HT2589 Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance.

When trying to update two apps on my MacBook Pro, my Apple ID is being rejected and I'm getting this message: Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance.
Anyone have a solution?

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguation folder to the Trash.
Try the App Store.

I tried to update, but my apple ID does not allowing me , always giving me 'Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance '. I changed my apple ID passwords, still same. help me please

Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Log out, log back in, and test. If there's no improvement, continue.
    Step 2
    Reset your computer’s PRAM.

I am getting this error message when trying to download Mountain Lion. Previous version of my OS X is 10.7.4 and I already checked and double checked my username and password (which I can use fine on iTunes).
    I am extremely dissapointed, #fail.

On your other computer sign into the App Store, then go to the Purchases tab and download Yosemite, Then download the program below. It will make a bootable install USB stick which you can use to reboot the computer/install.

  • Yosemite upgrade, now this "Device or computer could not be verified"

    What the ****??
My upgrade to Yosemite on my MacPro (which meets the minimum requirements for install) has been a complete nightmare.  After crashing during install, I finally had to erase my primary hard drive and install Yosemite with my desktop hooked up to my laptop in Target Disk Mode.
Now that I have it installed and restored from my Time Machine Back Up, I am getting this error from the Apple Store:
"Your device or computer could not be verified.  Contact support for assistance."
I checked my iCloud information in System Preferences and I'm still logged in.  I attempted to verify my account in in the preferences and it accepted my password but then did nothing.  I attempted to log out from iCloud (deleting all my information from my computer) and it puttered out failing to completely log me out because of some issue with Mail. After taking care of those issues, I attempted to sign into my iCloud account in System Prefs and got the error message:
"You can't sign in at this time.  Try signing in again."
Perplexed, I attempted to sign in to iCloud via Safari.  No problem - my Apple ID & Password both worked - so now I know that my information is correct.  I checked every setting under the "My Apple ID" (applied.apple.com) and double checked every bit of information there and every thing checks out.
WHY AM I HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND HOW DO I FIX IT NOW?

    So here's a quick update.
Finally got through to someone via Support Chat.  Essentially, they surmise that the issue is that my computer installed the wrong support files since I was installing it to a hard drive via target disk mode.  In other words, the files that were installed on to my Mac Pro were actually those of my MacBOOK Pro leading my computer to have one **** of an identity crisis.
Their proposed fixed was to shut down, boot up to the internet recovery module (⌘ R at start up), use the disk utility to erase my drive (again), then use the same tool to re-install Yosemite (10.1). Well, guess what, this doesn't work either.   After erasing my drive (AGAIN!!!), I tried to reinstall, but got the error message:
"This is not a supported method of installing the operating system."  (then why the **** was this method created in the first place?)
I tried to reboot from an install USB drive, but the system no longer seems to support the "boot from usb" anymore, because the system fails with each attempt.
Not really sure what the **** to do now.

  • HT1338 my computer could not be verified

recently i purchase a game named GTA san andreas from app store and it work perfectly everytime i open this game. but now, when i try to open it again. the computer wanted me to 'sign in to use this application on this computer'
after i put the user name and password. failed. saying 'your device or computer could not be verified'
    WHAT HAPPEN?

It probably is a multiplayer game that works over the internet with their own login system.    If you haven't signed up on their website with a login, it may not let you play the game.  If it is not, contact the developer and tell them of the issue.  In the meantime, you can contact the Mac App Store billing for a refund, if that's not the type of game you desire:

  • Your computer could not be verified Mac App Store and FaceTime

    Hi All
I've been trying through several forums for a long time to find a solution for my problem before giving up, I'll go down to the point:
I have an iMac Intel 20" early 2008 (I can provide more detailed specs when required). I am using Mac OSX Lion installed from a usb and prior used Snow Leopard. They problem has been consistent thru all versions, same symptoms, same all.
    1. Whenever I try to login to Mac App Store I get the famous: "your computer could not be verified, please contact support for assistance". FaceTime also does not login, promptying a "server error, try later".
    2. Contacted support, and after 16 emails back and forth all I was told at the end was: "I am able to log in into your mac app store account from this side after resetting your account,is there anything I can do for you today".... (!!!!????)
    3. There has been a problem parallel to that, and although I am not sure they are related anyhow I need to point it out. My ethernet port stopped working and there is no way to create any connection through it. I can still use wireless quite well (reason why I still keep my machine). After sending the machine to repairs, diagnose was that it could be a problem on the logic board and to fix it may require to replace LB entirely. So I decided not to go for it and keep the machine only with wireless connection.
So I have tried every single solution found (so far...) on google and forums to no avail: a) deleting .plist, b) resetting network configs and creating new locations, c) resetting PRAMs (not sure if it solve anything, but tried anyway) and others. The problem still persists with the same symptoms.
I can login into iTunes store and buy applications from computer, iPhone and iPad, which makes me think that my credentials are valid, alas, I logged into this forum using them.
I also tried creating a new account at App Store, when I request it through the Application, the "little fan that advises you to wait" appears, but suddenly dissapear with no warning or message at all (!!!!????). It is like you never requested anything in first place.
Obviously I can still use my machine for internet and stuff, but my ability to purchase/use any Apple software is seriously restricted. I cannot purchase any software anymore if AppStore is going to be the main way to acquire it (which I think it will).
    So, my big questions are:
    1) Is this hardware problem (ethernet, logic board, connection ports) remotely related to the machine authentication process when using MacApp Store and FaceTime through Apple?
    2) Is there a way to fix this through software, before I consider replacing the machine? (Please take into account that I have already tried TS1811, deleting .plist files, resetting network, creating new locations from scratch... I basically searched thoroughly on google, forums and tips and tried all reasonable found recommendations before posting).
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Livia and Huevoos (eggs??) for your interest in this post.
In a nutshell, I haven't been able to solve this. I gave up on Apple support after they proved useless.
As Huevoos suggested, and I confirmed it time and again after browsing thru endless forums, it seems that the user validation routine for the Mac App Store is done by looking into your network settings, which in my case are either incomplete or erroneous due to the broken-down ethernet. (I am still waiting for somebody more experienced in this forum to contradict or explain this).
So, because I still have wireless connection, I can use my machine for day-to-day chores, have not been able to purchase anything up to this date in the Mac App Store though. I'm waiting for either a software update that could correct this (Mountain Lion??? there's no guarantee only hope) or the moment when my machine will need to be replaced by a new one with a functional ethernet.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help. But I'm pretty much in the same situation as you guys.
    Live long and prosper.

RDS Farm set up as follows 3- RD Session Host/Web servers set up as network load balanced  and 2-RD Connection broker servers set up as clustered servers. I access the RdWeb farm from the internet via VPN clientless. I can get into
RdWeb with no problems, however I have few clients that can connect to RdWeb portal but once they open any application icon the error gets displayed "the remote computer could not be found. please contact your helpdesk ".  The client
pc is Windows 8 with IE11 and Windows 7 with IE 10.  I could not find anything that related to some users that could not connect. Help!

    Hi,
Firstly please provide some more information from your side.
    1.  Does the other user can able to work properly without any issue?
    2.  Did you install the RD gateway role to allow the external user to access the internal resource? If so, please help to make sure you configure the FQDN for the RD gateway, and the external users can resolve this name on the internet.
    3.  Can you telnet the RD host server (like telnet server name 3389) to check whether the RD host server is available for another server?
    4.  Did you try to temporarily disable all of firewall and anti-virus to test if this issue persists?
You can configure RD Web Access behavior on IIS manager as per below.
IIS Manager Console > Default Web Site > RDWeb > Pages > Application Settings > DefaultTSGateway > add the "FQDN of the Remote Desktop Gateway"
After finishing all above steps, please launch the RemoteApp again to see if the same issue still exists. For more information, you can refer beneath article.
Configure Remote Desktop Web Connection Behavior
    Hope it helps!

When I click on free upgrade to Mavericks it says 'we could not complete your purchase, The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.' What should I do? Thanks

Several causes for this problem have been reported. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when it's resolved.
    Step 1
If possible, test on another network, such as a public hotspot (if the computer is portable) or the hotspot created by a mobile device. A network gateway that blocks some traffic, most likely on a company or university network, could be causing the error.
    Step 2
    Back up all data.
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If any proxy options are selected, make a note of them and then deselect them. You don’t need to change the bypass or FTP settings. Click OK and then Apply. Test. The result may be that you can't connect to any web server. Restore the previous settings if that happens.
    Step 3
Rebuild the Spotlight index. If you try to search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, there will be an indication that indexing is in progress.
    Step 4
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

After getting the dreaded gray/blue screen, I tried to run disk repair on the internal disk. I got an error message saying "Disk Utility can't repair this disk and restore your backed-up files. The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely." What do I do now? This is an iMac and I'm running 10.6.8.

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it. See below for how to clone a drive.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
You may be able to backup your data if you have an erased external drive you can use. Before you do the above but after you have opened Disk Utility you can try to clone your drive:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Now this will only work if the drive is accessible and can be cloned by Disk Utility. Otherwise, you would need to access your drive from another Mac that you can connect via Firewire - Target Disk Mode.

Searching for this error turned up different solutions but none of them worked.
One mentioned OVM not being able to handle spaces in vm names but this is not a working solution as most of the machines are just regular names without spaces or special characters.
Also interesting, sometimes this error does not turn up when powering on BUT the machine just powers off again and returns to its turned off state. Next power on the error returns.
OS types vary from S10, Win XP and RedHat so a possible connection to the error being the host OS is not there.
Harddrive types are set to auto. The vm.cfg's of functioning machines do not differ from non functioning machines besides the actual vm name in the vm.cfg
Any idea to this error or how to solve it ?
