That is the way it works. It designed to do that.
In addition to everything else you have to this other person's computer you would have to move your complete iTunes library over also. Only then will it recognize youriTouch.

First, you may want to choose to have the sidebar displayed for familiarity:

Afterwards, your device should be displayed if connected:
We'll want to click on it, and choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have the option to sync either the entire music library (for your first iPod), or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" (for the secondary device). Upon selecting this option, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. For audiobooks, you may need to do the above in the "Books" section. If you are using the computer that you normally backup and sync with, it shouldn't be asking for a passcode. If you are not, then you would need to enter it, and I understand that you cannot. There is no way around this requirement, so your only alternative is to use the last backup that you made of the device. Hopefully it wasn't that long ago.

But I want to maintain the same old Apple ID for my iPhone 4 and try to change the iPad 2's Apple ID to a new one so that I can get it to my kid to use it. Apple ID's are not device specific, so when you changed it on the iPad 2 it changed it on the iPhone 4 as well, since it's the same account still. What you need to do is create a second Apple ID (so you'll have two accounts, one for iPhone 4 and a seperate one for iPad 2).
To create a new Apple ID on your iPad 2:
1) Go into Settings > Store.
2) If you are already signed in, tap your Apple ID on the screen and you will be given a few options, one of which is to sign out of your account.
3) After you sign out, now click the "Sign in" button.
4) Tap "Create New Apple ID" and follow the instructions on-screen.

The chances are your replacement came with an older version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > About > Software Version... does it say something between 4.0 and 4.3.5?
Plug it in to a computer with iTunes to update it. When you launch iTunes it should prompt you to update to iOS 5.1.

Sounds like you synced your new phone to his backup, not yours. Reset the phone and try again. Or maybe Restore will let you resync it, I'm not going to try it on my phone to find out.

You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them.

Laptop has been broken.. so I need to download Itunes on a new computer so I can sync media, back up apps etc and also update software... Is it as simple as that.. download Itunes then re register my phone?

You also need to restore the itunes library, along with any other relevant data from the backup you made of your old computer before it died.
You can NOT sync music TO the computer from the iPhone unless it is music that was purchased from iTunes.

Sounds like a bogus pop up. In any case power down your Mac, your modem, your router. Then power back up in 1 minute sequence; modem, router, Mac.

I even tried an older version of Safari. Nothing Helped. Others have tried it on their machine, and it worked fine. But I do not know what is the matter with mine. The "Photos" view has been replaced by the Media Browser.
Most applications will show you the Photos icon in the Sidebar, when you need to select photos in a file chooser dialoge. Mail, Safari, the iWork apps. See Terence Devlin's User Tip: How to Access Files in iPhoto
For example, in the File > Open dialogue in Preview I am seeing this in the sidebar.

Can no longer access Netgear Router

We have been using a Netgear MR 314 router for years for both Wireless and Ethernet wired activity on our G4, G5 and MacBooks. We recently upgraded to Safari 4.0.1 on all 3 machines. Internet, file sharing, screen sharing, home networking all work just fine.
What mystifies me is that I can no longer access router data (192.168.0.1 + password) to do whatever on any of the machines with Safari 4.0.1. I click the tabs on the router (Wizard, Advanced, Maintenance) and nothing happens beyond the 'Welcome' screen. In order to get access to the router I have to use a Dell XP machine. Then I can get into the router with no problem. It's not a big deal, but any ideas?
Yes, yes - all of the MAC ID's for all computers and wireless adapters are still in the router configuration table as tested today with the Dell. So, again, any ideas ??

From what you describe, it seems that Netgear deliberately chose to make their web-based management system for their routers focused on Windoze and it's browsers, so either they're using non-compliant HTML, or they're browser sniffing and rejecting anything that isn't IE or Firefox on Windoze. You should complaint to them and let them know how upset you are. There's really no excuse for that, especially since they don't disclose it prior to or after you buy it, and it just shows how lazy they really are when designing these systems.
You should open Safari's Preferences>Advanced window and enable the Debug menu, then go to that menu on the menu bar and use the User Agent sub-menu to select a different browser (Firefox for Windoze) and see if that will give you access again.
