On what exactly? Your computer?
Do you have a backup off the machine that's stable?
Now your files are still likely there, it's just a naming issue or a PRAM/SMC problem for power and a cache corruption issue for the files.
If you don't have a backup of your files, copy everything you can to a external storage drive and disconnect it.
Next run trhough this list of fixes, I suspect the SMC/PRAM reset will help with the power issues and the #12 OnyX cache cleaning routine will set your folders right.
Remmeber after the PRAM reset to set your time and date correctly. Pehaps that is what s throwing off the date on the folders?
It's really hard to figure your problem out with the information provided.

Again your files are likely very much still on the drive, you can recvoer anything as long as it hasn't be secure erased or overwritten by new data yet
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive

I have been trying to download Adobe Air for a website I'm trying to access (Colonial Williamsburg). After the installation was finished, I went back to the website and it still said I didn't have Adobe Air. I tried reinstalling and Adobe said I already have it on my system (Mac OSX 10.9). I can't find the app. I uninstalled, restarted, etc. and same results.
    Thoughts anyone?

Try this it worked for me Pat Willener gave it to me off the site :
I have not read all you wrote, so I may have missed some points. As I understand it, you installed FP 10 on IE7, but it won't play any Flash content?
    Try this
download the FP uninstaller from http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
close all browser windows, then run the uninstaller
download the offline ActivX installer for Internet Explorer from http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
close all browser windows, then run the installer

Yes, my telco is an approved carrier. If my phone was brand new, I think so, they opened it in front of me.. I really couldn't remember it was 1.4 years ago. It did seem new.
Well it says, "_____" cannot be used to unlock this iphone. I've tried both my apple ids but it didn't work.

  • I'm running OS X 10.6.8-Why is Time Machine all of a sudden backing up 225GB of data after 2 years of perfect service? I have not added, deleted, or upgraded anything, Help!

I'm running OS X 10.6.8-Why is Time Machine all of a sudden backing up 250GB of data after 2 years of perfect service? I have not added, deleted, or upgraded anything.

USB 3.0 drives work on USB 2.0 but you do get 2.0 speed. They are cheaper because they are popular PC drives.  If you get a new computer you'll get the bump to 3.0 speed.
I like the Seagate USB 3.0 Backup plus drives. They come formatted for PC but easy to format in Disk Utility.  Seagate Backup Plus Right now the 1T is more than the 2 & 3T drives
This Western Digital drive has good reviews: WD My Book Hard Drive for Mac 2 TB $99.
Locally, Best Buy seems to have the best prices.
USB 3.0 is 10x faster than USB 2.0
Thunderbolt is 12 times faster than FireWire 800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0.
Format new drives with Apple's Disk Utility rather than the software that come with the drive.
My plan was to rid a lot of the stuff I have on my computer (to a hard drive) anyhow once it had backed up.
I wound't necessarily backup those files to Time Machine. I would copy to the external drive then delete from computer. Only backup to Time Machine the data you would want to restore to your Mac if there was a problem. The backup will go much faster this way. Time Machine backup is slower than just copying data in my experience.

  • After formatting iPod to NTFS and restoring back with iTunes, the player works for two-three weeks and crashes afterward. It then requests to restore it through iTunes.

After reformatting iPod to NTFS and restoring back with iTunes, the player works for two-three weeks and crashes afterward. It then requests to restore it through iTunes. When connected to iTunes, it sees it in the restore mode and also asks to restore the iPod. It happens over and over for the last months. What could be the problem?
    iPod Classic 80Gig.
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear planb77
Thanks for a reply. iPod does not support ntfs - you're right. that means it will never work on that. While restoring ipod using iTunes, itunes reformats it no matter what filesystem is there. So the issue is not that. ipod is now on fat32 and it works for a certain period of time, but then crashes and asks to restore through itunes. Resetting/restarting does not help.

  • Artwork missing on iPod after power interruption

    hi all.
a nasty power interruption happened while my ipod is connected to the computer. now the pc restarted and my ipod disconnected however when i reviewed the songs, all the artwork is gone.
when i connected it back on the computer, i unchecked the display artwork on ipod button and nothing happened. so i checked it again to display album artwork on ipod and it displayed optimizing artwork for ipod which took about few mins. now when i restarted my ipod it has the artwork back.
prior to the problem, i still have about 1.2gb of free space, but when i checked display album artwok on ipod and after the optimization only 700 mb of free space was left.
how can i get the used space back? when i looked into the artwork folder in the ipod control of the folders hidden on ipod it has few artwork database files. would it be possible that the artwork database made another file for the new optimization i made and ate up space this time? has anyone encountered the same? pls your inputs. thnx.

thanks to your effort to answering my query. but restoring it will be the last thing that i'll have to do. as long as it plays music and videos.for me play counts are impt and if i restore it then i need to start paly count from scratch. if it's taken up a small space then i can bear with it in the meantime. i'll try to experiment things and find out how i can resolve it. thanks again.

  • Imac screen went dark after power interruption any suggestions?

My son's imac screen went dark after a power interupption (someone turning the computer off by pulling cord out of electric socket) and I can't get it to go back on.  I've already tried depressing the "command, alt,p and r" keys to get a restart, and while it did restart, still no picture on the screen.  Occasionally you can see white staticy lines, but mostly it is just dark.   I've seen the suggestions to update software and back up data but that isn't possible as far as I can tell because I can't see anything on the screen - it is totally dark!  Any suggestions?  He is coming home from a trip today and hasn't had any access to computer for some time - he is going to freak

First try iMac SMC and PRAM reset, please do each of them 2x. If that does not work then try restarting in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. You did not mention the version of OS X running on the machine, if you are running Snow Leopard then install the Snow Leopard disc in the SuperDrive and restart, when you hear the start up tone hold down the Option key and start from the SL disc and run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions & Repair Disk.

I loaded all my photos from my WD backup (PC) on to my new MacBookPro (IPhoto). All went well, and after labeling names on faces I lost all pic in each event loaded. Events have names and dates of pic, but are all empty.
    Can someone help me??
    Thanks

backup your iPhoto library, depress teh option and command keys, launch iPhoto and use the resulting first aid window to repair repair permissions, if needed repair the  the database - if that does not do it rebuild the database

Is there anyone with a clue out there, that can help me at all???

As the title of this post is a bit truncated, I am assuming that the issue here is the empty page just after the title page and you need to delete this page.
    Workarounds could be:
    - You can try deleting some empty lines in the page above it (the title page) to see if it removes this page
    - as this page is an extension of title page, it can be removed through Production->Remove Title Page option. (please copy the contents of title page elsewhere before removing it)

    PRAM/NVRAM reset. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379 You won't lose everything.
Boot in Safe Mode. See What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)

  • After Authorized Service Provider my Mac went back in time and I lost everything!

Yesterday my screen started showing weird horizontal lines, so I took it to an Apple ASP for a quick look.
First I created a new Admin account to protect my existing admin account. The guy would be using this one throughout his diagnostic.
The guy opened the back of the notebook, tweaked the cable connecting the screen and the logicboard, and turned the notebook back on.
After that he said he would perform a quick analysis/diagnostic that all ASPs do upon starting a service. The diagnostic showed that my battery needs to be serviced, everything else was fine.
His conclusion was that the screen needs to be changed as the cable cannot be changed without the screen. I got the notebook back, and he recommended I buy a new used computer, as servicing both the battery and the screen would cost at least 700-800USD in itself.
-> So fine, I take the computer back home, and turn it on. I log into my own personal admin account, not the one I had created for the guy.
    Result:
    * My notebook has jumped back in time: applications and files are missing; settings are odd; and worst of all......
    * my Safari no longer opens: it says
Safari cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
    Background:
Last fall I had the same issue: I had upgraded my Snow Leopard to Lion in 2011, and later to Mountain Lion last fall 2012. After doing so, my Safari no longer opened, saying the same as above. Without Safari I could not update anything, as to use App Store one needs Safari as a background software.
So I needed to do a clean install of my Lion and my Mountain Lion, and I did so while partitioning my harddrives to two partitions.
    Now:
I seem to be back in time, re-experiencing what happened last fall. Meanwhile I have lost everything I had on before taking the notebook to the service: I lost my Safari, its settings and open browsers, but I also lost a whole bunch of other features, apps, etc.
I tried returning to a restore point in my Time Machine - no difference. The issue with Safari persists.
I don't want to do another clean install, it took a lot of effort and would require me to invest in a new external harddrive of 2TB. If there is a way to restore Safari without a clean install, I would prefer it.
    Please help! Much appreciated.
    Znufkin

Dear ds store, thank you for replying. If I may clarify, I am not looking assistance on the screen or battery issue, it was just to give the background as to why I had to take the notebook to an ASP and why the guy had to do a diagnostic with the notebook.
The problem is with Safari not opening, and with my OS X going 'back in time' to a restore point where my earlier problem with Safari occurred. I don't understand what the guy did to reverse my OS X to a distant point back in time in last November, and why my Safari problem reappeared even though I had done a clean install to fix it.
    Thank you!

  • Once I installed beta version, it lost all bookmarks. Went back to regular version, now all bookmarks are still gone, keeps no history, and cannot bookmark, what happened?

I installed the beta version, noticed now I had lots of missing bookmarks, so I uninstalled beta. Reinstalled current regular version, now I have zero bookmarks, and it does not keep any kind of history. Will not let me backup and restore the dates of the last saved bookmarks. What happened?

See [[lost bookmarks]] and as a cautionary tale with a happy ending the [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/787020#answer-141048 thread] ''"I deleted by mistake bookmarks by uninstalling the previous version of Firefox beta 4.011b... Is there anyway to recover them? "''
