HT4207 How do I move the trash can icon up to the top of my gmail bar on my iPad2?

Using gmail on my iPad 2:  How do I move the trash can icon up to the bar at the top of my gmail?

You can't with the default Mail app.  Try using the Gmail app... much easier to use and the Trash is easily accessible, even with lots of labels.

  • How to make my mail go into the trash when I select the trash can icon

Nonsensically the default behavior for mail from google (setup either as push or fetch) is for the trash can icon to archive the mail (drop it into all mail) rather trash it. I was able to correct this behavior for the fetch mail account but for the mail setup as push I see no option. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
What kind of drugs were the designers on where they thought I would like to either archive all my junk mail or better yet have to login from my desktop and re-review it and then delete it again. That sounds GREAT for productivity! ***?

This is definitely an apple problem and not a google issue as plainly demonstrated by the fact that there is a setting located at:
settings -> mail, contacts, calenders -> "account name" -> Advanced -> Deleted Mailbox
It defaults to "all mail" but you can correct it to "Trash"
The option simply isn't there for accounts setup as push. I am absolutely dumbfounded by this. How can they not fix such a simple yet ridiculous problem? There is no functionality to delete mail from my iphone.
An option that's there when the account is IMAP but not there when the account is Exchange, and somehow that must be the iPhone's fault? When creating a calendar event for a 'local' calendar on the iPhone, I can set two alerts, but when I create a calendar event for an Exchange calendar, I don't have that option and am limited to just one. You might think that's plainly an Apple problem, but you'd be wrong since Exchange calendar events don't support multiple alerts.
Point is, this is more likely a Google issue than an Apple one. Note that Google Sync and Gmail push email are beta products. There are a whole bunch of known issues that pertain to Google Sync and different mobile devices.
But, you cam blame it on Apple if it makes you feel better...

  • How do you delete a picture that does not have the trash can icon to do so.

I Am trying to delete a picture and it does not have the trash can icon.

You have to sync it off of the device using iTunes. That is likely how it got there in the first place.

  • How do I add a Trash Can Icon?

How do I configure my iPad Mail so that I can see the Trash Can icon amongst the reply, forward, compose, archive, etc. icons?

I assume that it's a Gmail account if you have archive, in which case you can chose in the account's settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars whether you have archive or a trashcan, you can't have both : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4207

  • Emptying the trash can in iphoto causes the grey exclamation point.

Shortly after buying my new mac I made the cardinal error of manipulating some of my photos directly through finder, and ended up totally messing up my iphoto library. It's basically fine now, after much heartache - and I back up disc copies regularly and I also use time machine now. However, the other day I noticed there was a ridiculous amount of photos in my iphoto trash can - so I emptied the trash can in iphoto. I immediately got the grey exclamation point of death back in probably one third of my pictures. I restored the library from time machine, and the ex points went away, but does this mean that the link is bouncing THROUGH my trash can to get to the file? Is there any way for me to safely empty that trash can without having to once again rebuild my photo library?? (I'm a total shutterbug and don't want or need that hassle...)
I'm running the new iphoto 09 - but the problem was there before I installed the upgrade.
Something tells me OldToad is going to reply to this one... (At least I'm hoping...)
Thanks for any and all input.

Well hello, Old Toad, thought you might find us.
Terence, last night I backed up my library in time machine, emptied the trash can in iphoto (took five or six attempts, iphoto kept shutting down) and then rebuilt the library. Just an fyi, when I said ridiculous amount, I meant it - there are 26000 plus photos in my trash can. (I know why, but I think it's unimportant to this issue).
When I rebuilt it found 13000 plus photos to reinstate. I said ok, and around three hours later it was all said and done. No change, I still have the grey exclamation point of death on about a third of my photos in the events. The reinstated photos are all in an album, not an event - I can't seem to move them from the album into an event, and there aren't a lot of them there anyways that I'm all that attached to.
    SO...
I restored the backup copy from time machine. Tonight, I will try OldToad's recommendation and try to put these photos back into their original homes, but with that many pics It may be Tuesday or so before you here back from me...
Wish me luck, thanks SO MUCH for the suggestions, and I'll keep you posted.

  • The trash can icon has disappeared in my mail, and I can not trash any massages. How do I get it back?

I was trying to delete mail earlier today ,and messagers wouldn't delete. One time as I clicked on the trash icon, it disappeared and now I can't seem to get it back or erase any email mesages - HELP!

Do you have Time Machine enabled.   If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder.   Then restore.

  • Why does the trash can icon not show that there's trash in it anymore?   :(

Is this a new feature of Mavericks or is it only my computer? I really hope it's NOT Mavericks 'cause thought it's a minor detail, it's one of those things that make a Mac well, a Mac. I've grown very fond of those little touches.

  • Having problem deleting all but one particular mail from the iPhone 4S mail inbox. I can delete mail either by the trash can or using edit, selecting the mail message and deleting.  However there is this one mail message that will not go away. Any ideas?

I am having a problem deleting all but one particular mail message from my inbox. I delete by either using the trash can icon for individual mail, or using edit, selecting the mail message (s) and clicking delete.  However there is this one mail message that will not go away regardles of what I do including deleting all from the trash.  Any ideas?

I get that every once in a while on my 3GS, and that's what I do to get rid of it. Probably not a bad idea to power down the phone every so often, anyway, gets rid of any crud waiting to cause a bug.
Glad to hear that it worked for you.

  • Messages: won't delete, Trash Can icon becomes Camera icon

I have noticed that since about iOS 8.1, both my iPhone and iPad have trouble deleting old text messages.  I will go back and select old messages that I no longer need, one by one, then touch the Trash Can icon on the bottom left of the message window.  After a confirmation to delete, I go back to delete more.  After either a certain number of messages, or a certain number of attempts, the Trash Can icon changes into a Camera icon, and I can't delete the messages I've just selected.  The only solution so far that works is to close the Messages app (a default iOS app), and reload it.  But, that only works for a a certain number of messages or attempts, too
Has anyone else had this problem?  I think Apple should fix this in their next release.

  • Deactivate trash can icon for attachments

    Hi,
I am trying to deactivate the trash can icon during the approval of invoices. I have found where I can deactivate the icon, that is in SE80 > Internet Service > BBP_PDH_TEXT 100.
I have commented out the line:
            `if ( (GV_MODE_TEXT=="E") || (GV_MODE_TEXT=="C") )`
                  `if (GV_INTERNAL_ATTACH_MODE=="X")`
                      `if (GS_ATTACH-INTERNAL_IND[j])`
                       `TD(align="center")`
                        <a href="javascript:deleteAttachment('`GS_ATTACH-GUID[j]`')"><img src="`mimeURL(~service="bbpglobal", ~language="",  ~name="images/icon/trash.gif")`"
                        alt="`BBP_TEXT_GLOBAL-DELETE_TXT.label`" title="`BBP_TEXT_GLOBAL-DELETE_TXT.label`" border=0></a>
                      `else`
                       `TD(align="center")`
                      `end`
                  `else`
                    `TD(align="center")`
    <!--                  <a href="javascript:deleteAttachment('`GS_ATTACH-GUID[j]`')"><img src="`mimeURL(~service="bbpglobal", ~language="",  ~name="images/icon/trash.gif")`"
                      alt="`BBP_TEXT_GLOBAL-DELETE_TXT.label`" title="`BBP_TEXT_GLOBAL-DELETE_TXT.label`" border=0></a> -->
                  `end`
            `end`
However this only achieves that when I add an attachment when I create the invoice, I can't then delete it because the icon's gone. Does anyone know of a way where I can only remove icon during invoice change and not during invoice create?
BTW, can you guys please be really specific as I am not actually a developer (my skills in coding are very limited as you can see)
    Thanks,
    Paula.

    Hi Paula,
You can keep only 1 condition in the template GV_MODE_TEXT=="C" i.e. CREATE mode.Hope this will keep the icon only for the create mode.
If this doesnt help, then may be you wil have to mdofiy the std code ..Include LBBP_PDH_TEXTF11 and Form modify_screen_tc--Here you can set your condition based on the field "gv_mode"...I.e. only for create mode you can have the attachment icon.
    Regards,
    Disha.

I imported an hour of video into iMovie HD and cut it down to a 33 sec clip, and emptied the trash.  When I save the project, the file size is 20Gb.  How can I save just the 33 sec clip?

Non-destructive editing is an important feature of iMovie HD 6.
iMovie preserves the entire copy of every clip you place into your movie in case you change your mind at a later stage.
So, if you have cut out one minute from a 45 minute clip, iMovie will have stored two complete copies of that clip. This is why is helps to set import as 3-5 minute clips rather than one huge chunk. As DV runs at 13GB per hour your project files can get very big.
One workaround is to complete the editing of a section of the movie, then export that to Quicktime: highlight the clip/s, choose Share-Quicktime, turn on Share selected clips only, and choose Full Quality from the pop-ip menu.
Once you have saved the stand-alone clip to your hard drive, you can re-import it into your project using the File/Import command, and delete the original long clip/s from the project.

Command-click all of the files you want to delete and don't actually move them to the Trash until you've gone through the entire folder.

  • How do you open the trash can in iMovie 4.0?

    2-17-07
How do you open the trash can in iMovie 4 to retrieve files?
    thanks,
    gil

    Gil:
Read this from imovie Guru, Karl Petersen:
"All may not be lost. A couple of things to keep in mind:
    A. Don't forget that iMovie uses non-destructive editing, so the source file of a clip is never shortened. (The source file for each clip is stored in the Media folder of the project. Each scene imported from the camera arrives with its own Media file. Source files can support one clip or many.)
If you split Clip A into two clips, then discard one of the clips and empty the trash, the original Media file is NOT discarded. The Media file itself is discarded ONLY if you discard the last clip that uses that source file. (In the past, iMovie would remove a portion of the Media file, shortening the file. iMovie HD NEVER shortens a Media file.)
So the lost video may still be there, just not be represented by a clip. To retrieve the video of a split clip, select the clip and choose Advanced > Restore Clip to Original. That returns it to its original length. (Or better still, Option-drag the clip to some other place on the timeline to make a copy of it, then Restore the copy.)
Emptying the trash does two things: 1) discards the CLIPS we've trashed -- clips perhaps created by splitting Clip A, and 2) sometimes it discards the source files for those clips. But #2 occurs only when no other project clip references that Media file. So long as any clip in the project relies on a Media file the file is not discarded. That means any clip that uses that source file can be restored to the file's original length and content.
So the stuff you lost may be gone. Or not.
    B. A backup copy of the project file exists inside the project package. It is a copy of the project file as it was BEFORE you last saved. If you've saved the project just once, it may help.
I suggest making a copy of the project and working on the copy. To make a copy, select the project in the Finder and choose Edit > Copy "your file name goes here".
To look inside the package, Control-click on the project icon and choose "Show Package Contents" from the popUp menu. You'll see several project files inside the package, one with a tilde (~) in its name. That's the backup. Double-click on it to open the project. The discarded clips may appear, or they may be gone. (This will NOT recover any Media files that have been discarded.)
If the backup project looks usable, quit iMovie without saving, move the current project file outside the package, change the name of the backup project file to match the current project file, open the project and save.
    Karl"
