HT4914 I have uploaded music to the icloud from my macbook using itunes match.  Now I wish to download a song onto my iphone. A pop up warns me there may be an additional fee.  Is this true?  Please explain.

Are there really additional fees to download music from the itunes match icloud to an iphone?

Not for using match itself, but are you currently on a wifi network or using your cellular network ? If you are using cellular and you are on a fixed data allowance then downloading (or streaming) music over it may result in you going over your data allowance and therefore getting charged extra by your carrier

Is it possible to delete the original photos from my iphone if i have uploaded them into the icloud?
Or are they then completely lost?

Yes.  iTunes will report that your photos are now being accessed from iCloud Photo Library and will no longer sync photo and videos from your computer.  If you have a Mac, you'll want to avoid enabling it until OS X Yosemite in introduced along with it's built-in photo app, which will have to ability to access iCloud Photo Library.  (Note: the Photos app may not be introduced concurrently with Yosemite, but is supposed to follow "early next year".)

  • I just uploaded my iTunes library to the cloud using iTunes Match. When I buy a new song from iTunes, is it automatically put in the Cloud or do I have to push iTunes Match. I certainly don't want to upload the whole library again. Thanks

I just uploaded my iTunes library to the cloud using iTunes Match. When I buy a new song from iTunes, is it automatically sent to the Cloud or do I have to click on iTunes Match? I certainly don't want to start the whole upload process over again. Thanks

It should do so automatically, if not check it's staus this way.
In iTunes press "Command J" or select "View Options," under the view menu. In the popup window check iCloud Status. It will now appear as one of the columns in your main iTunes window.
This column will show which of your songs are matched, uploaded, ineligible, etc.
When you navigate to the song you downloaded you will see it's iCloud status.
If the status says, "waiting," and you want it available on Match now, then in the iTunes "Store," menubar pulldown, select "Update iTunes Match."
It will scan your drive, and update all status'.
You will not have to upload everything again.
Even if in iTunes you turn Match off, and back on again.
    Match remembers you!

  • I have 2 iphones in the family and want to use itunes match on both devices, but my husband has his own itunes acct, how can he use the main itunes library and get out music on his phone also

I have 2 iphones in the family and want to use itunes match on both devices, unfortunately my husband has his own itunes acct and when i change on his phone to my itunes acct it states that the email is already in use, any help on how to get the itunes match to go onto both devices, thanks

    "Method Three
Create a separate iTunes library for each device. Note:It is important that you make a new iTunes Library file. Do not justmake a copy of your existing iTunes Library file. If iTunes is open, quit it.
This one may work. I searched and searched on the website for something like this, I guess I just didn't search correctly, lol. I will give this a try later. My daughter is not be back for a few weekends, therefore I will have to try the Method 3 when she comes back for the weekend again. "
I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

  • I'm using iTunes Match now, can I no longer manage the music on my iPhone through a playlist on my computer in iTunes?

I used to pick and choose the music I wanted to take up the storage space on my iPhone through iTunes on my computer (note: not on my phone). Now that I use iTunes Match, the only way to delete songs seems to be to use my iPhone and swipe on whichever artists or songs I want to delete. Can I no longer use a playlist in iTunes to choose which music takes up the storage space? Let me know.. I still want to be able to play a song I haven't synched up to my phone through iTunes Match if I need to, though, so I don't want to just turn it off (plus I paid $25 for it...). Thanks!!

    A few things:
    1) By default, iTunes Match puts *nothing* on your iPhone. It just lists the songs that are in the cloud, and you can download them if you choose to. It seems like that's what you want, but you say you're not getting it. You don't have to delete everything you don't want. On the contrary: You have to download everything you do want. I'm confused.
Basically, my phone is already completely full (32GBs) of music and a few high def videos at the moment. I *want* about 24GBs of music on my phone right now. I *have* about 28 on there. It is nice to have that 24GBs of music on my phone because iTunes Match doesn't work perfectly - sometimes if I am driving, and I click play on a song I want to hear that isn't on my phone, it takes 20-40 seconds to start to play (with songs/mixes over 30 minutes, this can be several minutes). I want to keep a lot of songs on my phone, permanently, all the time, and choose songs to add to that permanent list as I choose/download them.
Maybe this will make it a little bit clearer, I realize this isn't the easiest thing to describe and I've had a few beers: I downloaded (by clicking play on my phone) songs I don't want to take up space on my phone. I clicked play on them, on my phone, while driving in my car. Heard that song once, now I don't want to hear it again for awhile, and I certainly don't want it taking up my precious space on my phone. Now imagine this situation times 100 or so.. that's 100 different songs (a few of them very long mixes) on my phone that I have to go in and manually delete by swiping. I want to do it from my computer.. it'd be way easier to find them and delete them.
Anyway, I think the answer is that there isn't a way to manage my music with iTunes Match enabled on my computer. No big deal, I guess, just suggesting there should be easier ways.
    2) You actually don't need iTunes Match to redownload a song that you forgot to sync over, as long as it's a song you purchased in iTunes. Anyone (match subscriber or not) can redownload iTunes-purchased music, tv shows, apps, and books right from the device in the iTunes app.
I have never downloaded a song from iTunes, so this doesn't apply.
    3) In your mind, what are the features of iTunes Match on the iPhone other than makin your entire library accessible for download from the cloud? As far as my logic takes me, if you want to manually control what's on it, you specifically don't want iTunes Match enabled, and I don't see any other reason you would want it enabled.
The only feature I am using iTunes Match for is to download music I haven't synced to my phone, onto my phone. I just want to be able to delete it later from my computer. I guess I want to be able to see the songs I have downloaded since the last sync so that I could easily delete those songs.. Yes, that would be a good solution.

  • HT1386 I have my music in the icloud, but i want to have them physically on my iphone as well. itunes won't seem to let me do this . any suggestions or remedies?

i have put my music on the icloud, and use i tunes match also. i want to be able to
physically have my music on my iphone as well, but syncing doesn't seem to work.
    Any suggestions?

I work around this by turning iTunes Match on on my computer, but keeping it off on my iOS devices.  If you like this idea, go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone and turn off iTunes Match.  Then sync your device to your computer.
You may have to check iTunes settings on your computer to make sure it syncs music for you.  I don't recall if that happens automatically - i don't think it does.  When your iPhone is plugged in to your iTunes, open the Music tab under iPhone in iTunes on your computer and verify (or change) its sync settings.

  • HT204406 Uploaded CD last night. I see it in itunes match. However can only download some of the songs. Few have the Icon to download from Itunes Match, however it is not able to be clicked on. It's a lighter icon then other download ones.

I uploaded a CD last night. I see it in my ituned match on my work cpu. I can download 6 of the 10 songs. The other 4 have an Icon to download from Itunes Match, however it is not able to be clicked on. // See Pearl Jam Ten. I can download almost half the songs. The others remaining I cannot though they say they are available. I've reset the cache, I've closed and reopened Itunes, I have even turned MATCH off and then back on. Nothing is working. Please help. Also the song will not play. If I start the album, it skips over these songs.

The number of Songs that 'matched' is simply a function of the current iTunes Match service process.  It is not unusual to have multiple Songs in an otherwise perfectly matched album be uploaded - often it is very possible to find the album in the iTunes Store.
The Artwork does tend to reappear for many over a few days / weeks - however, if your library backup has all Artwork present it would be wise to save the Album Art separately and reapply to Albums not showing art work in the library grid view.
Many of the other performance issues you mention are not typical - though during the past working week or so the Apple Infrastructure has been very heavily loaded with multiples countries having service go-live symultaneously.

  • I have a large music collection in My Music which is where my Itunes music is.  I use Itunes match now and possibly it is what is causing my problems but can't be sure.  I keep getting a new My Music folder when I go into itunes so I have 2. what can I do

Hi.  I have a very large my music folder on my C drive.  This is were all of my music is including itunes.  However, when I go into itunes, it sets up a new my music folder. If I erase the new folder, it comes back the next time I go into itunes.  It is just a very small folder vs. the large 132 GB file named My Music.  What is this new one and why does it keep getting generated vs. Itunes just using the large My Music folder that has all my music.  The small My Music it creates is 134 MB.  Does this have something to do with using Icloud and Itunes Match?  I find it confusing to have two my music folders.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor.  The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow.  It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them.  You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version).  Personal preferences showing here.

  • I cannot download specific songs onto my iPhone through iCloud?

I recently swapped my old iPhone 4 (that was a tad bit glitchy) for a new iPhone 4 (that's a lot glitchy). I had to restore from a previous backup, and also had to download the music I wanted on it using iMatch and iCloud. 99.9% of the songs I want download, but there are 2 songs in particular that get stuck and will not download. It seems like they start downloading fine, but when it's time for the iPhone to process it and keep it, it resets and starts downloading again. It does this about 5 times and then gives up and says that the song cannot be downloaded at this time.
I have literally tried everything. I've restored the iPhone back to factory settings and then restored from a backup again. I've restarted the iPhone and tried downloading that song again. I've tried restoring it from a different backup. None of these have worked. And what's even weirder is that it's a song that I purchased from the iTunes store directly on my iPhone.  What's even weirder is that I can play the song the full way through, but after the song is done, it will not show as downloaded.
    Here's a screenshot of what's happening:
It gets to that point (in the screen shot above) and then resets and tries to download the song again. It keep doing this for about 5 more times and then gives the error message above. It's very frustrating not to be able to have a full album download because of one song.
    Please help!

  • I downloaded music from iTunes onto my iPad. I enabled iTunes Match on my PC (where most of my music is stored). When I turned on iTunes Match on iPad it said the iPad music library would be replaced. How do I use iTunes Match without losing  iPad music.

I bought music from iTunes and downloaded it to my iPad. I have enabled iTunes Match on my PC (where most of my music is stored). When I turned on iTunes Match on iPad it said "iTunes Match will replace the music library" on my iPad. All of my iPad music is saved on iCloud, and some of my PC music is on iCloud. If I use iTunes Match will the music previously downloaded on my iPad be lost?
    Thanks!!

You need to either sync the iPad with iTunes so it will transfer the purchases to the iTunes library or download them from the purchase history. Then let iTM work on the "new" tracks in the library then all the music will be available on the iPad.

  • HT5622 valid apple id but not icloud account.  I tried downloading on a different computer and logging in and it did not work.  I have restarted my computer several times.  I have changed my password several times.  I have tried to access the icloud page.

repeating error message reads: "valid apple id but not icloud account." when trying to start my icloud account.  I tried downloading on a different computer and logging in and it did not work.  I have restarted my computer several times.  I have changed my password several times.  I have tried to access the icloud page.  Nothing has worked.  Now I have this stupid app and some of my music is still not being shared on both of my computers.

I have the same problem signing in...but, I finally got a screen saying you have to set up a account on a device..like an ipad to get a iCloud sign in ...my apple id is [email protected]   and this screen reset to [email protected]
If you don't have an apple device you may be out of luck.  I don't know.  I'm still waiting for help just as you are...good luck to both of us though.

  • ITunes Match now stalls on step 1.  I have a PC with Windows Vista.  I've use Match for a long time

iTunes Match now stalls on step 1.  I have a PC with Windows Vista.  I've used iTunes Match for a long time & it has worked well until last week.  Most of my songs now have a dotted outlined cloud beside them & I can't download to my phone.  6 new albums can't be seen at all.  I've turned off Match (with shift key down) & turned it back on - restricted my upload speed to 75% of max - I even uninstalled iTunes & re-installed it.  Any suggestions?

iTunes Match is stalled in the same place again today.  Step 1 seems to have completed as the blue progress bar is complete.  The message says "Delivering your iTunes Match results..."  When I went to bed last night, this is where iTunes was stuck.  But this morning, Match had stopped trying to "deliver."  It obviously did not finish because 6 new albums do not show up on my iPhone 5 - all of the 3 steps on the Match page were grayed out this morning & the "Start" button was available.
This is what I did yesterday - I looked at My Music and clicked "Songs."  I then added the "iCloud" column and sorted by that field.  I found about 100 files that had a problem of some sort (cloud with exclamation point inside).  Each of them had lost track of where the music file was - even though the music files were exactly where they should have been.  I re-linked (one at a time) all of the music files to the song titles.  In the cloud field one song was described as "ineligible for iTunes Match."  It had a could with a line drawn through it.   I didn't know what that meant, so I deleted the song.
I then turned off iTunes Match holding the shift key down & iTunes began collecting information from my library.  This took several hours but it did seem to complete because it changed to the "delivering results" message.  However, this morning I noticed that all of the files I re-linked yesterday still had the "error cloud" symbol today - a cloud with an exclamation mark inside.  Yesterday these songs wouldn't play until I re-linked the files.  Today they will play as expected, but they still have the "error cloud.'  To add to my confusion albums marked with the "error file" are still able to be downloaded to my phone, but the songs with the "error cloud" will not play smoothly on my PC.  They stutter regularly throughout playback.  However, if I download one of those songs or albums to my phone, it plays perfectly.
I hope this helps someone to explain what my problem is & the appropriate solution.  I have a little more than 12,000 songs in my library in case that makes a difference.  Should I just delete the files with he "error cloud"?  All of the songs appear to be still in the cloud because they are available for download to my phone.

  • What's the best way to use iTunes match with 4 iPhones and an ipad2

Currently have iPhone 4 (2), iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G (used as touch-no sim), and iPad 2.  We use one apple id to purchase with. We use a windows 7 pc and iTunes 10.5.....latest ver.  My questions are  kinda multi faceted, but I'm thinking iTunes match can help.  Ok....
Is iTunes match cloud space the same as iCloud space?
I have ~15000 mp3's.  I'd like to use iTunes match to "clean up" my library.  So, once I get my matched tunes up there will all my devices see that library?
What about playlists?  Do they just stay the same and locally reside on iDevices?
I don't have a Mac yet, well I don't have a new one.  I currently have a iBook g4 1.0 ghz with 1.25mb ram and osx 10.5 on it.  I would like to move all my music to a 1tb nas drive that I have.....iTunes does see it.  Then do all my iTuning from that machine for the next couple of months until I save more money and by an iMac.
However, it seems as though this ITunes might be able to this better.......
I'm terribly confused...I have 10+ years in IT, albeit mostly all PC.  That being said, I am ready to switch, I just feel like I'm so deep into a mess it seems impossible to do any of this cleanly.
    Thank you,

I'll try to help a bit.
ITunes match space is different to icloud space. With iTunes match you get storage for 25,000 non iTunes purchased tracks and other than a limit for individual file size, there is no memory limit.
You can turn match on individuallyon each device (I have it turned off on my iPod but turned on on my iPad and iPhone). When you turn it on then you get access to all the tracks, and in my experience any playlists I create have transferred over very well. I understand that some people have had trouble with playlists though.
I'm not quite clear with exactly what you mean regarding cleaning up your library, but be careful about using Match for this. There is no guarantee that matched songs will be exactly the same version as your own copy, due to some mismatches, so you could find some problems there. Personall, I am cleaning up my library before matching, but I am rather particular about keeping my library the way I want it. If you aren't as fussed then match could be the answer.
    Hope that helped.
