Passcode has been disabled and the computer it was synced to is no longer working. We have tried to sync to the new computer and it is not possible. Exactly what are the steps to do this. All our apple products are on our account, therefore, apple support should be able to see that there is nothing "suspect" going on. It is driving me insane not being able to reset/resync, whatever it's called when your locked out.

You should not get that message if you are simply trying to load the shuffle with songs from your iTunes library. If iTunes is trying to Update or Restore the shuffle, and you get that message, try the suggestions in this article

You can't merge Apple IDs. You also can't cancel (delete) and existing ID, you can only choose to stop using it.

I did this, but couldn't sign in with my Apple i.d. I had to create a new one. This "fix" didn't improve battery life, and Apple replaced the phone. I set the new phone up using "restore from backup" and the battery life is terrible. I'd like to wipe it and install the software from scratch but don't want to have to have another new Apple i.d. You password: You have set it! It might be your passcode or you mioght have set it accidentally, so test all of the passwords you normally use. If you cannot get the password you backup is lost, but you can still sync your iTunes content.
