HP Touchpad Blown Speaker

Not very promising that the left speaker dies only two days in. Has anyone else experienced any speaker failures?

My speakers have completely stopped working. All the settings are "On" for sound. Maxed volume, and everything is not Muted.  I just purchased this from Best Buy less then a week ago, but they are not taking any returns. What do you suggest I do?
Are your speakers truly "blown", or have you simply lost sound overnight like many of us?
Reboot the touchpad.  Device info/Reset options/Restart.

  • Do i have a blown speaker internally? only getting mono sound..

when i got home today i put on itunes and when to listen to a song with my headphones plugged in... only to find i'm only getting sound out of the left ear! initial reaction is that my headphones are broke, which i wouldnt have been too choked about. but i plugged it into external computer speakers and sound only comes out of the left speaker which means its definitley the computer.. i've done the whole test in preferences and i only get fuzz out of the right ear. is this a blown internal speaker or something? how should i fix it or get it fixed, there is no apple store around where i am. i'd appreciate some help as i am a musician and i bought the macbook to record with logic.. i can't really do it with only the left side
    thanks

Well if the issue is apparent when you're using headphones, it's extremely unlikely that a failure of the internal speakers would be the cause.
Check in System Preferences and make sure that the stereo balance slider is centered (seems obvious, but I've been caught out by this more than once.)

  • Blown Speaker Question

Hi guys. Ok, so long story short, my left iPhone 5 speaker is blown. The right speaker works perfectly. Do any of you guys know how much it costs to get my speakers replaced? Thanks

The phone only has one speaker.  The other is the microphone.
A Picture is worth blah, blah, blah.  LOL

  • Macbook Air blown speaker

I bought a Macbook Air 13 inch recently, the best one in store, costing £1,349.00.
When I took it home and got a few songs from my iCloud account on iTunes, I noticed a deffinate crackle coming from the left speaker.
I took the macbook back to the Apple Store and they replaced it, no questions asked.
When I got home, I was heartbroken when the problem had simply moved to the right hand side of the Macbook Air.
So, upon returning to the Apple store the very next day, the particular genious I saw said he couldn't hear it. They took it for a couple of days, and I received a call on the Friday (took it in on a Wednesday) saying to pick it up. However, they said no one could hear a problem.
The thing is, I think they either didn't test it or simply refused there is a problem, like the iPad 2.
    So, I'm seeking your advice.
Should I take it back and try one more time, and if they don't do anything about it put up with it. Or should I get my money back, then immideatly walk in and back in so to speak, and buy a new one..
I'm annoyed because, the laptop cost short of one and a half thousand pounds, and I bought the extended Apple Care.
Should I offer to pay to have them replace the speaker if it's so difficult for them to give me a new unit.
Thanks for your advice and time.
    Jack Smith

I would bring it back.  Try to isolate the problem by placing the balance only to the left speaker, then only to the right, which should demonstrate the crackle.
Also, try to use test tones (google "test tones" for some samles)

  • HT1688 blown speaker

My daughters Iphone 4 left speaker is very low and makes a rattle noise. Is there an easy fix????

The iPhone has only ONE speaker on the bottom.

  • Info on blown Pre speaker - save your speaker

I am now negotiating for my 2nd Palm Pre replacement.  Each has blown its respective external speaker.
1: The first phone eventually was reduced to a volume level where the only way you could hear the notification ring was to place the speaker up to your ear.  All audio and ringtones were quiet and mega-distorted.
2: The replacement sounded great for a couple of weeks.  Then I noticed that it was getting harder to hear.  Now - though not as bad as the previous phone - it is failing the same way.  All audio is always weak and distorted, despite full volume, reboots, etc.  note: I never upgraded this phone beyond 1.0.2, because I knew that 1.1.0 had its own volume issues, that were pending a fix.
PALM ENGINEER COMMENTS: On my second phone (after escalting to engineering), Palm's team said that: prior to 1.1.0, the speaker output was too loud for the speaker component, causing it to fail in some circumstances.  1.1.0 artificially caps the volume at a lower level, in an attempt to keep the speaker from getting damaged.
In other words, the speaker will never be as loud as it was originally (in 1.0.2), but it may not blow out anymore.
So, if your speaker is still in good shape, be sure to let your phone upgrade to 1.1.0.  And maybe don't turn your ringer all the way up.  Or don't use loud ringtones.  or loud music.  If its not loud enough for you... return it while you can, because it can't go louder without damaging itself.
Personally, I've begun to pine for my trusty old Treo 650, which could wake me up from another room, so I may have to go back to it.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I had to have my first pre replaced because of a blown speaker.  Now my second one is doing the same thing you describe.  speaker is blown
Now i know im pretty rough on phones sometimes, but i have tried to be super careful with my pre.  I have dropped it (like anyone would) and it almost seems like the speaker gets broekn loose from the case and that causes the distortion.  Id almost love to open it up and see if thats the case, but with the total equipment protection im better off just getting it replaced.

  • Speaker blown?

First off, I'm on my fourth macbook. The first two had serious build and power issues, the third started to shutdown. It was at the repair depot for two weeks before I got it back with a bad DVD drive + scratched case. They agreed to send me a new one and I just got that one back last thursday. I've had the volume muted since I got it because I was mainly using it at work but today I was using it with the volume turned up and it sounds like there's a blown speaker. The startup sound is fuzzy/flabby and the system sounds sound like there is something extra vibrating with any low pitch sound. Music sounds distorted. I'll call my customer relations person on monday but I think I'm just going to keep this one and not even worry about it getting fixed. Apple has worn me out on this thing.
Any one else have this issue and if so, what did applecare have you do? Is it something they might be able to fix at the store?

It was in the normal white box that my other three
    came in
You got a new one then. Unfortunately another lemon.
I think if they can't fix it at the store the only
thing I'll go for is for apple to send me a new one
before I send this one back. Other than this problem
and the weird sensor behavior, this macbook seems
solid. I want to make sure that a new one doesn't
have more even more serious problems.
Apple has some serious quality issues with their hardware. I've owned four Power Mac G5s and had hardware issues with three of them. Now my MacBook has to have the optical drive--which never recorded from day one--and logic board replaced. Where is their quality control? Don't they test anything before it goes out the door? If you don't think there's a problem here, what are the chances of Mike getting FOUR--make that FIVE--bad MacBooks? Think about it.

  • Speaker on left side scratchy and not clear

Any fix for the speaker on the left side scratchy for a Pavilion dv5?

To answer your correction, there is no fix for what seems to be a blown speaker.  The only "fix" would be to replace it.  I would probably buy another speaker from a reputible website and replace it.

  • Blown speakers?

So I was playing music on my macbook with the volume up all the way. I don't usually do this, just maybe a couple times a year. It was fine for a while, but after about a half hour i got this really ugly buzz with the music. After doing some research, I discovered it was probably a blown speaker. I restarted my laptop with the volume all the way up and it buzzed during the startup noise. Then I tried playing music at a lower level while moving the slider from left to right in the sound tab in the system preferences window... it's slightly quieter on the left than the right, but it still plays alright on both left and right. Do I have a blown speaker? If so, will Apple Care cover it? How much will it cost to get it fixed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Storm 2 speaker issues

Has anyone had problems with their Storm 2 regarding the speakers?  My speaker is fine to listen to music, but when I'm talking to someone on the phone, it almost sounds like the speaker is blown when they speak some words.  I can hear a word then the next one is blocked out by a weird sound.. almost like a blown speaker.  It's very annoying!  I'm so tired of saying, "what was that?  What did you say??".  Ughhh
Anyway, my phone and three other people that I know of are having the same issues.  Seems like it all started after a scheduled update.
    Any answers??

It is an issue and I have had two replaced for it and a few of my colleagues had to do the same. Call customer support and get a new on the way. It only gets worse to where you cant understand anything people are saying. I do believe it is the a blown earpiece speaker. I had the same issue with a curve also.

  • Galaxy S4 Earpiece Speaker Quit. (anyone else?)

Well I was so excited to get my Galaxy S4 yesterday & all was going well until I needed to make phone calls. Notice the earpiece speaker was going in & out. Thought at first it was just a bad signal so didn't think much of it. But then 4-5 phone calls later still doing same thing. I could put it on speaker phone & would work clear with no problems. Well now it just completly went out all together with no sound at all. I've tried everything thinking & hoping it was just an error on my part, but it looks like I got a blown speaker! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced any issues with that? I love the phone & verizon is sending another one soon! (I hope?) . Stuff happens I know but it's just disappointing when you wait 4 weeks for phone & you get a dud (came a little earlier than expected tho). Can't wait to get the new one hope it's is a little better. Thanks

Since you just got the phone, the replacement should be a new one.  I hope it works out better.

  • Single Sided Speaker 'noise'

I'm struggling to see if anyone else has had this issue.
My BMP (see below for specs) has run v smoothly for the last year, with the odd issue that has been covered with applecare, nothing major, a fan that made a bit of a racket and a dodgy power supply (i guess that's not the MBP though!)
However, in the last 2 months or so, i've had one problem that has seemed to disappear and another one that has seemed to get worse.
The left side speaker creates a constant noise a bit like interference noise. Sometimes it is completely constant, sometimes it only happens just before and for a few seconds after playing some kind of audio through the MBP (a system sound or music, it doesn't matter)
It sounds just like there is an audio file playing silence on very loud if you get my drift. - just a quiet 'white noise'.
It disappears if i plug earphones in (and doesn't appear in the left earphone).
The other problem was not sleeping on shutting the lid but this seems to have disappeared since the last update patch on the system core.
anyone else have any ideas before I get the repair team to have a look.
    thanks

I don't think we can be of much help here as your problem will definitely need the attention of the repairs team. Obviously it is not a software issue and it might just be the case of the speaker unmounting and/or needing replacing. I've come across this problem in guitar amplifiers and other audio equipment and normally the problem can be traced to a faulty connector or a blown speaker, sometimes they just needed cleaning around the baffles. It's good that you've isolated this to the speaker by connecting headphones. Sorry I can't help you any further.

  • Left speaker on ALU 20 imac

I'm posting as I can't find a reason why / why not to my problem.
I am having an intermittent problem with an intel ALU imac. the left speaker keeps dropping it's main output.
Trying to find a source of the problem, I have:
    Restarted - shutdown and restarted.
    logged out and in
logged in as a different user
launched iChat (mic is in left speaker housing
checked all sound settings including midi settings in Utilities
I'm sure this is not a hardware problem ie blown speaker, as the is a little bit of sound when I change the balance to left channel.
And as I say it does come back..
Today it actually went off while I had NASA TV on in Safari (OK) then real player launched to play the ram file (NASA TV) when I heard the change.
if anyone has had the same problem and knows of a cure (other than external speakers or headphones) please post!
    Thanks!

you could try a SMC reset and a NVRAM reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
If the above reset do not help, I would see if the issue happens with headphones. if the issue dose not happen with head phones, then you it is an issue with the speaker and you should seek service. http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

  • Ideapad Y450 - Vista to Windows 7 upgrade comedy routine

I've looked for information on how to upgrade my y450 (Vista) to Windows 7 but have been unable to find what i am looking for. The lenovo page for Ideapad windows 7 information is a dead link.
What are the steps to install windows 7 on the laptop? The issue here is the app 'one key recovery'. How do I install it so this software will restore to windows 7?
To be honest this website is a trainwreck: dead links, wildly different urls and formatting, and no clear information for customers. I am eligible for the upgrade DVD I have seen mentioned (I think), but am not prepared to go through the ordeal of shipping. Couldn't Lenovo provide us all with information how to deal with this? I would have thought there should be a FAQ for Y series customers wishing to upgrade but I have not found one.
    1. Please advise how to install windows 7 so that I don't have a redundant vista on the HD for recovery. Step-by-step would help as Lenovo have non-standardised the installation with their one-key bloat. I've seen conflicting walkthroughs from randomly confused customers.
    2. Please provide a link for a support package for Y450 users that gives all the  Win7 drivers needed for the massive bloat they force on their customers (one key recovery/dolby buttons/comedy slide functions). Or we have to manually look for each driver?
    3. Please explain how users of computers shipped with Vista can upgrade successfully to Windows 7. (Yes with one key recovery etc working). The goal is to have a fully working computer - not some compromised hybrid of vista and 7. One-key is absolutely useless and an insult if we can't revert to Win7 rather than Vista.
    4. I've seen mention of a mythical CD Lenovo provided for those who had laptops with VIsta shipped in error. Can we *all* not get this software so we can have working systems?
If this information is there and I've missed it I'm sorry. I've spent over an hour looking with no results. Seeing as the first laptop I received had been repartitioned and used by salesmen, and the second shipped with a blown speaker, I'm not too impressed. I've also no idea why my laptop has vista on it rather than windows 7.  - I bought this laptop a week ago.
I hope you can point out that this is all my mistake and that the information is out there. At least then I can get on with things. If they hadn't bothered with one-key recovery (a 'feature' that puts more people off buying the laptop than encourages them to buy it) they would have saved on R&D and made a more successful product. You have to ask yourself wtf they were thinking on this one.
    Please advise.
EDIT : It appears that this recovery system is not supported in Windows 7 (please confirm). If this is the case then do I simply format C and install Win7? I have heard about 'hidden partitions'. Is this hidden recovery partition on C drive and will it be erased by a simple Win7 installation (by following basic installation wizard)?
I just want a clean installation of Windows 7 with no lingering partitions and unused data (namely vista image).
1/ Do i just insert win7 dvd and install with no issues? 2/ Please link driver pack for y450 vista users upgrading to Win7.
    TY.

Will I be able to install Win7 on my Y450 while maintaining onekey functionality with 7 (It originally shipped with Vista)?

I'm strictly a ThinkPad user and have never seen an IdeaPad, so I don't have the answers to your questions.  However, in this thread down in the Win 7 board, someone said they had gotten it to work with the RC candidate last summer.
