Buy an external backup drive and use TimeMachine to backup your internal drive.
Storage capacity should be 2 to 3 times the capacity of the internal HD.

• When I now open I Photo it asks "What photo Library do you want i photo to use? Never did this before.

What happened? I have beed using iphoto to download scanned photos - all of a suddent it asks, "What photo lib do you want i photo to use?" Never had to do this before and nothing is available to choose? Where did the old lib go?

I have the same issue with the Library of a friend. All of the sudden appeared the same message "What photo library...?" He chose the one already used and now doesn't appear the latest photos he has already added and edited. As far as I know, he hasn't deleted any other library. Neither Time Machine has a backuo of the latest photos. Weird stuff.

Podcast Producer is part of OSX server and is something I have no experience of. It is expecting your to be running your own server - AFAIK it's not designed for use when you are expecting to host on a commercially run server but I'm not sure about that. You should ask in the OS X Server forum applicable to the version you have. If you are not running OSX server then this program appears not to be suitable for you.

• Everyday I load firefox in morning & at the top next to the firefox icon it is written in english. But after a little while it all turns to asian (chinese/japanese) characters. I have to restart my computer to get the english back. What is going on?

Has firefox been hacked? It is freakin me out & I am going to switch browsers if this cant be corrected.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• I'm planning to give this iPad to my brother in which I already used for a period of time,what should I do to make the settings like a brand new?

should I delete my apple account.if yes.if ever I got my new iPad can I still retrieve all my stored files.

Settings/General/Reset/Erase all Contents and Settings
Then your brother can set it up as a new iPad.
If you do this, you will lose non-iTunes-purchased music, photos, documents, saved progression of games, saved settings on other apps, etc. unless they are backed up somewhere else such as on a computer or through iCloud. After all, you are erasing all content and settings. It won't affect your iCloud stuff such as apps and music you bought through iTunes; you can re-download all that through iTunes. You can also redownload iCloud mail from the iCloud server.

• I have tried to transfer files from my windows media player to my ipod but it saysthe device has stopped responding or stopped working.this is the first time ive connected nmy ipod to my new pc.any ideas?

I have tried to transfer music from my windows 7 media player to my ipod.This is the first time i have tried to use my ipod on my new computer .In the media player it doesnt give me the option to add to itunes library it just give me the option to send to my ipod and when i do this it says that the device has stopped responding or isnt working.Any ideas? coz i aint got the foggiest where i am going wrong.My ipod keeps telling me to update the software,but then will i lose the music thats already on my ipod?

You should import the music (that is listed in Windows Media Player) into your iTunes Library - on your computer - to add it to your existing iTunes Library. I take it you have moved (or copied) your music from the old computer to the new computer, haven't you?
Then Sync your iPod to that Library.
iPods will not respond to Windows Media Player, they're designed to connect to iTunes.

• Issue starting up and using OC Genie

Hi everyone,
I recently assembled my first computer, using the MSI P55-CD53 motherboard. But, I have a few problems...
Whenever I start up, the computer sits at the MSI splash screen for one to two minutes... After that, Windows boots up like normal and the computer operates normally (I've played games, etc). Quick Boot is enabled in the BIOS. Is this normal? I also installed the chipset drivers from the disk that came with the motherboard.
My other issue is with the OC Genie function (I was only going to use it if the OC provided by it gave adequate performance for the game I am trying to play). I power down the computer, press the OC Genie button in on the motherboard, and then turn the computer on. The MSI splash screen appears with the text, "OC Genie Activated!!", on it, but then the computer shuts down after the screen displays for a few seconds. It does this about 4 times, and then the fans and LED's come on, but there is no image and Windows doesn't boot. I've let it sit there for several minutes, but it never boots up and I have to end up turning it off and pressing the OC Genie button again on the motherboard...
These are my system specs:
Motherboard: MSI P55-CD53
Processor: Intel i5 750 @ 2.66GHz
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
HD: Western Digital 320GB 7200RPM
Graphics Card: Nvidia 8800 GTS 512
PSU: OCz 600W Stealth Xtreme
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit (to be replaced by Windows 7 64bit)
I would be very grateful for any help.
Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply, guys!

I am having the same issue, it reboots itself 4 times from 3.2Ghz decreasing until reaches 2.2Ghz on the 4th reboot and then just halts... and nothing on screen no matter how long i wait. I had to turn off the OC genie and then do a load to optimized default to get it back to 2666hz or it stays as 2.2Ghz. Tried many times, reset the bios using the jumper. tried many things, still not once does it overclocks.
Here is my build:
Motherboard = MSI P55-CD53
CPU = Intel Core i5 750 2.66G s1156
RAM = TWIN3X2048-1333C9DHX G - 2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS3, DDR3 PC3-10666 (1333) 240 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, DHX
CPU Cooler = Noctua NH-U12P-E SE1366 (had to purchase s1156 bracket)
GFX = MSI NX8800GTS-512-OC
I can use the MSI Control centre and boost it to 2.9Ghz from 2.6Ghz, but the OC Genie just doesn't work at all.
Buziel-411, can you explain the steps you did to get yours working? is it stable?
Oh yeh, I've also upgrade the BIOS to v1.2 and it still doesn't work!
Thanks..
Hoi.
That's exactly what happened to me! After I would disable OC Genie and boot normally, I needed to load optimal settings in the BIOS to get it back to 2.66GHz.
Once I reset the settings and got it to 3.51GHz and then restarted a few times, the PC began the have issues booting and OC Genie had to be disabled once more. I eventually gave up on it and learned how to do a manual OC. For the past 4 or so days, I've been sitting at 3.71GHz (achieved with a manual OC) and received no errors after 8 hours of running OCCT for stability testing.
Now I just need to upgrade my video card to take advantage of all this game has to offer.

• I have a macbook pro 10.6.8 system. My hard drive was replaced under warranty. Since then, my computer runs hot. The original hard drive never ran hot. What would cause the new hard drive to run hot?

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro, OS X 10.6.8, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. This is my first computer so don't know anything about trouble shooting. A week before the warranty expired, I took my computer to Apple to be checked. I was told that my hard drive was bad and they replaced the hard drive. Since then, my computer runs hot most of the time and the fan is constantly coming on, which is good My computer rarely ran hot with the original hard drive. What would be causing this?

racergirl,
have you tried resetting your MacBook Pro’s System Management Controller, to see if that makes a difference with the heat?

• I have two hard drives on my mac 10.5.8 power pc and hear the clickking sounds of the first hard drive and think that it may be dying, can I install everything on the other hard drive also and wait for the first drvie to die before i use the other drives

I have two hard drives on my mac 10.5.8 power pc and hear the clickking sounds of the first hard drive and think that it may be dying, can I install everything on the other hard drive also and wait for the first drive to die before i use the other drives? Or, what is the best way to handle this?

I do not know what you are waiting for.
I'd make a backup of your important stuff before cloning the entire disk.
Carbon Copy Cloner will copy your startup drive to an external firewire drive. You can boot from the external drive to verify that you have a good clone. When you upgrade your existing startup drive, you can at any time boot from your external drive and go back to your existing system.

SuperDuper is the wildly acclaimed program that makes recovery painless, because it makes creating a fully bootable backup painless. Its incredibly clear, friendly interface is understandable, easy to use, and SuperDuper's built-in scheduler makes it trivial to back up automatically. And it runs beautifully on both Intel and Power PC Macs!

I have a new Macbook Air, 6 months old, and for the last few days the fan had run continuously, this is the first time it has ever run, and now it won't stop, the fan starts up as soon as I turn it on and the computer seems to running more slowy.The computer is not hot but I am worried it may burn out,.Any ideas on how I can fix this please ?

Hello dwb,
Here is the screen shot, just the top half, there are another 10 pages, but I guess this should enough for you to have an idea of waht is going on, bit small I am afraid. No, I don't have any apps setup to run when I open my computer, the kernel, varies between 290 and 305 per cent ish.
Would that PRAM thing help ? I think it may be the computer itself, well something inside, as this the first time that the fan has ever started running since I have this computer, even when I have 3 or 4 apps running.
Thank you again for your advice,
Regard,

• This is my first mac, it is a macbook pro. i restarted it but when it started back up i saw a white screen and then it prompted me to insert the reboot disk. anyone else have this problem?

I recently bought a Macbook Pro, this is my first Mac. I restarted it, but when it started back there was a plain white screen and then it prompted me to insert the reboot disk. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way to do this manually like with PC's?

The new Mac's came with OS X Lion 10.7 and there are no boot disks.
Since it's so new, take it back to the Apple Store and let them deal with it.
If not you can hold Command and r (as in rotten) keys down and boot the computer.
You'll be presented with a several options, including one to reinstall OS X Lion provided you have a Apple ID, which means you have to use Safari in there to set one up. To do that you need to set up a email account with Google or Yahoo. Once you get the ID, then you can download Lion and reinstall it.
It's so stupid not having a copy of the OS on hand to perform your own repairs.
Of course Apple will be happy to sell you a $69 Lion USB stick.
Like I said, take it back to the store, and try to get your money back, that will force them to think about just giving you a replacement machine that works.
Lion doesn't work really but it can be acceptable until the patches get released.
