Hi all, I have a new Iphone 5, currently so i believe up to date.. however cannot get airplay facility.. Could anyone advise how I get it, colleuges say it should be there automatically, but no joy!!

tried all the things on help pages, still no good? I travelled in a new car today, a friend paired his phone to the car and it played music via bluetooth/air play button, i paired my phone and got jack diddly nowt.... would it be worth taking my phone to a local Apple store??? frustration is killing me.

Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

Cannot get AirPlay mirroring to work on my up to date iPad 3 and 2nd gen ATV. It does not show up anywhere.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue. I have looked at the support tips on apple, and both devices are fully up to date. However, AirPlay does not show up anywhere on my iPad, and there does not seem to be any way of connecting it to my apple tv. Both are running on the same wifi network. AirPlay is turned on in the ATV. Am I missing something?

How old is your WiFi router and are you connected to "N" WiFi? It seems to make all the difference. On your MBA, click the WiFi icon while holding down the option key. Does it say you are connected to 802.11n?

Data merge with images! cannot get it to work

I have set up my spread sheet like i usually do for a data merge with an extra column for the images with i called '@images-
my images i named the following way
Macintosh HD:Users:myname:Desktop:test:imagesqrcode_AberdeenENG.png it didnt work
i tried
Users:myname:Desktop:test:imagesqrcode_AberdeenENG.png it didnt work
i tried with slashes
i placed the images in the same file as my in design file and just named it qrcode_AberdeenENG.png that still didnt work
doesn anyone out there have a solution

Try placing the images in the same folder as the source file (the .txt file).
Then you should just be able to use the exact name of the image (no path required).

I went back to my source files for this example, and it still works in InDesign CS6.

HT1551 Apple TV searches for date and time settings, then the screen goes completely black and I get no response from the remote. Any suggestions?

I've moved to Sweden from Canada, and when I plug my Apple TV in, I get the LED light and the Apple logo, followed by the Setting Date and Time message. After that, everything goes black and I can't make any selections. The LED lgiht is still on however.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

10.5.8 is the final version of Leopard. After that you need a paid-for upgrade to Snow Leopard - if your Mac can run it:

I have 9 tabs, but when I try to make a tab group, only the current page shows up as a thumbnail, not all the tabs. I can't get them to work for me. All the tabs are listed on the right side of the tab groups box. What am I doing wrong?

There's no thumbnails to drag around except one on the left side of the page (the one that's open). The right side of the page lists every tab I have created.

Perhaps your problem is that '''you must save your browsing history''' in order to use app-tabs that would apply to groups as well but I did not test.

I would suggest that if you do not save that stuff in bookmarks, that you will probably have a serious problem soon and lose your tabs, so if you count on them you could lose them. They should stand up to repeated restarts but I would not count of them as app-tabs myself, for one thing it is new, the other is I have to frequently wipe them out and restart, because I actively open new content into them and go back to the beginning of the tab history, and sometimes I can't, and sometimes I lose them by accidentally closing them -- and I must be able to close them in all manners that I close other tabs or I wouldn't be using them.
There are people who keep 200 tabs open through restarting, that is not for me, I try to clear out the tabs frequently.
That is what app-tabs are for as opposed to home pages, but I did have a problem when I tested with 120 since as app-tabs only about 65 can be seen at once even though I did reduce the width of app-tabs to about 2/3 the size that they were.. Problem I had when I restarted was that the window enlarged a bit beyond the screen, and my tab counter disappeared until I reduced the count to about 65. I do not allow tabs to scroll so you probably wouldn't have that problem.
I forgot to test home page with 60 tabs. I do have something set to 75 though have to check that. I tested with 60 pages as home page. Brought firefox down and backup with the 1 app-tab and 60 home pages the app-tab is the same size as the 60 normal tabs from home page.
Never used group-tabs by choice, since they messed me up I stay clear of them, I don't like them or anything large panoramic type of large thumbnails.

IOU is operating system for iPhone, iPad not MBP. Is Pages the only issue you are having? What version of Pages are you using? Post in the Pages forum where those experts are.

What is going on with Verizon? Cannot refill my data, cannot get a hold of customer service

All day long I have been trying fill my data, and I cannot do it via phone or online. I cannot get a customer service representative. The 800 number keeps telling me that they are having issues processing my request and that they can't connect to customer service. I cannot refill it online, I keep being told that they are updating their systems. Literally this has been going on all day from about 9 am to now, almost 12 hours. Sick of this.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. If you did not do step 4 properly, start all over again.

Cannot get Palm Desktop in Mac to see data transferred from a PC

My wife has been using Palm PDAs for about 10 years, most recently a TX. Both this and her PC laptop have been stolen. She backs up to my FTP site from her laptop her MollyB directory (MollyB is her Palm user name) with everything below it. She urgently needs to get at her Palm data. I have FTP downloaded her data into my MacBook Pro (running OS-X 10.5.8) and have downloaded from the Palm website Palm Desktop 4.2.1 for Mac.
However, I cannot get the program to see the data.
How do I solve this?

I have been going over the code many times, but I can't figure out why the current date is not displayed at all. Can someone please show me what I did wrong?

Numbers does not have predefined key command for Insert Date & Time as you can see from this screenshot:
All menus show the key commands on the very right (if there is a ke command). You can add you own, custom, key commands by opening system preferences and selecting the Keyboard panel, then the "Keyboard Shortcuts" segment:
Click the "+" then a modal dialog will appear. Select the application from the pop, then enter the exact name if the menu item, and, finally, your desired key combination:
You can do this for any application

I just updated my Mac software with "Security Update 2012-001". I am now unable to print (Epson NX510 printer) from Excel or Word. When I click on the Print menu item in Excel, there is a flash in the background like it is trying to open the print window, but nothing else. I am able to print from other programs like TextEdit, Mail or KakeidaGraph. As far as I know I have the latest Epson print driver.
Also, I am also unable to open an existing Excel or Word file from the open menu - both programs lock up and do not respond. I have to force quit. After I restart Excel or Word I can open an existing file by double clicking on the file, but if I again try to open another file from the open menu, Excel or Word lock up.
Any similar problems?

Apparently some are reporting that this causes the older PowerPC (PPC) applications that are supported in 10.6 via 'Rosetta' to crash upon attempting to open/save/print using any dialog box, or fail in other similar ways such as simply not printing or quitting, or freezing/hanging/crashing of the application.
I have read of some companies that have indeed submitted proper bug reports to Apple, but that is not a guarantee of a bug-fix being issued.

If you are unsure if you are still using PowerPC apps, if the application is currently running, look under the 'Activity Monitior' (in Applications -> Utilities), or alternatively you could check in the System Profiler, Applications. Check the column "Type".
Here is a fairly simple way you can restore you system and restore you applications functionality again, if you don't have a recent clone or good Time Machine backup that you can restore from. If you do, restore from your backup prior to having installed the Security Update 2012-001.

If you are restoring a backup made by a Mac to the same Mac
With your backup drive connected, start up your Mac from the Lion recovery partition (Command-R at startup) or Mac OS X v10.6 installation disc. Then use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility. Select the backup prior to your issues, and it will be restored back to the state it was in at that time.
If you can't easily restore from a backup, you can instead do the following:
- You first start by reinstalling your OS X 10.6.x, this will preserve all your user data, your applications, no worries there.
- Then install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 (links provided below)
- Make sure you're printers are showing up correctly in your system preferences, if not, re-add the printers
- Then finally, run the Apple Software Update (by pulling down the Apple Menu), and install any and all remaining updates, except do not then re-install the Security Update 2012-001. It is possible that you may have to reboot after installing some of the updates, and you may even need to run it a 2nd time to make sure that you've got all updates, except NOT the Security Update 2012-001.
