Hr tag in HTML, are they still used.....?

It seems you can create the same effect by using certain css styles, just wondering is it advisable to use them...?
Are they compatible in dreamweaver...?

I cant see any reason why not.
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_hr.asp states:
"The hr element can be used to separate content in an HTML page."
http://www.w3schools.com/html5/tag_hr.asp says:
"The <hr> tag inserts a horizontal rule, which should define a thematic change  in the content."
Seems like there's a slight change in emphasis in the purpose but in HTML 4 XHTML and HTML 5 the element is valid and has a purpose.

  • Memory mapped files Are they still used.

    To System  programmers.
    In some of my old code David used memory mapped files in handling huge sets of random points.  The code reads in the whole file and then sets flags similar to an async process.  The filemapping handles memory instead of using mallocs.  the
    data maybe stored on the heap or in hte global stack.  I went back to Viusal Studio 6 and tried to take out the code as the standard c++ handles a full file read as a char buffer as a void * structure.  I found some valloc data types and
    then found the newer filemapping routines in VS2013. Plus an explanation of global stack and heap.
    Are software developers using file mapping or are they using say vectors to form stl structures.

    Here is some typical code in the old C.  This is close to the code I used in Visual studio 6.  I need to put this in vs2013 under c++ or C++ 11/14.  I have guessed the file handle open and size code.
    main{
    int fsize, numRecords;
    Point *allPoints;
     fsize = readAllFile(name, &allPoints);
    numRecords = fsize/ sizeof(Point);
    for (i=0; i < numRecords:; I++)  printf("rec %d values x %.3f\n", i, allPoints[i].x);
    int
    readAllFile(char*name, void **addr){
    file *fh;
    int fsize;
    openf(fh, name);
    fsize = getfilesize(fh);
    *addr = malloc(sizeof(char)*fsize);
    fclose(fh);
    return fsize;
    This is the boilerplate for the file reads.  Even tried this with text files and parsing the text records.  Instead of the mallocs you suggest vector and the scheme of the code remains the same.
    For a lidar file the xyz records have grown from 10,000 in the 1990's to 1,000,000 points in the mid 2000's.  For this size file 24 M bytes are allocated in one hit.  The whole of the Gold Coast in terms of lidar points in 2003 was 110 million
    points.  It could be more.
    Where is the data stored in the Malloc, Vector or memory Mapped file.  What is good and bad practice.
    Cheers

    They don't go into the Trash. Unless you have a backup prior to the deletion time it's gone.

    If using wi-fi are you still using part of $15 att plan?

    No.  You would be using wi-fi.
    the $15 plan is for AT&T's cellular data network.
    Visual Voicemail, however, does use cellular network.

    Your apps are stored in your iTunes Library on your computer. If you recover the iPad or purchase a new one just re sync your apps / music etc.

    So you are saying Microsoft should provide each and every function users can come up with and it's no good if 3rd party developers imlement such features? It would seem to me you are the one who is not getting the whole concept of modern day smartphone OS development as we see it today. Apps are an integral part of the whole system and it's not the responsibility of the OS developer to cram each and every little feature anyone wants into the core OS.
    Why don't you talk to the developers of an app like volume, tell them you like what you see and that you would think it would be cool if their apps does so-and-so.. This is a user-to-user discussion platform and not a 'talk to Microsoft' forum.
    While I get that SYmbian may have has some features some would like to see in their current OS that is not what this is about. I would LOVE to see Windows do things which I could do with Amiga OS back in the day but is that going to happen? I am guessing not ever..

    Just in case....go to icloud.com/#find and see if your phone shows up.
    If it doesn't, there is nothing you can do to prevent someone else from using it if they know the passcode. That means it's time to start changing any and all passwords you have for websites & apps.

  • My kids are on my email account.  I want them to now have their own accounts.  Can they still use all of my music and apps?

    I have my kids' iPods on my account.  I want to put them on their own accounts.  Is there a way I can do this without having them lose all of the stuff on my account?  And can they still sync things that I download if they're using my computer?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    If your children are under 13, you should open 2 new accounts for yourself and let them use it. They can use these ID's for iCloud and so have their own email! contacts! calendars etc, but still share your original ID for iTunes for apps, music, etc. You can continue to sync them with your computer.

  • Are people still using Safari 1.0?

    I'm trying to find out approximate usage figures for Safari 1.0. I have a CSS bug on my website that occurs in Safari 1.0 which is apparently fixed in 1.2. Mac users are important, but not that common, on my site and I'm wondering what proportion of Safari users are still using 1.0.

    It would probably be the same as the proportion of people still using Mac OS X 10.2.x, give or take due to alternative browser usage. If you could pull up statistics on Mac OS X's install base, that might give you some idea. Sorry, I know it's not very helpful.

  • *** Authorization Forums, are they still part of SAP

    Hi coffee lovers,.
    I am one of the old school guys when it comes to authorizations and SAP security. I have found that with the Audit COBIT principals and GRC enabling toolsets the "TODAY" authorization administrator gets sucked into enhancing applications for business, implementing projects, re-design old authorization strategies and then of course entertaining the ex and internal auditor on a half yearly basis and donu2019t get stuck into what we learnt for the past couple of years u201CThis of implementing sufficient controls to secure company datau201D. The crits of my story is that the more the authorization administrator gets tasked with continues audits and ongoing enhancements and support the less time are spent to understand what they securing u201C Monkey told monkey do !!u201D
    .I have seen out of experience that when new products such as GRC get launched companies move unskilled authorizations administrators into this area and then expect them to implement and get stuck into detail with auditors and audit reports to clean-up historically raised auditing finding. The same resources then get used on parallel running SAP projects (re-implementations) through out their landscape and GRC gets rushed or pushed to the side. I have noticed that SAP Custom Development has always been and continued growing to become the biggest risk in organizations as developer create creative code that exclude authorization checks (Jump systems, post on behalf u2026).
    Nifty ABAPERS slip code into production that allow them and other authorized users to execute functionality without relevant authorization.... functional teams continue to changing SAP and apply custom functionality to facilitate business in their growing demand on business continuity. Functional and authorization don't collaborate due to tight deadlines and the RISK continues to grow.
    So to all the coffee lovers u2026 give the u201CGUYu201D in the corner the information to do his / her job optimally as this is what you get from business to succeed in your journey through your career.

  • Are people still using forums in company intranets

    I'm designing an intarnet suite for a company and they want to present last forum messages on the HP, isn't it dated and I should offer them using yammer or is it still a valid solution for company discussions these days?

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create a forum website in SharePoint.
    Per my knowledge, SharePoint 2013 has several social features, such as Community Sites provide forums for knowledge sharing and discussion, Newsfeed shows items from other users in reverse chronological order and SharePoint’s search feature has also been
    improved to take advantage of the new social capabilities.
    As for the question of whether to use Yammer or SharePoint 2013 social features, here is how I answer this question for my own customers:
    If your company restricts the use of any cloud-based platform or technologies, use      SharePoint 2013 social features.
    If your company does not restrict the use of the cloud, use Yammer.

  • Driver folders in sccm 2012. are they any use?

    Hi I was wondering if any one can give me there thoughts on whether to use sccm 2012 driver folders
    (not driver packages folders) and if so how.
    In sccm 2007 I could see a purpose because you could create your "os/architecture/manufacturer/model/type of driver" folder structure using search folders and add driver categories to these search folder so you could manage the drivers before adding
    them to the package.
    In sccm 2012 you don't have search folders as such and in most cases the drivers belong to more than one driver model category so moving them into a specific model folder does not make sense.
    As such I cannot see how to use the driver folder except for breaking the drivers up into there type e.g. network, graphics, usb etc.
    Most article I have read only mentioned driver package folders
    Your thoughts are most appreciated.
    Cheers
    Greg Turnbull

    We initially started breaking down all drivers by model and OS. This worked at first, but after the first year or so we started having issues finding drivers in the drivers node because some drivers were applicable to multiple models as well as multiple
    OS.
    For instance, Intel HD graphics for the Lenovo Yoga is also used on the L440 and T540p. It also applies to Win7x64 and Win8x64, so which folder would this driver go into?
    We ended up just moving everything into the root of the node and doing a search.
    One item to note, if you leave everything in the root, it can take a long time to load and search, especially if you add the Supported Platforms column.
