HT204400 Intermittent disconnects or connectivity issues

I have done everything the help guide said to do I even went as far as to move the router to the living room so that I could hard wire to it and I am still having Intermittent disconnects. Can someone please help me?

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • HT6030 Mavericks IMAP connection issues over wireless

I am having intermittent IMAP server connection issues on my Macbook pro when wirelessly connected to my home network. Other machines (both cabled devices and wireless devices) are fine. Other email accounts (Gmail and iCloud) are fine. It's just when connecting to my ISP's IMAP server. All settings in the MAIL app are correct (i have checked fifty times) and I have uninstalled / reinstalled the account several times.
If I set up the account, all is well for a little while, then I get a "Can't connect to IMAP server, connection on port 143 has timed out" error message.
    Any thoughts / ideas?

  • Intermittent connection issue

I am having connection issues again as I did 2 years ago. The connection gets dropped intermittently. Sometimes the modem has a red light on the internet indicator and other times the DSL blinks and won't sync. The tech gave me a new modem, but I still have the same problem. 2 years ago the problem got resolved when they switched me to another line. I keep a spreadsheet on the tranceiver stats. The margin dB varies 20.2/21 (down/up) to 8.8/21 to 18.1/29 for instance. Line attenuation stays pretty much the same between 51.4/29 (down/up) to 49.4/29. Tranmit power varies 9.3/11.9 to 15.7/11.9 to 16.2/11.9 (down/up). I cannot seem to get someone to fix the line issues coming to my home. How can I get this fixed?
    Craig

No, it is still ongoing. I have a field tech working on it. I was away for some days so couldn't respond. As you know about the intermittant connect problem because of an unconditioned line. Also, I was unable to obtain 1.5Mb/sec connect speed and Verizon only gave me 1.1Mb/sec. This week I am unable to connect at that speed and is now only 0.928Mb. I don't know why this happened, but I can tell you I am unsatified with this connection. I am really unhappy with not being able to get a measly 1.5Mb/sec connection speed when the rest of the world is getting 50Mb/sec or greater speeds.
As a stock holder of Verizon I am even more disappointed in their neglect with the DSL service. I am working on a letter to investor relations on this matter.

  • RV320 Intermittent connectivity issues

We have been having intermittent problems with internet (WAN) connectivity on my wife's small business computer network.  Connectivity will be fine for a day or so, and then we will have a period of poor and frequently interrupted connectivity.  I have our router (a Cisco RV320K9NA) set to send me notifications about problems, and when our internet connection is disrupted, I receive the following notifications from the router:
    Mar 28 07:31:11 2015 routeree1df4 Network Log:  NSD FAIL WAN[1]
    Mar 28 07:32:11 2015 routeree1df4 Network Log:  NSD SUCCESS WAN[1]
    Mar 28 07:36:05 2015 routeree1df4 Network Log:  NSD FAIL WAN[1]
    Mar 28 07:39:08 2015 routeree1df4 Network Log:  NSD SUCCESS WAN[1]
    Mar 28 07:39:48 2015 routeree1df4 Network Log:  NSD FAIL WAN[1]
    Mar 28 07:40:58 2015 routeree1df4 Network Log:  NSD SUCCESS WAN[1]
The above is a sample, there are many more notifications of this type in the log.
Our network configuration is as follows:
Our internet provider's cable modem is connected to our router, which is connected to a Netgear ProSafe 24 port switch.  All of our network devices and computers are connected to the switch.
We have tried many things to fix this problem.  Our internet provider (Time Warner) has replaced their cable modem. We have replaced our router.  My wife increased the speed of our network connection based on usage data from the internet provider. I have replaced the ethernet cable between the router and the cable modem.
We have not been able to reproduce the connectivity problem when we directly connect a laptop to the cable modem, so the internet provider has decided that the issue must be internal to our network and/or router, washing their hands of the whole problem.
I'm technically proficient, but I'm no networking technician, so I'm looking for help and suggestions to fix this problem.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you can offer.

No, it was wireless. Here is the same test run whilst wired in. I don't understand this though. I wasn't complaining about the speed? I was complaining about the general intermittent connectivity issues we experience, and the regular lack of availability the service provides. Perhaps these are standard tests you have to run beforehand?
The last time I complained about my connectivity issues was in February. If you have access to the ticketing tool, you'll be able to see the nature of my complaint. It was ticket number: VOL051-4263008159178. Something was "done at the exchange" and someone logged onto my HH3 and changed the wireless channel and that "fixed" it. Trouble is, it's been the same ever since. We have a few hours where the connection is stable, then we'll start to get packet losses when trying to connect to sites like Google.co.uk, Bt.com etc etc.
I'm no expert, but this is clearly more than an issue with the wireless channel and some spurious problem at the exchange. This is a continuing nightmare for us which is preventing us from accessing the internet for hours at a time and therefore taking full advantage of the services we pay a lot of money for!

  • Intermittent connectivity issues

So I had a Motorola SB 6120 modem working for over 4 years with Comcast and all of the sudden I start getting intermittent connectivity issues at night (it could be during the day as well, but I am actively working and doing school work at night). The issue comes and goes. I call Comcast and they swear up and down its my modem - which I dont believe since Im the connectivity issues are not fixed by resseting it, just waiting it out. I go ahead and get a new modem (SB6141) and router - spending over $200 and guess what - still having the identical issue. I call in and the support person states that as far as the modem goes everything is fine but the signal is dropping (same issue, two different conclusions after a good amount of arguing on my end and $200 I wont see back). So I tech comes back but I have to be at work and leave my wife and brother in law at home to make sure he comes by. When I get home apparently the tech had stated that "the modem was not correctly registered". That means that my other modem wasnt? And that an uncorrectly registered modem works from time to time? ... Really? So I try to do a live chat since again, I have to work and cant waste my entire day waititing for comcast to fess up and admit their service is the issue. And here is the part of the conversation in which I basically gave up hope on getting anywhere:Akemi: Sometimes if your modem is plugged to Comcast outlet you should be also receiving inetrnet signals, but then becasue if it is not properly registered you will be expriencing intermittent connection.----------------------------------------------------------MARCOS: ok, let me see if i can get itMARCOS: meanwhile, can u tell me how my modem may have been "incorrectly registered" and still working for over 30 daysAkemi: Much appreciated, thank you so much.MARCOS: and how that can be the cause of intermittent issues - since it seems like a lieAkemi: Sometimes if your modem is plugged to Comcast outlet you should be also receiving inetrnet signals, but then becasue if it is not properly registered you will be expriencing intermittent connection.MARCOS: that makes no sense. that modem was not working WHATSOEVER until I called. the modem shouold have been blocked by the MAC addressMARCOS: should*MARCOS: otherwise any1 can get comcast tv, plug in a router from best buy and have internetAkemi: Thanks for the info.---------------------------------------------------------Can someone help? • Intermittent wired network connection on HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

I've searched the forums and I haven't seen a problem/solution quite like I am experiencing, so I am starting a new thread.
I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 that will only keep an intermittent connection to my router.  Lately, it has been more often not than connected.  I usually have to disconnect and connect the Ethernet cable to the back of the printer several times before it will show a connection, and then, only for a little while before it drops the connection again.  When connected, everything works fine (printing, faxing, scanning).
When the printer is disconnected, the network status has a yield sign with an exclamation point inside.  There are no blinking lights on the back where the network cable connects.  When it connects (by me plugging and unplugging), the lights start flickering.  I've tried several cables including known good ones to rule that possibility out.  Cycling the power has no consistent affect.  The router is otherwise working fine.
Here are other details that might help:
Model:  HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 (N911a)
    Firmware: up-to-date
    Software drivers: up-to-date
    Router: CISCO E3200
    Connection: wired network
Static IP address reserved (not connecting with DHCP)
    MAC filtering off
Main Computer: Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    Wired Connection to the router
Can someone suggest a solution?  My best guess is that the network card in the printer is bad, but I am willing to try an easier solution.  Thanks.

Hi, are there any other peripherals using the RJ45 ports on the router?
Are you using a static IP address for the 8600?

  • Intermittent Disconnects for clients of 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services

Hello, I have an issue that I am trying to work on for a client who is experiencing intermittent disconnected sessions when logged into a Windows 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services (RDS) server.
As I mentioned, the disconnect is intermittent in nature and almost appears to be network related, although I cannot find any data in the Application, System, or application specific logs to support that.
The RDS server overall does not exhibit any error, but the user's session is briefly interrupted and then restored.  I would like to be able to gain some additional information about what is going on under the hood, but I am having trouble finding any
details on how to turn on debug logging for Terminal Services (er, RDS) on 2008 R2.
Can someone provide some additional details on what kind of logging or other means that I can take on this server in order to gain some additional insight?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi,
There are certain reason for which the client get disconnect from the server. The following are some of the commonly seen symptoms:
    • You may be limited in the number of users who can connect simultaneously to a Remote Desktop session or Remote Desktop Services session.
    • You may have a port assignment conflict.
    • You may have an incorrectly-configured Authentication and Encryption setting.
    • You may have a certificate corruption.
    More information.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2477176
If you want to have log for login\logoff for the client on server end then you can get the information from below log.
    Event Viewer>Application and Service Logs>Microsoft>Windows>TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager>Operational
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Remote Play Connection Issues - WiFi / Bluetooth Conflict / Interference?

I have been looking forward to this feature on my Z3c and it was finally released yesterday. Connecting to my PS4 and using the touch screen controls works flawlessly. However, as soon as I connect my DualShock 4 via Bluetooth, lag and connection issues occur. Turn off Bluetooth, and everything is fine again.
I experienced a simular issue with a Moga Bluetooth controller a few weeks ago - after it was paired with my device, my Wifi connections became intermittant and unstable, even when the device was disconnected. Eventually fixed the issue by deleting the controller pairing from the Bluetooth settings.
My point is, is there an issue with Bluetooth and Wifi conflicting with each other? I have tried changing settings on the router but I am convinced the issue is on my phone. Bluetooth works fine, Wifi is fine, but both together I believe there is an issue.
Does anyone else experience the same problem, or have a fix? I was looking forward to Remote Play with a DS4 but at the moment it is unplayable.

    @pit77
I recommend that you first try it with your existing access point/router. Remote Play also works over 2.4GHz but WiFi performande depends on many factors like the access point, reception, channel width, other networks and devices that transmits on the same band (for example bluetooth devices, baby monitors, micro waves, wireless keyboards). With a 5GHz access point it's less likely to have performance issues as this band usually less crowded.

this still didn't fix iPad connectivity after updating to iOS 6.0.1 !!! intermittent wi-fi connection, even with a direct line-of-sight to the router.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

  • Connectivity issue from only one computer

Let me start by saying i have 10 servers and about 15 workstations on this network. only one computer (my main computer) has this issue. all other computers work as they should.
This problem started to happen recently and randomly affecting RDP connections to 2 of 10 servers and now affects 5 of 10 servers. I am not sure i did anything to make the problem worse. Additionally I at first suspected it a DNS issue as connecting to the
ip address of effected computer as opposed to host name allows connection but as I said the issue is only on one computer. Looking at the logs below i am stumped.

I'm experiencing the same issue, intermittently, when remotely using two of our eight SBS 2003 network computers via Remote Web Workplace. The two SBS computers are Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit machines.
Intermittently, the RWW connection is lost and I'm returned to the RWW page with the message "VBScript Remote Desktop Disconnected...an internal error has occurred.
When the issue occurs, the Event logs on both SBS computers contain the Event ID 20499, Remote Desktop Services has
taken too long to load the user configuration from server XXXXX. The event is logged at the time the RWW connection is lost.
As the issue occurs with RDP sessions to Windows Server 2012 R2 (based on reports from others) and, in my case, SBS 2003,
perhaps the common element is Windows 8.1.

  • Connection issue help

I have intermittent connection issues.  I have been calling and calling.....  We did finally get someone who spoke English.  A "technician" came to the house and found nothing wrong with the connections, other than to tell me that in our apartment we have copper wiring and that there is nothing that they can do.  Although, my neighbor, who has Charter, has never had an issue.
I overlooked the fact that the "technician" that I'm paying the service for, only glanced at my computer and told me that there was nothing wrong.  Now I still left with a connection that constantly drops, is still an issue.
I called again, only to reach someone I can barely understand, who tells me to disconnect the connection that goes from the modem to the computer and switch them.  Uhm, okay.  Just for fun, i switched the cords (spun em around) .   I asked what purpose this would serve as I'm using the same cable?  Obviously, this did not change anything.
I have called several times and am left on hold.
I called once again to inquire why my Verizon in Home Agent would not connect to the internet. Although, I did have internet service.  The agent  said that the In Home Agent would come on only if I had a connection issue...This makes absolutely no sense.
Lastly, after being so frustrated, I managed to spill a drink (fortunately, I had not yet reached for the bottle of liquor).  This brings us to a new dilemma, the computer now does not turn on. (using the laptop)... I have the insurance for a replacement/repair of my computer.  I again called Verizon, no one has heard of this service, but yet I pay a monthly fee.  "It's not something they handle" but they are willing to TRANSFER me AGAIN.
    {edited for privacy}

This is DSL-101 - but make sure your phone cord is no longer than 12 feet long ... and not one of those cheap "ribbon" phones cords. It's not the ability of the signal to reach the modem - rather the ability of your modem to transmit through the length of the phone cord. (You would be amazed how many people how 50' phones cords going to their modems). The shorter the phone cord, the better.

  • My brand new mac pro always had Internet connection issues at school. WHY is that? I see the school's Internet working perfectly fine on other PC's, but there is never a day where my mac doesn't have Internet connection issues at school. How do I fix it?

I got my mac pro in the middle of August. School started the week after. Internet was working perfectly fine at home. But at school, I never had a good connection. Sometimes on the good days I get a connection when I'm sitting at the exact spot in class I always sit at. It's ridiculous and it's frustrating. I invested my money into this laptop and I'm beginning to regret it. I thought it was the school's Internet, but I don't see Internet issues with other PC users. It's most frustrating on registration days and I'm trying to register for my classes before it gets taken, but again... Internet connection issues. It's random. Majority of the time, it doesn't work at all. I've done Network Diagnosis and turning WiFi off then turning it on again. I've done everything I could. I put my money on this laptop and it was a lot of money. I could have bought an 800 dollars laptop and I would have Internet connection anywhere on campus. So, I don't want to continue everyday to regret on buying this laptop every time I try to connect to the Internet at school or Starbucks or anywhere else. How do I fix this? What's the problem ?
At school, I heard this guy had a problem with Internet connections too and he owned a new mac book pro. He said something like Apple messed up on something, but he fixed it. If I knew mac book pro's had these issues I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's freezing on me every other day. It's ridiculous. But what concerns me the most is the Internet connection. So someone please tell me what can I do next to prevent the problem? Am I doing something wrong maybe?

    Hi Kevin,
I'm using an XLR input mic which is connected to the phantom power enabled XLR mic socket on a USB M-Audio M-Track. The M-Track is connected by USB to the Mac Pro - so effectively I've got an M-Audio USB soundcard with a mic input.  I've also tried a microphone that is a straight XLR to USB cable (guessing with some soundcard chip buried in the usb plug) but that also yields the same effect of bad latency, intermittent quality, stuttering and repeating and echoing (without the speakers on during record so its not feedback).
The mic works absolutely fine with other recording applications I have on the mac at the moment - albeit non-adobe ones (tested it on the EasyAudioRecorder - and it lives up to its name. it's easy)
I will try with Audition and report back, but sitting here right now I can imagine it would work fine with audition too - it just seems to be the way premiere is set up for recording into the timeline is a bit sketchy.  I'm willing to accept it might well be a quirk with the new Mac Pro trashcan - I'm not weighting all the woes on premiere.
Any thoughts or am I out of luck to sit with my fingers crossed for a fix in the next round of updates?
    Nathan.

  • I have pluged a portable battery to the USB and my macbook pro stopped working after that, right before it shut down there was a message on the screen that said something like " USB device is withdrawing so much power, please disconnect and connect again?

I have plugged a portable battery to the USB and my macbook pro stopped working after that, right before it shut down there was a message on the screen that said something like " USB device is withdrawing so much power, please disconnect and connect again?
if the device I connected have caused this, shouldn't the macbook itself have some type of protection that should prevent this from happening.
because when I took it to an apple certified maintenance shop, the guy said that now it could only run while connected to the power. it won't run on batteries. and that I have to change the motherboard.
can I just replace the damaged part only, would apple consider this as a design issue and they could pay for it, or should I just buy a new motherboard for 800$.
    Help.

    BB1B2,
The problem is in finding a tech shop that will/can do board level repairs on Macs. They are few. And I certainly wouldn't spend $800 on a new logic board - I would replace the computer if I had to pay that much!
You could call around to a few repair shops and see if they feel competent to isolate the problem and do a board level repair - but I'm afraid, in the end, that your search will be futile.
    Sorry,
    Clinton

  • Ipod connection issues with itunes

i know, i am the one-thousandth person to write in about a connection issue, but i just bought a 8gb nano. my pc is recognizing the ipod, but itunes does not automatically start.
instead, if i manually try to start up itunes, it either doesn't start at all, or when it does, it immediately locks up. or it will try as hard as it can to sync and then locks up.
once i disconnect the ipod from the usb port, itunes will come back to life. i have done EVERYTHING the support pages say, reinstalled itunes, dumped temp files, stopped conflicting software...everything short of sending in the new ipod to be serviced. please if you have run into this particular problem and/or you know how to fix this issue, please respond
i don't really want to send a brand-freaking-new ipod off to be serviced b/c i think this is a software issue.

    Hello lalajamjam,
It sounds like you've done a rather good job of troubleshooting already. Other than testing to see if the issue is user-specific per ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717 ) and possibly testing the Nano on another computer, there are few additional steps to try prior to getting it serviced.

  • HP Slate 21 Pro: WiFi connection issues

    Hi,
I recently ordered two HP Slate 21 Pro devices. Unfortunately, both of them have WiFi connection issues. After some time the properly configured WiFi connection will be dropped, which results in connectionless devices. The WiFi AP is disabled after this, and so a timed reconnect will not succeed.
After inspecting the Logcat I found following lines:
    12-05 08:56:58.939 V/EthernetStateTracker(675): report interface is up for eth0
12-05 08:56:58.939 I/EthernetStateTracker(675): interface up event, kick off connection request
12-05 08:56:58.939 I/EthernetStateTracker(675): interface up but ethernet is disabled, stop this interface
    12-05 08:56:58.939 I/EthernetStateTracker(675): stop dhcp and interface
    12-05 08:56:58.947 V/EthernetStateTracker(675): report interface is up for eth0
12-05 08:56:58.948 I/EthernetStateTracker(675): interface up event, kick off connection request
12-05 08:56:58.948 I/EthernetStateTracker(675): interface up but ethernet is disabled, stop this interface
12-05 08:56:58.954 I/EthernetStateTracker(675): report new state DISCONNECTED on dev eth0
    12-05 08:56:58.954 V/EthernetStateTracker(675): update network state tracker
12-05 08:56:58.954 V/EthernetStateTracker(675): Ethernet is disabled, ignore state change event
    12-05 08:56:59.080 D/ConnectivityService(675): ConnectivityChange for WIFI: DISCONNECTED/DISCONNECTED
    12-05 08:56:59.080 D/ConnectivityService(675): Attempting to switch to BLUETOOTH_TETHER
    12-05 08:56:59.080 V/EthernetStateTracker(675): reconnect +++
12-05 08:56:59.080 D/ConnectivityService(675): Attempting to switch to ETHERNET
    12-05 08:56:59.094 D/ConnectivityService(675): resetConnections(wlan0, 3)

12-05 08:56:59.208 D/ConnectivityService(675): handleInetConditionChange: no active default network - ignore
     Especially this line:
    12-05 08:56:59.080 D/ConnectivityService(675): ConnectivityChange for WIFI: DISCONNECTED/DISCONNECTED
Is this issue already known? Has someone a solution for me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

    That really shouldn't affect it.
I'm a little stumped because I haven't seen this issue with this device before. The only similar issue I found was this, and it's unresolved.
Have you tried doing a hard reboot of the Slate 21?
I work on behalf of HP (But this isn't my job)
