HT201328 Want to go overseas and need my virgin mobile iPhone 5 unlocked so I can use it in europe. Called VM and they said it can't be done. That doesn't make any sense.. What can be done?
Have Virgin Mobile iPhone 5 and they said it can't be unlocked. Reason to get it unlocked is so I can use the phone when travelling in Europe. This is crazy because I also payed for the phone in full... Also, what happens if you move to a region in the U.S. and service is bad...Your stuck with an expensive brick.. Any way to get it unlocked?
Not all carriers unlock their phones. They are under no legal obligation to do so in many places.

It doesn't make any sense (trouble adding new songs/podcasts)
Hi all
When I add new songs to my Ipod shuffle, some will play, some won't. When I try to add some podcasts, I can't add them directly by dragging and dropping, so I had to create a new playlist where I can add some new podcasts. And some will play, and some won't.
By the way, I can't see a whole list of files "inside" the ipod. Instead, I see them in two separated screens.
OS: Windows XP
All podcasts and songs are ok, they can be listened to when played on iTunes
Already changed options for podcasts, so they will play when playing in random order.
iPod shows up in iTunes when pluged in
Used apple stuff for some time now.
I used a ipod shuffle 2nd gen for some time and no problem at all...

This whole things it has been doing my head in for the last two days...
PS: And sometimes it only plays podcasts. And sometimes only music and no trace of podcasts. As I said... it doesn't make any sense...

PS 2nd: Tried again, now with two podcasts (ok to play random) and one song. Only can listed to the song. No idea why it doesn't play the podcasts.

Since ipod shuffle 3G, you have to add podcasts to a playing list, otherwise you can't listen to them.
If I get it solved, I will write here for the next who doesn't receive much help from Apple and has to google the solution. -

Start here, and reset your password, you will receive an email with your new password, then go tomanage your account > Password and Security and change your security questions.

Why were the colour icons taken away from the finder and itunes sidebars and and replaced with grey monochrome shade icons.
Have apple rectified this yet ?
It doesn't make sense to me why they changed this. Can anyone tell me the reason for the lack of colour ?
On another note, can the the sidebar be changed back to the right hand side in preview (when opening PDF's). It has always been on the right in snow leopard and tiger.
It seems to me that their has been too many unnecessary changes in the Lion operating system.

You'd have to ask Apple, no one here would know - we are just users like you and aren't allowed to speculate on these forums. You have quite a bit of company though - many people preferred the color.
And, I've not found a way to put the sidebar back on the right side in Preview, but maybe someone else can chime in with that.

That's NOT to say people are STUPID, but they don't have a feel for exactly what they are buying with these data caps. I can't count how many times I have walked into a VZ store, heard a rep tell someone $30 for 2 Gig or whatever, and the customer just looks starry-eyed back at him and asks: "But how much IS that though?" This is a serious vulnerability to price gouging in this digital age of 5-10 Gig DVDs and 1 Terabyte hard drives. Not to mention video streaming at 1.25 Gig per 2 hour movie.
Bulk discounts are one thing (that's how economy of scale works) but inconsistent data pricing that's all over the map is quite another thing altogether. $50 for 1 Gig..$30 for 2 Gig...$60 for 2 Gig...$30 for 4 Gig..$50 for 4 Gig....$70 for 4 Gig...$40 for 300 Meg (!!!!). Yes, ALL of these prices currently exist as part of Verizon's pricing models on one plan or another.
Verizon's CFO has himself said to his own investors, that these sharing plans were intended to be "profit-generating engines." Indeed they certainly are. But not at MY expense, thank you very much. -
It maybe to do with the registry cleaner. Most people seem to fix it by using restore points which I just realised I hadn't created any beforehand....don't lecture me on it I already know, stupid move.

I also know I have a lot of stuff like plug ins and such that I don't need nor use but I'm lazy :DIt does not immediately delete the files that are missing.. it merely tries to backup the new files it has discovered on the external drive. Since you moved the files there, the backup at least for a while will contain both copies.. and that is why it doesn't have enough space to backup.
Fixing the problem.. hmm pondini is the expert.. you should be able to delete the backup of the photos in existing backup.. there are instructions to do it.. but it is a very poor way to do things.
Much better. .archive off the existing backup.. this is long and slow but worth it. you need a usb drive of the same size as the TC drive. Then erase the TC and start a fresh set of backups.
The alternative is to use the USB drive as a new target.. but it is much slower than the TC internal drive.

I have a MacBook pro that I bought in 2012, I have had problems with it randomly restarting almost since it was new. I called tech support several times and they did tests each time and thought they had it fixed but later it started again. Some times it will go a month and not do it but lately it has been doing it more frequently some times several times a day. Day before yesterday I took it to the apple store and left it. today they called and said they could find nothing wrong with it. But they said they could see where it had restarted 60 times. Does anyone have any suggestions.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Ifou don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.

When I go to sync my iphone 3gs itunes alerts me that an update is available. I check to download an update. I then receive an error message stating that I am not connected to the internet. I am 100% positive that I am connected and before this download I was instructed to update itunes which I did without any problems and restarted my computer. I have tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions. I have no problem syncing or using the itunes store. I just can't get the update. I also have no problems with my iphone connecting to a wireless internet connection. Please Help!!!!!!

The T.V. show I'm trying to watch on my MACBOOK AIR won't load. I got it from the iTunes store last night. I'm not complaining that it's slow.It pauses halfway through when I try to watch it. And yet everything else has loaded. HELP!
p.s. every thing before that episode is nice and black. So are the first 11 episodes. Everything after that is grayed out but I could still watch it. But why?If your apps are up-to-date then there is nothing to download to update...the app store is telling you there is nothing for you to download.

I am unable to sync all my selected songs to my iphone. The error message is that the computer is not authorized. However, I have authorized the computer and iTunes confirms that. Any ideas what can be done to fix this. My phone is an iPhone 4S.
Were some of the songs purchased from a different itunes account?

Need to know how to get it back to its original Download Stack. Previous answers to this questionin Apple Support just don't make any sense to me. I'd appreciate explicit directions on how to restore this feature. Currently it's just a Download folder... must have accidently poofed it away.
Help!And if what WZZZ suggests doesn't work (and hopefully it will) move the file name below to the desktop, log out or restart and the Dock preferences with its defaults should be recreated. You'll need to re-configure it as you like it:

It's located: in Finder hold the Alt/Option key and from the Go menu select Library>Preferences.
If it fixes things, delete the file on your desktop. -
I have Vista for an OS, I was running Foxfire 3.4 when it started to freeze after opening the internet the first time and forced me to open the internet again to have function. The first one could not be interacted with at all, not even to close it.
I loaded Foxfire 4 and now can not even understand the layout. Nothing makes any sense at all. Where are all the normal features? Where do my open in new tab s go and how the hell do I get to them? I am too frustrated to even accept the new interface. I want the old interface back.There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them: -
I've received an email of an unauthorised access which states it was done in Canada, is there any way I can request Apple to inform me what the IP address that made unauthorised access was?
I want to know as it possibly relates to other security issues I've had of late and it would help further my investigation. Would a subject access request possibly allow me to recieve this information? As far as I know there's no way to see a list of when and where I sign in using my Apple ID?Sorry but no, Apple cannot give you that information. The only way they could give anyone such an IP address would be if they received a court order to do so, if even then; I don't know what sort of tracking and logs they do.
However, if this email claimed that someone had tried to reset your password and in any way gave you a link to click to confirm your account information, the email was almost certainly a phish. Such phishing messages have been quite common over the last two or three weeks and should be deleted without responding. You may wish to manually type in the URL for Apple's page for managing an Apple ID and change your password, just as a precaution, and make sure you've set good security questions using responses that can't just be looked up for you (they don't have to be real information; you can use any response you wish as long as you can remember what you entered).
