perfectly.
    - The monitrs try to get through to the Mac: when switching off the undetected monitor manually and switching it on again, it displays: No signal, going to sleep
Hope there is some help around here...this is really getting annoying!
    Yours,
    Ray

The weird thing is that every morning, when I move my mouse to wake the computer, both displays go from black to show the desktop but the second display immediately goes back to black. Unplugging it and plugging it back in eventually works after multiple trys. Restarting the computer sometimes works but not always.
The only other major change to my computer before this started happening is that I installed Leopard.
So far I've tried setting my Macbook Pro not to go to sleep but that didn't change anything.
Should I try setting my displays not to go to sleep either? I haven't tried that because Energy Saver warned me that it could reduce the lifespan of the display.

  • Second monitor not detected anymore(SOLVED)

I managed to get it working again but i can't get the resolution higher then 640x480, It should be 1920x1080
    edit:
I had to unplug my monitor and reboot. Then i pluged it back in and used gksu/kdesu nvidia-settings and got a resolution of 640x480.After that i just had to reboot again and everything was back to normal.
Also ,the files that were missing from my /home/user/ where easily replaced from the /etc/skel directory and any others that were missing like my .rtorrent.rc just had to be re-downloaded and configured again.

  • Ipad 2 not detected in recovery mode on my ASUS Windows 7 laptop

I have had this issue on all my idevices since I got this laptop, so this isn't directly associated with the new update.
I can sync my idevices with itunes on my laptop without any issues, but every time I try to install an iOS update, when it get to the stage where it is "preparing to restore your device" or some such, the laptop installs a new device driver and then itunes just spins awhile until it finally spits out error 1601 and then the device is stuck on the screen where it prompts you to connect to itunes.
At this point itunes on my laptop will not detect the device.  I can see it listed in my device manager and it claims the usb driver is working correctly, however it no longer makes the beeping sound when I plug or unplug the cable, though it does disappear and reappear in device manager, which indicates it recognizes ipad plugged in, but not in the same way.
I have tried all the advice on the apple website re: unintalling reinstalling itunes an all it's components, disabling antivrus, firewall and non essential services, removing usb devices etc to no avail.
If I take my device over to my parents 32 bit vista desktop it recognizes it, installs the driver and itunes recognizes an ipad in recovery mode and I was able to restore the software and update to the new iOS on that desktop, then had to bring it back to my laptop to restore the software from my last backup.
My first question is....when the new ios is being installed is it putting the device into recovery mode as part of the process or is it going into recovery mode because the process errors out?  If it's the former, then my assumption is that the whole issue is that for some reason something on my laptop is stopping itunes from being able to recognize my ipad while in recovery mode.  If the later, then ?
My second question is....is the problem the driver, the usb port or something else unique to the laptop?  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but if i let winows detect it after uninstalling it can't find a driver and i get the exclamation point.  If i try to manually install per the apple instructions, it tells me that the driver file is not compatiable with my device.  So either windows is somehow installing the wrong driver while device is in recovery or the comp isn't detecting what type of device it is properly or ?
I'm hoping maybe i can get the next os update over the cloud and this will become a non-issue, but having to go borrow a pc to update this thing gets really old as the laptop is my only computer, so any ideas would be appreciated.
Laptop is an ASUS ROG - not sure the exact model running 64 bit Windows 7  It has two usb ports and i have the same issue on either one.
The PC i successfully updated my device on is an older Dell running a 32 bit version of Vista

Hopefully this will help you.  Try placing your iPad in recovery mode again.  You may have to try this a few times.

  • HT1212 I have forgotten my passcode for ipad and itunes is not "detecting a device in recovery mode."

I have forgotten my passcode for ipad and itunes is asking passcode to be entered - even after following directions for computers not synced... multiple times, but iTunes is not "detecting a device in recovery mode."  What do I do now?

    DFU Restore
This will very likley result in loss of data.
Plug the iPhone into the computer.
Ensure that it is running the latest version of iTunes and that it has access to the internet.
Press and hold both the home and sleep/wake buttons for exactly eight seconds.
Release only the sleep/wake button but continue to hold the home button for another five seconds.
Let go of the home button, then look at the computer screen for an instructional popup.
The popup should say "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode. . .(etc)"  Click accept to all boxes and let iTunes download and install all of the latest device Firmware and Software.
If no popup appears, repeat the above DFU instructions.  If you've never done a DFU, it may take about three attempts to get the timing right.

  • Recovery partition Exists, but not detected.

New here and I reset my computer reguarly. This is the second time doing it on my Sattilite C855-S5132NR Running 8. While going through the options and steps to factory restore I came across an issue. The recovery system could not find the image. But looking at the partitions on the computer I can see recovery partion is healthy and the file structure inside is still good. I tried again grabbing HDD drivers from the toshiba website and using advance settings to force it to read the partition. Its partucuarly frustrating that when i browse the file structure for the driver, I can also browse through the recovery partition. The HDD in entirety is healthy the computer for the most part clean and in good health. As far as i can tell this is a rediculous issue. Does anyone know of a way to force the detection of the recovery partition and save me some time and money?

The system recovery option means that there appears to be corruption or another issue with the recoveryt partition.
Since that is the case, then you will need to use the recovery media (USB or disk set) you have already created to effect the recovery.
If you did not create recovery media, you will need to order a usb recovery flash drive (preferred) or a recovery disk set from HP or an HP partner. The cost is usually around $30.00 USD

  • My Mac Pro (2006) with NVidia GeForce 8800 GT is not detecting a second display.  What can I do?

My Mac Pro w/ NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT does not detect a second display from the System Preferences / Displays.  Even though I select the "Detect Displays" button, nothing happens.  I also have Bootcamp and Windows 7 in a partition on my drive.  When I operate with Windows 7, there is no problem detecting both of my displays.  However, when I operate with Windows 7, there is no sound signal sent from my sound card.  When I switch back to the OS X then I get a sound feed from the sound card, but then it will not detect more than one monitor.  I'm ready to pull out my hair.  Anyone have suggestions?

  • [win 8] itunes not detecting iphone in DFU mode for restore/recovery

    Here is the story:
Had my iphone 6 plus for about a month now. Today I hooked it up to my windows 8 machine and itunes (both fully updated to latest versions).
Phone was detected fine, so I ran a full sync and backup to my local machine with itunes. No problem its all good.
Then went to the updates section and it said I had a new one (8.1.2 or whatever I cant remember)
I ran it, in itunes while the device was connected.
It downloaded and was going through the install process... then the screen on my phone went to the "connecting to itunes" graphic (with the cord and the itunes app icon). Thats where it sat.
So now it no longer appeared as a device in itunes either.
    OK... went to the forums.
    1) Tried all the reboots and uninstalls/reinstalls
    2) Tried booting and connecting in "Recovery mode" (default now as all I see is that connecting screen)
    3) Tried booting and connecting in DFU mode
Neither mode was detecting the device with itunes but I am getting the chimes of connection for windows itself.
I do see the device in my windows system hardware under "unspecified" as "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" (and when i view details its model shows either Recovery or DFU mode depending on how I booted the device)
So here I am... stuck with a phone in either DFU mode OR recovery mode on a botched ios update and itunes wont detect it on windows 8.x
    What can I do ?
Looking for some creative or outside the box ideas here. I just want a reset and restore of the backup I made on local itunes today.
If I can get the device back to even a factory reset, I am hoping itunes will detect it properly and can run a restore from it local storage.
Really stuck and been on this for hours now.

    Hello joeldevil,
I know you have tried uninstalling and a reinstall of iTunes, but have you checked out the additional troubleshooting steps to check the drivers to make sure that they are installed. There is also a section for what to do when your iPhone is in recovery mode and not seen in iTunes. One more thing you can try is to try your restore in another user.

  • TM - External Disk Drive Not Detected in Recovery Mode

    Hello Apple Lovers,
I am using the My Passport for Mac 500GB disk drive with time machine on my MacBook Air to create data backups.
I checked the disk for any corruption using Disk Utility. No issues were found. I find the disk works excellantly in terms of creating backups and restoring them inside time machine.
I cannot detect my external disk for restoring entire images of the OSx in recovery mode. For some reason, TM will not detect my backup disk in the recovery mode. I use the WD Security software on my disk to lock it, however, never before has the security lock posed any problem to me. I used to see a prompt appear for me to unlock the drive in recovery mode on attempting to access the TM backups.
Please take your time in replying to my post. I recovered my entire system last week and restored all the data using TM's twlight view. No rush! I successfully created a backup of my fresh OSx Mavericks on the MacBook Air with all the data restored using TM. I only wanted to troubleshoot this issue in case something occurs in the future that may require me to restore data using TM in recovery mode.
I browsed extensively through many of the discussions covering Time Machine. None mentioned my particular dilemma. Any assistance would be a valuable controbution not only to me, but other Apple users who may purchase My Passport for Mac drives and encounter a similiar problem.

You will need to avoid using third party software if you hope to access the disk and data in recovery mode.
If the WD software encrypts your data recovery mode will need a way to decrypt it. Recovery mode is a 'reduced mode' that only runs Apple software (not third party software) so the WD drivers that decrypt the disk will not be installed & Disk Utility or Migration Assistant will not be able to open the data on the disk.
There have been long threads that make me steer clear of using ANY Western Digital drive software with 10.9.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5475136?start=0&tstart=0
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6202 <- WD had to remove software from Macs because it ruined peoples data on 10.9.
There are other threads on WD disk tools causing errors on 10.9, external hard disks do not require the use of additional software on OS X - these apps & drivers are mostly junk that is not a good idea to install.
If you really want to protect your data with encryption the features are already built in to OS X, it's called Filevault. It will encrypt your internal HD & your Time Machine backups (when the OS is encrypted). It works with Apple tools & doesn't rely on any third party drivers.
You will need to disable the 'WD security lock' and make sure the disk works without the WD software if you hope to have any chance of reading it in recovery mode.
