HttpURLConnection connecttion is successful even if the device is not
Hi All,
I am using HttpURLConnection to upload a data to my device.But strange thing is that ,If I use a IP address as string on URL path , that IP address is not available , then I am getting a unsuccessful message for unsuccessful connection. and if I use HOSTNAME string on URL path for HTTP connection, I can see a successful data transfer between My machine and the HOSTNAME, But ping is not successful for that HOSTNAME.I can see HTTP packet exchange between MY device and HOSTNAME on wireshark.
But I can write to DataOutputStream and I can see a packet communication to a address from wireshark.
Could you help me out How to avoid this problem?

I think "hostname " resolve has been done with HttpURLConnectionOf course the hostname has been resolved. That's what they're for.
because i can see the IP address with that domain name on wireshark while packet communication.Of course you can.
Could you please is tell me is there any way i can restrict from my application.Restrict what?
Is it that I need to check ICMP echo request from my application before going ahead withHttpURLConnection.No, why?
I using setInstanceFollowRedirects(false) to stop redirection.I don't know why you thought that would make any difference.

I purchased a Holux M-1200E Bluetooth GPS Data Logger. The device paired with my laptop just fine so I know it is working right. The device will not even show up on my iphone or ipad to pair via bluetooth. Is there a way to pair without jailbreaking??? I haven't had any trouble to date pairing any devic with my iphone or ipad, this is ridiculous!!!! Is there a way to update my bluetooth settings on my iphone 4s to be able to have this device be recognized??? I love my apple devices, but this is very frustrating. I bought this Data Logger for a specific purpuse to help out with my Search and Rescue volunteer activities, and I really need help with this!!! I am hoping apple will help me!!!

It may be the best source of assistance is the manufacturer of the device. I suspect you will need a specific app for the iPhone to get it to work, but the site is rather ambiguous about that. -
I used to be able to sync my iphone with itunes, but now when I plug my iphone into my computer it no longer syncs or even shows the device icon. Could this be because I have an old iphone and it's not compatible with the latest version of itunes?

im trying to update to newest ios version. but during the proccess, an unknown error accured, now the device wont do anything, just shows the plug into itunes screen. the device does not show in windows or itunes. the iphone wont do anything. i tried restarting, it shuts off and back on, but only shows plug into itunes thing. any ideas?
From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes. Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue. To update or not to update? And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista. My workflow dictates 32b fyi. One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126), 5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day. My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12) Windows mounts it just fine. itunes is not having it. no shirt no shoes no service.
I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano. The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad! Weird huh? I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
I'm at a loss on the thinkpad. Scanned for intruders. Cut the Lenovo bloat. Executed system and reg maintenance. Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail. NO NO NO. Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad. Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update. :|
So in summary for me:
5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^ last working version for me = 11.0.1
5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0 but no way in the world am I updating
4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod? -
Net connection trouble: "No Ethernet cable connected or the device is not responding"

I have been plagued by a dropping Net connection for a couple of months, and as it has been getting worse lately I have tried to sort out the problem.
I have simplyfied my connection between the computers and the VSDL fiber modem by bypassing my AirPort Express and Ethernet hub and connecting the three computers directly to the built in ports on the modem.
Since I did that a new error message has started appearing on my Mac Mini, saying that I have no Ethernet cable connected to the modem, or the device is not responding. At the moment I have two of the machines connected, and the Mac Book Air seems to work without problems. There are lights on the Ethernet ports on the modem, and they are lighting up for the iBook even when the Mac Mini connection drops. When the Mac Mini connection drops the lights go off on its Ethernet port on the modem.
This seems to point to some sort of trouble with the Mac Mini. Is there a way to monitor what's going on? Can I use Terminal, for instace? It can't be the settings, and it cant' be the cable, so it must be related to the hardware I suppose. I am using DHCP to connect to the modem.
The connection drops arbitrarily, sometimes for long periods of time, and then comes back up again by itself.
Any ideas for trouble shooting etc?

Thanks again. Unfortunately, the problems are back again. Had a stable connection and connected the AirPort again. Everything was working fine. Then all of a sudden the connection dropped again today.h
Connected a LAN cable directly to my MacBook Air and got the connection to work immediately.
Took that cable and connected to my MacMini, again, connection came back immediately.
The AirPort (in Brigde Mode) is also connected, but gives me a blinking orange light, and the same "no cable or (modem) is not responding" message again.
I guess this must rule out hardware problems in the computers.
Ligth for the LAN cable port on the modem connected to AirPort is dead. Moved the cable to another port, light still dead.
Shut down AirPort Express, still same orange blinking light when I switched it on.
I now suspect there is something going on with the AirPort Express. Just bought it, and I had the same problem with it's predecessor, but...
Is there any way to trouble shoot the AirPort Express?
I can connect to it Wirelessly, But AirPort Utility says it has been removed from the Network. In the Network Preferences it says it has a self-assigned IP. For Network Settings I get green lights for everything except Network Settings, which gives me a yellow light. It also says the Internet connetcion is working correctly.
Indeed, when I made the direct Ethernet connection inactive I still get a working connection over WiFi, in spite of the blinking orange light on the AirPort and a yellow light for Network settings in Prefereces....
In the console things look normal:

New ipod touch, Error: "The device can not be read or written to."
I don't know what else to do!
I also have an Ipod touch that just doesn't sync. When I connect the Ipod and launch Itunes to sync, it tells me that the device can not be written to:
It just doesn't snyc at all. It's brand-new, out of the box and just doesn't work. And it's not my first ipod, so I know how to handle Itunes.
That's what i've tried so far without success to solve the problem:
* restored the touch hundreds of times, both in recovery and DFU mode and within the touch software
* upgraded to firmware 1.1.4, downgraded back to 1.1.3, then to 1.1.2. and back to 1.1.4 - no change!
* installed several different ITunes Versions and different Apple Mobile Device Services
* tried MediaMonkey BETA with Ipod Touch support (this just creates 0kb files on the touch, but it also uses the mobile device service, so i guess the failure is somewhere there)
* tried 4 different Windows XP systems with Itunes at my home and at friends (same error there as well)
* restored my Windows XP with a recovery version and reinstalled Itunes completely from scratch
* created a new user account in Windows XP and tried it with this one
* launched Itunes with Internet switched off
* used different USB ports - both 1.1 and 2.0
* disconnected all USB devices
* registered the necessary DLLs manually
* last week, I sent the ipod to Apple (they claim that everything is fine and the problem is just me and my computer and sent it back without change)
I don't have an apple in reach, so i'm not able to test it with an apple computer. There is also no apple store here in the country side of Germany.
What else can be done? I know there are hundreds, that have the same problem but I don't know any more things to try. Now i have a 300 bucks touch i can not use as mp3 player...

I am trying to move a pdf file onto my iPad2, and it says that the device is not connected or has stopped working. But Windows 7 recognizes the device and I can see my pictures. Same thing happens when I try to put music onto the iPad.
When in iTunes on the computer,my our ipadmshould show under devices.
Click on your ipadmunder devices then go to music at top center of the iTunes window, check what you want to sync for music. You need to set it to a folder if I remember which would have your music in it you want synced.
Same with PDF files.....there should be an option for data or even PDF files at the top center area of iTunes when the iPad is clicked under devices.
If your iPad does not show or you cannot click on it under devices which is in the leftane of iTunes, the iPad is not being seen by the computer.
Try unplugging the USB cord from the laptop then give it a few and see if the computer picks it up. -
I have acquired a used iPhone. I want to set it up as my own. I want to change my Apple ID in the iCloud Settings og the phone to include my new ID but the iPhone is stuck on the previous one even though the phone has been dereigistered fom the old users account and I have reset an Apple ID on the site and on my phone. How do I change the Apple ID on the iCloud settings on the phone so that I register the phone on iCloud under my own account?
The previous user was supposed to erase the phone and remove it from their account, as explained here under "If the device has not been erased": http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515. Contact the previous owner and have them perform these steps.

The device is not responding to the first IRQ level
I am using a DAQCard 700 with a NIDAQ 6.9.3 driver on a windows XP. When I install the card and run the configuration uitillity (MAX) and push the test resources button, the computer hangs and responds to no input (not even ctrl-alt-del). When I push out the PCMCIA card the error message: The device is not responding to the first IRQ level. Anybody that has an answer?

It looks like you had an old AT board in a computer and then the power supply went out and you evidently also changed computers to a device with Windows NT. Now that you're in the new computer there appears to be some sort of IRQ conflict that is preventing the board from working.
In the past when I've seen this issue and all of the proper steps have been taken to troubleshoot it, the problem is often that the board died between the last use and the current use. However, it's not always the case, so here are a few other options.
First make sure that you have Traditional DAQ 7.4.1 (if you have LabVIEW 7.0-8.0 or are doing text-based programming) or Traditional DAQ 6.9.3 (if you are using LabVIEW 5-6.1). Then make sure that you followed the installation procedure outlined here: Product Manual: AT E Series User Manual (Chapter 2)

There have been a lot of advances in DAQ boards since the old AT days, so with newer devices and computers issues like this are rarely seen. Hopefully though, the device you have is not broken and we will be able to find out what is wrong with it right now.
