HT4623 After downloading update, the circle with the itunes logo and a usb picture with an arrow showed up. My phone will not go beyond this point. What happened?
I downloaded the update to my phone and now it won't go beyond the Itunes screen?
Happen on my iPad. When I plugged it back in to iTunes I got a message that it needed to restore. I tried restoring and got "Fatal Error 20008". At that point I called Apple. They are shipping me a new iPad.

I have had a 3GS for 2+ years. After upgrading to IOS 4 (now 4.3.5) I began having problems. Follow these steps to perform a recovery-mode restore on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
You may need to perform a recovery-mode restore if you experience any of the following situations on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The device:
Displays the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar for over ten minutes.
Restarts but never displays the Home screen.
Is no longer recognized in iTunes after an update or restore did not complete.
Automatically goes into recovery mode after having an issue while installing an update or performing a regular restore.
How to perform a recovery-mode restore
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is already showing the "Connect to iTunes" screen, please go to step 5.
Connect your USB cable to your computer but not to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until step 3.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button down, connect the USB cable to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. When this screen appears, you can release the Home button:
Note: If the image of a battery appears, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again. If you don't see the Connect to iTunes screen, try these steps 1 through 4 again.
iTunes should automatically open and display the following message:
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."Note: If iTunes not open after two minutes, please open iTunes yourself.
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you see the Connect to iTunes screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, follow these troubleshooting steps if you're using a Mac, or these steps for Windows computers.
Additional Information
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. -
I was trying to transfer itunes to my macpro from my iphone 4 and the phone froze up with the itunes logo and a usb cord looking like its suppose to plug into the itunes.. Now my phone wont go past that screen and i cant use the phone at all... Help if you can?
Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created. -

i solved my problem. i refer my iphone 5 to a local distributor. a repairman checked my iphone and i described my problem. he checked my battery. it was fine! then after an hour excavation around hardware solution he told me that the charging kit crashed because of heavy mobility usage!
yes. i did not covered my phone with any cover. the cpu pressure by ios update crashed the kit! now my phone get back after the kit changed and work finally. i restored my phone to ios 8.2 now.

If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. After updating my Iphone 4s to os 7.1.1 from 7.1 over the air, my phone went into recovery mode. Yet when I try to restore it with Itunes on my windows 7 laptop it says the network connection has been reset. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network is active, or try again later. My phone has the itunes logo and charger symbol on it, as well as an arrow pointing at the Itunes logo. After holding the sleep button down or even doing the hard reset the same screen comes up on my phone regardless of whether it is plugged in or not to my computer. I have turned my computer off and on again. It is plugged in and charging as it's battery life is very short. I also reset my modem and the same error message pops up. The only option on my computer when my phone is plugged in is to restore it. My firewall also allows Itunes through it. I have literally tried everything I know being someone who knows very little about technology. I also do not want to hear about how the update worked for other people. My phone has been in recovery mode for 5 hours at least now so it will just make me more frustrated if a bunch of people post about how the update worked for them.
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

We just did the iPhone update ios 6. The screen is frozen with the iTunes logo and a picture of a USB cale across the screen. none of the buttons respond.The phone does not recognize the apple USB when connected. We tried holding all the buttons down at the same time and also removed the SIM card and reinserted.
If it's not being recognized while it's in recovery mode in your itunes, try this
plug the phone into the usb attached to the computer
hold down the home and sleep/wake button on top simultaneously until the phone's screen goes black
When the screen goes black, release your finger from the sleep/week button on top but continue holding the home button until you see a dialog on the itunes screen on your computer that says 'itunes has detected a device in recovery mode'
then say 'ok,' select 'restore,' and say 'restore and update' -
Tried installing itunes for 64 bit Windowns on my PC several times but each time soon after download starts the box disappears and nothing happens. Any ideas?
11.Once the updates are done, make sure you are booted into Windows and call Microsoft support and explain the issue (doing a clean installation with an upgrade disk.) The issue is very common and not specific to Mac users so they will pass you to Tech support and help you activate your copy of Windows.
Not always. I tried. Easier to reinstall Windows 7 over itself, activated fine. Or just do the legal thing and buy full copy. Mac Pro owners that want dual processor support need Pro or Ultimate (Enterprise also) rather than Home Premium.
I would NOT use Boot Camp 3.1, it causes problems for number of Mac Pro owners, though maybe not all so unclear what/why) but just stay with Boot Camp 3.0x from the Snow Leopard DVD (which can have trouble with AppleHFS) -

I just finished downloading and attempting the install of ios 7 on my iPhone 5. I'm using the newest version of iTunes.
And now, I'm stuck at the screen with the iTunes logo and the plug. But no matter how many times I try, recovery mode will not work. My phone is currently useless unless I can figure this out.No problem, glad to help!
Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.
