HTML 5 support ?

Hi all,
I am using wordpress for my HTML 5 tutorials website, now i would like redesign my entire site using HTML 5 (seems only fitting), and would like to know if dreamweaver is already supporting HTML 5 or if it will in the future with updates, i would like to purchase dreamweaver today i have other projects where dreamweaver will come in handy so i kinda need it anyway, but to know if dreamweaver does or will support HTML 5 even down the track would make my purchase of dreamweaver a little easier.
I am only assuming that there will be updates to support the new code & references, so i will wait for some confirmation before buying, that said i would like to purchase today, Anyways thanks in advance for any helpful replies, i'll check back for some replies.
Thanks again, Darren

Hi
There is no problems using (x)html5 with dreamweaver providing you do not mind doing a little work yourself.
As David suggested you can include any tag and definition you wish, just follow his link for information on how. As for the doc type you can define your own 'Template' in DW and replace the doc typ for the html5 doc type (this is what I have done), do not rely on all of the current html5 spec. remaining as is, e.g. the media spec has now been dropped due to problems with licensing, copyright, and the different browser/technology vendors not agreeing on free usage of their technology.
You may have also heard that the footer spec has been changed only this week, which shows the fluid nature of the spec, especially as the 'last call' is due in October (forget 2022, anyone who thinks it is that far away), that is not to say it will not change again after that date.
As for the doc type (the xhtml version is rapidly becoming the recommended one, this is the basic 'vanilla' version), use -
<!DOCTYPE html>
The xhtml version requires the namespace, (if you do not know what that is, then do not use html5 at the moment), for more info on html5 see - http://html5doctor.com/
Most importantly, if you plan on supporting any version of IE (including 8), then you will require the js script for html5.

  • xsl:output method="html"/ - supported?

    Is the otutput method "html" supported in
    the recent version of the XML/XSL parser?
    I was trying to use the <BR> tag with the
    <xsl utput method="xml"/> declaration but
    I got an XSLException error message
    indicating a not well-formed XML document.
    Then I tried the following output method
    declaration: <xsl utput method="html"/>
    but I got the same result?!
    Here's a simple XSL stylesheet I was using:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl utput method="html"/>
    <xsl:template match="/">
    <HTML>
    <HEAD></HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <P>
    Blah blah<BR>
    More blah blah<BR>
    </P>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    </xsl:template>
    My question is: "How do I use a not
    well-formed tags (like <IMG>, <BR>, etc.)
    in a XSL stylesheet?"
    Thank you very much in advance!
    Cheers.
    Georgi

    Sorry for jumping in on this thread, but I have a question regarding you reply. I have an XSL stylesheet that preforms XML to HTML conversion. Everything works correctly with the exception of those HTML tags that are not weel formed. Using your example if I have something like:
    <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:output method="html"/>
    <input type="text" name="{NAME}" size="{DISPLAY_LENGTH}" maxlength="{LENGTH}"></input>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    It would render HTML in the format of
    <HTML>
    <input type="text" name="in1" size="10" maxlength="20"/>
    </HTML>
    While IE can handle this Netscape can not. Is there anyway to generate completely cross browser complient HTML with XSL?
    Thanks!

  • Full HTML Support

    I haven't played with CS3 yet, so I don't know if this
    already exists... but, are there any plans for full HTML support
    within flash for future releases?
    Basically, if I have a flash movie that utilizes a large
    portion of the screen, and I need to display some HTML content, I'm
    stuck. It's not feasible to use iFrames or floating divs in this
    situation. It would be great if I could load the HTML page into a
    movieClip and have full support of all attributes.
    Thanks.

    No big changes in HTML support in Flash CS3 Professional.

    Hello Alex,
    I don't have an answer for you.
    But, can you try to use http://drmtest2.adobe.com:8080/Content/anonymous.f4v with locally hosted OSMF player? This content doens't require user/pass info.
    I'm wondering that Google TV's flash player doesn't support prompt dialog.
    http://drmtest2.adobe.com/AccessPlayer/player.html requires flash player 11. That's why it won't be loaded with flash player 10.x.

  • WHY OH WHY NO HTML SUPPORT MAIL 5.1????

    Guys
    First of all well done on Lion. It is a geat looking OS and I personally LOVE IT.
    I must however askk wht for the sake of not having to run MS on my mac is there still no support for HTML mails in mail for mac 5.1?
    The ONLy reason I am running office 2010 for mac is for HTML mails. Now I know you can pull out your mad HTML skill to code a message as HTML ,but in the world we live in that is not always possible.
    Please guys shed some light on this.
    Arthur

    Why have questions when they're not answerable?  You're not talking to Apple, and even if you were, you wouldn't be talking to anyone who could comment on the question of why Mail does not have a WYSIWYG HTML editor built into it.  That seems to be all you're asking.
    Now, if you are looking for solutions, you can always compose your message in the HTML editor of your choice, load it up in Safari and then choose File -> Mail Contents of This Page.  Be aware, though, that Outlook copes extremely poorly with HTML e-mail.

  • Robohelp X5 For HTML Support Question

    We are currently using Robohelp X5 for HTML and are
    contemplating an upgrade to version 7 probably later this year. In
    the meantime, has there been any discussion about ending support
    for X5?
    Please let us know - thanks.

    Hi Wayne
    There will be wars and there will be rumors of wars...
    X5 was introduced in January 2004. I'm not sure what you mean
    by "ending support". If that question is intended to ask if Adobe
    will "officially" stop supporting that version, I'm personally not
    sure they ever have!
    This isn't intended to slam Adobe Support in any way, but
    probably your best form of support is right here in these forums.
    As for upgrading to version 7, why upgrade to that when 8 is
    available and offers a richer experience?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Is there better HTML support in swing?

    Is there a better HTML implementation than the one found in swing.text.html package that is freely available? (eg: the HTML parser that supports HTML 4, CSS, and better renderer than JEditorPane)
    thanks

    I understand you're desire to find a different package. I've been exploring the org.w3c.dom.html package from the W3C.

    b)     If there is a support of creating HTML reports , is there any support for above listed languages?

    Thanks,
    Prasanna

    Hi ,
    Thanks for providing the information , need more infomation towards creating HTML reports. I didnt understand the fallowing answer
    Is there any support of Designer and Viewer to create HTML reports?
    - Yes. Export to HTML 3.2 and 4
    What i mean about support of Designer and Viewer to create HTML reports is , using SAP crystal reports tools , i must be able to design a HTML report and use the report in WebPages .
    I mostly think this can be achieved and supported , however i need some kind of acknowledgement at this point of time.
    **Also my concentartion is more on getting information on Supporting Localization for the listed languages.If you suggest some blog or forum link which demonstrates on Localization , i would appreciate , if you add infortmation on that  like , lif the approach you are suggesting is generic to accept any type of language with RTL(Right To Left format) support**
    Thanks.

  • Basic HTML support from CS5 stripped?

    Look, I've been using DW since Macromedia owned it. I also just upgraded from CS3 to CS5, due to the issue with OS X Lion.  I do a weekly newsletter for someone and it's all basic HTML so all email clients and/or providers display it the same. The CS5 version, basically, has stripped all the basic HTML functionality. Why?
    In CS3, I could select some text, pick a font, change the size and color and be on my way. In CS5, it's the most convoluted way to do it and it automatically creates a CSS class. I DO NOT want to use CSS in an HTML email newsletter. Gmail won't display anything correctly. Hotmail is a different issue. So is AOL. All of these providers have members on the subscriber list so it needs to work with ALL of them.
    I know CSS but I really just want to keep it HTML for the sake of compatibility. Granted, I could make all CSS inline but, this newsletter has so much information in it. If I do it using inline CSS it'll take me half a day... it normally takes only about 1.5hrs to do it using HTML. I don't want to code it all by hand either. That, too, would take me the better part of a day and, frankly, I get paid for 2hrs of work, not 8+.
    See what I mean... http://www.parkavecds.com/newsletter/
    No one wants to do all of this by hand. Especially the New Release section. How cumbersome.
    All I want to do is select, color, pick font and size and go. I also need to be able to select a table and change it's background, without using CSS. It was incredibly easy to do using CS3. Now it's impossible in CS5 unless I manually go into the code and add/remove the "background" string using HTML in the table.
    Anyone know of a basic HTML WYSIWYG editor for OS X Lion that will let me select elements on the page and adjust/add/change/remove as easily as CS3? I've tried 'em all so far... Blue Griffon, Amaya, Coda, etc... I want the simplicity of CS3. I'd hate to hook up my old computer, every week, just to make this crummy newsletter happen. Or, perhaps, I'm missing something in CS5?
    Don't get me wrong, CS5 will be perfect for when I need to do some sweet websites using CSS etc... which I aslo do. But why on earth did they nix the basic HTML functions and force a user to make it CSS? Every browser works fine using plain HTML. I understand standards and why people should learn CSS etc... but, c'mon already! It should still be a part of the program. It's the foundation of the web!!
    Thanks for your help in advance!

    beardofdoom666 wrote:
    Thanks for the link. I submitted a request, too. Same as you.
    Despite my gripe, I did ask if anyone had a suggestion for a good WYSIWYG editor that had the functionaly that I need... basic HTML with the ability to avoid CSS and/or add/change backgrounds in tables on the fly...
    Thanks!
    From my experience if you are working with clients and emailing from an Email Service Provider (ESP) you are better off making your template once and uploading to their service if it is allowed.  I've done that before with Mailchimp.  Took a bit of time to learn the template language but once you get the hang of it for the provider it's just a matter of swapping text or images.  And for an even simpler solution just use their tools.  Most allow you to create basic emails in a WYSIWYG interface.  Unfortunately though outside of their constrained templates, most resources, and I would agree, suggest that you just hand code some tables and use code editors more than WYSIWYG.
    Not to get off-topic, but even though you can't use styles for email clients like GMail, don't forget you still need HTML tags on the document.  That link you posted originally contains a </html> at the end, but no header information for the client to decipher the code, sending the clients into quirks mode where they guess at what the code should render.

  • AnyChart 6 (HTML Support) and APEX?

    Hi,
    I would like to know if there are any pans on Orace side to support AnyChart 6 (HTML5 support) in future version of APEX? Flash graphs are very nice, but they are Flash based and show pretty bad performance, even if in APEX 4.0 they perform much better than in earier versions.
    Since Flash is on the way to dissapear, it woud be nice to know what is to be expected of the reporting support in APEX. TIA.
    Tamas

    Hi Patrick and Roel,
    Thank you for the SoD.
    I know that no dates are enclosed and it makes no sense to ask for one, but could you please tell, how will the release cycle of APEX is going to be? With APEX 3.x it was very infrequent, with APEX 4.x it seems to change but still very hard to calculate. On the other hand it would be good to know, wether we should start to use AnyChart 6 and later migrate to the new APEX version that is comming with HTML5 support or we should better wait, because it is comming soon (i.e. in 1-2 months)?
    Regards,

  • Does JEditorPane support JavaScript, CSS, XHTML, HTML?

    Can anyone confirm what JEditorPane actually can support? I can't find anything specific in the J6SE release notes and most of the stuff of Google is pretty dated, I have also searched the forums but nothing much on there that is recent. According to one post it supports some CSS and HTML but no JavaScript.
    Can anyone confirm this?
    What I plan to do is make a lightweight split pane editor for the above but I also want to be able to preview the code in another pane instead of launching a browser. If there still is no support then can anyone suggest an alternative way to get the same results?
    Failing that I will just have to try and then fall back to the browser but it would be nice to know before hand. The online docs I read don't cover a lot on compatibility.
    Cheers

    the answer is no. the html support in JEditorPane is
    very simple to be able to do things like simple help
    manuals and such. But you may be able to integrate
    the mozilla gecko engine into your application if you
    really want this.

    Hi Gimbal,
    Thanks for the info. The jrex thing certainly looks more like what I am after.

  • How to send existing email html including images

    I used the JasperReport to generate a report in html formats.
    The html page(containg the data) has a lot of images.
    I need to send the html report by emails with the images saved in local drive.
    So I used MineMulitipart way, but in existing ways the html part is just a few lines, you can define yourself.
    For my stiuation, the html is already there and very complicated,contain mulitiple images.
    How do I solve the problem still using MineMulitipart?
    Thanks!

    you basically have 2 options for images in HTML emails:
    Option 1) you can embed them as file attachments and reference them with no path (only the file name) in the img tag. This is good because the recipient will see the images even if he does not have an internet connection. But this is bad for several reasons: Each email will be large since it contains several attachments, thus large traffic on your SMTP server if the volume is high. Also, many email clients might not support this configuration. I would not normally recommend this option for these reasons, but sometimes this method can be prefferable if the recipient's email client is known to support it (Outlook, Outlook Express), and if the recipient is behind a firewall and does not have internet access.
    Option 2) the other, (preferrable) option is to serve the images on a publicly available web server, preferrably on port 80. Reference each image with an absolute URL to the file.
    Also note you should attach a .txt Multipart for those email clients which do not support HTML. (pine or elm users stuck in 1987). Note there are issues with mail gateways, as well as different levels of HTML support within the email client itself... mail clients won't support JavaScript either.
    ...good luck!

  • How to parse select lines in an html string?

    I've been writing a program to deal with demographic data and the first server it calls returns an xml string. However, the backup server returns an html string instead of an xml string, so the formatting is a bit different. I was going to use a regex as I did with the xml server, but regex's don't work that well with html. i was wondering if you could offer some advice on how to effectively parse the html string? It is in this format <html>

    The numbers I wanted to extract are the age groups of "Under 5 years," "5 to 9 years," "10 to 14 years," and "15 to 17 years," from both male and female groups, which should add up to 8 numbers total. Here is the backup server portion of my program as well, so you can see what i'm doing.

    }Currently it functions using a regex, and executes, but doesn't return any numbers, only returns zeros...If you could help me out with this, that would be amazing! Thanks so much.

    hmm, is there a way to do it without an external API? Of course there is.
    looks like i have to download the API and the idea behind the program is to make it so multiple people running only java can run the program, without having to download APIs, ect, to make it run. Not sure if that is what JTidy entails, but is that what you were suggesting?Personally, I don't understand the resistance to using well-tested tools already in existence as opposed to trying to rewrite a shallow facsimile of said tools. You can distribute the JTidy library along with your application and save yourself a great deal of development and debugging effort.

  • Unsupported Content-Type: text/html in JAX-WS

    Hi All,
    I was trying to add new WS client proxy using jdeveloper but it gives me some error:

    Strange thing is that, it works properly when a new client proxy is created in a new Application but it fails when I try to add second proxy to the application where first proxy is already added. Any pointers?
    Thanks,
    Nikunj

    How Can I make this work in the single project. Is there some alternate way to do so ?

  • [Non IE Regression] Support for full screen mode with multiple monitors

    This seems to be a regression with Flash Player v11.2.202.x (for all other browsers).
    With Internet Explorer it is still working.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/890/cpsid_89050.html
    == Support for full screen mode with multiple monitors ==
    Full screen content will remain in full-screen on secondary monitors, allowing users to watch full-screen content while working on another display.
    Tested on Windows 7 x64 SP1 with:
    - Internet Explorer 9
    - Firefox Release, Beta, Aurora, Nightly
    - Opera 12 build 1116
    In bugbase.adobe.com I cannot choose v11.2.x

    Please vote for it If you have the same problem:
