HT1338 Error with installing updates

I was trying to install updates for iTunes, Java, and the Airport Utility updade. So far, I have done it 5 times.
My results:
1.Unexpected error
2.Sucessful
3.Sucessful
4.Unexpected error
5.Sucessful
The reason I keep on installing it is because even if it installs sucessfully, It doesn't work.
What I mean by this is when I installed it the first time, it corrupted Itunes, Java, and the airport utility
In iTunes, it gives me this error:
This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.
Update: The last one I installed got it working but this really ticks me off that I have try it 5 times

Hi I'm trying to update I know how to do that but the problem is here it takes too long for me then how can I do it faster ? Well there is nothing like how long it will take just waiting for more than 1 hour there
Anyone know how long it will take ?
because I can't turn it off
It can take 4-8 hours, so wait or abandon it and find a faster connection, now that you have started I would wait.
Be patient.

    Hi Fatonh,
What does the error message look like ?
Do you mean you will get the error messages "Error on installing Update KB3038314" every time you restart the machine or just an error message "80092004 " ?
    "80092004 "
Usually means "canot found object or property".

  • Having trouble with installing updates

    Hello,
I am having trouble installing updates.  I checked the windowsupdate.log file and I see:

    680         Agent
      * Criteria = "(DeploymentAction=* AND Type='Software') OR (DeploymentAction=* AND Type='Driver')"
In reading others' posts, I noticed in their logs contain "DeploymentAction=Install" .. could this potentially be the issue why it will not install the update?   If so, where does this get set at so I can modify it?  I looked around
but was not able to find this setting.
    Thanks for the help!

    Hello,
Here is what I see in the logs.  Can you please take a look and see if anything stands out?  There are a lot of errors/failures/warnings in the
WindowsUpdate.log.  Please look at the last 4 lines of this log listed below -- looks like it is looking for approval or  "WARNING: There are no approved updates to install".  Where is this coming from?  Is this
why the updates do not get installed?    Thanks for any help in reviewing these logs.  Thanks.

Software invariably gets the blame when it does not work as expected and your issue may in fact be a software bug.
However, reasons for software problems are many and varied including old or bad hardware, poorly configured systems or operating system issues such as permissions. All, some or none of those may apply to your computer.
Hard to tell without working through the troubleshooting steps systematically.

Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once. You can download from the Safe Mode.

  • Reader error with every update 0:104

    Hi all,
Interesting issue that I have spent quite some time attempting to resolve and have yet to determine a root cause.  I will give as much information as possible so this post may be quite long.  If I have missed any information, I can definitely provide it.
    Problem:
When any update is pushed to Reader, we receive an influx of calls with the error: "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (0:104)".  This error occurs any time a user attempts to launch a PDF.  If Reader is launched through the Start Menu or the install directory, it opens an MSI installer progress window.
Currently, we have found 4 ways of possibly fixing this, which works is random, but it is very time consuming having to manually work on over 1500 computers.  The possible resolutions are: 1: The user can launch Reader/Acrobat from their start menu and the install will complete, 2: An admin logs onto the system and opens Reader/Acrobat from the start menu, 3: We run a repair install of the software, 4: We completely uninstall and reinstall with updates.
    Environment:
Corporate with approx 2000 machines - end users are not local admins.
    OS Version Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1
    IE versions 9 through 11
Scattered installations of Chrome and Firefox
    Most machines running Reader 11.0.x
    Some machines running Acrobat Standard/Pro
    Reader setup:
When a new computer is added in our environment, Reader is automatically installed via Microsoft Deployment Toolkit.  I have created a custom MST for the install, using the Customization Wizard, and have tested it on multiple machines and VMs.  I also added the MSP files for updates as they come available to keep the installed version current with the releases.  The same install package is also setup in Microsoft SCCM as an Application (we do not use SCCM to manage WSUS nor SCUP) to push to machines already in the field.
MST Settings selected (Default unless noted):
Installation Options - Installer will decide, Remove all Reader, Enable, Enable, Silent, Suppress
    Registry - Add: DWORD HKLM\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\11.0\AdobeViewer\EULAAcceptedForBrowser  1, DWORD HKLM\Software\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown\bProtectedMode 0
    Shortcuts - Remove Desktop
Security - Off, Disable & Lock
Online Services - Disable Updates, disable Help>Purchase, disable PIP, disable all online services

Your english is fine, much better than my french!
My recommendation would be to take the machine into an AASP so they can help you install the EFI update. They receive DVDs for just the type of problem you are having, this whole process should take less than 10 minutes. To locate an AASP in your areas follow this link:

  • Error 1327 Installing/Updating Reader

When attempting to update Adobe Reader it comes up with an error "Error 1327.Invalid Drive H:\".  I run into the same thing attempting to install the latest version using the full installer.
H: is mapped to a user folder on the network.  The My Documents folder is pointed to "H:\My Documents" and is ONLINE.  The Adobe help page says the error occurs if the drive is unavailable but it is not, I have full access.
It mentions setting permissions on the folder for "Everyone" but this is the most insecure thing I have ever heard.  These are user's directories on a Windows server, we cannot just set permissions to Everyone.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

Can you please try running the EXE installer as the administrator (Right  click > Run as Administrator) and see if the error is still  displayed.
Also, can you try out the following command on your command prompt and post back the result:
    echo %userprofile%
If this displays the correct path i.e. H:\...., then you can go ahead and try out the changes as per the suggestion by "Shashi.kant"; since all you would be doing, would be replacing the full path of the userprofile (H:\....) with the corresponding environment variable i.e. %userprofile%

  • Errors With App Updates: Heres's what the "Apple Guy" said

Ever since the app store opened and updates to applications became available I have never been able to get an update without jumping through hoops. Those hoops would be deleting the application from iTunes and the iPhone as well as deleting any files from the application from my computer. Then after all this I have to re-download the application from iTunes.
I realize these apps don't have to be paid for again, but I find it very frustrating to have to go through this process just to get an update. My biggest issue is that I lose any and all data stored in that application because I had to delete it.
After searching these forums and seeing multiple people with the same problem, and no solution, I figured I'd go to the source and just call Apple support for iPhone and here's what they said in a nutshell.
Apple is totally aware that you can't get any updates without deleting the application. The guy was actually surprised when I told him that I have several updates per week. He said her personally only has 2 or 3 apps on his phone and he's never seen an update and thought maybe there was something wrong with my phone that I have so many updates. I told him I have about 30 apps and several of them have had several updates. This isn't a phone issue, it's an issue with iTunes being unable to load the new application without errors.
The gist of it is that there is NO way to fix this at this time. Apple fully expects us to delete the entire application every time there's an update and they don't really care that we're losing all our data. I don't think Apple had any idea that there would be as many updates as there are and so were completely unprepared. He actually told me that they are just now "getting back on our feet" after the big crash on the 11th when the 3G came out and they're doing the best they can. I'm sure this is true, but updates to applications were expected so why was this not forseen?
Disappointing!! Has anyone had any luck with updating applications without deleting everything first??? If so, how did you do it. I have tried since the middle of July with total failure. The Apple support guy was NO help so I'm turning to you guys!

Aha - interesting. Up until a few days ago, I was 'happily' updating apps virtually every day (bar the unhappiness caused by how long it took and the fact it moved the app to a different page from where I'd carefully moved it previously). I had a crash during an app update at the end of last week, after which I had to do a recovery restore. Since then... I'm seeing no updates available on the phone, even when I know they're in the store.
As of today I'd worked that could be because the App Store on the phone doesn't seem to know I've got most of my software installed, even though I clearly have (it marks only a few apps as 'Installed' on their page, whereas I've probably got 20-30). And now, checking iTunes, it's found updates for some apps, but not others. Who knows whether they'll be updated at the next sync...
Bottom line seems to be that as of 2.0.2, there are some serious issues with this aspect of the iPhone experience... along with endless backups (which to me seemed associated partly with the most recent iTunes update)... I really hope that the next update straightens things out!
