Hyper V file transfer kills the network

Dear All,
        We have 4 Hyper V VM installations on 2 HP DL 380 G8 servers and have they are connected to HP NSA 2040 SAN Storage through 6 Gbps Fibre channel. The physical machines are clustered.
Out of the 4, 2 are Clustered Hyper V's running Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 and we have 2 Clustered Hyper V for Database server running MS SQL 2012 R2.
The issue here is that the APP servers are slow in communicating with the DB server. The Hyper V's have a dedicated 4 * 1Gbps interface cards teamed and the packets are getting timed out. But from any other machine in the subnet the communications are proper.
When ever i try to copy a file from the DB server to the APP server using SMB share it kills my network, the copy will happen but after the copy is completed the network comes backup.
Its strange scenario. APP server 2 APP server smb copy is fine, and from DB to DB smb copy is fine but cannot copy between them.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks,
Sriram A Das

  • Photoshop CC crashes, and my working file disappears from the network

    I was just wondering, has anyone ever had Photoshop CC crash, and then realize the file you were working on disappeared off the network?
    I've had other files where it created a 'recovered' file upon reopening of Photoshop, but the one that crashed it, is gone...
    is there a way to allocate/recover that missing file?

    There is typically no way to get back lost files, short of restoring backups.  I hope your administrator is backing up your server regularly.
    May I suggest you change your working habits to avoid working on files directly on your network server.  Instead, copy the file to your local PC with your OS tools (e.g., Finder) and work on it there, save it there, then when you are done copy it back to the network server.
    Adobe always advises not to save files directly to the network, because of the possibility that things can go wrong and data be lost.

  • Problem with file transfer over the net

    Hi!I'm trying to make a program that allows to send/receive files and I'm almost done,except for a little problem:the file received has some bytes missing at the end!
    For example if I send a text the last 2-3 lines are missing,same thing for an image,an html document,etc.,although the file opens without any problem.As transport-level protocol I'm using TCP so it's not a networking problem,I think the problem is in the application layer so I post here the code,hoping someone helps me out(in this example I'm trying to send an image .jpg):
    Sender:
    Socket connectionSocket=new Socket("ipadress",port);
    FileInputStream source=new FileInputStream(System.getProperty("user.home")+"\\Documents\\image.jpg");
    BufferedOutputStream send=new BufferedOutputStream(connectionSocket.getOutputStream());
    int c;
    while ((c = source.read()) !=-1)
                    send.write(c1);
    Receiver
    ServerSocket receiverSocket=new ServerSocket(port);
    Socket  connection=receiverSocket.accept();
    BufferedInputStream rec=new BufferedInputStream(connection.getInputStream());
    FileOutputStream receivedFile=new FileOutputStream(System.getProperty("user.dir")+"\\received.jpg");
    int c;
    while ((c = rec.read()) != -1)
                    receivedFile.write(c);I think the problem is in this code:somehow the sender stops sending bytes before the end of the file is actually reached...what do u think?

    Thank you so much!At the end it was a very stupid mistake!:D
    Btw now that the main problem is solved I continue posting asking for your opinion:is this program for you efficient enough?Or there's a better way to do file transfer?

  • Slowness during AE rendering using file stored on the network

    Hi,
    i work as IT consultant in a design studio.
    This studio has 3 workstation with 2xquad xeon ,16gb ram , 15000 rpm disk, Nvidia tesla card,  fast enough to perform rendering with 3dmax using vray and other stuff.
    They work a lot with watches and boat.
    This spring they started to do presentation with AE cs4 and as other 3dsmax project store all data on a 2x2 xeon 4 gb debian x64 samba server with 2tb raid 1 sata.
    The network is a gigabit and they can transfer to the server 100/120 mb/sec (i can achieve locally on the server 170 mb/sec from the raid).
    The issue is that 3dsmax and other programs works efficiently on the network instead AE is very very slow using project stored on the server.
    I've tried to set up disk caching on local workstation  but there aren't changes, so i've inspected network traffic of AE with Wireshark and i saw that AE continuosly request always the same files (seems doesn't use an algorithm of caching) .
    My conclusion is:
    - our network is fast for transfer but slow with latencies ( for request a file we need 50-500 ms )
    Solution:
    - change topology of the network : switch from gigabit to fiber cabled network (too much money)
    - discover some trick of AE
    I appreciate a lot ur help.
    Ps:sorry for my bad bad bad english.

    i forgot, copying on local disk the project folder AE spend 10 minutes to render, the same project on the network spend 1,30 hours.

  • File transfer using wireless network

    Hi all
    Is it possible to add my 5800 to my home network as a device so I can share files etc. The phone connects automatically for internet access but that's not what I want to do.
    Hope this makes sense.

    Hi arkwright617 - yes what you say does make sense, and unfortunately I can't give you a clear yes or no answer as you'd have to try a couple of things to see whether it will work.
    Just a bit of background so you know where I'm coming from - Some Nokia phones (like the N95) support a technology called UPnP which allows the filesharing you mention to take place relatively easily and painlessly - unfortunately the 5800 doesn't support this technology.
    I've had a look at the technical specification of your phone, and it mentions that you have WiFi, but 3G only and I'm not sure exactly what that means - but if it means for example that you can surf the internet (from your phone) connecting via your wireless router rather than your mobile network provider then this is good and we can progress - otherwise it'll definitely be a no go (although you can still transfer files via cable if required you won't be able to do it wirelessly)
    If you can surf the internet from your phone, then you will have to run a piece of software on your PC called a Web server - what you can then do is point your web browser on your phone to your PC and you can then download any files you require to your phone.
    There are a couple of VERY VERY VERY important provisos you need to be aware of before doing this :
    1) Although you will be able to download files from your PC, if you misconfigure your web server then everyone else on the internet could potentially do so too - be very very very careful before going down this road.
    2) Even just installing web server software onto your PC could open it up to attacks from the internet - so be very very very careful.
    Regards,
    Edward

  • IChatAV and file transfer over wireless network

    Hi there...
    I'd like to let you in on my predicament. Firstly, a bit of background.
    I decided to buy my folks an old iMac from eBay in Australia - and pay for their broadband connection - so that I could video chat to them from the UK, and they could see my 5 year old son for the first time in 4 years. Cute, eh?
    Well, everything was working fine until I decided to go wireless in my home about 3 months ago. I have a static IP address, and purchased a nice new Airport Express to integrate into the system. I allocated my G5 iMac it's own network address (10.0.1.2), and the base station the master address (10.0.1.1). From there, the base station communicates to the router via the static IP... Sound ok?
    Anyway - NOW (or, for as long as I can recall), I CANNOT for the life of me send files over the connection. Video chat and audio chat are fine (although OCCASIONALLY it takes a few goes to be able to see THEM on my computer - I think their bandwidth isn't THAT stable at 512Kbps down and 128Kbps up) - however, the correct ports have been unblocked on the OSX firewall AND the Airport Express base station.
    And just so that you know it's not the folks' fault - I can't send documents/images over the network to friends I KNOW are competent (or, at least more competent than my parents!). There's always an error message at the receiver's end, and the file I'm attempting to send just times out.
    Has anyone any suggestions as to how I might be able to resolve this problem before I expire from old age?!?
    Your thoughts are REALLY appreciated!

    Hi Ralph
    I can see where that might be the case, but file transfer worked flawlessly BEFORE I went wireless using the same modem. The only way to unblock ports on my router is to turn NAT off - it creates a DMZ, so it permits unhindered 2-way traffic...
    It's a pretty confusing piece of kit. Maybe I should just get a Netgear anyway!
    I have a laptop on the wireless network as well, and file transfer works a treat between it and the iMac. All I can think of is that because I'm now working on a LAN, there's a blockage to get out to the "Real World" - even though it's easy for video to pass through.
    I'll check my unblocked ports again, just to be sure. I'm unfamilar with the term "Jabber" - is that what Apple decided to call one of the elements of iChat? Excuse my ignorance...!

  • The file transfer failed: the connection failed!!!

    Hi all, I have been trying for 2 days to get this working. I have a Sony Ericsson K800i. I wish to transfer a file from my Macbook to the phone via bluetooth. Every single time the subject message popped out.
    Now I have tried transferring file from my phone to my macbook; from my phone to other phone; from my macbook to other phones all via bluetooth and they worked out okay...
    I checked my device support OBEX object push and other one that all this forum goers said it's important... what kills me is that I have sent file from my macbook to my phone before and now it suddenly stops working...
    Anyone has a clue? thanks!!!

    hello guys
    i have the exact same phone and I have a slightly close problem since the migration to Leopard.
    i can transfer a file from the computer to the phone, i can also transfer from the phone to the computer, but everytime i try to browse the phone with the bluetooth file exchange application, i have a "internal error" error message.
    nothing to do with the blutooth sharing, back with Tiger it was always off and evrything worked fine, and now i've tried with and without, nothing solves my problem.
    any idea?
    thx in advance

    Whats the issue with using IE if it works from IE?
    >we have users that use FF on regular bases and just for a link to switch browser it is not user friendly. all though we are supporting two browsers we do not want to take FF out of network.
    Is there a reason you want to use FireFox?
    >FF has gained popularity in our agency and it would be best to have this link work on FF as well.

    Firefox sees that (at least local or network dive located) .bat files are text and renders them as such. To download it as a .bat file, use save page as, (or Control-S) change "text file" to "all files" and type .bat onto the end of the filename, then hit save. Not ideal I know, but better than nothing.

  • 10.9.2 Mavericks and can no longer connect to our SMB file share on the network.

    Smb was working under 10.9.1. Now  smb and usning the finder I get "connection failed".  Both of my NAS are not out when i am using my mac book pro  thru the wifi connection.    Is any one else have the same problem?

    Same story here - smb:// worked under 10.9.1, but the Update 10.9.2 broke it.
    Some facts:
    Mac Book Pro Retina 2012
    Network connection is over WLAN (The connection is very stable and no issues else where)
    The issue seems to be caused when there are larger files (> 500MB) in the share
    smb:// works for shares with lots of folders but only small files in them
    smb:// and cifs:// are both almost unusable
    smb://  shows a blank screen for ages- Finder will eventually hang up
    cifs:// will connect fast (wow!), but the connection is very unstable for larger files
    The funny part is, that Mavericks (pre 10.9.2) was the first OS X which fixed most SMB issues of its predecessor. (SMB2 was somwhat slow, but quite usable) Now, I can not really use my Mac to work...
    Moral of the story, I think I will switch to Ubuntu 14 when it is released in April - it should support HDPI Displays.

  • File copying over the network - bangwidth periods

    Hi folks! I need help!!!
    I copy files (5-10 Gb) by xcopy and robocopy from different Windows servers (2003 - 2008 - 2008r2) to windows share and facing 2 problems:
    - after the copy is done - the file is deleted on share! o_O I thought that because after copy I unmount share by "net use ... /delete" in a batchfile. I added timeout 3 min., but the file is deleted before the share is unmounted (as i see in security
    audit - deletion by user who copied file). and my second assumption links to second question
    - I trace the network utilisation during the copy process and see the following: copy starts at 100% of bandwidth, after after that 2% --> 50%(average - from 0 to 100 very fast) --> 2% --> 100% and so on...  the period of changes is about 3
    min (sorry, don`t know the amount in bytes).
    my assumption is that there is some kind of cache - network or disk - that transfers by portions and when the last portion is transferring - the share unmounts and file deletes (-timeout is unsufficient).
    SO please help me understand this network behaviour - looks like it`s a OS feature and can it be the cause of deletion?
    Thanks for help!
    Stanislav.

    Hi Stanislav,
    Glad to hear that the issue has been resolved. Would you please share the detailed solution about the issue.

    Hi all,

    Thanks in advance

    Yes. By sending its values by any other means, like as XML.

  • Kill the Network Stalling popup!!!

    Does anyone know how to stop iTunes from throwing up the "Network Stalled" popup? It’s absolutely, completely, and infinitely infuriating. I simply don't care if the network is having an issue. I especially don't want a popup coming up randomly while I’m trying to do other more important things….like work. I loose window focus on what I’m working on and either have to wait for the window to close or grab my mouse to click back on what I was doing. All the while I’ve lost my place and wasted time on something I can’t change or fix. And, to add insult to injury, when the window comes up, the specific focus is on the “Stop” button. Therefore, if I’m typing and the window pops up before I can stop, my key presses cause the “Stop” button to be clicked and iTunes stops playing. It would be fine if the message displayed in any of the iTunes status message areas within the application. But, it’s completely pointless and counterproductive for anyone to endure the current behavior.

    As an addendum to this post, hopefully Tech staff gets messages from this forum: ANYTIME iTunes has a dialog box it Steals the Window Focus. This should only happen when a severe error will affect the entire computer. I have had multiple dialog boxes dismissed without being read becuase I was typing along and iTunes stole the window focus and the space bar dismissed a box before I knew what happened. I then had to use the mouse to go back to the application where I was actually getting some work done. Please fix this in the next release!

    A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
    The Knowledgebase article <a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1963?viewlocale=en_US">Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated</a> refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
    If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate.  Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
    Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
    >Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    >Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    >System Preference add-ons
    >All Unsanity Haxies
    >Browser and other plug-ins
    >Contextual Menu Items
    >Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    >Kernel extensions
    >Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries</li>
    See also <a href="http://developer.apple.com/documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/universal_binary/univ ersal_binary_exec_a/chapter_950_section_1.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40002217-CH 210-TPXREF101">What Can Be Translated by Rosetta</a>.
    In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
    If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
    If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
    The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
    Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior 4.1, TechTool Pro 4.6.1, SuperDuper 2.5, and Drive Genius 2.0.2 work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard.  The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.  Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
    Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check <a href="http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20060126094146180">MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index</a>.

    Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking
    will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.   The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode.  It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
    <b>If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions</b>:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
    2. Backup your data.  This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    4. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
    5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
    <b>If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)</b>
    1. Set up a local home network: <a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1433">Creating a small Ethernet Network</a>.

  • Question about XML file transferring over the networking

    Hi, I am now to Java, and now I am going to set up a simple network in the lab.
    I have created a random array of data and transferred to XML file on my client. Now, I would like to send it to the server. I am wondering how I can put the XML file into my client, and do I need any parser to let the server show what random date it has received?
