Verizon, like virtually all CDMA carriers will not activate a device on their network that was not sold for use on their network.
To activate an iPhone on Verizon it must be purchased either directly from Verizon or from Apple (or an authorized reseller) for use on Verizons network.
On AT&T and all other GSM carrier iPhones (including Unlocked iPhones) the CDMA antenna is disabled.

How do I synch my old iTunes music with my new iPhone? I last had an iPhone 2 years ago and I have all my music on iTunes showing on my laptop. But I can't find any way to download it to my new iPhone.
Just connect the new iPhone and sync. You will need iTunes 10.7 or later to work with an iPhone 5, so if your version of iTunes is older, you'll need to upgrade. If you have iTunes 11, see:

How do i change my sender name that is appearing in my email that's incoming? it's correct on my iPhone email and my internet carriers email access site, but not on my imac email. for instance, when someone else gets my email...it says its from "mike Hoak". Yes you should be able too, this depends on the features on the phone but i would imagine something as new as the s5 would have this feature. However this would obviously be over standard sms rather than imessage.

I want to buy a new Iphone. I currently have an old 3g. I want to be sure that I don't lose the contacts on my phone. I have some numbers on there that are not on my contacts list that is on my ipad. How do I do this?
To sync contacts to your new iPhone you want to first
1: Connect iPhone 3G to computer with the latest version of iTunes (11.0.4.)
2: From there click under the device summary and look for your iPhone.
3: You should be on a page that should say summary on the top part of your phone where it'll say "Summary, info, music, applications, etc.
4: Click on Info and then you should see a box where you can put a check mark next to the words, "Sync Contacts."
5: Sync your contacts
Option 2:
1: Go to the summary page as described above and make a backup of your iPhone 3g onto your iTunes
2: connect your iPhone 5 and then open up the summary page
3: ON the summary page you want to click on "Restore backup" and select the backup you JUST made today (check the time stamp)
4: THis should put all your contacts, pictures, and settings from your old phone onto your new phone with no issues

I do appreciate your replies. When you talk about Exchange Server, do you mean"Microsoft Exchange" because that is what I used to set up mail on iPhone? I also tried iCloud, but i did not like the way you have to choose sending "from" each time you send an email. I currently use 2 accounts,one for business, one personal.
In response to your above reply; I went to "mailbox" - sycronise account", but nothing happened.
Am I missing some other setting perhaps. I did "enable mobile" on internet provider webmail. -
My iPhone 4S will charge on a laptop but not from a wall plug. I have tried different boxes and different USB cords from the wall but none work. These boxes and USB cords work for other family members with iPhones and a USB cord that works from the laptop won't work from 3 or 4 different wall boxes that work for others. I'm stumped :/
Update: It seems as though the phone will charge if I plug it in and then turn it off. It will not charge while the phone is on. Also iTunes will not recognize it, so I can't sync or anything. I read somewhere that it could be a fuse somewhere?? Or maybe the dock connector. Where is the best place to get this repaired?

I have an Apple iphone 4s and for the last 4 weeks I cannot download or update any apps. I have an iPad and a Mac book pro and the apps download on these devices fine. My phone tells me that I have 12 updates but when I press update all or update any individually nothing happens at all. It also does not ask me for my password any more but my iPad and mac book do.
I have signed in and out of the app store and the password is correct. I have tried both kinds of reboot but that did nothing. I have tried to update the apps by connecting phone to Mac book pro...it shows the apps being download on the Mac book and says it will sync them to my phone but it does not. Everything else on my phone works fine.
Any ideas ...Please!Thank you, this has resolved both the iphone and ipad problem immediately. I am concerned that I may have a problem with apps that I bought under my old AppleID as they will not be recognised. Any suggestions for this please?

I feel as though I am forced into repairing the iphone before I can backup the information (photos, videos, contacts). If the apple ID on the device is the same as the one on my iMac I do not understand why I have to unlock the iphone by typing in the 4 digit passcode. This is a little ******** as having the screen break seems to be the usual prpblem with the iphone, I want to be able to backup my files when I feel the obvious need to do so (eg. when it breaks)! I also believe I shouldn't have to use other apps for backing it up (which I obviously have to pay for).. I am rather angry with this issue.Okay folkes, you were right and I was wrong.. I admit it. But I was pretty mad though when I tryed to backup the last few contacts I needed for work and couldn't do so. Worst things are when something gets broken (by me or whatever) when there is an emergency. I needed the contacts off of that phone real fast and couldn't do it, thats what got me real mad. And btw I am a Russian living in Moscow and instead of having an official Apple store we have shopes called ReStore who resell apple devices with ridiculous prices, same thing with the repairs. It is cheaper to sometimes buy a new iphone then repair an old one.. So there.. but I repaired it and now happy again with my apple device.. Also I know the itunes and icloud are free and I do back it up, this time however I couldn't use them and had to try the iphone extractor app, which is not free. There.. hey guys i forgot the password for my iphone 4S and i keep on trying any passwords but now my iphone has deactivated it self and its asking me the password but i cant remember it and i dont have the last compter it syniced with!!! so what should i do ?
In your case your only solution is to restore it ( see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 ) and you may need to force it into restore mode to do that. This will wipe everything off it and reset it as new, without the passcode. You can then redownload purchased content, buy unless you have a sync'd copy of your contacts and photo's they will be gone.

I'd say you have a better chance of not loosing anything if you connect to your home computer-- but it's not certain. Yeah, I'd imagine it's very frustrating. I'm surprised Apple allows these huge updates outside of iTunes.

If you're getting a network connection timeout error when downloading the iPhone's iOS update, then try temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed.
